thank you so much for these, they really help out and the videos editing is well done! currently surviving in my first winter and prospering because of these tutorials!
A "couple" of points that I feel are needed for a more in-depth farming tutorial in VS. If I'm wrong in anything please correct me, I've mostly done this through in-game testing and checking with the wiki. - crop growth time SCALES WITH YOUR "Days per month" WORLD SETTING!!! [[Just like everything else time-related, by the way.]] Longer months don't give you a larger window to farm different crops. This IS reflected in the in-game tooltip (item description) for all seeds. - growth speed can only go up to 120%. This REQUIRES 100% moisture, as 75% moisture equals to 100% growth speed. - 100% moisture is IMPOSSIBLE to achieve solely via irrigation. If your farmland block directly touches a water block, it will permanently have 75% moisture. Diagonally adjacent blocks count as 1 block away. 2 blocks away from water = 50% moisture. 3 blocks = 25%. - this means that it is MOST OPTIMAL to construct your farm in an area with very frequent rainfall. Rainfall (and snowfall, if you're brave enough to farm around 0 degree temperatures) WILL boost your moisture to 100%. In some cases it might even remove the need for irrigation completely. - 0% moisture = 0% growth speed. Even if it's Terra Preta with high nutrient levels. The in-game tool-tip about 22% growth speed is lying. - do not use saltwater for irrigation :) - farming in a greenhouse is not as optimal as one may think, as the 5 degrees bonus doesn't matter "that" much in the long term, whereas you're missing out on natural rainfall, meaning you get irrigation up to 50-75% moisture only, unless you commit to using the watering can, which is very tedious (you'd need watering daily). -fertilizer is, overall, underwhelming. It cannot boost the nutrient levels beyond 80% with the exception of potash. HOWEVER, the GROWTH SPEED is STILL hard-capped to 120%, even if you go beyond 80% nutrient level. This means that fertilizer exclusively fulfills the purpose of "refilling" nutrient levels instead of speeding up crop growth. -Terra Preta is highly overrated for similar reasons as above. Medium fertility soil will do a "good enough" job at farming almost just as well. -you will always get 1 seed back per crop, regardless if it was stunted or died. The chance for an extra seed (2 total) is very low, however - it's like 5% and the crop NEEDS to be mature for the extra seed to drop at all. -temperature resistance is NOT a "hard cap" - your crop will survive the degrees specified BUT it will be stunted, reducing harvest by 50%. 50% of a harvest on ANY crop is still nothing to scoff at. Notable exception: pineapples, which drop 1 pineapple per crop, meaning you only have a 50% of that one fruit per crop, when they're stunted. -there IS a temperature hard cap for each crop that's NOT stated in-game - when the temperature reaches those high or low points your crop will die, and WILL NOT grant any fruits/vegetables/grains and but will still give you that 1 seed back. -greenhouse 5 degree bonus DOES contribute to both the soft and hard caps.
@@the_origame It would be kind of stupid if rain didn't moisturize soil - that's how farming was always done in all history and still largely is :) Hoe some soil away from water blocks in-game when it's not raining, it should be 0% moisture, and then 100% immediately after it starts raining. Sometimes the block stubbornly doesn't update though, could be a bug. Ideally the "best" way to farm is 1-block irrigation in high water precipitation areas, to maximize 100-120% growth speed. There always IS the watering can as well, but this game's grindy enough as is without micro-managing your crops...

Thanks! I'm happy you found these guides useful😄
Oh my god, I just realized that you already have 570 subscribers, I wanted to congratulate you on 500.. It happened unnoticed
Thank you😊

I didn't know you could irrigate your crops with natural rainfall or is that something that you wish to be added to the game? xD

@@the_origame I moved to an area of "almost all the time" rainfall and it keeps my farm pretty hydrated. Very rarely top up with the watering can.
@@Gr0nal oh, that's nice, sounds like a strategic move xD
if you don't mind it raining all the time, definitely. And I live in the UK so it's normal for me
How do you get the water source blocks? Just use a bucket like in minecraft?
You can use a bucket or I build my farm in a lake so there’s already water
yes
Когда видео на основном канале?
good question :D
@@the_origameto be honest, I didn’t recognize you at first😂
This IS the main channel already.
Oji is that you?
maybe :D
Again and again.. ORIGAME RELEASES VIDEOS SO OFTEN AND ONLY ON THIS CHANNEL
So bad
Why bad?😂 Isn't that good to release videos often? xD
@@the_origame Yeah, it's bad and here is why: I'm kinda lazy and don't really wanna translate the video into my language while I'm watching it 🥱
@@123hdiwk Fair enough😆
@@123hdiwk skill issue. Just learn the language already.

So, what is the biggest size green house you can make? 🤔
Someone said 15x15 or something xD
