I would argue that ATSV's ending actually does land itself in a complete story. Not Myles's complete story, but rather Gwen's. Gwen finishes the film finding "her band" as well as reconciling with her father. Therefore, the ending does tell a complete story, just not the story we were necessarily as excited to see completed.

Ay Sean Chandler, if your gonna do another Hot Takes video, here’s one for you. I think Topher Grace’s Eddie Brock/Venom is amazing. I like the casting choice for Topher Grace as the role, not perfect but close enough for me, I like the costume design, the motivation for hating Spider-Man/Peter Parker is great for him, and I just like how Eddie is like the opposite evil twin to Peter, it’s a much more interesting and unique take on the character and that just fits in the universe of Raimi’s Spider-Man. I honestly think that this is my fav Eddie/venom of all time.

Sean, I just want to say:
    a) Your videos are great and I love your passion and how you communicate with your community. You're actually an inspiration to how I want to do my ranking videos on my channel going forward.
    b) I want to keep things in perspective. I grew up with Raimi's Trilogy, and as a kid I Loved all 3 of them. Heck, Spider-Man 3 was my favourite of the Trilogy as a kid. For a long time, I was so attached to them that I was initially dismissive of the Marc Webb and Jon Watts Movies because they weren't my childhood. However, as I got older, I realised that I connect to the Webb and Watts Films more and to me they feel more like what Stan Lee (R.I.P.) wanted for Spider-Man. Hence why you see me ranking the Garfield and Holland films above the Raimi Films. Ntm, I also realised Raimi's style isn't for me.
    c) I can respect other people's opinions as long as they respect mine and not act as if I "Objectively wrong" to have So many Movies ranked above SM2 and ITSV (I haven't seen ATSV Yet).
    d) I can understand why SM1 may still be your favourite because of your personal reasons you had mentioned in your Top 20 Favourite Comic Book Movies Video.

I wasn’t alive for the release of all 3 OG Raimi films, being born in 2008, I did grow up with them. My parents showed them to me when I was like 5 or 6, but while I liked them, I didn’t love them. I’ve only appreciated it more and more over the years. I noticed they are intense, emotionally riveting, thematically rich, goofy, fast paced, and so much more, especially the original which I’ve watched 20 times. That is proof that childhood nostalgia being the reason people love them is invalid.

But boy did Hans Zimmer let it rip. Thanos' story and quest got completed at the end and he finished his arc as the winner.

He isn't given enough time to really thrive as Venom because Sam Raimi hates the character and didn't give him the proper attention. 15:19 The thing that separates Across The Spider-Verse from something like Rise of Skywalker is that in Rise of Skywalker (or most other examples of bad fan service), the story serves the fan service is the priority rather than telling a good story it's using gimmicks to go "hEy yOU rEMebEr tHIs" meanwhile in Across the Spider-Verse the fan service serves the story and is always used to enhance it and there's plenty to love outside of the fan-service, so to sum it up the story should always come first and fan-service is no exception, if it helps the story, great and if it doesn't you shouldn't include it and that's why something like Rise of Skywalker doesn't work while Across the Spider-Verse does.

The conclusion of gwens arc is beautiful, and the scene of miles swinging through earth 42 and hallucinating was so emotionally powerful and isnt being talked about enough. I felt that Miles was given payoff within the story as well, earlier on with the miguel confrontation and also when he tells his mum that hes spider man. I honestly don't understand why people need resolution in a part 1 of movies, the definition of the term (part one of) means incomplete. The difference between Avengers and Spider verse is that Infiniti War and End Game is not a part 1 and two, it's two separate movies completing one story were across the spider-verse and beyond the spider-verse is one long story. Watch any TV show with a continuous plot, and if they have an episode with a part 1 and 2, part 1 will definitely cut off in the exciting part with no resolution, it's just more excepted because it's a tv show but it makes a lot of sense

Here's a hot take that'll probably get me burnt: Spider-Man 2 is the worst of the Raimi Trilogy. Most of the characters in the movie aren't likeable at all. Mary Jane is very manipulative, Peter's decisions (such as buying a ticket to MJ's play he supposedly doesn't have money for it) are all stupid, Harry is very unsympathetic (and it makes no sense why he would sell the apartment in the first movie while supposedly knowing about Peter's struggles), and Doc-Ock is not only very reckless throughout the film, but also not smart with his plan to rebuild the machine, and it's very contrived he never gets caught throughout the city. The movie does have some good bits with Aunt May and JJJ is still as funny as ever though, but that's about it. (I would explain more, but you asked to keep it as brief as possible.)

