As far as the quality and profoundness of the message that the rapper is giving us, Andre is without question the greatest to ever do it. Every time I listen to him Im stuck there thinking "How in the world did he write this"... His consciousness is just on another level and his rapping sounds like music. Most rapping just sounds like aggressive poetry, Andre always sounds like a damn piano mixed with a harp mixed with a saxophone mixed with about 100 other things. Hes a genius whos rapping was always about being better than your circumstance, finding whats beautiful in life, doing whats right and not making excuses for yourself. His rap is philosophy and love. He is the GOAT.

First off the argument is if A3k is the greatest rapper not the greatest solo artist...so he qualifies for the discussion. Next how do you define greatest. To me the greatest would be defined by high quality bars, high variation in style/cadence and style of beat, impact on the game, sales, longevity of legacy, and respect among peers. I honestly don't see who tops 3000. The guy put the South on his back for lyricism, then put the entire Rap game on his back and literally destroyed the boundaries of what a rapper could say, sing, how he could dress, how they produced, etc. Andre 3000 IS the GOAT. No other rapper has ever successfully reconstructed and redifined the boundaries of hip hop like Andre 3000, I challenge anyone to say that any other rapper has done what he has done. His legacy lived on through Lil' Wayne and Young Thug, Kendrick, Kid Cudi, Kanye, Lady Gaga...etc.

spainman2020 Most rappers that have been mentioned in the category of GOAT are legitimately great! Biggie, Pac, Jay, Em, A3k, Nas, Pun, G Rap, Rakim, KRS One, I even throw Lupe Fiasco in the bunch, him and others get left out but it goes to show you that there are so many elite level stratospheric level MC's or lyricists, but this attribute among all of the other attributes that we use for greatness is actually much more attainable than the other measurements mentioned in my previous post. 99% of the elite level rappers are lyrically phenomenal no question and could probably tie for first on lyricism. But take the other elements and compare them to Andre 3000 and they come up short without much of an argument.
bigdap100 True. It sort of also shows the down south biases that people have, if Outkast were NY rappers I dare to say they'd be in more discussions, and thats coming from a NY rap loving dude. Its easy to say hes one of the best in the south, but put him in a Nas/Em/Pac/Jay
conversation and many would be like woah hold on... but the truth is u got a point,and we could easily put together a quick 100 list of elite emcees... Black Thought, both De La emcees, Most Def... even Luda.
Whats tripping me out is reading through comments of people saying he aint top 5 or hell to one person... top 30. Im like these folks are either crazy or really dont have an ear for who is truly gifted in the craft of putting words to together to communicate a thought thats worth digesting.
it's not that I completely disagree with this comment, but I honestly think this is a slap in the face to Big Boi. Andre is great, but Big Boi has also made major contributions to those albums. Not only did he add a harder edge, he was the one coming up with song concepts and writing a lot of the hooks. I'll even go as far as to say a lot of his verses were on par with Andre's and sometimes even better.
