JK Gear and Gadgets Was your buddy’s ‘07 a 4Dr? My detective work looks like a Dynomax 17263. A little concerned about the “off-road use only” label it has on it. Mine is a 2Dr. I was thinking of installing a small, straight thru, muffler and I’ll delete that rear one and possibly get a muffler shop to build a dual exhaust piping out the rear.
Andrew Karl it was a 2 door as well. And don’t worry about the Offroad use only sticker. It will still pass emissions and be legal, I think they just have to put that since it’s not an OEM exhaust
JK Gear and Gadgets So far, we don’t have emissions testing, but, we do have state inspections. So, as long as I don’t delete a catalyst, I should be ok. Tomorrow I check pipe diameter and 16”s of straight section.
for removing exhaust hangers use any lube (wd40, penetrating oil etc.) and a screwdriver, get the screw driver in from the back and lay it on what looks like a penis head, from there use the screwdriver leverage along with some brute force. your welcome :) (if anyone reads this that is)
To keep the drone out of the cab, you should consider a hush-mat or comparable product. We installed on our JK in conjunction with a new exhaust and it helped a lot.
To remove the rubber hangers wd40 and lg channel locks comes right off just did my exhaust 2 weeks ago. Put the summit racing dynomax dual tip exhaust 125.00 shipped and i love the sound.
I know it is too late but for anyone doing exausht work they have a tool for those rubber hangers. Its so much easier to get the rubber hangers off and if you use it more than once or twice it would be worth it
Hey man not sure if anyone commented this or not yet.. For the hanger, I just used some pliers to make a space where the metal goes and sprayed some PB in it for lube. Then with a few tugs and profain words it popped right out.
My JK had a magnaflo muffler when I bought it, but I didn't care for the sound. I cut it off, and welded on a tail pipe. It's kind of noisy, but I like it.
I used dual magnaflows and high flow cats on a truck. It sounded great in town...on the highway at 65-80mph the drone was worse than a WW2 tank. I cut those mufflers off and gave them away.
I noticed when you were doing the test fit you had the muffler upside down which in turn makes the flow backwards you know what I mean hopefully you straighten it out which I'm pretty sure you did but good tip keep up the good work Buddy
Use a big set of channel locks or pliers. Much easier- put one jaw tip on the metal part of the hanger and the other jaw on the rubber bushing and squeeze. Acts like a press. Always helps to have some lubricating measure no matter what route.
I finally put my Magnaflow pro Friday and I was disappointed, my 3.8 had no power at all. It was like driving without a muffler, Loved the sound though. The Jeep had issues shift due to being sluggish. My friend gave her exhaust she had on her Jk 2dr before she stretched the axle, she had a shop take a bmw resonator and make a custom kit tucked up high, I installed in 15 mins and got my power back and I did have issues, lot more power and back pressure so it’s not sluggish anymore but very responsive
Exhaust hangers... spray on wd-40 or other loose nut. Use a prybar and they come right off. Your muffler is on backwards. I doubt it changes anything on that type of muffler though. Pretty straight through
Excellent video and thank you for making it! I'm planning on doing this to my 07 JKUR because my stock muffler is all smashed up and since I put the poison spyder BFH rear bumper on the stock muffler looks awful and is REALLY exposed now. I think with mine being pretty much a trail rig I'm going to go with a cheaper non name brand muffler though. Still, great video and thank you for posting it. I pretty much knew how I was gonna do it but having a visual made it so much clearer in my mind now.
Magnaflow has a ton of mufflers if you want a quieter one they probably make it. Been close to chopping my exhaust off only because the muffler looks like shit and takes up space. Been waiting though because I don’t mine it being quiet. They just don’t sound very impressive to me with louder exhaust.
A big pair of channel locks and any spray lube like WD will get those rubber hanger mounts off lickity split. I've struggled in the past as well but learning the trick will prevent from having to replace them. Cool vid tho, nice ride.
JK Gear and Gadgets What did you do to extend the pipe? An after market tailpipe or just added more pipe? I am planning on doing this mod sometime before end of the month.
Also wanted to add love the rock lights I have several on mine too there by each tire for off-roading at night not sure if you had some eagle eyes they're pretty sweet too
Loved it. Doesn’t look like it’ll work on an ‘08 JK. There’s a couple of angle changes that I did not see on yours. Only straight section is maybe 15” long. Muffler replacement is in my future. Need a plan.
JK Gear and Gadgets I wish I could add a video to my comments. My Jeep is different at every turn. It doesn’t say Wrangler anywhere on it. Trail Rated is the only insignia on it anywhere. I’ve always assumed it was a JK.
Perhaps you are missing that the muffler goes under the Driver's seat (not the factory location behind the rear axle). All the turns are after the rear axle. All of that goes away when you disconnect it from above the rear axle.
