That looks like a fun gun. I think I'd rather have the 18 inch barrel with it, but maybe the sixteen inch is better. What is the total length of the rifle with the sixteen inch barrel? I like the idea of a 10/22 that would fit in a backpack without having to be broken down.
Right after I watched this I went to buy some ammo online and there you were on the box haha. I was glad to see there were some choices on the shelf compared to last time I looked
Very cool design. It does suck tho because i am a southpaw shooter so I couldn’t use that one unless they make them in left handed! But a great informative video!
Have you turned any of your 10-22's into a shot shell only? I had an old barrel and removed 95% of the rifling. Gone is the O-ring shot pattern, but you can not use solids any more, (tumbling). Works great! 👍
Quite the neat rig. Unfortunately I don't own a 10/22 already so I'd have to purchase both just to get it and that's a draw back. If I had one lying around though, this would be a fun build.
Looks crazy lol I wonder if that would be annoying having the barrel closer and firing pin and ejector that close to your face(especially with no ears on when hunting). And/or if it would send hot casings into your elbow pit somewhat often.
3:22 "If you can get your Ruger 10/22 to run well..." That is certainly a challenge. It barely crimps the case. I really like the Archangel 5.56 Pistol Stock. Unfortunately they don't like that around here.
If you're on the fence just do it. There are p90 kits, precision chassis, wood stocks, and everything in between. With a binary trigger it's crazy fast, or go the precision route and really piss off the cz guys when you outshoot them at 100+ yards.
I'm a little concerned about the barell being recessed cause I have the 16" . Dandahermit. Do you think it's worth the price?? You are the go to guy for opinion. Dandahermit new sub
You can convert 10/22's to last round hold open. I also think its stupid they dont come that way. There are some video's on doing it yourself or buying the piece and installing it. Well, there used to be, doob toobs hates that content now.
I have the Arlys K22 bullpup. It makes the 1022 a little heavier but significantly shorter. The trigger is pretty bad. The worst part is The magazine release is not very good, a lot of hang ups in spite of a lot of fiddling. The BX 25 magazines are hard to manipulate.

It was so cool I almost wanted to buy one until I realised something... You would have to unscrew 10 screws to disassemble the chassis, take out the rifle and then take the action pins apart for cleaning. Best I go with an Enoch Industries Odin Chassis with a Fletcher action and a CMC match grade trigger. Far easier to maintain. Binary trigger would be sweet.
I waited for friggen ever for mine.... i spend 2 days deburring the plastic and smoothing the joints. the only issue i had is the rearmost pin would not come out of my brand new 10/22... so i could not install a bolt release and the rear screw has not been installed for the stock.... it seems to work fine. im super happy with the trigger(of course I'm comparing it to other bullpups not a stock 10/22) I have sights on it from an airsoft AEG STYRE AUG. it was the only lightweight iron sight i could find at the time and it was only $20... all my friends love it but no one wants to spend the money for their own.
It seems like your accuracy suffered using that bullpup. I've never seen you miss so much. Is it just because you're not used to the ergonomics? The trigger? What do you say plinkster?
Doesn’t seems so, since the charging handle is right where your face would be as well as the ejection of the brass casings. As long as you’re physically able to operate with both hands and I say shoot it right handed and if you’re left eye dominant like me put on an eyepatch it’s what I’ve done before.
One engineer asks another " How can we traumatize left handed youth" Engineer number 2 responds let's take a youth rifle and make eject brass in their eyeballs that will teach them"
And ironically, a lot of right handed people are left eye dominant! For what it is worth, the Beretta carbine and the AUG have reversable ejection, and maybe the Kel-Tec CM30 and PM30 too, and there others also..............................elsullo
If you can find one the Tanfoglio appeal has a reversable bolt, ejection port and extractor. Have to keep track of where the shell casings go. I had one land on the inside of my trigger arm right on the crease of my upper and forearm. Second degree blister.
