    I've been over the Rubicon and watched my fair share of videos to relive that experience. I have to say that this series of videos now ranks as one of my favorites. Some takeaways: 1. Really impressed with the articulation of that metal cloak suspension. 2. I just recently started following this channel and I was skeptical about these first-timers on the Rubicon, and then the girl starts barking out these smart driving directions and just does a great job of spotting. Time to eat crow. 3. I' m not sure if you knew what you were getting into but it looks like your companions dragged you over the more difficult lines on the Rubicon. Outstanding work guys.

      The "tough but fun" lines of Rubicon, for sure. :)
      Also, I'm while everybody is yelling for bead locks, I'd just like to point out how well those tires performed.
      They seem to stay on the rim rather well, and the grip seems excellent, not to mention how much punishment they took!

    • @Grumpy_old_Boot
      @Grumpy_old_Boot 6 лет назад +3

      Gotta say, you trail tested them the hard way. :D
      Still, someone ought to make a shoutout to the engineers at Milestar.
      Maybe if we tell them that we like them, they might make more nice tires for us to play with ? :)

      TBH, the first episode I watched on this channel was because it was that smokin hot "girl" with the caption what we don't like about our Rubicon. I was thinking of buying so I wanted to know. Then as I watched videos, I realized that "girl" has a great eye for seeing lines.

    Wonderful video as always. You are absolutly right to keep an eye on those high lift jacks. Good jacks. Mine is over 40 years old. I had a handle that was under pressure when it kicked on me. It was an extra long handle that when it kicked, it came up from underneath and brushed my jaw. An inch of two to the left I would not be here. As it was it took 22 stitches to completely reattach my earlobe. I was very lucky that day.

    Awesome series on Rubicon trail, a lot of fun and tough driving, as far as some of the trail damage goes you didn't have too many. That exhaust though took a few good hits. I recently installed the Flowmaster cat-back and it tucks up really nice, but it is a little louder than I expected.

Hate to jinx myself but ive yet to lose a bead after all these years, been close, lost air but no beads as of yet. Fingers crossed. First time we did the trail, when we were back offtrail at the hotel and were going for breakfast our radiator let go and was done. Very lucky. I know y'all are done with this now, but if you ever have to use a high lift again, take a rope, a piece of chain, strap, or whatever you have, and tie it around the high lift and the tow hook on the bumper, That way if it comes lose it will have something holding it from shooting out and hitting someone. Great video's, Y'all sure know how to have fun.

  • @ethanturner5567
    @ethanturner5567 6 лет назад +1

    You guys are hilarious! So, always carry JB Weld, it would have saved you the round trip to Rubicon Springs and back. I personally TIG weld just about everything, but would never carry a TIG welder on a trail run. In fact, in 33 years of OHV fun I've never seen anyone carry a TIG setup on the trail. Maybe in a support truck? The most likely welding rig would be jumper cables, 2 car/jeep batteries, a pair of vice grips, and a couple sticks of 7018 rod, but you wouldn't be welding aluminum with that setup... And damn, you guys thrashed your way through, but maintained a great attitude! Also, it's time for a CO2 setup too. How to fill an unseated tire: 1) get the wheel off the ground, 2) clean out as much dirt or mud as you can, 3) put a ratchet strap around the circumference of the tire (right down the middle) and tighten until the tire bulges out, 3) use an air source, preferable a power tank or CO2 tank cranked up to 200PSI to pop the tire back onto the bead, but don't overfill the tire. Just use the pressure to shock the tire onto the rim bead. Don't ever put 200PSI in your tire! Once it's seated you may have to deflate a bit to remove the strap--remove strap, fill to desired pressure, put away tools, and resume fun. I need beadlocks too, but for some reason I've never lost a bead at 12PSI with stock rims on my JL or JK before... But I've reseated a ton of tires for others... And I must disagree with Hector down there. The Rubicon put you to the test, not the other way 'round. Next time will be easier. Side note, don't get an air compressor, as most of us have gone to a CO2 tank setup. It's way better for a ton of reasons. I'll never look back. It's like comparing a stock Dana 44 to a built Dana 60... Keep on wheelin'!

    • @ethanturner5567
      @ethanturner5567 6 лет назад

      Kevin Williams, you should mount it where I did. I have a 10lb tank mounted to the left side C member of the roll cage. It occupies no room that you are currently using. I'll post a pic on my build page tomorrow. I used the Power Tank mount and bolted directly to the tube that angles down and terminates over the left rear wheel. It's perfect, you'll dig it.

    Oh forgot to add on my last previous comment that now that you earned them beadlocks to take a glance at the KMC wheels. They have some cool BL's and I love the fact their outer ring allows for water and debris to flow out.

      @@boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 no problem. They are crazy nice and actually use 3/8" bolts on the ring!

    If ya'll get the chance to make it to North Carolina, there is the Uwharrie National forest. With some nice trails. If you do decide to make the trip, post some dates, and I'll wheel with you guys. Love your videos keep up the good work.

    Watching these videos made my buttocks pucker a few times. That was some gnarly driving. Very impressed with machine and skillz. And minimal damage. Fine trip indeed. Should you find yourself in AZ, I'll bounce around with ya. Thanks for the jeep porn, always enjoy the videos.

    You guys rock. I was thinking about getting a jeep, then after seeing what your stock JLUR was able to do, I went out and bought a White JLUR. Absolutely love it. Only had it for 2 weeks, but already have mods on the way, and outings planned. If you are ever going wheelin in the Mid Atlantic I will def try to meet up with yall. P.S. LISTEN TO BRIT when she tells you lines. She has an amazing eye.

    Awesome Rubicon series, thank you.... Question though... You couldn't fit the spare tire inside the Jeep with him? Looked like there was enough room, especially if you put the Rad on top..
