    whats your opinion on spring rush and rushing as a second year? Is it still a good idea?

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  8 лет назад +3

      My school is on the quarter system so the only time that every sorority does recruitment is in the fall. Winter and spring are only certain chapters depending on if they can accept more members or not. So I'm not sure how it is at your school but I would suggest rushing in the fall! That way you can get the full year in your sorority as well as get to meet all of the houses. Also, rushing as a second year is super common and totally fine! Tons of my sisters came in as second (or even third) years and we love them all the same haha :)

    Tysm for making this video! I will be attending UCI this fall and was wondering how recruitment works. I would love to see the recruitment outfit video! Does recruitment occur the first day of class or a few weeks afterwards?

      So glad you enjoyed it! At UCI it starts the same day as classes which this year is Thursday September 22nd :) www.ucipanhellenic.com/

    Hi Niki! I love this video, it was super helpful. I just wanted to know what questions do you recommend asking when visiting houses and talking to the girls? Thanks!

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  8 лет назад +1

      Hi Isabella! So glad you enjoyed the video! I would suggest asking questions about things you actually want to know. Like when I went through I asked them about how hands on they were with their philanthropy, what kinds of scholarships they offered, and just what made them different from all of the other houses. You can also ask the girls what their favorite part of their sorority is, what a normal day is like, etc! Whatever will help you make a good decision about if you will fit into that house or not. Hope that helps :)

    What if you don’t get any bids? I’m scared of feeling really connected to a house and thinking I’d fit in really well but then not getting in... Great video by the way, it’s super informative! I’m going to uci this fall :)

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  5 лет назад

      Congrats on getting into UCI, you're going to love it!! I wouldn't stress too much about it. They do a really great job of making sure you do get a bid somewhere as long as you're keeping your options open. My best advice is to keep an open mind!! Many people I know didn't get their first choice house but ended up loving their sorority. There are amazing girls that you can connect with in every chapter :) Good luck!!

    Are you guaranteed a house if you go through the process? I’m nervous on not getting into a house ):

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  6 лет назад +1

      Hey Crystal! I believe that it depends on the school, but usually if you maximize your options and really focus on which house you/your personality feels most at home in, you will do fine! don't stress :)

    How does the moving in process work? Like let's say if recruitment is the first week of school and I'm a transfer student how would that all work? Would you pay to stay in a dorm the first week and if you do end up in a sorority you move into the sorority???

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  8 лет назад +2

      At my school you usually wouldn't move into your sorority house until the year after you join! During my freshman year, I moved into the dorms on a Saturday and then recruitment started the following Thursday as well as class. It all depends on how your school does it!

    I'm transfering to a university from a community college and plan on rushing but I worried I'm too old to rush! Did u have any girls who were 21 rushing?

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  7 лет назад +2

      You're definitely not too old! Its very common for transfers to go through recruitment especially at my school. Go for it! :)

    Just a question how do people go to classes during rush week? Do they miss them to go to the houses and such instead?!

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  8 лет назад

      It all depends on your schedule! I missed most of my classes when I was rushing just because they were huge lectures and it wasn't super important for me to be there the first day BUT you should definitely go to class if you're worried about it! Usually you would just have to submit a note to your RC and/or the houses that you're missing that day to say you have class! Every school probably has a different way of doing it :)

    This video was upset helpful! I'm hoping to join a sorority this fall at UCI, but wondering how costly is it to be in a sorority?

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  8 лет назад

      Being in a sorority does cost money but there are payment plans and scholarships which make it more affordable! A lot of people work to pay dues (myself included) so it's definitely possible :)

    Hi I was wondering how time consuming being in a sorority is? I heard that it's like another part time job, and being in college, I would always want to put school first. So would not attending an event because you're studying be frowned upon in a soriority? Thanks!

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  8 лет назад

      Hi Claudia! Being in a sorority can be really time consuming but that's just because there are so many options of things to do every week! You don't have to go to everything though, so if you're studying for a big test one week, you can definitely skip stuff to work on that. School is always the number one priority :) Basically it just depends on how many things you want to participate in

    I'm a transfer student so I'll be going in as a junior at my university but I'll have 4 years at the school do you think that'll limit my ability to rush? Do chapters look down on non-traditional students?

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  7 лет назад +1

      It depends on the University but from my understanding it doesn't limit you at all! Especially if you have 4 years there. Sororities just want committed members who will contribute during their time in the chapter! I would say go for it :)

    I am an older, so-called nontraditional student who is planning to return to school next year and would like to pledge a sorority. What advice do you have for me? I am over 50 but I feel the greek life is something that would make my school experience better.

    When I go to a house and meet the girls in the sorority should I shake the girls hand that talks to me?! I wasn't sure if that's weird or not 😂 I'm going to a west coast school btw !

    • @nikidetrich
      @nikidetrich  7 лет назад +1

      Haha yeah definitely if you want! They'll most likely try to shake your hand so just go for it. Don't stress too much girl, just treat it like a normal conversation you would have in class or at a party or something :)
