Andrew is a very good actor and you don’t see him that often in movies anymore. Which is sad cuz I really liked him. But hopefully we can see him more in films, this was just a setback.
Not only have I seen TASM2 up to three times now and keep forgetting that the secret-train-reveal scene even happens, every time I watch Gwen's death, I just remember that it wasn't as impactful as I keep imagining it was. What we got was a slow, drawn-out sequence shaking us and yelling "She's gonna die! She's gonna die!". What I remember in my head is complete and utter silence as she falls at a relatively realistic speed, before a sickening thud/snap sound as the rest of the scene finishes normally. My imagination made a better movie, and I was maybe 13 when I first saw it.
I gotta say. Coming back from Spiderman No Way Home, Andrew killed it for me. They redeemed his character in my eyes at least. And I whole heartedly agree that Andrew is a good actor who got screwed over by a horrible script.
Also with Thor I like these moments where he seems somewhat ignorant (for lack of a better word) so he gets to be more funny, so when it becomes serious where he can truly show off his intelligence and problem-solving, it makes him a much better character since he has so much more to offer.
Considering Andrew Garfield's acting skills, humour, tallness, handsomeness, etc. he could've been a fantastic Spider-Man if his movies' stories were anything like the 2018 PlayStation Spider-Man game. It would just suit him well.
The Green Goblin actually scared me as a kid in these movies, Not because he evokes dread, it’s because he looks like he is about to transform into a Resident Evil Creature
Not gonna lie, Andrew Garfield's acting during Gwen's death scene makes me cry every time. He's phenomenal. Him saving MJ in No Way Home is one of the best parts of the movie too.
If peter and harry are such close friends then why does he have to sneak into oscorp in the first movie when he can just have his best and closest friend who is about to own the company just get him in?
I really hate Bens' death in this one. He bumps into Carradine, who while looking scrupulous isn't portraying any hostile signs. He drops his gun and Ben immediately goes for it like a dumbass. That's the opposite of responsible, that's darwinism.
I think it makes sense. He tells Peter that if you have the power to do something to save someone you do it. Obviously I'm paraphrasing but I think it explains why he did it. The rest of the movie I cant defend but that part I can.

I never understood in the logic of the film why Spider-Man didn't just give Harry a blood sample. I mean, it either works and Harry lives, or it doesn't. Unless I missed an explanation within the film, it seems there is no reason for Spider-Man not to do this.
I like Nostalgia Critic's theory. His theory is that the scene in which Peter went to the subway and discovered A) that Oscorp wanted to weaponize his dad's research, and B) that the only reason the spider bite worked on him was that it had been made with his dad's DNA, was originally going to be BEFORE the scene in which he denied his blood to Harry. Because in that scenario, he has a reason to distrust anyone from Oscorp, plus he knows for a fact that it wouldn't work on Harry. But the script got chopped up and the final product makes less sense.
The scene where Dr. Connors is looking at his arm's reflection is actually a form of therapy. It's called "Mirror Therapy," and it's supposed to help with phantom limb pain experienced by people who have had an amputation. The more you know.
Garfield would make a great depressed, mid-late 20’s spiderman, like during a true venom suit arc or the death of aunt may or even a good death of Gwen
The best part of that sequence is when the cashier is like "Hey, run after that guy who stole the money!" and Peter responds by saying "Nah, you were a dick earlier, so here's a witty response instead"... because it's the *EXACT SAME DIALOGUE* as in the first Raimi film! I had to pause the video and laugh at that part (and when Peter starts drawing the Spider-Man mask on graph paper, *JUST LIKE IN THAT OTHER FILM* ) This was supposed to be a new take on Spider-Man, right? So why did they copy those two things exactly as they happened in the Raimi film????? It's so weird
I watched the first movie with my mom in theaters and she actually walked out when Uncle Ben died. She was like "I've already seen this shit before" then she snuck in to another room
I kinda liked when spidey ended up in a fireman’s hat. Its really random but i dont think its supposed to be a moment you dwell on for too long. I thought it was really comic booky and thought it was a nice addition
Yeah, for real. I haven't read any Spiderman comics, but from what I understand, that seems like it would be in character (and it's not like it would take *that* long to put on like implied here).
And the thing is that marcus complains that there are almost no jokes and that these movies take themselves way too seriously but whenever there are goofy and funny moments like that he complains that it would never make sense and that Peter would never waste time joking, like I think Peter joking with rhino in the beginning was perfect and exactly something I would see in a Spider-Man comic.q
@@dingledoodles2615 when you choose to look at it technically, yeah maybe some people may have gotten injured or even killed, but that's clearly not what's happening in the movie, it's not acknowledged in the movie, it's not something that actually happens in the movie and it plays no way into the plot of the movie. One of the best parts of Spider-Man is the joking and banter he has while wearing the costume, he's supposed to feel more confident and he does it get a reaction out of the villains, if they get riled up they become more irrational. When Spider-Man fought morlunn he kept making jokes, but he never responded back and it made him worried as it meant the villain felt nothing and was extremely focused on killing Peter. And if I recall correctly, Spider-Man homecoming starts out with Spider-Man joking the entire time while fighting people who are robbing an ATM, and it results in an entire building being blown up, and it resulted in a shopkeeper being injured and his entire business and home being destroyed. That doesn't very heroic or responsible now does it? 🤔 the same thing has been done with literally every on screen live action iteration of batman, he's pushing people off buildings, strapping bombs to people, using guns, driving people over, in the dark knight trilogy he even refuses to save ra's al ghul and Talia al ghul, and for batman it's worse because his number one rule is not killing people, but most of the killing is not intentional for the plot and the ones that are intentional make for good scenes and can be overlooked because the movies are still great overall.
