I'm not aware of a followers name for Voctave. I found them pretty quickly after they posted their first video as Voctave. Many of them sing at Epcot in Disney World. Last year (December 2019) I got to meet Kate, Sarah and Karl at their Epcot performance. Besides all of the wonderful suggestions that others have given, I would recommend "All Is Well" since it is a lesser known Christmas hymn/song that features Tiffany (the other soprano).

WFMJ posted this blurb introducing a new album: "Voctave is an 11-member professional a cappella group from the Central Florida area. Voctave members: Kate Lott, Tiffany Coburn, Ashley Espinoza, Sarah Whittemore, Chrystal Johnson, EJ Cardona, Drew Ochoa, Jamey Ray, Kurt von Schmittou, Aaron Stratton, Karl Hudson."
On their channel, Jamey Ray speaks about arranging song parts specifically for individual members.

I almost forgot. In your reaction, you were amazed at how long Mark Lowry was able to hold the "lamb" note and went back 20 seconds and re[played it. If you go back a little further and listen carefully, you will find that Mark sang the previous phrase "the praises of the" in the same breath that he sang "lamb", making it even more impressive. The other thing I forgot to mention is that Kate Lott, the soprano you really liked is featured in the "Wonder as I Wander" portion of Voctave's "O Come, O Come Emanuel/The First Noel/I Wonder as I Wander" medley. She is unbelievable!!!

I really love the reactions of people who are hearing Voctave for the first time. You named what I consider to be the absolute best of a cappella... Pentatonix, Home Free, VoicePlay and now Voctave. Voctave with its 11 members is somewhat different in that they can completely cover the full vocal spectrum with a mixture of sopranos, tenors, altos, basses, and yes... one baritone. Their arrangements take advantage of that mix. It's almost like a vocal orchestra. The tenors generally are not singing the same parts, and the same goes for the sopranos and altos. If you want an idea of the flexibility and talent in this group, give a listen to their "Disney Princess Medley" which features each of the women or "Disney Showstoppers", which features three of the men.. If you want to stick with the Christmas theme, check out their renditions of "O Come All Ye Faithful", "Joy to the World", or "This is My Wish/Let There be Peace on Earth". You really can't go wrong with any of their stuff! Enjoy!!!

  • @MrDavidfarris

Voctave is the greatest ever, IMHO. Kate is a very special form of soprano known as “coloratura” which is the rarest and highest of the female voice. Coloratura can effortlessly reach the most extreme of the upper end of human vocal range. They are rarer than one in a million, only a handful exist in the world at any one time.

When you see all the singers behind Mark, counting from the left: number 2 (Tiffany Coburn) and numer 5 (Kate Lott) are sopranos. Number 4 (Karl Hudson) and number 8 are the bass. Number 7 is an alto. Number 6 is a baritone.
Number 1 (Jamey Ray) is the arranger of all Voctave's performances, and for me he gets a huuuuge credit for their talent as a group, because he is insanely talented in understanding the voices when interacting with each other.
A very big part of arranging a song for 11 acapella singers are harmonize the voices, and he does an amazing job of that :-)
For me, this is their best performance technical, along with the song; "O come, all ye faithful", not necessarily in entertaining-value, but in technique. Both in performance and writing... An amazing group, and you could easy spend hours analyzing any performance of them...

@@rocksolidreactions3901 - A maybe small thing, with huge effect, is the section that starts at 6:37 in your video, when several members of the background vocals sings "Mary did you know". The way that Kate Lott (the top soprano) sings her part, and the way Jamey Ray has written it for her, is one way of many to showcase her quality. Her pitch progresses up, except the last note. The last note stay on the same note as the second-last note. To do that, is a perfect way to make sure that, 1) she makes room for the next singer without taking to much focus, and 2) she creates a space to where the song can go later on. When she hits the high notes at both 6:45 and 11:02 those are the continuation of the notes from 6:37 :-)
Plus, the note they all make at 6:46 is just perfect. Going from dissonance to resolution in that way, with both the highest and the lowest note staying the same, is such a pure amazing way of constructing that "chord"...
Those were a few points ;-)

