Todrick is a multi-talented creative genius. He also did another project on the "Wizard of Oz" theme called "Straight outta OZ", and another collab with PTX "Black and White". He actually attended the same high school as "the Trio", a few years ahead of them, so they were familiar with each other's work and he recruited them for this production. The concept of telling the Wizard of Oz story through contemporary songs was brilliant, and the execution was superb. Their background in musical theater productions in their youth was much in evidence here.
Dude, you are only one of two reactors I've ever seen watch this video who've correctly identified them asThe Munchkins (and Cheryl further by The Lollipop Guild). Others have incorrectly called them Oompa-Loompas. Wrong story, folks!
Great reaction! Todrick's production level is always insane. As for that other version of "somewhere over the rainbow", Bruddah IZ is pronounced like the word "is". At least that's how all my Hawaiian relatives pronounce his name.
Todrick went to the same high school [EDIT: as corrected below-not the same school, but in the same district] as Kirstin, Mitch, and Scott, but several years ahead. He was on American Idol, briefly (I think he finished early in his season), but he’s become a huge RUclips success story, with national tours and original music in addition to his mashups on YT (like this, they’re filmed very professionally). I highly recommend his original “Black & White” with Scott, Mitch, and Kirstin collaborating-the message in the lyrics is very insightful, and the song is really catchy.
@@cherylhowe1541 thank you. The amount of times I see people say this. Not sure how it got started. This video is a MASTERPIECE! Todrick is a multi-talented singer/rapper/songwriter/actor/producer/director who grew up in the same town as Mitch, Kirstie & Scott. He was a few years older than them, but they were in musical theater together and he was a friend of the original Trio. He became famous mostly thru his RUclips channel several years before PTX got together on the Sing Off. This was one of his videos and he invited them to be a part of it as PTX's star was very much on the rise at that point. He is a big Wizard of Oz fan and has done a number of productions with Wizard of Oz as a main theme.
Todrick Hall does EVERYTHING! He's been on Broadway, he arranged the choreography for Beyonce at one time, he has written, produced, directed several touring shows complete with dancers, singers, and costumers. You absolutely MUST go see "BLACK & WHITE," his original song with the Pentatonix trio of Scott, Mitch and Kirstie. It is fabulous in every way!
That song has come up in almost every comment Susan lol, it seems to be an overwhelming majority of folks that love it, so I definitely have to check it out, thanks for the info and for watching!
Todrick Hall is about 6 years older than the Trio and went to a different high school but is from the same Arlington area of Texas. I think they all met up doing local community theater and became friends. Todrick is a creative genius. He made it to the Hollywood rounds of American Idol during one of the earlier seasons but he came into his own producing elaborate projects on RUclips, combining his talents for singing, dancing, costuming and parody. One of his obsessions from a very young age has been The Wizard of Oz. This pop song mashup re-interpretation is one of his earliest productions. He later did an entire visual album (à la Beyoncé) entitled Straight Outta Oz that utilized the Wizard of Oz themes to tell a semi-autobiographical story of his life. It's a brilliant opus that I feel was under-rated and overlooked for Grammy consideration. You can watch the entire 70 minute video on his channel but I think most of the songs are also posted in separate videos if you want to react to them individually. Kirstin, Scott and Mitch are featured on the song "Black & White". Many well-known guest stars show up in other songs. Here's the wikipedia entry which details the tracks and the differences between the original 2016 release and the deluxe 2017 edition which added more songs. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straight_Outta_Oz My personal favourite (out of many great tracks) is "Papi" featuring Nicole Scherzinger. The word papi is Spanish for "daddy" but in the context of Wizard of Oz, is also meant as a play-on-words for "poppy" as in the field of poppies Dorothy and company encounter on their way to Oz.

Todrick was also on American Idol (9th season) and he made top 16. He raps, sings, dances, and lots more. He has a huge following of his own. Todrick loves Wizard of Oz and has a huge production called Straight Outta Oz (about 1.5-2 hour video here on YT) with a ton of famous cameos and duets. He is really good friends with Taylor Swift also.