stoppp I actually cried in that scene. I mean at least we got a chance to get to know uncle ben before the killed him. In the original series I gotta be honest, I didn't really care he died.
The basketball scene was filmed in the summer of 2011, it was over at my old high school St. John Bosco in bellflower cali. I remember taking pictures with Andrew and the cast!
16:35 To be fair in the comics Lizard has an army of reptiles that followed his command, which would be absolutely silly to see in a live action New York setting, so Lizard wanting to turn people into giant lizards makes more sense and is more of a threat to NY and Spider-Man especially if they would be under Lizards command.
28:22 "Instead of solving already established problems, he's gonna act like those problems don't exist and do something completely different." ok out of context, that's the most relatable highschooler thing ever tho lmfao
@@phevdev I'm not totally sure, Peter is just a normal dude so I think that in the certain circumstances this could happen, it's like that time in the comics when he tried to remove his own powers because he didn't wanted the responsibility of being Spider-Man anymore but he just ended up getting 4 extra arms. I feel like if pushed to the limit he can end up doing anything even if it's totally against what he believes, like that time when he was so enraged that he ripped off someone's face by sticking his hand to it. Like I've seen some people complaining about Far From Home because Peter wanted to go on a vacation because he was stressed, but knowing how Peter acts when someone dies around him it's pretty understandable, like he is the kind of guy who blames himself for the deaths of everyone who dies around him, that thinks that he isn't good enough, like some time ago when J. Jonah Jameson's wife died and he couldn't stop it, he was really depressed, then he had nightmare where he all his insecurities appeared in front of him, it's similar to Mysterio's illusion sequence in Far From Home, also just like in the movie his Spider Sense was going off, also in the movie when Peter was making his new suit you can see in the display the suit that he made in the comics when his Spider Sense was going off, it's called Spider-Armor MK-2 and it's bullet proof, now while writing this I just realized that Far From Home is more comic accurate than I thought. Anyway I think you get it, if pushed to his limits Peter can do anything even if it's against his own beliefs, I think that this actually makes him a better character.
@@meunomeelucas8489 Yea but people are dying here, FFH peter just got done saving the universe and his father figure died so I think he can be given some slack
The revenge thing is comic accurate, it just falls apart based on the fact he already knows that it's his fault so he should've learned his lesson already.
The revenge aspect of the first movie isn't a bad concept imo, but there needed to be quicker, more clear, progression as he realises he can do a lot of good with his powers. So he naturally starts helping and saving people more and more as Spiderman, and hunts his uncles killer less and less, until he eventually drops his desire for revenge altogether because it drove him to do bad things, and he can instead look to prevent further tragedies and bloodshed. This would also require uncle Ben's death to actually be tragic and well written. So like, this movie had good ideas, but it felt like either the writer didn't know how to execute on those ideas, or there were multiple substantial rewrites causing the end result to be a mess.
Oh God, the train platform and the entire sequence leading up to it had me almost thrown out of the theater I was sitting in because I couldn't contain my anger. A fucking subway train rises up out of the ground, on what has to be a hydraulic platform and I screamed out, "ARE YOU SHITTING ME?". Not only was this a waste of storytelling and special effects, as the train car could have just been resting on the tracks and the tokens used to open the gate leading into the secret platform, but how could he have built this in secret, away from Norman and his spies, electronic surveillance, and how did he fucking pay for it? How could he have expected to keep it hidden for this long or even manage to build it under the streets of NYC without anyone knowing about it? How did he dodge the police, transit authority, or square the permits without anyone becoming the wiser, in New York? OK, say you hand handwave that all away with rotating building crews, each working one piece at a time, not knowing how the finished product would look or function ala the infamous HH Holmes Murder Castle, how do you explain his master plan of telling his son this secret that could have easily been explained as a micro cassette or CD-ROM hidden within the linings of his briefcase, that he KNEW Peter would keep as a personal memento belonging to his own father, but instead hide subway tokens inside a cheap ass calculator that could have been thrown out, or lost or misplaced rendering the entire thing moot. How would he know that at some point Peter would open said calculator to find the tokens, and know exactly what they were for? How would he know that Peter would link the subway tokens to the secret tunnel? How would he know Peter would even be looking into his disappearance, or that he would find the info that would link the two pieces of the puzzle? Every single bit of this mystery has to happen exactly as daddy planned it, but does so in such a way that every piece of evidence has to be uncovered exactly as it unfolded in the film for it to work. Its so convoluted and so complicated, and all of it just to give us information that WE THE AUDIENCE ALREADY FUCKING KNOW!
