I love those fabrics, also! The 5 1/4” pieces are perfect for a cell phone case that I make with a zippered pocket and cross body strap. They are one of my most popular products.
Book/writing journal covers. Pouches for playing cards, game pieces, dice, etc. Golf club-head covers. Pieced-together placemats, table runners, pillow covers. Straps for bags, totes, cameras, and various other projects. Pet collars and leashes.
I would love to see you make some mug rugs! I think the upholstery fabric would make them really unique! You can use some plain cotton fabric as the backing.and if you want to line them you could or you could or you could use a dark enough backing fabric to not need a lining. They are small enough that you could make them with just 2 or even 3 pieces for each mug rug. If you cut the fabric at the hole you could make simple key fobs with the little piece of scrap fabric.
A few ideas I’d like to see: 1.) an organizer with elastic perhaps to put on a cars sun visor for receipts, pens, gum, etc. 2.) a small round padded coaster insert for our cars cup holder 3.) mug rugs 4.) flower pot cozies 🌸🩵 ENJOY your holiday!!

I would love you to make: - bible (or notebook) carrier/ cover - elastic penholder for notebook (with zip) - snap shut (sun)glasses case (snap made with a cut up tapemeasure) - mug bag (a little protactive bag to take your own coffee/tea mug) - tissue box cover I wish you a nice trip.

I would recommend if you do get these to make sure you wear eye protection and next time I’m wearing gloves as I knicked myself on the wood. One of the silk ones I got had lovely screws easy peasy. Christine do you get silk samples looking for some inspiration some of mine are smaller ❤
just use some grommets to finish off the holes... then go for it. design feature, puppy bags ? maybe not right location. Have a fun trip to the farm, I'll be here waiting to see what all the already 600+ suggestions are.
Hi from Chicago, love your channel, I've learned a lot from you. Since your shopping bags dropped to the 2nd spot, why not quilt it? Instead of cutting off the area with the hole, use a stud, thinking metal as they come in different colors, or a button, to cover it as that way there is no fabric waste and the studs, or button, give a bit of bling, and the bag is now multi purpose.
Port pillow that fits over the car safety belt for a cancer patient or anyone receiving infusions through a port. Your fabric is the perfect size. Your followers could make them also for their city. Teach us how.
So many fabric, so many ideas..I made a lovely tote years ago made up with 5 inch squares on point hard to describe but I'll find a picture of it and send it. 😊
A quilt pattern tapestry would be beautiful! The pieces could be larger to be able to see the individual patterns. I absolutely love the colors! I think I will contact stores in my area to see if I can get their throw-aways. Thank you for the inspiration!!!
Purse or wallet. Smallish cross-body bag. Photo frames. Cushion cover. Wallhanging. Book cover (that you can insert a book eg diary into). Little drawstring pouch, or flat pocket, for holding gifts eg soap, jewellery. Maybe the hole could be used to insert a press stud or eyelet?
Lovely fabrics some indoor toilet roll holders heat pads potholders or something to put your glasses or your roller cutter etc little nick knacks if you are going to a quilt or sewing class covers for your cutting mat etc have a nice trip
Bean bag type toys. I like the mug rug idea too. A simple fold over wallet would be nice, with the hole covered over with a button or snap closure..using a fabric loop. Golf club covers. Trash bags for the car. One of those arm rest sewing type things. Note pad cover/holder.
Lol, waiting expectantly! They are beautiful pieces! Great colors! Thank you. No new ideas, I really am a copy bug, lol, all your bags and projects are great! Okay, the phone bags! Have a blessed rest time!
Hello Christine, Glad to see you have recovered well from your surgery. You had me worried though trying to pull apart the sample book glad you got Chris to come to the rescue. Here are some suggestions Serviette holders 2 lined squares stitched together with one cnr turned back, good for stopping serviettes from flying away on picnics could also put a weight of some sort in them. Placemats, coasters, Door stoppers, Stand up pencil case, Jewelery travel pouch or case To utilise the holes you could make Key ring covers , put eyelet or grommet over hole & that can be where the cord pulls through. Drawstring bag or bucket bag & again use the holes to put the grommets which the cord goes through. Whatever you make with them the hole could also be the spot where you sew your labels or a patch/ embellishment. Look forward to see what you end up making with them. Enjoy your well earned break 😀
The bigger pieces would make great pouches for charger and and plugs etc. And where the hole is put a magnetic button when you make sun/reading glasses case or phone cover. Have fun sorting the suggestions. I'm sure that whatever you chhoose to sew will be brilliant as there are just so many items that will keep you sewing for ages. Patchwork tote bags would be great .
