    Ran those in an XJ for years. Just be careful on dry pavement to apply throttle sparingly in tight turns and everything is fine. Too much gas and they try to lock. Great on the trail climbed the same stuff the air lockers did. Also ran the Teraflex 2LO kit which made tight turns on narrow trails a breeze.

    What are lockers? Do they come with all 4x4 or is it a upgrade?

    • @Parker-nf1xn
      @Parker-nf1xn 2 года назад +2

      Hey Scooby snacks. A locker just allows for both tires on an axle to spin at the same rate. So let’s say you’re in a sticky situation and you’re rock crawling. You’ve got your two front tires on top of the rock, but your two rear ones aren’t quite up there. You can engage the rear locker to allow for those tires to spin at the same speed, which will significantly help you get up the rock. And no, not all 4x4s come with lockers. Jeep RUBICONS come equipped with front and rear lockers, but every trim level beneath the rubicon has no lockers. Hope this helps

A lot of people telling me if I lock the dana30 it is gonna break. Is it true? you think my axle can handle a front locker + 34s?

    • @offroadnchill
      @offroadnchill  2 года назад +1

      they are Right but 34s are not considered big tires and if you know how to wheel with they your m186 will last a long time, Just remember i have 40s

    • @ed_word_6198
      @ed_word_6198 3 года назад +2

      You don't have that problem with the JL because of the FAD (front axle disconnect) the locker is only engaged when in 4wd. In 2wd the front axle doesn't spin with or without the Torq locker.

    • @Jmonty580
      @Jmonty580 3 года назад +1

      @@ed_word_6198 the front axle does actually spin ( at least 75 percent of it) but with the fad disconnected the pinion doesn't move. If it had locking hubs then you could make it so that the front axle wouldn't spin at all.

    • @tractiontogoanywhere660
      @tractiontogoanywhere660 3 года назад +2

      This style of locker should not make any difference in 2wd. Shouldn't lock up in turns in a front axle in 2wd.

      I've been running a torq locker on my Jeep JL for a couple of years. 35s with 4.56 gears. I have the FAD so I don't notice it in 2wd. I live in snow country but rarely use 4x4 on snowy highways. I've been waiting for my axle to blow up so I can buy rubi takeoffs, but she still keeps going. I change my diff fluid every other oil change. So my point is that results may vary.