I love, love, love this production and the other collabs that Todrick does with PTX such as "Black and White" featured in his "Straight Outta Oz" as others mentioned below. Todrick is amazingly creative and talented. From this, I had to look up the shoes song ("Shoes" by Kelly aka Liam Kyle Sulivan) and short men song ("Short, Short Men" by Gillette) from the Glenda scene - too funny. Todrick has done a lot! He did opening ceremonies of the Rose Parade a couple years ago. He Exec Produced and performed in Taylor Swift's "You Need to Calm Down" video and they won several awards for it including the MTV VMA and the AMA for best video. But as others have said below, he has a ton of amazing songs/videos on YT. His videos feature lots of celebrities like RuPaul (Todrick also appears on Drag Race as a judge/choreographer, etc), Tiffany Haddish, Jimmy Kimmel, Nicole Scherzinger, the list goes on and on and on. He is brilliant and adding PTX to anything automatically makes it a winner in my book! LOL
Todrick Hall featuring Pentatonix ❤ He is a genius, and he can do ALL the things! I would love to see you react to other of his videos. :) he has done at least 2 other videos with "the trio". :) I believe that he and Kirstie (and maybe the others too?) are longtime friends. There's a behind the scenes of Wizard of Ahhhs video here on RUclips if you are interested. :)
There is a behind the scenes video of the making of this. Also a behind the scenes video of the making of the Black and White video with Mitch, Scott and Kirstie. And yes this was Todrick Hall's project. He came from the same town as Mitch, Scott and Kirstie (Todrick is older).
Todrick actually attended Bowie high school in Arlington Texas and the trio attended Martin high. Not sure who started the rumor they went to school together? I’m assuming it’s because they’re from the same town and all knew each other before they moved to La and made it big. Just wanted to mention it since I see people say this every time someone reacts to anything ptx/superfruit and Todrick together.
Great reaction! I included Iz's version of Over the Rainbow in my wedding playlist and got a lot of "Who was that??? " I love this video because they seemed to be having so much fun. There is a behind the scenes video where they talk about the costumes, making the video, and Kirstie's huge contribution in playing 3 of the major parts. Toddrick is from the same part of TX as the Trio, and he was a semi-finalist on American Idol about 10 years ago. He is a talented singer, dancer and arranger, and has a number of great videos out, including one with the Trio called Black and White.
There is a 'making of' video of this out there too which is really fun and lovely. Todrick set it all up and the Wizard of Oz is his favorite movie. It was even his dog, whose real name is Toto!
I cant get over how well they picked the songs that retold the story so well! The transition from Scott to Mitch with the “do you” was brilliant! Notice too Scott, the scarecrow wanted a brain so his song said “I’m thinking about” and Mitch, the tinman wanted a heart, so his words “my heart is damaged” Then Kirstin sings “you’re lying on the cold hard ground” to Avi who is a”lion on the ground” & as you said, just so so so well played! Kirstin dreamt of being on Broadway (which she has done now) so she was spectacular! A full production! Is there anything PTX can’t do? Nope. You might enjoy this clip from when Todrick, Kirstin, Scott & Mitch were ordering Starbucks in 2011 (pre-PTX)! ruclips.net/video/9VvluGQPqkw/видео.html

If you thought this was funny, watch Pentatodrix - Todrick Hall making fun of Pentatonix doing Daft Punk. It's hilarious. Then watch Superfruit reacting to Pentatodrix! 😃
Agreed. Then watch the Superfruit reacting to Todrick Hall. Even funnier in my opinion because they bring up all of "Mitch's" props in the parody! Totally fun viewing! ruclips.net/video/OFUQPjhvzAM/видео.html
Todrick is an amazing gay icon who has a huge RUclips channel. He's mostly a singer, but raps too, just like PTX does on some songs. He went to the same school/theater program as Kirstie, Scott, and Mitch, but a few years earlier. They even did a bunch of funny clips before they were famous, like ordering Starbucks, etc while singing. Todrick is obsessed with Wizard of Oz and Disney, so lots of videos on that you can react to. His original music is awesome, but not always family-friendly. Low (featuring Ru Paul) and Dripeesha (featuring Tiffany Haddish) are ones he did with celebrities, showing his success. He's done a few things related to PTX including a parody of their Daft Punk medley, his song Black and White, and several skits on the Superfruit channel. His most famous song is a gay anthem "Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels." Saturday Night Live even had a skit talking about Todrick which is really funny: www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3D__6WuTmD2CU&ved=2ahUKEwja2dy1657uAhUNPa0KHXy1Ay0Qo7QBMAB6BAgFEAE&usg=AOvVaw1tPUOJPwvkVs2oQmg80ISD