What a job you had taking those fabrics apart. I guess because it's a thicker fabric it limits what you can make with them. Of course the usual 'strips' sewn together shopping bags was my first thought. The smaller pieces with a hole could be used for the doggy bags. Pencil cases - fabric already cut to size. I've recently been making cross-body phone bags - again, this fabric already cut to size. I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions. Enjoy your break away ⏳🌞🌈
I think it would make a great mat! maybe mounted on a canvas backing? I had a book of larger pieces and I made some very sturdy square shopping bags by matching the colour ways they have lasted very well and get a lot of positive comments!
Wow. That was hard work getting them free from the staples and nails. !! Would they be suitable to make rugs like for at the front or back door, or aren’t they thick enough. Maybe storage boxes, back packs for the kids for school. A knitting bag. Kind of like draped over wooden doweling (hard to explain lol). A magazine rack in the same kind of fashion. Using a frame of some sort. So good they didn’t go to landfill what a waste. Enjoy your few days away. Xx
I would leave the paper on the backs and create a huge patchwork rug. Or several smaller ones. I like machining decorative stitching over the top and leaving the raw edges raw.
You could make a shoe bag for dancing (I did ballroom awhile ago and had a bag that held my shoes and brush) as well as sewing and overlocker mat you can put under your machine for the serger to catch the offcuts and sewing machine to hold scissors and bits and bobs. I looked at some of my scraps and some would be cute dolls house for furniture or flooring. I’m going to make barbie size cushions with my smaller offcuts. Storage baskets or pin cushions.
I have done much of that job too! Those sample books are a great job indeed 👍 And after a long job the pity is that many samples go useless after peeling the paper tape off and washing
I make a gusseted phone case. It can actually hold 2 cell phones with a few other small items but is thin and small. The hole can be where the snap closure goes or a decorative tie. I'd like to see a case to carry a Bible so you'd have to reconstruct some. Some contrasting colors could make pockets for pens, bulletins, etc. I'd like to see a crayon and a separate colored pencil/drawing pencil case like your tool roll up. Much smaller but holding many more items that are much smaller. Probably with an elastic band holder inside.
Patchwork cushion covers lined with a zip. Gift bags with ribbon thread through the holes. I have been making large shopping bags for the food Bank but didn't have to work around holes!
We're just going into winter, so my ideas are wintry: Under door draft stoppers and small hand warmers (filled with rice to heat up) to pop into coat pockets. Also neck pillows for travel (like the "bone" style pillows). Or jar openers (using some shelf liner as the grippy bits). Is the fabric washable? If so, placemats or trivets would be nice.
I read the comments and many were on my list as well. But, what I was wondering is...the blouse you are wearing! It is beautiful! Do you have a pattern for it 🤔???
I was wondering the same!! Please let us know which ones you do make, and pattern number etc>>> Anyway it’s pretty and styled for mature women! The styles out there are not for me! @@ChristinesHomeAffairs
@@ChristinesHomeAffairsmy mum just recently bought a top she liked and made a pattern out of it and made 4 copies. She’s very clever I never inherited her skill for dressmaking but do patchwork and embroidery.
Hi Christine, I got my first free sample fabrics. I watched with interest in how you took the book apart. That's what I'm struggling with now. Any suggestions in how to get the books apart? Thanks, Christine.
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Thanks, Christine, yes, used a very hot iron with steam. Worked great! Thanks for all your videos, I really enjoy watching them.
Passport wallet with rfid liner & clip. Minimalist ID & cash wallet with rfid lining & clip. For the directional artichoke pattern, perhaps gather them all and make a table runner with all the colors.
Thanks Debbie. Fortunately these get donated to me as people know I like to rescue fabric. I have a "free fabric" playlist that will help you source the fabric😀
Journal or notebook/ memo pad. A bullet journal or some kind of calendar or agenda planner maybe put in a way so it doesn't necessarily have to do with 2024 but could be used anytime.
Quilt block pillow shams would be pretty. Quilt block tote bags, there are even some other totes the long thin pieces could make. I don't know how to share a link! But, they would work perfectly. Then the smaller pieces could make the card holders. My pattern has less folding, less bulk, but the hole could work for the snap. Those are beautiful swatches. I have different customers than you, but potholders are always a big seller. I've got 4 go to patterns for that, depending on my fabric.
Variation on advent calendar with less pockets - all year round gift for crafty friends - could put small sewing or card making items in pockets Pegbags! Key wallets - button on top of existing punched hole with Velcro fastening - perfect for arthritic hands. Not sure about metal hardware to hold keys inside? Maybe little pockets?