Man, it looks so compact and ergonomic. Looks like a competent home defense gun. Maybe you all disagree because the caliber isn't known for it's stopping power but because it is easier to use.
I got one on release, I don't hate it but I'm certainly not impressed with the way the receiver rides in the stock. but it is mad comfortable, in terms of ergos in my opinion it's second to the rdb. very comfortable.
My buddy wears a hat that says, "It's OK to have too much fun". He lived his philosophy until he & his neighbor were drinking Bombay Sapphire Gin on a Sunday night. They both had a heart attack on Monday! That little bullpup looks like more fun & much less detrimental to your health. lol

I imagine they called it the Trek-22 because they imagined people using it when they go trekking (or hiking) and hunting for small game... but I just can't get over how it looks like a rifle a Starfleet ensign would use in an episode of mid-to-late nineties Star Trek
Ha I’m watching Star Trek right now 😂
I know what's going on my Christmas list this year. If I can wait that look.
Desert Tech needs to come out with a bull pup chassis for the Ruger American bolt action .22lr that accepts the 10-22 magazine's. Now that would be a nice setup.
brazzy146 ~Yes! "Much less" chance of breathing in gunpowder gasses into a person's lungs with a bolt-action. Also a semi-auto is NOT the best bush survival rifle to hunt for food because of "less reliability" and a 22LR rapid-fire ammo waister is not needed.
~I live in an isolated very rural heavy bush area and I have a Ruger American rimfire "stainless steel bolt-action" 22LR that accepts the 10/22 rotary magazines which is my go to 22LR to use for survival and hunting for small game meat.
~Also for grouse, red squirrels, and rabbits a powerful lightweight accurate 22 cal. "air gun" with a small fixed power scope is a good way to go.
I’d love a bullpup chassis for a bolty just cause I was unfortunately born Australian and it’s hard to get a 10/22 here
@@thomasa5619 Sounds like you need a bunch of bigger guns to solve that problem 😉
My first rifle I got in 1984 and I was 10 years old, it was a Ruger 10-22. Still have it and love that rifle.
wow. I've disliked every bullpup conversion I've ever held, let alone fired, but this one might be worth trying, esp for the price.
The quick clarification about knowing it’s a magazine before the comment section went berserk was great. 😆
That looks like a fun gun. I think I'd rather have the 18 inch barrel with it, but maybe the sixteen inch is better. What is the total length of the rifle with the sixteen inch barrel? I like the idea of a 10/22 that would fit in a backpack without having to be broken down.
16” barrel is 26.75” OAL to satisfy ATF. Minimum OAL 26”
Dude that’s something new something I haven’t seen before good job plinkster
A 10-22 with a suppressor has quite a bit of blow back at the ejection port. Now that powder is much closer to your eyes.
Wear shooting glasses
I like this chassis a lot but what this video really taught me is that I need to get me some 22 tracers.
I was hesitant at first but after watching I guess I am going to have to find another 10/22. What about different colors?
Reminds me of a project from a Louisiana company. They made it as a “zombie apocalypse” weapon. ZK-22.
Right after I watched this I went to buy some ammo online and there you were on the box haha. I was glad to see there were some choices on the shelf compared to last time I looked
I LOVED the plinking making that jingle
Very cool design. It does suck tho because i am a southpaw shooter so I couldn’t use that one unless they make them in left handed! But a great informative video!
Can't believe they haven't made a lefthanded model.
@@Grim0954 desert tech, or Ruger? I think there are some lefty uppers available, but they will cost you your first born.
All they would really have to do is re direct the shells straight down though the charging handle will be in the way or make a short charging handle
omg I love the musical plates. Thanks for the idea.
Have you turned any of your 10-22's into a shot shell only?
I had an old barrel and removed 95% of the rifling. Gone is the O-ring shot pattern, but you can not use solids any more, (tumbling). Works great! 👍
That's a really cool idea.
Sounds good for little critters.