What is the worry about the bolt heads getting bashed by a rock if that happens it's a clamp the whole muffler is gunna get bashed off I'd be more worried about road vibes rattling the nuts off
This will work with the 4 door but the straight section on a 2 door is too short. I tried it tonight on mine. Might try making a downspout like the high clearance kit
I have a really dumb question, did you disconnect your battery for this magnaflow install? I have seen a couple youtube videos where guys are disconnecting, but I didn't think you did that in your video. Is it necessary....I wouldn't think so, but just double checking before I copy your exact mod! Thanks for this video by the way, I am stoked to get it done this weekend!
Nope no reason to! Most manufactures include that in directions just for liability purposes in case you cut a wire or something during install. Your fine with it on. “Insert liability notice” Jk gear and gadgets will not be liable for any damage, death or other causes due to not removing the battery terminals. 😂
I have an 09, just got this same muffler...hope its good..🤞 Edit.....been about 2 weeks now...did u get any kind of sputtering or hesitation after? Cuz I have.....curious
I just did the same with my 2010 jeep jk 2 door. It's so far awesome! How does it do with being so close to the brake lines on the inside of the frame? Edit: they sell both the clamps and glass pack at autozone. I did it and it sounds great.
i went with the magnaflow pro off-road system for better space in the back and found it ok on the street but way too loud in the woods. bought a replacement stock system and painted it black with grill paint as a compromize. less of an eye sore! Let me know what you think of your setup when you take it off road
Any reason you couldn't install a hanger and cut off the pipe before the rear axle and put a tip on to angle it down? Although where you have it ending up high would give you a bit of water clearance. Hmmm
You could!! However I had my exhaust setup like you said on my first XJ many years ago, and when I wasn’t moving I would smell the exhaust. But then again the XJ always smelled like exhaust lol
Does Magnaflow have an option like this that is quieter as well? I'm more interested in hearing my stereo than I am the exhaust but I also hate the gigantic stock exhaust.
I’m honestly not too sure. I just know you want to find a muffler that is a straight pass and similar length as this one. Maybe a local muffler shop would have some good ideas for quieter mufflers. But I would say dynomax, if they have a similar one like this. Dynomax is usually less loud than magnaflow
So are 2.5 clamps best ? I’m about to do this mod over the weekend but want to make sure I get the right clamps ! Appreciate the video this is going to be a great little upgrade
Yeah the ones I used worked well, you do need to tighten them down real well. You could even use the cheaper u bolt style clamps too since the muffler slides over the factory exhaust
No issues! I would reccomend extending the tailpipe to the rear bumper to avoid it from droning. If you leave it cut off above the axle it will have a loud drone!
JK Gear and Gadgets Sure appreciate the info we do a lot of rock crawling and wouldn’t really want to add more pipe than what you have do you think an exhaust tip pointed down would elevate most of the droning?.
If you weld on a pipe with a bend it will be tucked up high, higher than the stock muffler and have it come out to the side near the driver rear corner
how did you extend the tailpipe? i noticed that the end is angled down a little so you can't just add some straight tubing. also after you extended it, how did you hang it so that it doesn't droop?
hey there ! i’m looking to do this upgrade to my jeep wrangler but i’m not too sure how to extend the tip to reduce the drone, can you tell me how you did it and what you used or just send me a picture please
Yep I ended up extending the tailpipe, there isn’t any safety concerns since jeeps sit high, but I noticed a drone on the highway (echo under the jeep) but after I extended the tail pipe it sounded a lot better
I know this is an older video but did you have any issues with emissions test in NC. I'm from Ohio which we didn't need to worry about that. Want to make sure I'll pass

I used a 45deg and a 24in straight pipe with a tip. It's perfect. Dumps out the left side just passed the couner of the bumper. No drone sound 😊😊😊.
You can weld a 45degree elbow facing down and it will help to lower the sounds aswell
I used a crow bar. Had the muffler off in about 10min total.
I know it is too late but for anyone doing exausht work they have a tool for those rubber hangers. Its so much easier to get the rubber hangers off and if you use it more than once or twice it would be worth it
I'm so glad you serendipitously decided to see what it would sound sans muffler lol I was wondering as well mid video
Free exhaust mod just take the muffler off and call it good. Or spend $20 and add a tip to the end of the exhaust after you remove the muffler
illegal
Idiot
@@Ryan-xs1ig depends where you are

I would say you have the drone sound because you moved the muffler forward under the jeep. That might be why the stock was so far back.
It was because the exit pipe was still under the Jeep, I added a longer tailpipe out to the rear side and no more drone
I used dual magnaflows and high flow cats on a truck. It sounded great in town...on the highway at 65-80mph the drone was worse than a WW2 tank. I cut those mufflers off and gave them away.
