    Really hope your experience with this company and product will be better than mine. Had the turbo on for about 3 years. Pros: More power for highway driving and cool blowoff valve sound of a turbo. Cons (for me) Randomly stalling out and rough idles. Brought jeep to company multi times and were unable to get it fixed. Needless to say stalling out while rock crawling can be a bit scary. Problem I had with the turbo was the lag, you are either in low and the turbo kicks in quick but too low of a gear to get good tire spin or you are in a higher gear where you can get tire spin but turbo lag takes to long to get that instant power to bump it. Long story short wish I just saved my money for what I have now (LS3).

    Hold it up towards a light source. If you can see light shine through the air filter is fine. Also with a turbo you want that catch can. A little oil is fine but a turbo will put more then just a little. That’s why ford ecoboost with out a catch can tend to need a bunch of work right after 100k KM’s just in time for the warranty to expire.

    I love turbos. Save fuel when you don't need them but kick it in the ass when you do need them. Next thing you guys might look at is a snorkel. They have a pre-filter on them to keep dirt out of your system. And they help get cooler air to your turbo.

    Obviously a GREAT shop! A fine kit and more torque is always welcome on the trail. Hopefully, the louver modification will not cause havoc with electrical systems when it rains - some of the after-market louvers come with drainage systems. For ANYONE with a dog - antifreeze is sweet poison to any K-9 - care should be taken when they are anywhere near the stuff.

    If you’re wanting more heat control. Go to PTPturboblankets.com and get their lava wrap for the exhaust pipe. Wrap the pipe atleast til it’s out of the engine bay. It’ll help the turbo perform better and it combined with the coating will make the pipe so you can almost touch it bare handed. I had a conversation with Bill Savage about turbos vs superchargers on off-road race trucks and he explained that racers wanted more low-end torque, which is one reason why you see a prevalence of superchargers in the off-road world.

    • @boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784
      @boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 5 лет назад

      ss67350 they are both great but you need a twin screw for low end. A centrifugal supercharger like ripp needs rpm to make boost like a turbo

  • @BalanBro2
    @BalanBro2 5 лет назад +4

    So cool. Love the turbo route. I'm not super familiar with this system, but I always felt that Jeeps should use the smallest turbo to get the job done. A ball bearing twin scroll rated at 450-500 BHP would be perfect. You'd get a solid 350+ at the wheels, and you should get a great spool with mounds of torque down low. A properly sized turbo can give a supercharger a good run for low end torque, and would actually hit full boost way sooner than either a roots or centrifugal charger.

  • @ddunnum

    Just an FYI about the air filter... Modern fuel injection engines do not respond to a dirty filter like an old carb motor. The computer recalculates the fuel requirements based on the air available. The power will fall off a small amount. You need to be concerned about dirt and air bypass. As the delta p across the filter goes up the dirt and air find their way around the filter. better to replace it regularly.

    By adding black paint you increased its heat holding, also Not sure the inside wall of a turbo casing should also but painted black. Think about it in a like metal foil in oven, great for holding in heat take the foil off, it cools very fast. Now paint that foil black, do you have the same results? Probably not, due to extra layers it needs to cool. Yes great for corrosion prevention no doubt, but if your turbo blew up I suspect, the nice powder coating and black color had a play in this.

I told you this and you got cocky and now because of lack of oil you guys got rod knock and are now replacing your engine . Adding turbos and not adding more oil more frequently gives you problems it’s not just the tune bro . I owned a awd dynojet for 7 years I was just sick of people knowing more than me and trying to correct me and then blowing their own engines hahahaha so I stopped tuning and became a high end chef lol .

    Oil doesn't combust and lowers fuel octane rating when it enters a gas engine... No, the engine is not designed to burn oil, that is BS.. not saying you said that was true, just the myth of that is false

    • @brandonbrown3600
      @brandonbrown3600 5 лет назад

      so explain a rotary which literally burns oil on purpose. Oil does burn it does not carry explosive energy the way gasoline does at combustion temps in a engine but it will burn cleanly if all is working properly. The only issues with oil going through the intake is the valves getting carbon build up because they do not get exposed to combustion obviously on the back sides. On older engines fuel kept the valve clean on newer DI engines nothing does so a catch can does help in that case. But oil does burn through an engine completely.
      Also it does lower octane but a lower octane actually has more potential energy and less explosive energy at combustion temps and pressures. But on the oil topic there are engines specifically designed to have oil enter the combustion process to lubricate the seals or cylinders and other than the design of the engine as far as pistons or rotors etc combustion is still combustion and happens via the same process. All engines are designed with the knowledge that oil will get through the PCV system and burn and are ok with handling that process. The only advantage of the catch can or removing the oil before it reaches the intake is saving the valves.
      on that point though I will say a 300 buck quality catch can is worth it on a DI engine as having to have the valves cleaned at 100k miles because they are caked is stupid. But you can also use seafoam or berrymans through the intake every 5k or so miles to help reduce build up as well and even with a catch can is a good idea as they do not stop 100 percent of the oil.

    • @1SYCRYD
      @1SYCRYD 5 лет назад

      @@brandonbrown3600 yeah, ok... 1st this is not a rotary engine, 2nd oil in combustion chamber can cause carbon deposits, pre ignition, knocking, valve cooking, dirty binding throttle body, lower octane of fuel, foul plugs, etc... Please take your Google info and go to a rotary forum... I've built engines for 30 years, I know every nut and bolt on this 3.6.. take the plenum off and look at the intake and valves, coated with oil, sticky as honey, coating the valves causing carbon build up.... Don't tell me this is normal... Ur not qualified

      @Fix_It_Again_Tony 5 лет назад +2

      I agree that is a bit more than I would pay, but the quality of the kit seems to match. Just look at that book. That kit looks top notch professional and that is reflected in the price. All the bags and hoses are labeled and the kit comes with every single part you will need. For a turn key solution plus some tuning support I can understand the price.

      justin dillon it’s a fun progression to push this jeep as far as we can. I think a v8 swap on one tons and 42s would be separation but we daily drive this jeep all over the country pulling a trailer with a RZR on it. Sleeping in it and living out of it. If all we did was trailer it around and back home I’d say you were right but I feel like we connect with people just fine. Showing if we can put this much abuse on a jeep, that everyone who has little to moderate mods should have full faith in their jeep because we’re going beyond that by far beating the crap out of ours and still driving it all over the place. Just my point of view on it.
