I bought this silver dial 38 a couple years ago as a dress watch, but it has become my daily watch. The dimensions are perfect for me and it fits my life better than all of my other watches.
Thanks for this wonderful review of the intra-matic. I's picked up my 38mm intra-matic with a black dial and shiny steel bracelet way back in the fall of 2013. The watch is still keeping time accurately at between +4 and +6 s/d. The design is so simple, elegant and timeless. This watch will stay in my collection for a long long time.....
I was thinking the same thing. I have a few vintage Marlins and this watch reminds me a lot of some of those Timex models. Even the lugs are similar. I am a huge Hamilton fan, but if you can wear a smaller watch I would search out a vintage Timex. Cleaner dial, no date, and a seconds hand. Still love the vintage aesthetic they are going for. Great video.
One of my favourite watches of all time from an aesthetic point of view - the retro 50s/60s look is stunning however the lack of seconds hand is a deal breaker for me. I guess it could be one of the reasons why it’s quite thin though : needs less room for the hands to fit under the crystal. Hope you continue to enjoy wearing it.
I saw this one a couple of days ago in the Hamilton outlet store (in a MacArthur Glen) near my hometown for (new!) €318...... Watched this video, returned to the Hamilton store and made it my first Hammy (and mine aligns). I also bought a Seiko SRPD99J1 (very rare) for €269 in the Seiko outlet, so let the weekend commence..... Which to wear first though....?
Love my Intra-Matic. I've had it for three years and can't believe how well it keeps time. The minimalist face is the reason I like it. To me, the absence of a second hand has become a plus. Uncluttered. In some ways it seems to slow me down. Besides...who needs to know what second it is?
You won't find many silver 38's around now as they're discontinued! I have one, and absolutely love it as a classy affordable dress watch! A few weeks wearing it with a suit and it all makes perfect sense, no second hand is refreshing actually! I have to disagree with you on the original strap, I think yours is faulty as mine is high quality and again, after a few weeks it seems like the perfect strap to stick with! Although it does look nice on your brown leather too.....Glad you like the watch! One of very few Hamilton watches that a good old fashioned local watchmaker can service easily, unlike anything with a powermatic 80 which needs to be returned to Swatch only for a service which amounts to a new movement being thrown in.....no thanks!
So sad to hear that! As after watching this video, I do wanna look for one for my partner, but can only find the 42mm silver dial or the 38mm silver with gold case.
I couldn't handle that very slight hand alignment, my problem, it's just my OCD lol. It's the one thing that really pees me off !! Lovely looking watch though. Simplicity personified.
Just bought my first Hami - a 1955 salmon and silver dialed Trent. Legendary 770 hand wound movement has been fully serviced. These original beauties can be had for a mere few hundred bucks…an undervalued genre of watch collecting!
I have the 42mm gold pvd version of this watch. Lovely to look at and great time-keeping. Agreed, the original strap is not great, but do keep the original buckle and put it on the new strap if you change things around.
Excellent value/quality ratio on Hamilton, had a few -gifted a Khaki King to a mate for his 50th, & Mrs has nicked another khaki King, had a 7750 x-wind but sold it before it needed a pricey service. This is cool, but disagree about the date, think it's a useless complication for anyone who has a memory 🤣 Good video, thank you Dan 👍🏻👍🏻
Mathey Tissot (no relation to Tissot) is a Cheap Swiss Watch. Gray market sites sometimes offer Sellita models for $230 USC. I caught one on sale....wish I could loan it to you but it might cause a mess going through VAT inspectors Etc.
With such a fabulous movement. A2892-A2, developed by ETA and IWC, used in pre co-axiel Omega seamaster and so many other expensive watches costing thousands. I like this watch with date, its a daily wearer, forget all this 'dress watch ' nonsense! So circa post war !Those days are gone. This is a genuinly champagne spec for lemonade money, to quote WR4K!
Nice review nice watch, i like Hamilton good quality for the money, i like the strap i think i might go for one on my Rado Companion, i think black though to match the dial
I've had this watch on my list for so long that it has started to slip down the order of watches to try. This video has bumped it back up near the top!
Hamilton is the most budget friendly watch. $500 for a automatic Swiss field watch, plus they sponsor movie like Interstellar. You can't compare it to Chinese or micro brands.
I bought this watch last December, wouldn't pay the £800 asking price but did find it for £560 (it's my third Hamilton). I understand what's being said about the lack of a seconds hand and the minimalist look of the dial but vintage styling is very much my thing and this has it in bucket loads. The hands align perfectly and the strap hasn't come apart, but with hand assembled items you are always going to come across imperfections - annoying as that is for this price range. I can't get over how slim it is for an automatic.
A Beauty .... I wish Hamilton would let go with some high beating movements instead of all these 80 hour slowed down movements....powermatic - I think thats what they call them. But thats just me.
Love a dress watch that is thin two-hander. But for my taste, I would rather go even thinner and put a quartz movement in. And the misaligned hands are unforgivable in a watch at this RRP (would be needled by them every time I looked at the watch at around the hour). On the positive side, those Patta tennis shoes look great.
I bought a Hamilton Jazzmaster Day Date at great price............and I sent it back, I so want to like Hamilton but they just doesn't do anything for me😥
Maybe you are after something with a little more flair? Hamiltons are lovely, but could be accused of being a little bland sometimes. They have many pretty watches, and some wacky ones too, but they depend on taste too.
Not only are the hands misaligned, but every picture you've shown has the date misaligned to the left. It may be because the camera is slightly to the right, but it would be reassuring to have a straight-on pic with the date showing in the centre.

