The stock intake on the jeep wrangler is a thing of beauty, a rare engineering example of functionality over regulation. You don't need an aftermarket intake on a wrangler, it doesn't do anything, zip, zero. It also increases your chances of sucking water into the intake manifold when you replace it. The exhaust is something that I can get behind though, but you need to remove the catalytic converters and flash the ECU. If you're looking to stay legal, you'll need a custom exhaust to accommodate the lift you chose, if you're hard-core.

I think the problem your experiencing most likely is not due to higher rotational mass. I believe you're going to notice a tremendous difference by regearing your Jeep. Maybe going to something like a 5.13 gear set. A lot of people(maybe not you) throw a cheap lift kit on a Jeep destroy the ride quality and put a lot of stress on the engine and transmission because they don't regear and fix geometry changes when they lift their Jeep. You put bigger tires on even just a couple of inches bigger chances are you've changed your gear ratio to a point where your vehicle is going to feel significantly more sluggish. When you put a lift on you change all the geometry of the Jeep and often times this causes wandering and sometimes it ends up resulting in death wobble and a whole slew of other issues related to driveline. Of course a couple of inches you're probably not going to notice that much of a difference if you've got adjustable trailing arms and have taken your Jeep to an alignment shop to have them adjusted properly, but on our Jeep Wrangler(4.5in lift) when we got it it was awful to drive, The shocks were terrible, All of the steering geometry was out of whack and it had bad ball joints on top of that. So after putting it nearly $5,000 in teraflex front end parts it drives like a dream. The only thing left to fix is the cheap shocks that came with the cheap lift kit. So take it from me If you'd like to lift your Jeep do it the right way, You're going to be so much more happy with the results and more comfortable driving it to far away places. No one likes a Jeep that wanders into other lanes or can't get out of its own way. I understand doing it the right way can oftentimes result in a lot more money spent and if that's the case well I can understand people trying to just get by with a cheap lift kit and upgraded as you go but just know what your getting into. Sometimes the best left kit is the one that you build on as you go. So when you go around town telling your friends and buddies not to get a Jeep and lift it because you've had a bad experience with it just know that when a lift is done right it rides like factory, or close.

Stock Rubi 4.10 does just fine on 35’s, could get away with 37’s on a manual. And yeah I’d be super cautious about water crossings with an intake like that.
Lowering the gears puts the gearing back to where it was before the increase in tire size...... The open air intake is not good if you are crossing streams and water, hydro -lock the engine by sucking water through the intake....l. Personally I would have just went with a K&N filter with a stock intake setup......
better to just connect a small hose to your inside ac cabin vents to suck REAL cold air into your engine air intake into the air filter box. For a TRUE COLD air intake system...atleast if your AC works and you have your ac on. just have to have a electronic cut off if you have the heat on in the vehicle.

You think this is going off road? First step after tires would be a re-gear if it is going off road.
@@ShainAndrews lots of people offroad with bad gearing I would say most people
Stock Rubi 4.10 does just fine on 35’s, could get away with 37’s on a manual.
And yeah I’d be super cautious about water crossings with an intake like that.
IMPRESSED! NICE GROWL BUBBA, GOOD WORK & VIDEO!
gears, only way to get power back bottom line ,iam sure it helps with air flow ,but gears got my jeep go again
Always regear after getting bigger tires, always. I only started to do the other mods after I regeared.
What was the total cost of this upgrade?
Greetings from a fellow NC Jeeper... That exhaust sound though!! 🤘🤘 They make those for the TJ models?
0:18 I can relate...😂
How about adding a throttle body spacer too?
Talk about departure angles lol check that brake line stretch! Haha
Shorty headers would have helped even more....Thanks man...!
Probably not on these, they only have one exhaust port/head. The header/manifold is cast into the head. A lot of manufacturers do this now.
With the top off you have enough air intake ;)
2:09 ahh the clutch sound
Lowering the gears puts the gearing back to where it was before the increase in tire size...... The open air intake is not good if you are crossing streams and water, hydro -lock the engine by sucking water through the intake....l. Personally I would have just went with a K&N filter with a stock intake setup......
better to just connect a small hose to your inside ac cabin vents to suck REAL cold air into your engine air intake into the air filter box. For a TRUE COLD air intake system...atleast if your AC works and you have your ac on. just have to have a electronic cut off if you have the heat on in the vehicle.
Be interesting to see what hp the intake made. Also the dyno pull would be interesting with real world conditions. Hood closed.
Lesneski is the man.
I have a 2016 with manual transmission and notice the low torque at lower rpm around 1500 to 2000. It looks like the bottom end where the 3.6 really needs it saw a healthy boost, but it’s hard to see the details in the video. How was the drive ability improved down low?
Changed your diff cover too, I see.
Snorkel +10hp
12Gw light bar +15hp
Hood mounted high lift jack +5hp
Rooftop tent year round +8hp
Angry Eyes +infinity
Love to see more JK videos!
Thanks!
Smart video, I haven't done the air box mod because of possible water intake when fording. This video should be a template for all wannabe Jeep videographers.
Dude great video
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
Do it Tay!
I am serious considering buy a jeep but I am wondering about it’s reliability What year is this jeep and why did you choose manual transmission over automatic transmission
What size lift do you have and brand, also what brand of tires, your stance and look is perfect.
I dunno his but mine looks similar-ish
3.5 in lift
bfg ko2s 35s
planning on getting km3s 35s
Might want to try and re gear it
Now it sounds like Nissan 350Z!
Thank you man, good to know about this parts
Nice, approximately $90 per horse... & lb/ft
Are you thinking about changing the intake manifold?