Hi Christine. How about some "phone sling pouches" the ones with the plastic press studs/ poppers closure. So the holes are already in the right place. Enjoy your few days away. Regards Trudy from South Africa. ❤
If the material isn't too thick to join pieces you could make purses or bags that have 2 fabrics joined so it gets big enough to be a shoulder bag or other kind of bag. Also this material may work nice with its thickness to make containers like squares or rounds to put things in.
I bought a wobbly Lane brand recliner from the HFH Re-Store for $5 about two years ago. Couldnt repair the mechanism and then the dog chewed up one of the legs. So before I dumped it, I stripped off a whole lot of the jacquard tapestry fabric, it's the high quality stuff that retails for $50-75 per yard. it has a blue in it that matches denim jeans perfectly. I have all sorts of ideas for things to make out of these pieces
Hi Christine having watched your recent video about your top sellers, I instantly thought with the smaller sets you could make doggy ooo pouches. As your lovely supermarket bags have dropped to No.2 perhaps you could use the other bigger pieces to slightly reinvent them by sewing maybe 2 or 3 pieces together per side to make a slightly bigger supermarket bag? Hope you have a good rest in the farm. My suggestions coming from the U.K.
I’m thinking a purse, use an old sheet for the lining. It is much more durable! Then, use the small pieces to cover a pair of simple ‘angel pumps’ to coordinate. Finally, still using coordinates from the first group, make a ht! You should have a hat, purse and shoes that coordinate! If you still have any matching colors/patterns, use them as collars and cuffs for a solid jacket.
Patchwork floor mats, made in different shapes, square, diamond, oblong, triangle even hexagonal. All would be straight lines and no wastage, backed with any non slip fabric you could make a few from 0ne book of samples. A box shaped open top bag for small sewing/ knitting /crochet projects with handles. Good luck with all these ideas from everyone, they will keep you busy this winter.
Have you thought about some sort of braid rug? The tines coordinate. Your commercial machine could zig zag the fabric tubes. Thinking in front of kitchen sink or the stove size.
Hi Christine, I also have collected discarded upholstery samples. Would you please share how you get the paper/cardboard off the back of the samples. All of us in our guild boutique committee are watching your videos and trying to come up with sellable items. You’re the best! Thanks so much for sharing all your wisdom and creativity. 💝💝💝
I did a video some time back with different things that i tried to remove fabric. The best success I've had is with a very hot iron. Use teflon sheet or baking paper for protection of fabric though. I do leave paper in if I can't remove it 😁
I use 2 different methods, hot iron, as Christine uses her whizzy heat press or if your not in a hurry, stick them in the freezer for a month or so. When I did this they peeled off very easily. However I can’t guarantee that this will always work. Good luck!
Today it’s hot and tried leaving them in the sun, seems to work just need to know how long. Tomorrow it’s going to be 38 degrees shouldn’t take too long…
Stuffed toys might be nice, Frog beanbags, neck warmers different sizes filled with rice. I love your sewing ideas. I also have a lot of these fabric swatch books and that’s how I found your channel on RUclips. Still haven’t had a lot of luck getting the paper off them. Some come off easy and some just won’t. Still, I plan to use them. GreatGrandma from North Carolina. 😊
@@ChristinesHomeAffairsjust thought of an idea re papers. Orange spray works for getting price stickers off for my eBay store, maybe try using the orange spray to unstick the glue? I’ll try this tomorrow and report back…
All in one: space for cell phone, cash and card wallet, holder for water bottle, and pocket for ear buds. Something that could fit in a larger bag or on its own. I exercise and then shop at a grocery after. The wallet I've made is awkward.
Do some bag with all same background and different prints, then have some strips with same pattern and different color backgrounds. Phone case, zip bags or larger stips for market bags.
Spoiler alert! I had a lady come into the shop yesterday. She wants me to copy her handbag, and add more pockets to the dozens already in there. That will be a huge project😁

Journal or notebook/ memo pad. A bullet journal or some kind of calendar or agenda planner maybe put in a way so it doesn't necessarily have to do with 2024 but could be used anytime.
Thank you for the great ideas😀
I’m thinking some patchwork memory bears 🐻
That would be so adorable Leigh. Thank you😀
Crossbody bags with zippers.
I definitely need more of those Eva. Thank you😀
Quilt block pillow shams would be pretty.
Thanks for the ideas Sharon. If you're on Facebook, you can join our group of the same name, and share the link there😀
Variation on advent calendar with less pockets - all year round gift for crafty friends - could put small sewing or card making items in pockets
Pegbags!
Key wallets - button on top of existing punched hole with Velcro fastening - perfect for arthritic hands. Not sure about metal hardware to hold keys inside? Maybe little pockets?