I love your reactions and I'm glad you finally got to Voctave. Figured you'd love them. They, like VoicePlay, hail from Florida and several, if not all, of them used to work at the theme parks there. The group size has varied, with their expansion to 11 in their more recent videos from what I remember. For more Christmas music, I saw several people suggested Voctave's version of "O Come, All Ye Faithful" and I would concur. But I would also encourage you to watch the Pentatonix of that and well as "Mary, Did You Know?" You are right, the groups are very different and their versions are both different and incredibly fantastic. I would also suggest "This Is My Wish/Let There Be Peace" which is fantastic as well. When you get past the holiday season, I would suggest the following from Voctave: "The Great Movie Medley" (which will blow your mind despite the lack of beatboxing), "The Star-Spangled Banner," "Disney Showstoppers" (featuring solos from the men), "Disney Princess Medley" (featuring solos from the women), and "Disney Love Medley" featuring Kirsten Maldonado (from Pentatonix) and Jeremy Michael Lewis (her then-fiance') just to get you started. That love medley is another song where the featured artists react during the video to Voctave and, in fact, there is a behind-the-scenes video of that where they had to stop rehearsing because Kirsten and Jeremy just fall apart hearing Kate Lott's high notes. Enjoy your new rabbit hole! You can't go wrong with them.

Hmm now that you mention it, I have no idea what Voctave fans are called. I don't think there is a name? As a group, Voctave doesn't put the bass in the spotlight very frequently (though you can always hear them; their blend is never anything less than perfect imo). Except in a very fun rendition of You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch, where their 2 bassists and 1 baritone are soloists. In any case, I'll join some others on Oh Come All Ye Faithful and Carole of the Bells of Notre Dame as my favorite Christmas songs from Voctave. Or, if you want to hear Kate Lott (first soprano) go crazy, go for their mashup of O Come O Come Emmanuel / The First Noel / I Wonder As I Wander.

I don’t know if you’re aware of it, but Mark Lowry has MS. That’s why he’s seated in this video. To still sing like this while dealing with a neurological disease, makes Lowry’s performance here all the more impressive!

Another song you'd likely enjoy would be "We Three Kings" sung by the Hound and the Fox, featuring Tim Faust. The video adds to the music and altogether it's a stunning performance. Not a capella, but the instrumentation is not over-done.

ruclips.net/video/_PDlmmuO9oU/видео.html That ^^ That there is the exact same reaction I had when I first heard them this morning. I suppose there are lot's of people who use RUclips reactions like we used to use radio, we find people reacting to something we like and discover new loves. I first did it with Home Free. Then we hunt through searching for other reactions to the same song, either for confirmation, to thank you all for being there for us or to wind you up. Have you done Jinjer Pisces yet? It's kind of a reactors rite of passage 😁 Thank you
Also, we could do without Merry Christmas flashing up every so often?

Have you done Mary Did You Know by Pentatonix?. Also I have a really big request I follow a lot of reactors and no one seems to want to react to Kansas Cheyenne Anthem. The instrumentals are just amazing as well as the message. This was the greatest music in my time as a 20-year-old. Wish someone younger would appreciate it.

    • @rocksolidreactions3901
      @rocksolidreactions3901  3 года назад +1

I haven’t Mary, I did a version by Voctave, I try and do songs by theme of the season, it is on my list, and as far as Kansas, one of the greatest groups of all time, I grew up listening to Kansas, Journey, Chicago, and many others. I definitely appreciate those type of groups, they paved the way for so many groups that came after. I also try and react to song I haven’t heard or at least the group that is singing it. I appreciate the input though, thanks for watching!

You can prefer as you wish. Pentatonix is my favorite group, but comparing their cover to this is comparing apples and oranges. Voctave is a much larger group. They don’t normally use a beatboxer. It’s a very different set-up, with totally different arrangements. There is no comparison. At all. Each version stands on its own. THIS version touches me in particular because Mark Lowry has MS, and that’s why he’s sitting-and still can sing like this!

    • @rita.---