I have this stock and put in a Volquartsen Target Hammer kit and it much improved the trigger.
This rifle looks really nice, indeed like a star wars laser rifle))
Yeah, kinda what the Stom Troopers use!
Ooh, I love those musical target plates!
I honestly kinda liked it and the mag compartments. But the grip killed it for me
Yeah I'm not huge fan of that grip, let's the setup down some
Agreed
Why?
I've tried it, It seems weird, but it works well.
Helps you really suck the gun into the shoulder and control it.
Quite the neat rig.
Unfortunately I don't own a 10/22 already so I'd have to purchase both just to get it and that's a draw back.
If I had one lying around though, this would be a fun build.
If it comes in white , they could use it in the next StarWars movie !
Krylon makes all colors...
Plasti dip spray
That's very cool! Being blind in my right eye and shooting lefthanded saved me the money buying one, lol.
Looks crazy lol
I wonder if that would be annoying having the barrel closer and firing pin and ejector that close to your face(especially with no ears on when hunting). And/or if it would send hot casings into your elbow pit somewhat often.
Especially for shooting left handed.
@@wes326 Lol! That would be funny to see.
Closed top Browning sa22-style bottom ejection is my personal favorite.
@@danielgillooly2748 Bottom ejection and a tang safety would be great.
3:22 "If you can get your Ruger 10/22 to run well..." That is certainly a challenge. It barely crimps the case. I really like the Archangel 5.56 Pistol Stock. Unfortunately they don't like that around here.
This feels like something that could have been 3D-printed for $20 in filament.
Tevor type trigger linkage, pulls instead of pushing. Good choice.
Very nice, personally would love one but they arent offered for left handed shooters.
I FORKIN LOVE THIS CHASSIS!!! NEEEDSDD ITTTT
This may be what gets me into a 10/22
If you're on the fence just do it. There are p90 kits, precision chassis, wood stocks, and everything in between. With a binary trigger it's crazy fast, or go the precision route and really piss off the cz guys when you outshoot them at 100+ yards.
@@nk-dw2hm cool. Tikka T1x is more my speed.
I'm a little concerned about the barell being recessed cause I have the 16" . Dandahermit. Do you think it's worth the price?? You are the go to guy for opinion. Dandahermit new sub
I would call it a chassis. Sadly I don't own a 10/22. Not really sadly, the no last round bolt hold open always turns me off.
That and damned if the mags aren't hard to pull out.
You can convert 10/22's to last round hold open. I also think its stupid they dont come that way.
There are some video's on doing it yourself or buying the piece and installing it.
Well, there used to be, doob toobs hates that content now.
This looks like it should be used in a low budget science fiction movie.
Would love to see this compared to the p90 chassis for the 10/22
I have the Arlys K22 bullpup. It makes the 1022 a little heavier but significantly shorter. The trigger is pretty bad. The worst part is The magazine release is not very good, a lot of hang ups in spite of a lot of fiddling. The BX 25 magazines are hard to manipulate.
@@stevemiller7433 oh good lord the trigger is awful on it. Felt like a 15 lb break on the trigger. just pull and pull.
Everything about it was awkward to me. Didn't even feel balanced well.
Thanks alot 22plinkster! You just cost me another $299 that I was not planning on spending!
It’s a Ruger that’s why it’s the best and it’s the AR of .22’s!
Man, I love taking 11 screws out every time I want to clean my rifle.
My first thoughts
Big facts.
Bore snake and you're good to go.
@@eastrauss2840 that would work for cleaning the bore. But that's not all of the parts that need maintenance on a 10/22.
what do you need to clean that often?
"Yes that's a clip, I know that is a magazine" That made me laugh :)
How would you compare this to the Aklys Defense ZK-22?
Wow what an interesting bullpup kit! Love your channel brother...keep on keeping on. Also I'd like to know where to get tracer in .22....any info would be much appreciated. JW Barker(HM2/USN?FMF?Recon)
What type of ammo are you using? Pretty neat to see the rounds going towards the target.