Muffler bracket rubber wd40 and large channel locks it pops right off super easy !!!
I am going to do this, my factory exhaust is rattling like crazy! Thanks for the video
I noticed when you were doing the test fit you had the muffler upside down which in turn makes the flow backwards you know what I mean hopefully you straighten it out which I'm pretty sure you did but good tip keep up the good work Buddy
I was looking for a cheap way to upgrade mu exhaust and i am doing same thing u did . Thank u for posting this video witch made me subscribe
I got the pypes setup. It's loud too though.
I took my rubber holders off by using dish soap. Very good lubricant for that situation.
I’ll have to try that next time
Use a big set of channel locks or pliers. Much easier- put one jaw tip on the metal part of the hanger and the other jaw on the rubber bushing and squeeze. Acts like a press. Always helps to have some lubricating measure no matter what route.
I also added a lot of cussing.
Def dish soap. That's what I was gonna say.
I finally put my Magnaflow pro Friday and I was disappointed, my 3.8 had no power at all. It was like driving without a muffler, Loved the sound though. That is weird!
your clamp is called a step clamp use on all semi trucks and they work great
Exhaust hangers... spray on wd-40 or other loose nut. Use a prybar and they come right off.
Your muffler is on backwards. I doubt it changes anything on that type of muffler though. Pretty straight through
I tried that! These Jk hangers are no joke haha. And yeah this muffler will go on either way
Excellent video and thank you for making it! I'm planning on doing this to my 07 JKUR because my stock muffler is all smashed up and since I put the poison spyder BFH rear bumper on the stock muffler looks awful and is REALLY exposed now. I pretty much knew how I was gonna do it but having a visual made it so much clearer in my mind now.
Dude, you've saved me over a thousand dollars.
For 90$ that’s not too bad. A full kit would sound a tad better but at a muchhhh higher price
Yeah for the price I’m happy with it
Magnaflow has a ton of mufflers if you want a quieter one they probably make it. Been close to chopping my exhaust off only because the muffler looks like shit and takes up space. Been waiting though because I don’t mine it being quiet. They just don’t sound very impressive to me with louder exhaust.
Did mine yesterday.. absolutely love it.. thanks Ben..Iove your channel

Hello Ben
On my jeep wrangler unlimited JK sahara v6 3.6
I plan on adding a cherry bomb 30" in place of the Rosenator then add a DUAL OUTLET AXEL BACK
based purely on the sound I would move that out fro under the body.
Talking about the tip?
Yes the tip
Yep, I welded an extension on and it took out a lot of the drone and echo.
You'll definitely get less drone if you extend it..night and day difference... I had the same issue untill I extended my pipes..
Yep! About 2 days after I posted this video I extended the tailpipe and it made a huge difference
JK Gear and Gadgets What did you do to extend the pipe? An after market tailpipe or just added more pipe? I am planning on doing this mod sometime before end of the month.
After ALL that you didn't even rev it or drive it around to hear the difference?? Man. What a tease. Thank you anyways for making the video
Also wanted to add love the rock lights I have several on mine too there by each tire for off-roading at night not sure if you had some eagle eyes they're pretty sweet too
Thanks man! Rock lights are a great mod. Not sure what you mean by eagle eyes though
TY Brother, you saved me hundreds on my 1st upgrade on my 2018 JL....
Sweet upgrade I like It i don't mind a little bit of noise either I don't mind it quiet either though when I'm off roading hard to decide
Flowmaster super 10 for the win!
Loved it. Doesn’t look like it’ll work on an ‘08 JK. There’s a couple of angle changes that I did not see on yours. Only straight section is maybe 15” long. Muffler replacement is in my future. Need a plan.
Interesting.. I had a buddy do it on his 07 JK.

Gonna giver a try this coming weekend!
I had my muffler off for over a year haven't had a problem with it dumping out behind the axle at all
Ayyy! I've got the exact JKS rear trackbar on my JK. Love their products.
All that and you didn't take the camera on the drive or set up the camera and drive by it so we could hear it!?
I have a really dumb question, did you disconnect your battery for this magnaflow install? I have seen a couple youtube videos where guys are disconnecting, but I didn't think you did that in your video. Let me know what you think of your setup when you take it off road
I will! It is fairly loud, and I will be on the trail this weekend with the doors off so I’ll find out pretty quick if I like it
Are you still running this setup?
Yeah, I hate that stupid stock exhaust, but I like it quite though.
I will admit that I like it quiet too, but this has grown on me, I like the rumble now
Are those undercarriage LEDs installed - pretty cool
Yep! Just used led flood lights and they are super bright
I like it - any night pics / vids
I will try to make a video of them sometime!
nice - that would be great. I am subscribed!
I hear lots of complaints about the Stingers. Have you ever almost rolled your Jeep and the stinger stopped it?
