    The Hamilton Intra-Matic is no doubt a stunning dress watch - a true vintage throwback that you would see on the wrist of a 1950’s businessman. But is it all looks or does the quality and the movement make it an all-around knock-out? Check out this review to find out.

    I just purchased the new champagne dial variant (introduced last year). Not as striking as the silver sunray dial, but still makes for a very nice contrast with the polished stainless steel case.

    Hamilton needs to bring back their micro rotor movements so the watch can be thinner for their dress watches. Just a thought😁

    Great review! Hamilton‘s got a winner with this intra matic, it totally captures the essence of the original. It’s as elegant and simple as it is striking and evoking of that sixties charm. Perhaps they could’ve made the Hamilton font on the clasp match that of the dial, where maybe skipping the “automatic” would have been wise. Anyway, an overall amazing piece at this price point!

    With the color of the dial I think the stainless steel case option is far better. Check out the jazzmaster thinline as well.

      Hey mr bacchus,
      It is true that the stainless steel case looks amazing. Such a classic look.
      I have reviewed the Jazzmaster Maestro last year (ruclips.net/video/44ZIsKda0sE/видео.html) but that was anything but thin. Haha. I'll have to take a look at the thinline.
      Thanks for watching.

    You really hit all the points, I really love this watch, has that mad men vibe going on. I do prefer the stainless version, but still the gold looks great. I would love to see a future review of a Nomos :)

      Hey GLD Edmond,
      Thank you for the kind words.
      For some reason I have been really into the gold & silver combo in recent years. Though I know the stainless case version is more popular, and looks amazing!
      Great recommendation on the Nomos review. I will see what I can line up for a future review.
      Thanks for watching.

    I’d be interested to see how the PVD holds up after 5, 10 or 15 years of wear.
    Can the PVD treatment be re treated.

    • @watchspec
      @watchspec  5 лет назад

      Hey Matt,
      That's a valid question. I'm sure there are a lot of factors that go into the durability of PVD.
      I do know that it is more durable than standard plating, but PVD cannot be reapplied within reasonable costs due to the surface preparation required.
      I have a vintage Seiko Grand Quartz from the 70s with gold plating, and that plating has worn off in some of the very edges, but it still looks great. It also depends on the viewpoint of the viewer - what one person calls "character" another person can call "garbage."
      I hope this helps.
      Regards,
      -Jon Rihtar

      It looks really cheap with gold plating. The steel version is so attractive and honest looking, don't know why anyone would buy this to fool themselves its gold. I also have huge reservations about an auto watch without a seconds hand. It takes away the whole nostalgia and mystique. I can't watch the smooth seconds hand...yet thers a useless see through caseback. Having an auto watch is Not just For avoiding changing batteries all the time. It's an emotional thing. And I'm not even what you guys would consider a watch person .

    Hey Matt...great review. I’ve been thinking about getting this watch for months, it’s so sleek and elegant, yet is has this simplicity that I love. The only thing that held me back is the lack of the seconds hand. I know Hamilton kept it true to its original design, and I can’t blame them for that. Just a question, though, you mention that this watch is “hackable” however, without the seconds hand how is that possible ? The hacking mode is used to set the watche’s time accurately, but without the seconds hand, how do you know that you’re setting the watch accurately? I’m really familiar with automatic and mechanical watches, but I’ve never had a two hand automatic. I hope you can answer my question, so that I can finally make my decision in purchasing this watch. Thanks in advance.

      Hi MrJosev27,
      Thanks for the kind words. It is true that regulation without a second's hand might make it a bit trickier, but it's now a problem. The way I regulate watches does not rely on the second hand. Instead, I use a microphone (my laptop's built-in microphone) to record the ticking sound of the movement to understand the speed. I have a watch regulation how-to video series that would help you do this: ruclips.net/p/PLw0W6ztid3Zd78Cqwe2L-eXdSVgaipqXX.
      Alternatively, a watch shop would have the equipment to easily measure & adjust the movement's speed.
      I hope this helps.
      Let me know if you need anything else.

    Hello i hope youre well. I have a 8 ¼ inch wrist im thinking the 38mm might be too small how do you think a 42mm would sit on my wrist youre 38 looked big tbh.

    • @watchspec
      @watchspec  2 года назад

      Hi Chris. I think the 38 would still work well for your wrist. Dress watches typically run smaller than larger to stay more reserved and understated. But I would say the 42mm will not look bad on a 8.25” wrist by any means if you are more comfortable with that. Good luck!

    Nice review, very nice watch, between this and the khaki field auto 38 mm which one would you suggest as an everyday wear (business casual or casual dress code)? Which one do you personally like better? It is so difficult to choose, I am also considering a visodate. Thank you!

    • @wotv7732

      I own this watch (the gold one) recently and I wear suits for work 4x in a week (except Friday) + travelling to meet clients etc. I must say, this watch is for more business or business casual rather than daily.
      Khaki field mechanic in the other hand is more into daily watch, but it is rather weird if you wear it with suit (you can do that occasionally, maybe with blazer or sport jacket and chelsea boots). Regarding visodate, I do not like the visodate font in the dial to be honest, it is like screaming for attention.
      I am not a collector, I just buy watches to complement my outfit which is the most important thing. Hope this help. BR

    • @watchspec
      @watchspec  5 лет назад +2

      Hi GB,
      For a business casual/casual purpose daily-wear watch, any of these could work, but I would recommend the Khaki Field Auto if I had to choose for myself. The Intra-matic and Visodate lean a little more dress (dress/business casual), whereas the Khaki Field positions itself a bit more business casual/casual. Also, the readability of the Khaki is better being a field watch.
      Luckily, I have reviews for all three of these watches. You can find the others here:
      -Hamilton Khaki Field Auto: ruclips.net/video/jicbh9yQmi4/видео.html
      -Tissot Visodate: ruclips.net/video/gpL4CHvbTi4/видео.html
      I hope this helps.
      Let me know if there is anything else I can do.
      Thanks for watching.