I have several and love my Hamiltons
I think they are hard to beat at this price range.
I think this a real gem, my only complaint is the intra-matic font, its a bit blah. Other than that, I really like it.
Thats a good point!
Great review Dan of an all around classic dress watch. Absolutely lovely watch. Thank you for sharing 👍
Thanks Felo! It's such a classy watch. 👌
Reminds me of my Dad's old Timex watches - always a silver dial, but on a stretchy metal bracelet. Good vid. Keep at it!
Thanks Mark!

Yeah. Gotta have that second hand tbh
This is on my wish list of Hamiltons to collect over the next decade.
Great review Dan.
Thanks Chris, it's a beauty!
I have this watch, it's very beautiful but the power reserve is really poor in my experience, how is the power reserve holding up for you
Hi there! I had no issues tbh. Enjoy your lovely watch!

That is a beautiful watch, and a sensible price 👍 . If they swapped the date for small seconds at six, I would be very tempted.

Totally agree
It’s nice. Yet leans most to Bauhaus but in that genre I prefer Nomos/Stowa/Junghans. And as a vintage dressy watch I also prefer other options
I own the Intra-Matic Hamilton Chronograph Watch; it is stunning piece, cream colour dial, 27 jewels, and a screw on crown.
What a beauty! I have tried one in a jewellers, felt good!
Excellent value/quality ratio on Hamilton, had a few -gifted a Khaki King to a mate for his 50th, & Mrs has nicked another khaki King, had a 7750 x-wind but sold it before it needed a pricey service.

Thanks Steve! I have a terrible date remembering memory for sure.
Enough is enough Now let's mod that devil Thanks for sharing my friend 👍

Great idea, just shows how much a strap change can really boost the whole feel of a watch!

i have 2 Hamiltons, a Khaki navy gmt and a X-Wind 7750. highly recommend them, build quality and price cannot really be faulted
Very nice watches you got there, I was so tempted by the x wind.
Could we get an update on the hydro-mod Addiesdive? Still going strong?
The battery finally died a few weeks ago!
Good looking and classic. Expensive for what they are. That misalignment is shocking for a £725 watch. 🤷🏻♂️
Nice review again Dan.
My 38mm, silver dial, gold bezel is still perfectly aligned after 8 years.
That strap looks so good on that, what's the quirky name for that one on your store?
The Paddington!
Get a Ventura next...I bet you can do a cracking Elvis impersonation.
ThunkYaVurryMuch!
It is beautiful. Bought a Khaki King from Jomashop a few years ago, and it has been perfect. This is prettier tho...
You pay a lot for the name Hamilton....they need to upgrade their WR,on their field watches at least. Otherwise they make good looking watches 👍🏻
Hamilton is the most budget friendly watch. $500 for a automatic Swiss field watch, plus they sponsor movie like Interstellar. You can't compare it to Chinese or micro brands.
I disagree with white trainers go with anything. Lovely watch. Really smooooooth.

I agree, if this was a manual wind. they could have gone under 10mm!

Aye but no....I like the design bar the date complication....🏴⌚🏴⌚
I bought a Hamilton Jazzmaster Day Date at great price............and I sent it back, I so want to like Hamilton but they just doesn't do anything for me😥

I see what you mean now! Maybe the macro and angles really magnified a slight misalignment?
They do make some great looking watches.but for me they are all too expensive.
True, but they are swiss watches, and can often be found in the sales, which helps.
It's okay but I'd rather buy a Bambino and pocket the difference.
Misalignment.... oh dear, oh dear.... in a "Swiss" quality brand that's inexcusable. Junghans and Nomos do that better...
very nice... watch... my fav is Hamilton Watch Khaki Aviation Pilot Day Date Auto H64615135 cheers