Idk if it was just the video or what, but how loud and good does this make the jeep sound ?
Any new updates on this? Did it start rattling or drone? How did it do off road?
Where did your spare tire go?!?!??...looks And sounds good
I did the spare tire delete. Here’s the video I made talking about why. ruclips.net/video/NvZoN211DzM/видео.html
Those clamps are nice but it’s really hard to weld on top of muffler when connected

It's almost been a year since this video. Do you still like it or wish you would have done something else?
Still love it! But if you do it then I would reccomend extending the tailpipe so you don’t get a drone
JK Gear and Gadgets cool. Thanks!
Great video. Very nice upgrade been thinking about doing this. Any issues after the video with the system?
Even if you point it down it will drone.
JK Gear and Gadgets I appreciate the input.
Whice maga flow part number muffler did you go with?
Or what Amazon order number?
Great video. Very instructive on both the product and the install
how did you extend the tailpipe? i noticed that the end is angled down a little so you can't just add some straight tubing.
also after you extended it, how did you hang it so that it doesn't droop?
How does it effect the temperature in the cabin? That muffler being so close to the driver side.
Subb'd!
So it's like a mini-muffler? Looks and sounds awesome!
I wanna know what fenders and bumpers u are using are there any videos about all the cosmetic stuff lights and whatnot too
Nice! Good sound at a good price
Quiet is good.
Hey bud got a question, do you think this magnaflow exhaust for on a jeep wrangler sahara 2007? Thanks hope to hear from you
Yep!
Sounds great!
Thanks!
Does it pass emissions????
how is it with fuel economy?
Sounds pretty good!
You can get some flex pipe to run out the rear
Welded a down pipe on, I wouldn’t suggest using flex pipe.
how does that light hold up on your evap skid?
Never been hit yet lol. It’s a cheap light ($10). And it’s mounted above the bottom of it so I’ve had no issues
hey there ! i’m looking to do this upgrade to my jeep wrangler but i’m not too sure how to extend the tip to reduce the drone, can you tell me how you did it and what you used or just send me a picture please
I actually welded my own turndown, but you can use a 90* bend pipe from autozone and either cut it so it angles out, or cut it and ad and exhaust top.
What are your bumpers?
Whats that light underneath! ..great vid!
How can I get tail pipe under the rear bumper?
What are those light you have mounted underneath the Jeep?
Why do people always put the camera soo close to the exhaust, you can't hear it as well.
Yeah that was a mistake on my part
Better angle to see the exhaust I guess?
I've got a '12 JKU with man pedal. I considering a glass pack style muffler. Most of the sound clips and videos I've found suck. Any suggestions?
Glass packs do suck haha
Does anyone know if this is California legal ALSO will it pass SMOG
Bro looked really nervous after that test drive...
Dang i bought a 2 1/4 inlet and out thinking it would be on to go inside the 2 1/2 pipe
If it has drone in the car put the tip far out
Yep! That’s the plan, just need to find a tip that will work around the rear sway bar and not sit too low
Does anyone know what’s the outer diameter of the stock exhaust on the JL?
Planning to do the same
Awesome video, thanks for postingA
How’d you extend the pipe? I’m doing the same thing and would like to extend it
Welded a turndown on it. Back and to the side. Or just get a clamp on style
JK Gear and Gadgets Thanks!
Would you be able to do this with a 2011 3.8L 2dr?
Took me forever to get the exhaust out I had to wiggle it out because the clamp is welded on the exhaust.
How would I go about finding a pipe to extend it to the bumper? I tried google search but idk what exactly I’m looking for
Auto parts store, or any exhaust/muffler shop
Just ordered mine. Great vid. Did you ever run a pipe to the rear of your Jeep? Would there be any safety concerns if you don't?
Yep I ended up extending the tailpipe, there isn’t any safety concerns since jeeps sit high, but I noticed a drone on the highway (echo under the jeep) but after I extended the tail pipe it sounded a lot better
Where would I be able to find a pipe to do this
Go Team Rugged
Does your muffler need to be on the outside of you exhuast pipe or can it go inside exhaust pipe.
It’s better to go outside. Don’t want to go smaller than your factory exhaust, less restriction is better
Kinda sounds like it did without the stock muffler
The camera doesn’t do it justice, it sounds a lot better
Go team rugged!!
Can you use JB weld around the clamps?
They sell a specific exhaust putty for that
You can hear the leak from the clamp
I know this is an older video but did you have any issues with emissions test in NC. I'm from Ohio which we didn't need to worry about that. Want to make sure I'll pass
This should pass emissions test no issue, however you will have to extend the tailpipe to the rear or side of the Jeep
JK Gear and Gadgets thanks I appreciate your help in this
Will fit on jeep wrangler sahara? Lol