As a movie it had to take more risks as it didn’t have a fan base who had no point of reference to a real Spider-man (Sam’s Spider-man) and who’s early fans would’ve watched it as it looked like a fun film at the time that brought together a lot of people who had recently suffered a tragedy OR a fan base that is easy to please as long as the characters drops cheesy one liners every second and fits in their place in the MCU rather than being just a good character (interesting how Toms best spiderman movie is the one relying on his predecessors.) I even think NWH has made some people realise that Andrew was and has the better spiderman (at least his first movie.)

For a movie to be the greatest film of all time it will have to beat out over 100 years of classic films. That's not likely to happen in today's age but for me, I honestly think that Avengers: Endgame is the greatest movie of all time. I have watched thousands upon thousands of movies from each decade but nothing gave me the feeling that both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame did. In my opinion, the two greatest movies I've ever watched.

I think into the spider verse is a really solid b+ movie, although people saying it's the best Spiderman movie are missing a major point, is that the action sequences of the movie are a major drawback, is pretty mediocre and offers nothing new
In the name of merging different art styles, the action feels disorienting, and sometimes you can't really tell who's punching who
Also I think the cut out animated style of spider punk comes across as really weird, and also he looks somehow different than the rest of the characters, even weirder. Live action and Lego characters don't feel as jarring somehow.
Also I think the movie ends on such a high that it makes us forget about the shortcomings which occurred in earlier parts

ATSV is very good, I might even say great. My score is currently sitting around an 8.5/10. Could go up to a 9. But I think people are ignoring any flaws in the film because of their recency bias. It has pretty basic issues that a “perfect” movie usually does not. It isn’t a complete movie. It isn’t. And more important than the abrupt ending, it’s the fact that absolutely no plot points or character arcs are truly resolved in the end. As a matter of fact, they spend the last 20-30 minutes setting up new ones, and giving us even more questions. I know it’s a part 1 of 2. But talking about the next movie to justify a perfect score for this one doesn’t work. And it doesn’t make this film be able to stand on its own two feet. Once we’re a few months removed from the third one, I think I’ll be able to watch the first by itself, and the third by itself. But the second one has no third act/final battle. And he’s doesn’t even deal with his other self as a final battle, which should be pretty easy. Dealing with that situation and then joining Gwen and the others looking at the city into what’s next was the way to go. Cut out a bit of filler, then add that to the end. I just think the “maybe the greatest comic book films of all time” or “one of…” is forced by spectacle, recency bias, and now some people that I e talked to that deny the points I’ve made there because they are delusional.

Look I love movies and it’s very hard for me to look at any movie and say it’s awful. Comic book movies are my very favorite and spider-man is my favorite hero. I really enjoy TASM1 but TASM2 is one of the 2 worst theater experiences I’ve ever seen when it comes to the movie itself. There was way too much going on in the movie. I do think the idea of Gwen dying was great but terrible timing. If they built it up through TASM3 and at the end she dies then I would have been on board but they didn’t. I’m so glad they scrapped it and I do feel bad for Andrew and glad he got his redemption in NWH.
EDIT: In regards to the Rami trilogy, I love the Rami trilogy…but I have never cringed more hard at a scene in any move ever than I have when Tobey dances in Spider-Man 3. I skip it every time but i still enjoy most parts of it.

As you said yourself, it’s recency bias!
However I do disagree with most people’s criticism of this film because of its cliffhanger ending.
That’s what cliffhangers are meant to do!
They’re meant to leave you on the edge and tease what’s to come…
It’s almost like audiences are so use to their MCU films being all wrapped up by the end and for every character to live happily ever after, that they can’t cope with a cliffhanger ending because it doesn’t give them the satisfaction…