Yes, Todrick Hall is a rapper, I believe he first became known through American Idol, although he didn’t win. He is a very good friend of the folks in PTX, and has some other amazing collaborations with them.
Can’t remember if you reacted to Pentatonix’s home medley this last summer when they released their home ep but all the home songs at the end of this are featured in their home medley so a lot of us got Wizard of Ahhs vibes when we heard it. You think Todrick has a lot of tattoos you should see Mitch. He has a ton and keeps getting more.
What does Toddrick do?? What doesn't Toddrick do? He really is amazing. He was in the cover of Billboard magazine this last Summer. You could react to his stuff as well. But he has been very prolific through his LONG history on RUclips.
Todrick is awesome. I love his YT video "Straight outta OZ" a video adaption of a wonderful show inspired by Oz, but with original music from Todrick. PTX is one of the many ft in the video. It's worth the time. And showcase some of Todrick's talents. :) Nice reaction here :)
I was curious, and looked it up earlier today. They used parts of 16 different songs to recreate this masterpiece. www.whosampled.com/Todrick-Hall/The-Wizard-of-Ahhhs/samples/ The songs featured are: Judy Garland - Somewhere Over the Rainbow Carrie Underwood - Blown Away Katy Perry - Wide Awake The Chordettes - Lollipop Kelly - Shoes 20 Fingers - Short Short Man* Anna Kendrick - Cups** Frank Ocean - Thinking About You Danity Kane - Damaged Miley Cyrus - Can’t Be Tamed Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble Kanye West - Power Lady Gaga - Teeth Mötley Crüe - Home Sweet Home Daughtry - Home Phillip Phillips - Home Michael Bublé - Home
Lol, I figured it was a no-brainer to let Kim pick! I would have agreed on the song, though! This is just such a cool video! I think it's crazy that Mitch looks exactly like the Tin Man in the movie! Am I the only one that sees that? Great reaction! Loved watching you laugh at the munchkins!! I just got my first tattoo! It's the Frozen 2 "snowflake/compass" thing with "Into the unknown" written underneath. I can't send pics in here or Patreon though! 😐
Haha - the white and the blue lights each plug in to the extension cord separately. So when he's not home, I just don't plug in the blue. Then when he gets home, I try to remember to plug them in..... but often I forget! 🤪😆💙🤍💙🤍
I also had to laugh at the 3 deadpan faced munchkins singing "lollipop". lol It caught me so off guard. lol I don't know if it was meant to be a bit funny, but I found it a bit anyway. :)
As others seem to have already suggested, I'd totally recommend Todrick Hall's visual album "Straight Outta OZ". You can watch the songs in any order, but I'd say that it's best to watch in order... I think there's a movie version that puts them altogether... That way you kinda get the story of Todrick's life mixed with the Wizard of Oz... If you're familiar with the Wizard of Oz then I expect you'll pick out a bunch of the references. Todrick makes a load of fun and creative stuff, medleys, mashups, parodies... His own original stuff too, which includes a few different styles... Got everything from ballads to dance bops lol. I don't think he usually blocks reactors either, which might benefit you... Not sure if he claims... He has shown appreciation to reactors in the past though.
i don't like the original wizard of oz but their version I like. Todrick Hall is extremely talented. He has another song called Black and White staring Mitch, Scott, and Kirstin. This was Todrick's project, he went to school with the trio and reached out to ptx to do this video.
So the error that comes with this song is it is the brain child of Todrick Hall featuring Pentatonix. He is the one that came up with it and asked them to do it. Also I too vote for his song Black and White. He also has a short video Called Blah, Blah, Blah with Todrick Hall and Joseph Gordon Levitt It is great also!
Yeah, I figured that out after I shot the video lol, when I was editing I realized the video I grabbed was not by them and that was the wording on the title. I tried to make amends with the cover art and description, thanks for watching Marty!
You mentioned Oklahoma. PTX recorded Oh What a Beautiful Morning in a collaboration with Billy Porter on his Richard Rodgers tribute album. No video, but worth a listen.
This isn't the original version. Someone added the words to the bottom of this video. They weren't in the original and some are clearly incorrect. It's Toddrick Hall featuring Pentatonix.
I do love this medley, but I'm not a huge fan of Todrick as a person because he has been accused of not paying his dancers among other things (Not paying dancers was proven, I think, but the others are just accusations but better safe than sorry) and talked some shit about Scott on twitter not long ago (he deleted the tweet or at least I couldn't find it, but the responses are still on twitter). It is a good mashup though and I love Kirstie getting the lead. Before any of you ask where I got that from here is a link of everything he has been accused of: www.insider.com/todrick-hall-allegations-against-entertainer-are-piling-up-2019-10

