  • So not only did we install MetalCloak's Undercloak Armor on on JL before we dove belly first onto the Rubicon Trail, but we also decided to prep it with their 3.5" True Dual-Rate Lift Kit (specifically the RockSport edition)!
    Now I won't give too much away on how they've performed thus far (you'll have to stay tuned for the Rubicon Trail footage) but I can say this - this kit IMPROVED the ride comfort of our JL noticeably, both on and off-road! We're definitely impressed, to say the least!
    Massive thanks again to MetalCloak for assisting us with literally everything, from the lift to the helping hands, and of course for their incredible products.
    Hope you all enjoy the video, and stay tuned for the Rubicon Trail videos to come (that's right....videos is plural!).
    And, of course, don’t forget to follow my Instagram as well for more rad car stuff!

    Great to see you went with MetalCloak! I have the same kit but with Fox 2.0 shocks, then as you stated it's easy to add on to the build. I have now added the full control arm package, which just improved the ride that much more. Looking forward to your videos on the Rubicon. And damn!!! Brittany has a good handle on using tools ;-)

    It’s nice to see a woman who isn’t acting stupid. This gal actually understands the gear. Well done technical video. And regarding the comments about safety gear; from a woman who’s been an engineer for 37 years... the comments should be aimed at the Metal Cloak staff. They are the pros. They should make sure anyone working in their shop follows basic safety practice.

    Good choice of lifts. I made the unfortunate mistake of getting a Rough Country 3.25 lift on my previous 13' JK. It was absolute garbage and cause issues right up until I got rid of the Jeep. The company didn't want to help out either, so I suggest anyone who is looking, to spend the extra cash and avoid lots of headaches.

    • @jeffhuschitt5654
      @jeffhuschitt5654 5 лет назад

      did the same with 37's, a little to harsh for me on gravel/dirt 2 tracks.
      going to put the 3.5" MC coils in. What is your opinion on your TF ride?
      I will keep the falcon 2.1 but just change out coils.

    • @brianh.4801
      @brianh.4801 5 лет назад

      Jeff huschitt
      You’ll want to make sure your tire pressure is 28-30 psi max with these and any 37” tire. Makes a 100% difference in ride.
      The TF springs are a little stiff for most people’s taste. My lift is a tad high for me. (Ended up being a true 3.5”).
      If you want a great lift with good shocks... look at the dynatrac 2”. Comes with fox shocks. You could then sell whichever shocks you don’t want to keep.

      Jeff huschitt I’m measuring 51” from the bottom of the hood line (near the antenna) to the ground. Progressive springs are suppose to ride really well. You might try googling them.

    Bad Kevin ! Shade tossed twice at Lite Brite. :(.
    You should thank your lucky stars to have found a partner that so enthusiastically supports your motor sports passion.
    At the same time I was marveling at how technically literate and well researched your mods are presented.
    And Lite Brite as a 'presenter' effortlessly dialogues the process. Bravo ! She is an excellent role model for women and men !
    I understand that your location is prime for off roading, but the after market does present a wide variety of choices.
    Maybe you could mention in passing how you decided on one product over another, seperating the diamonds from the coal.
    It does appear that all your choices are top quality and very well manufactured.
    Looking forward to your trail test.

    If you decide to replace your damaged GoPro and you choose the GoPro Session 5, make sure you save the plastic mount on the package because it fits perfectly in the JL's center dash tray. I just set mine in to face forward or back, but the way you guys off-road, you might have to hold it down with Velcro. On second thought, you'll probably have to secure yours with 1/2 inch bolts!

    So why the front drive shaft? My OEM JLU DS has zero clearance issues with your exact MetalCloak lift. I've already run the Rubicon twice, Barrett Lake trail twice, and done a fair amount of the Sierra Butts. No issues. Is it the UnderCloak system or exhaust crossover that gets too close or is MC worried about the Rzeppa joint self clearancing and imploding? I will change my shafts once I install my UD60's, but this would be good info for folks, as the aftermarket is not suggesting driveshaft changes like they did with the JK.
