Further proof PSA isn't grading accurately. The packs were just one example of what in the heck are they thinking? I appreciate you sharing Chris. Look forward to regular rollers each week. I have boxes I'd love to get authenticated but can't chance them getting damaged in mail.

Utility knives are okay, nicest part is that you can adjust the blade depth so it doesn’t cut too deep into the box.
I really like the LeBron Star Rookie. Got of a pair of 10's myself.
Those Jordan cards are nice. The lebron looked like a high 9. I don't understand the grading system. Cards you think are 10's get 8 or 7.5. Cards you think are 8's get a high 9.5. I've seen graded cards at 8.5 and they resend them and then get a 9.5 graded back. The authentication is what matters.

Right there with you on the #1 Luke Skywalker... sent in a sure '6.5-7.5' to PSA(regular) recently and was stunned to get a '5'... Have sent 14 of the same card to SGC and always receive grades that make sense... BTW, '8' will get you $1500-2K and '9' $5k... congrats on the others though!
Once you become a Jedi, those Star Wars grades will turn around for ya!
As far as I know, PSA is the only company grading packs these days.
I think they grade them packs by everyone sitting around a table. They spin the pack and whoever the pack lands on has to guess what grade they think a jeter would be if pulled from the pack

I was able to buy a PSA 9 East West 1998 Kobe/Jordan insert card from COMC for $680 a few days ago.
The last 1977 Topps Star Wars Luke PSA 8 on eBay went for $1425.
The last PSA 6 went for $350.

I like how you mix up the vintage, 90's, non-sports. I little something for everyone. Maybe it's the collector in me but I don't see the thrill in grading packs but it was interesting to see the variance in grades. At least however buys them knows they are legit I guess.

The last time I heard, the BBCE guy grades all of the packs for PSA. Since you have done business with him in the past, maybe he would be willing to come on and talk about the process of pack grading.

The Schumacher is trading below $1k now. I think PSA pop has increased 40 percent in the last couple of months. Still a great long term hold, though.

Maybe try the Luke Skywalker with SGC? They are tough on older sets like that, but might be worth it if it's a 7 or 8

Boy, I'm having trouble understanding graded packs. Wouldn't the odds of a crinkled pack graded 1 containing a Jeter rookie be the same as a pack graded 10 because it's smooth? Heck, hey wouldn't you buy the 1? Someone help me understand. Thanks

Seems "Authentic" should be the only criteria that should matter. BBCE doesn't put a number score on an unopened case.
But I doubt someone will actually open these right? So eye appeal has to be a factor if someone is going to display it or resell it.
I agree where is the eye and art appeal in looking at a pack. Authentic seems to be just as important to me. To each his own I guess.
thats exactly where my thoughts are coming from on the whole pack grading thing especially with the 1990's on up stuff. Overall the number score is lame untampered authentic should all be thats accounted for in the pack grading game.

How is a pack not graded simply unopened or not? A numerical grade, to me, makes PSA look silly. They're saying an authentic, unopened pack graded 8 is worth more than one graded a 3? It's a container for the product.... opened, tampered with or not. It's binary folks.

At least 15 years ago at the National in Canada you could have purchased as many as you wanted Grid factory sets with the Schumacher card in it for $5.00. I only bought 1. Can I borrow your time machine when you get it?

Anyone use the plastic grading tools for sale on eBay? Or just trial and error and learn from mistakes, I know like this video you can’t always be right but just want to be able to be that consistent with my grading ability! Any advice is appreciated!
Why are you grading the packs exactly? The condition of foil wrap is not directly related to cards inside and they are clearly authentic and untampered with.

PSA is shady. So many fake cards passing through them it's crazy. Super high dollar cards too. Just can't trust them anymore and their prices are absurd after watching how they actually do it.
Do they charge the same to grade a pack as they do to grade a card?
In this case they were each $100. Cards now have a $50 option whereas packs are still $100 minimum.
*** DID YOU KNOW *** PSA doesn't actually grade the packs. Nope. They ship them to BBCE, who grades them and sends them back to PSA for encapsulation. BBCE will tell you that, but PSA doesn't and I think that is a little misleading. I find grading packs a joke. To be honest, they could throw a PSA 8 grade on just about any pack and most wouldn't question it. Unless a pack has real obviously issues, I think a PSA 7-10 are all pretty much the same - with a few exceptions. But I have packs in that range and I can't tell a difference.

Grading a pack I dunno whatever its the old cliche they'll grade anything for a profit unless you can see a big hit card through the pack this is money not well spent in general

Were those your wife's succors? If so I feel the smack down heading your way. LOL J/K. I have to use a box cutter on these type box's. It's uncomfortable to do because I don't want to damaged any slab or raw card. It would to nice know PSA criteria for grading packs. Where will you would sell the packs? On Ebay or a consigner? What did you pay to get the card graded? $50 each? That's the lowest level I have heard so far.

🤣 first time psa sleeved card holders Collector's Grade has been doing that for years! And sleeves each card in bubble wrap! Tour wasting your money with PSA
