I connected the yellow wire to the power wire going to the side marker lights (at the grille). I just ran a long wire from the switch to the grille area. Now the switch is only illuminated when I turn on my lights.
I have the same light bar and switch. I wired it just like you but my amber wont come on unless my white is on. And the white back light is lit without the yellow being connected to anything. Any ideas?
Sounds like your power is connected to the ground? I’m starting to think these switches come mis-wired, or at the least the colors are not consistent. You might try following the order of the wires in the terminal rather than the colors.
So I've got only 3 wires coming from my ditch lights. The switch in the cab has Red , black, and yellow. They are dual functional amber and white. Do you think this switch will work for me? Not sure how to wire it up. Thanks for the video man
It could work for you. If the wires aren’t labeled, I would assume red is white, yellow amber, and black ground. You may have to play around with it beforehand - ground the black and add battery power to the other wires (red and yellow) to determine what turns on.
Which light bar is that? I wanna put the extreme LED X6S onto my Prinsu rack for the Tacoma but I’m not sure if it would fit. If you have the Prinsu rack, please lmk which light bar that is, thanks!
This lightbar is the 44” Extreme LED X6S. I have video tour of the lightbar in my channel. I have a Sherpa Equipment rack and the lightbar mount was made for this lightbar. I do not know if prinsu’s lightbar bracket will fit this lightbar. I imagine it will since most lightbars have the mounting points on the side. I hope that helps.
So is it just one wire for both or is it two separate wires that splice into one? I ask bc my light bar has two separate wires for both amber and white but it’s two separate buttons, I was wondering if I’d need to get two for me to use the dual switch?
Do you have a diagram on how you wired up your switch? I have the Tall switch version of yours but twice I had two of them ordered from cali raised and both are doing the same thing. Only one button lights up, and only by pressing both buttons does one light turn on. Very confusing.
I do not have a diagram. Usually on your relays, the 2 spades that make a “T” is your power and ground - 30 is hot fused from the battery, and 87 is ground. 85 and 86 are your in cab switch and wire to lightbar (or whatever you are wiring up). 85 and 86 are generally interchangeable. That is a simple way to hook a relay up, but there are other ways to do it. As far as your switch, you may have to get a multimeter out. I would assume the red and black are power and ground (respectively). It sounds like your 12v from the battery is connected to the “switch output”, or to a wire that is supposed to run to the lightbar.
Hey thanks for that input. Yeah the wires were in the wrong place. I’m doing a 6 relay/fuse box to organize my wires instead of having them everywhere. I have driving lights, fogs, the dual led light bar, and some rocker lights to hook up. Just trying to work the dual led bars to relays on the dual push like yours. I’m going to try what you said. Thanks!!
I have the diode dynamics harness and stage series ditch lights w/ amber backlight. And this exact switch. Can anyone help me with matching wire colors?
hi there! my ditch lights are from rough country and i'm having trouble getting it to function correctly.. only one of the buttons works and only when i press on both that both lights will come on.. i cannot alternate between the two. also, only the white button is backlit while the other has no lighting.. could it be a defect? or maybe im just messing up the connections? ditch lights has 3 black lights = connected to black wire to switch ditch lights red wire = connected to red on switch ditch lights 2 blue wires (white light) = connected to green wire ditch lights 2 white wires (amber) = connected to blue wire yellow wire on switch is left unconnected any help/thoughts would be great - thank you!!!
My brain is a little scrambled now 😂 one thing I cannot confirm is if all of these switch have the same color wires as the one I have. I had a comment from someone who had a dual switch like this but the tall version and it sounded like his wire colors didn’t match mine. I would play it safe by referencing the position in the connector. With the connector removed and looking at it from the end, number 1 (far left, red in the video) is power in, #2 (yellow in the video) is backlight, #3 (middle pin, black in video) is ground, #4 (green in the video) is wire to light relay (labeled amber on switch), and #5 (far right pin, blue in the video) is wire to light relay #2 (labeled white on switch). If this is how you have it configured and it still doesn’t work, I would get a multimeter out and play around with it until you sort it out.
Did you figure this out. I had the same problem. Took me a while and after some time realized the colors on my exact switch as his are wired in the wrong spots.. hopefully you got yours worked out
You definitely could. If you wanted to utilize the switch, The switch stays in position- so once you depress it, it stays on. A way you could approach it could be a) find a wire that has power when the key is turned to On (or Acc) and use that as the power source for the switch (with an inline fuse). B) find the wire that is hot when the parking lights or DRL’s are on and use that to power the switch. The amber and white switches share the same hot wire so however you wire it up, the white light will only turn on when key is on or parking lights are on. Another option would be to not use the switch - run the power wire from the light relay to the hot wire you found for key in On position or DRL. Hope that helps some
Thank you so much! Incredibly helpful.
You can get the backlit function by using a fuse tap to power it. That part is very simple actually. Great video btw
I haven’t got around to doing that xD. Thanks for watching!
@@realtoyotology The backlight will work if you connect it with the power (red wire in your setup).

@@realtoyotology I did it already today and tapped into the windshield defrost for illumination
I have a Baja Designs light bar with a back light feature as well as the main light. Will that switch work so I don’t have to buy two switches?
Sorry for the late reply. But more than likely yes, but will be labeled white and amber.
Can you turn both the yellow and white on at the same time with this switch?
Yes
I have
43" Amber/White Dual Function LED Bar and switch cali raiced white and amber can you explain how connected wires thank you
I used uninsulated butt splice connectors and heat shrink tubing
So im guessing you have to have 2 separate relays to run that light bar?
Yes, there are 2 relays.

@@realtoyotology thanks for the heads up! Only problem is the Prinsu only fits up to a 42 in light bar.
Do you have separate relays for both amber and white
Yes
Did you need to separate power for amber and white or are yours on the same lead?
One power wire
So is it just one wire for both or is it two separate wires that splice into one? I ask bc my light bar has two separate wires for both amber and white but it’s two separate buttons, I was wondering if I’d need to get two for me to use the dual switch?
Is there two positives? One for amber one for white?
Shouldn’t be. One positive, one ground. Two outputs (amber/white). One illumination.
Ha yes two out outs for the one positive that’s what I meant by two positives so thanks

@@realtoyotology I figured it out.. red is power on the DD harness, and green is power on the switch (dual function from Cali raised)
