  • After a collective 130 days of the Ratpr being in the shop for repairs, I was fed up and decided to go back to what's reliable.

    Yes the Raptor has some menacing looks but it's far from reliable. Ford has continued to use the same ecoboost engine with known issues, primarily the cam phasers. After 10 years these thing continually break along with their flawed 4x IWE system. To make matters worse, parts are never readily available. Don't be fooled, 35s and a fox logo don't make a truck handle well off road. It took well over 15k in suspension mods to get my Raptor handling properly. It's now time to make those mods to the Tundra so come along and I'll show you some great content, how-tos and get some laughs along the way.

    We love it!!! A hobby like off-roading, sight seeing or simply traveling the world is too big to be defined by one truck/vehicle. As Kid mentioned, the truck is a TOOL to get him to those uncovered destinations, a place where he feels connected. We don't discriminate what truck you drive, but we will support you every step of the way! The entire Team at Offroad Alliance.

    Solid choice! Many tundra owners are in it for the longevity. Like I am. I finally took out my tundra to the trails the other day and I really enjoyed it.

    Been driving the raptor on weekends, mileage is about 2000 miles and no problems. The truck has so much power! 😍😍😍

    I had a 2008 tundra with the 5.7 and that thing was a monster. It got crashed up and traded in for the mom mobile. Later on I bought a Silverado with a 6.2. It makes tons of power but they put crappy gears behind it. Im following your build... you may have me back in a tundra, who knows.

    The SR5 Crew Max 5.7 4x4 with the TRD Off Road package is the best bang for your buck.. Save thousands, then build it up your way... The TRD dual exhaust is next on my add on list

    Awesome video! I’m in a 2018 tundra now, my dinosaur. Was going to get a 2020 pro next year but you bring up some good points on the pro vs platinum.

      Pedro Rodriguez I really hope they release the 2020 Pro with all the trimmings of a limited. Or at least make things like auto climate control and memory seats an upgrade option.

    Nooooo as I’m shopping for my raptor but I’m a Toyota man at heart, still have my 15 4Runner for now. Can’t wait to see the direction the build goes

    • @KidRichmond
      @KidRichmond  5 лет назад

      Dead Leg Media what year raptor you shopping for? Make sure to get it below sticker as a lot of dealers are sitting on huge inventories of these things

    • @DeadLegMedia
      @DeadLegMedia 5 лет назад +1

      Kid Richmond a 19. I found a dealership in Ohio that already advertises 5-6k below msrp. In Colorado they are at sticker or with a 5-10k markup. I’m from Ohio so I’ll fly back pick it up visit family and come back to Colorado

    • @KidRichmond
      @KidRichmond  5 лет назад

      Dead Leg Media good good 👍🏻 just wanted to make sure you weren’t getting suckered into a dealer markup. I think you’ll like the 19. The mid cycle update brought in the live valve and recaro seats. Both are worth it. If you ever have some mod question feel free to ask.

    Great video! You motivated me on buying the TRD dual exhaust for my 2020 Tundra. One question though, do you have the TRD air intake installed in your truck? If i installed it would it give it more power and sound to the truck?

    • @KidRichmond
      @KidRichmond  4 года назад

      I held on to the 19 tundra for only a month then went to the new Rebel. I did have the TRD intake on my 08 Tundra and no it doesn’t provide more power. Didn’t get any gains on my 08 crewmax until I bolted on the TRD supercharger. That’s the way to go if you want real gains

    I’m picking up my 2019 raptor tomorrow and I hear this.... 😳 I plan to change the raptor to a 2021 Tundra. I’ll keep the Raptor for 3 years.

    • @KidRichmond
      @KidRichmond  5 лет назад +5

      Invasion I hope you go 3 years without issue. I really do because you’re spending a lot of money on a truck with some flawed engineering. But I will say, I’ve got a few friends with Raptor’s that haven’t had a single issue. Now those are fewer than the ones I know that have had major issues. Just make sure to get an extended warranty and document anything getting repaired in case it goes into a buyback like mine did. And if you have any issues feel free to reach out

      Kimo Jon Man! Sorry to hear that! What year, mileage, what went wrong?!?!?!?!
      Mine is at 19k miles. I’ve taken off roading, long road trips, a lot of 0-60 pulls. So far, I’m good.

    Smart. I’ve been debating on trading in my cars, both purchased new... 2018 TRD off road premium 4runner and my 2020 Subaru STI... want to trade for a 2020 raptor.. the points you made made me decide just to keep the 4runner, as I’ll get at least 200k miles on it... (only has 16k now and my STI has 2k miles lol)

    • @KidRichmond
      @KidRichmond  4 года назад +1

      Patrick Tejas yeah everyone worries too much about loss. Day 1 you lose so might as well just suck it up and buy exactly what you want. I really wanted to keep and enjoy the raptor but unfortunately the fanboy crowd has forced out honest opinions and replaced it with idolized bullshit. 4Runner are killer, lacking tech but they make up for it with higher resale and longevity

    I have a 2010 tundra 4.6 liter double cab and I love this truck but lacking that 0-60. I did some research and read that it's 6.6 seconds because the engine block is lighter then lets say the 5.7.Thus, I'm contemplating on getting a newer truck and I almost made the mistake of buying a 2018 twin turbo v6 f150. Now I believe Toyota will have an answer for the v6 twin turbo with its 2021 Tundra. Now with the unreliability record of ford I watched your video and others and I'm going to stick with the tundra. I saw on auto trader for 30k a 2015 TRD PRO tundra with 40,000 miles and it looks good but after watching this video I will probably get an SR5 and just build it from there. I do have a question: I want to replace the radio with that Tesla oversized screen once I get the 2015 tundra. What is your recommendations on this modification? Thanks in advance for any input.

      Welcome to the club. Did you do any research before buying? I ask because I did what I thought was a fair amount and it after owning it I have come to the conclusion that the fan boys have done a great job at drowning out the ones who actually know what they’re talking about. Everyone raved about the suspension and power. After the first offroad trip I was extremely disappointed. Can’t even go down a washboard today without the rear kicking sideways from all the wheel hop

    Ford Raptor is the most over rated POS in the entire world. I'm a Ford fanatic but our company Fords broke so much we had to switch to GM, those sucked so we went to Ram trucks and Wow, those are the best trucks for durability. I have the data and the new Ram is so amazing those Ram engineers really did their home work. Ram all the way. By the way, we break Toyota's in half, especially for our HD applications. You can't even use the Toyota for what we do.