Thanks for the ideas Mary😀
Hi Christine. How about some "phone sling pouches" the ones with the plastic press studs/ poppers closure. So the holes are already in the right place. Enjoy your few days away. Regards Trudy from South Africa. ❤
Great idea Trudy. Thank you😀
If the material isn't too thick to join pieces you could make purses or bags that have 2 fabrics joined so it gets big enough to be a shoulder bag or other kind of bag. Also this material may work nice with its thickness to make containers like squares or rounds to put things in.
The fabric will be perfect for that Carolyn 😀
I bought a wobbly Lane brand recliner from the HFH Re-Store for $5 about two years ago. Couldnt repair the mechanism and then the dog chewed up one of the legs. So before I dumped it, I stripped off a whole lot of the jacquard tapestry fabric, it's the high quality stuff that retails for $50-75 per yard. it has a blue in it that matches denim jeans perfectly.
I have all sorts of ideas for things to make out of these pieces
What a great upcycle project you've got there😀
Hi Christine having watched your recent video about your top sellers, I instantly thought with the smaller sets you could make doggy ooo pouches.
Thanks for the great ideas Gerry😀
Wine bottle sleeve with a drawstring
Ah, I've been thinking about this for a while too. Thank you😀
I’m thinking a purse, use an old sheet for the lining.
Thanks for the great ideas Jane😁
Bucket hats.
Placemats would look nice,Coasters or some Cutlery wraps/bags for on table at a special family Gathering
Thanks Carol. I actually have a cutlery/placemat idea in mind😀
oh good ,cant wait for your creations and videos@@ChristinesHomeAffairs
Patchwork floor mats, made in different shapes, square, diamond, oblong, triangle even hexagonal. All would be straight lines and no wastage, backed with any non slip fabric you could make a few from 0ne book of samples.
A box shaped open top bag for small sewing/ knitting /crochet projects with handles.
Good luck with all these ideas from everyone, they will keep you busy this winter.
Thanks Judy. I certainly won't be bored any time soon😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I was thinking of a door mat size.
Have you thought about some sort of braid rug? The tines coordinate. Your commercial machine could zig zag the fabric tubes. Thinking in front of kitchen sink or the stove size.
That's a great idea Beth. I've actually had this in mind for other fabric😀
use for making check books.
Great idea Myrna. Do people still use check books?😀
Thanks Pat. Some of the paper is very stubborn. If a hot iron doesn't work for me, I'll use it as is😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairsjust thought of an idea re papers. Orange spray works for getting price stickers off for my eBay store, maybe try using the orange spray to unstick the glue? I’ll try this tomorrow and report back…
I would like to add a patchwork curtain. Lined of course. It would use a lot of fabric. That’s all I can think off that was not mentioned already.
Thanks Melanie. Could you imagine the weight in the curtain? It would look great though😀
what about making a bag in the same style as all the designer (dior/chanel) tote bags that are hugely popular right now.
Hmm, might have to do some research on that😁
Not for this fabric but I really like your blouse. Did you make it?
Thanks Marla. I didn't make it, but think I should 😄
Coasters/ mug rugs
Thanks Laurinda 😀
eye glass case,, feminine product pouch with kleenex (tissue) holder, notepad and pen holder change purse,, phone wallet
Where's your emojis Joy? That's way too many ideas🤣🤣
All in one: space for cell phone, cash and card wallet, holder for water bottle, and pocket for ear buds. Something that could fit in a larger bag or on its own. I exercise and then shop at a grocery after. The wallet I've made is awkward.
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs they wouldn't work for me i did do it but they didn't show up😁
Wallet and Coin pouch and reuse hole
Great ideas Dee. Thank you😀
Do some bag with all same background and different prints, then have some strips with same pattern and different color backgrounds. Phone case, zip bags or larger stips for market bags.
Thanks for the ideas Nina😀
Mini backpack bags.
idea Cody😁
I would like for you to do a tutorial with your fabric making a Boro Bag with Sashiko Stitching?
That's a great idea kay. I do love Shashiko😁
How about some small fashionable handbags? I don’t think I have seen that yet. I’m currently making a handbag myself.😊
Spoiler alert! I had a lady come into the shop yesterday. She wants me to copy her handbag, and add more pockets to the dozens already in there. That will be a huge project😁
Potpourri bags, feminine hygiene pouches, catnip pouches!
Thank you Betty 😊
Small rugs. Keep paper on and back with a solid material.
Great idea Susan. Thank you😀
Glasses cases reading or sunnies or mobile phone holders.
Thanks Maine😀
Double eyeglass case
Great idea Gail😁
I would like something like a wallet. Like a pouch type wallet with maybe 1 divider that I could just pit cash it or carry my misc. coupons
Thanks Susan. Will see if I can come up with something😀
Mug rugs and phone holders
Great ideas Pam. Thank you😀
