Add Mark Lowry who is the lyricist to a first class acapella group and you get something stunningly beautiful. And I've heard both PTX and HF's versions and they are really good. Watch how long Mark holds that note in the song. He's doing this from a seated position because he has MS but it sure hasn't compromised his singing. He is a pastor, a songwriter, a singer, a comedian and since I've heard 2 of those already, I would suspect he's decent at the others as well. I love the last note where it sounds like someone running their finger around a crystal goblet - it resonates. I don't know how this version could be any better. It is gorgeous, angelic, and powerful.

Both PTX and Home Free versions are great. This version, however, has Mark Lowry. Not only did he write the lyrics, but when he sings them it's obvious he believes every word with his whole heart and soul. And the DOES make a difference.

yup this version is absolutely the best. no close seconds from any of the popular groups.

This is the best sung with heart by the writer of the song(lyrics).

Glad you reacted to this one. I think this is the best one. Mark Lowry is the songs writer

Omigosh, excellent reaction! Mark is amazing, this is my favorite version, there is something about the passion of the song writer singing his own song that changes everything.

Great reaction! Other covers are good, yes I've listen to them. I've heard Mark sing this for years before this video. But this one to me is the best. Gee the one who wrote it and sang it for years now has a choir of angels singing with him.

Great reaction my man. Mark is the author of this song and his breath control is amazing. I love PTX more than life but knowing what this song means to Mark it holds a special place. Much love and keep on keepin on J.

I really enjoyed your reaction. Mark and Voctave were flawless. Everyone is flabbergasted by Mark's breath control and his ability to hold the word "lamb" in the middle of the song. Please go back and listen carefully, and you'll discover that Mark sings the previous measure "the praises of the" on that same breath, which makes the whole breath control thing even more impressive, not to mention the fact that he is seated during the performance.

This is not Voctave. You see, Mark Lowry wrote this song. So if anyone knows how it is supposed to go, it is Mark. Voctave is simply the backing singers for Mark here. Mark wrote the lyrics and Buddy Green wrote the music.

The original was written by Mark Lowry and music added by Buddy Greene. This is a cover that Jamey Ray from Voctave completely arranged as an accapella piece of the song and Voctave sang it so this is indeed Voctave featuring Mark Lowry singing the lead.

👉For me, the best version of this song... brilliant!!!
Mark Lowry (*1958 in London) is an American singer, comedian and songwriter. He is best known for singing the song 'Mary, Did You Know?' and he co-wrote the lyrics of this song in 1984. Years later, musician and songwriter Buddy Greene wrote the music for the song.

technically co-wrote. but in actuality, he wrote them. the other co-writer co-write the music with him.

Such an amazing cover. I love that several in Voctave are members of the LGBTQ community . They continue to embrace their faith and know that they are created perfectly in God's image. Mark is, as always, phenomenal.

Since this song is one of worship, and about the birth of Jesus Christ, perhaps you might want to omit taking His name in vain?