I always hate it when people get that wrong. Seems so disrespectful. This is a Todrick Hall production featuring Pentatonix. You wrote it right but said it wrong. Haha

I believe that he and Kirstie (and maybe the others too?) are longtime friends. There's a behind the scenes of Wizard of Ahhhs video here on RUclips if you are interested. :)
I will have to check that out Anne, thanks so much for watching and for the info!
I will have to check that out Goling, thanks for the info and for watching!
@@PtxXtp Oops. However it started I perpetuated it. Corrected. Thanks for the info.
That is so cool that included that version at your wedding, it’s my all time favorite . Thanks for watching and for the info RLH CAT!
Absolutely loved your reactions... especially to the lollipop song!!! It makes me giggle every time I see it!
Lol thanks Dawn, glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
There is a 'making of' video of this out there too which is really fun and lovely. Todrick set it all up and the Wizard of Oz is his favorite movie. It was even his dog, whose real name is Toto!
Haha, I forgot to ask whose dog that was Bridget, that is awesome, thanks for the info and for watching!
I like them in munchkin costume also because it tells me “yes we are the acknowledged gods of a cappella but we don’t take ourselves too seriously”
I agree 💯 Karen, musical, theatrical, genius! Thanks for watching!
I DIDN'T EVEN THINK ABOUT THAT TRANSITION, WOW
Oh yes, another awesome reaction! Todrick Hall does some amazing things. You should definitely check out more of his music.
Definitely got added to the list after this one Jillian! Thanks for watching!
This is a Todrick Hall production. He is wonderful you need to react to his stuff he pays for all his production.
That is amazing Margaret, he is super talented, thanks for watching!
Todrick is a genius creator.
I would have to agree Lisa, thanks for everything!
Worth watching are the Sup3rfruit vlogs with Todrick - so funny! Fun reaction.
I will have to check those out Sherry, thanks for the suggestion and for watching!
I'm just not ready to take the tree down yet! I took all the ornaments off, so it's not a Christmas tree anymore. Now it's just a winter tree and can stay up with the other winter decor..... right? Who's with me? 🎄🌲
And the blue lights are still on there. I just leave those unplugged when RSR isn't home.... and sometimes I happen to "forget" to plug them back in! 🤪😆

Dang Lupin, that is amazing, I really appreciate you going to all the trouble of listing them out for me! Thanks for watching!
that 20 fingers song is a clean version of that song, in Europe that second "Short" was "
One you can share with your kids.😊
I will have to let them watch the original movie as well, educate them lol, thanks for watching Ellen!
If you thought this was funny, watch Pentatodrix - Todrick Hall making fun of Pentatonix doing Daft Punk. It's hilarious. Then watch Superfruit reacting to Pentatodrix! 😃
You beat me to making this suggestion😃
That keeps popping up Ben, I will have to check into those for sure, thanks for the recommendations and for watching!
His most famous song is a gay anthem "Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels." Saturday Night Live even had a skit talking about Todrick which is really funny:

Todrick went to a different high school in the same school district.
@@cherylhowe1541 Oh, I heard it differently, but you know how that is when you hear stories on the internet! 😁
@@chelliespider yep I always correct this when I see it. So many people say it but you can google their schools and Todrick went to Bowie high school also in Arlington and the trio went to Martin High,
@@PtxXtp You learn something every day! 😁
A man of many talents for sure, thanks for the info and for watching chelliespider!
YES!! I love this so much.
So glad you enjoyed it Hilary, thanks for watching!
Todrick Hall production featuring Pentatonix
He has done others with Pentatonix too!
Thanks for the info and for watching John!
Yes, Todrick Hall is a rapper, I believe he first became known through American Idol, although he didn’t win. He is a very good friend of the folks in PTX, and has some other amazing collaborations with them.
Well I will definitely be on the lookout for him now lol, thanks for the info and for watching Laurie!
I have not Ptx Xtp, I will have to give it a listen, they are addictive, tattoos that is, thanks for the info and for watching!
Todrick is a singer and choreographer and was on Idol. He's awesome. He's done a few things with superfruit. You should check those out!
What does Toddrick do?? What doesn't Toddrick do? He really is amazing. He was in the cover of Billboard magazine this last Summer. You could react to his stuff as well. But he has been very prolific through his LONG history on RUclips.
Haha, I am seeing that BKBW, thanks for the info and for watching!
do Superfruit Defying Gravity, it's Mitch and Scott singing from Wicked a broadway show of a pre-dorthy's visit to OZ
Well that sounds amazing Wanita, thanks for the suggestion, and for watching!
Oh gosh, yes. It's amazing 😊