Probably green mountain tracers
Tracers are terrible for accuracy but still fun to watch.
That's what I was wondering.
I love the design! Havent tried that one yet out in the range. I wish I could!!
Cool but how does it compare to a 10/22 charger with a brace?
Excellent question.
omg that looks like so much fun.
idc what dude-bro's say, little plinkers like this are soooo much fun
It's cool. The stock is way too short on the length of pull. At least for a grown human being.
The grip is pretty terrible too.
@@joshuagibson2520 the LOP is the same, and the grip angle too.
@@coldboremirakle make sense. A standard 1022 is short on me too. I'm gorilla sized like Dave though, so that doesn't help.
"To be honest with you" has really run its course!
It seems like your accuracy suffered using that bullpup.
I've never seen you miss so much. Is it just because you're not used to the ergonomics? The trigger?
What do you say plinkster?
I'd say definitely the trigger.
It was probably from the tracers he was using. Those have terrible accuracy and consistency.
@@SW0000A Those tracers are horrible. he had fliers everywhere! hahaha
@@chatnasty The trigger is surprisingly good in these setups. Just a bit mushy take up and then it just pulls slightly heavier than stock.
This fitting that ruger PCC 9mm or 22 mag would be epic.
I’ll just stick w/my stock 10/22 wood furniture 👍
Love the way the basic wood stock 10/22s look. Classic in my eye.
@@paulross9287 are you from Dayton Ohio ?
Suhhhhweeeeet. Love this.
Any options for left-handed shooters?
Doesn’t seems so, since the charging handle is right where your face would be as well as the ejection of the brass casings. As long as you’re physically able to operate with both hands and I say shoot it right handed and if you’re left eye dominant like me put on an eyepatch it’s what I’ve done before.
I never liked the idea of a high pressure explosion directly against my head (i.e. bullpups...) but somehow this .22lr bullpup is very intriguing.
It's a tiny 22 lr explosion :) Get the rubber/plastic bolt buffer which should help as well.
Is the grip sponsored by California?
Bravo, If you ever get “Bored” I would love to see what ya did with the other 39.
how to abuse southpaws 101
One engineer asks another " How can we traumatize left handed youth" Engineer number 2 responds let's take a youth rifle and make eject brass in their eyeballs that will teach them"
And ironically, a lot of right handed people are left eye dominant! For what it is worth, the Beretta carbine and the AUG have reversable ejection, and maybe the Kel-Tec CM30 and PM30 too, and there others also..............................elsullo
It seems to be grossly inaccurate.
How would a stock change accuracy?
I bought one of the first ones and it would not retain zero. Was very excited about it but ended up returning it.
Not friendly to us lefties haha
Yes like companies go out of their way to find ways to make our lives harder
If you can find one the Tanfoglio appeal has a reversable bolt, ejection port and extractor. Have to keep track of where the shell casings go. I had one land on the inside of my trigger arm right on the crease of my upper and forearm. Second degree blister.
@@Perry2186 Maybe if you lot were still having the devil-handedness beaten out of you in school you wouldn't have these "problems".
Man, it looks so compact and ergonomic. Looks like a competent home defense gun. Maybe you all disagree because the caliber isn't known for it's stopping power but because it is easier to use.
Not for $300
I got one on release, I don't hate it but I'm certainly not impressed with the way the receiver rides in the stock. but it is mad comfortable, in terms of ergos in my opinion it's second to the rdb. very comfortable.
That is the ugliest stock I’ve ever seen. Pro mag stock looks so much better. IMHO
So glad he is being honest with us.
Not lefty approved, adios
love it with the tracers. neat little package too
My buddy wears a hat that says, "It's OK to have too much fun". He lived his philosophy until he & his neighbor were drinking Bombay Sapphire Gin on a Sunday night. They both had a heart attack on Monday! That little bullpup looks like more fun & much less detrimental to your health. lol