Judy Garland - Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Carrie Underwood - Blown Away
Katy Perry - Wide Awake

Anna Kendrick - Cups**
Frank Ocean - Thinking About You

Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble

Lady Gaga - Teeth
Mötley Crüe - Home Sweet Home

Phillip Phillips - Home
Michael Bublé - Home
That’s just nuts Chris, thanks for sharing that!
That was all Todrick, this is his baby from top to bottom. He just asked PTX to show up and perform.
Jennifer - the way that you cooperated with Kim really meant a lot to RSR! Thank you so much! ❤️

@@cindyadams3683 Good job on getting your way with the Christmas lights, by the way!!! 😉
Haha - the white and the blue lights each plug in to the extension cord separately. So when he's not home, I just don't plug in the blue. Then when he gets home, I try to remember to plug them in..... but often I forget! 🤪😆💙🤍💙🤍
Do not encourage this type of behavior Jennifer! She needs no extra help or support in being diabolical!
That sounds like an awesome tattoo!
PTX does a beautiful version of Over the rainbow. There is no video, but you can literally hear Kirstin smile when she sings.
Somewhere over the 🌈 is one of my favorite songs ever, I will have to give that a listen, thanks for watching!
Make sure to react to the 2017 audio-only performance; the earlier video is substantially inferior to the version from PTX: Vol IV.
I also had to laugh at the 3 deadpan faced munchkins singing "lollipop". lol It caught me so off guard. lol I don't know if it was meant to be a bit funny, but I found it a bit anyway. :)
I couldn’t help but laugh arromell, glad I wasn’t the only one haha, thanks for watching!
Thank you very much for the suggestions KitsyX I will have to check that out!
that was dope
I really appreciate that Gamestar Central, love the channel by the way!
@@rocksolidreactions3901 thank you, sir! Likewise
i don't like the original wizard of oz but their version I like. Todrick Hall is extremely talented. He has another song called Black and White staring Mitch, Scott, and Kirstin. This was Todrick's project, he went to school with the trio and reached out to ptx to do this video.
He went to a different high school in the same school district.
@@cherylhowe1541 oh okay, i thought they went to school together,
That he is Anessa, I will have to check that out, thanks for watching and for the info!
@@anessalyn1035 I heard that several months ago so I looked it up.
Pentatonix singing Thrift Shop. Just for fun.
That sounds interesting Baskerville Bee, I will have to check that out!
Alternate title:
Kirstin announces her shoe/foot fetish to the world
Lol, I don’t think I have seen the same pair of shoes on her feet ever, thanks for watching Dang Dang!
You mentioned Oklahoma. PTX recorded Oh What a Beautiful Morning in a collaboration with Billy Porter on his Richard Rodgers tribute album. No video, but worth a listen.
Well I am going to go find that right now Kirk, thanks for the tip and for watching!
Would love to see them do a remake of wizard of oz.. the Pentatonix way. I know they would do it justice and still show respect for the original
I agree Kathy, that would be ahhhmazing 😉thanks for watching!
This isn't the original version. Someone added the words to the bottom of this video. They weren't in the original and some are clearly incorrect. It's Toddrick Hall featuring Pentatonix.
I figured that out after I was done filming Christine lol, thanks for the info and for watching, I really appreciate it!
Check out Superfruit react to Todrick parody of the Daft Punk video. Hilarious!
I will have to check that out Shaun, thanks!
Before any of you ask where I got that from here is a link of everything he has been accused of:
www.insider.com/todrick-hall-allegations-against-entertainer-are-piling-up-2019-10
It's Todrick Hsll, featuring Pentatonix, not the other way around.
Yeah, I figured that out too late Scott, tried to fix it with the cover art and in the description but I didn’t realize I had made the mistake until after the video was done. Thanks for watching!
Don't stop at the climax.
Luv your PTX reactions❣️🤙🏼

I always hate it when people get that wrong. Seems so disrespectful.
This is a Todrick Hall production featuring Pentatonix.
You wrote it right but said it wrong. Haha
I know it runpoint13, I didn’t realize it until after when I was editing, the video I grabbed off RUclips was phrased that way, so I just assumed like a dipstick, tried to make amends in the cover art and description. Certainly meant no disrespect to todrick, thanks for watching!
@@rocksolidreactions3901 no problem. But the videos does open that way. Todrick Hall presents “the Wizard of Ahhh.s” featuring Pentatonix.