@@potmeetkettle Yeah but that's because the wounds were small but if you got stabbed cellular regeneration can only do so much. You still need treatment. Heck in the first movie after spidey got wounded by the lizard in the sewer he didn't heal. He went straight to Gwen to get treatment for the cuts. Look we found a retcon!
If you really think about it, Gwen’s death was partially her own fault. Peter tells her to stay put by the cop car, Gwen disobeys him and follows him into battle.
That actually is how leave a penny take a penny works. It's meant to help customers not to have to deal with small change to speed up transactions. Hence the take a penny part of the name.
It's only really meant to be used to make even change, not supply a deficiency. So if milk costs, $2.41 and a customer has $2.50, they can take a penny to get $0.10 back. It's not really meant for the customer who only had $2.40. But no clerk would or should ever care. I'm not trying to be a jerk to you at all, I just like adding to the give-a-penny-take-a-penny conversation, making an even bigger event out of one of the dumbest movie plotpoint catalysts ever written.
Ryan, this is not correct. The pennies in the tray don't belong to the convenience store. Those are left by other customers who don't want them, so that customers that need them can use them. They put the trays there so there's not just piles of loose coins on checkout counters.
I honestly found his motivations for becoming Spiderman really interesting. Like a darker take of the character where Peter initially sets out to avenge Uncle Ben but doesn't actually become Spiderman until he saves that boy on the bridge.
@@SYMShutYoMouth In a ton of interpretations in the comics, Peter doesn't become Spider-Man until he chooses to let go the rage and guilt in his heart.
I thought phantom pain was just a plot point to piss off Kaz in Metal Gear Solid. Neat to know it's an actual thing

@@junaydfisher211 ye but the problem with the last one is that he still lets people die lol

ZT yeah uh huh and Sony totally shit on this movie
@@brucelau2023 they completely redeemed it with spiderverse tho.
Kaneki 910 they redeemed THEMSELVES not this movie tho
@@EggsyTheVideographer both actually. I can guarantee u will hear people talking more about how good spiderverse was than how bad tasm was
Kaneki 910 I mean... yea sure I guess your right
I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING
*Right after he mentioned how Electro's tooth gap was "Magically fixed" I got a denture advert.*
LMFAO!
Hahaha
Learning A.i.
That actually is how leave a penny take a penny works. It's meant to help customers not to have to deal with small change to speed up transactions.
Hence the take a penny part of the name.
Liam Hay yeah the guy at the register was being a prick cause you apparently had to spend 10 bucks to use the take a penny, but that sooo stupid
I find it hilarious that there has been three replays about give a penny take a penny. Not hating just fucking funny 😂
Exactly. I worked at a convenience store/gas station, and no where did it say you spend anything just to use a penny.
I love coming here every once in a while and reading comments.
hahaha same
It’s crazy how no one can seem to take an opinion, albeit a bit of a harsh one.
I’ve never really seen hate comments as extreme as these
I honestly found his motivations for becoming Spiderman really interesting. Like a darker take of the character where Peter initially sets out to avenge Uncle Ben but doesn't actually become Spiderman until he saves that boy on the bridge.
His Uncle dying in front of him doesn’t make him want to be a hero? But saving a random child did? Come on. This movie sucks. Give it a rest.
@@SYMShutYoMouth In a ton of interpretations in the comics, Peter doesn't become Spider-Man until he chooses to let go the rage and guilt in his heart. Read Ditko Spider-Man and the "This be my destiny" moment where he finally lets go of his guilt and finally becomes a hero for his own sake instead of feeling guilt about Uncle Ben.
@@AyuNico exactly
@@SYMShutYoMouth bro him saving the boy shows him how he can use his powers to save people and not for revenge
yeah he was nitpicking because it wasnt the real spiderman story. But its way better to do something new than just repeat the story everone already knows
Captain Stacy: I want you to stay away from Gwen so she'll be safe.
Peter: I missed the part where that's my problem.
ILL STAY AWAY FROM GWEN WHEN YOU FIX THIS DAMN DOOR 🚪
Have my 69th like sir
In the ones words of amazing Spiderman two the game Peter Parker
“Not my problem”
Tobey: friendzones MJ to keep her safe.
Andrew: tells Gwen he's Spider Man to impress her to be his girlfriend.
And guess what he got her killed.
wait..you might have something going on.
Okay, now you got me thinking of an idea. I wanna see a movie where the superhero knows that anyone knowing his identity is a sure death sentence, and he uses that as a weapon, telling a few evil enemies his real identity so they die.
@@potmeetkettle So like Reverse Death Note or something?
The KTCrew
I haven’t seen Death Note, but from what I’ve heard, people die if the protagonist writes their name in the book and he can choose how they die too. I want this death to be more unexplainable and uncontrollable. The superhero knows a person will die if they know his identity but can’t control how it happens and he doesn’t know why it happens.
@@potmeetkettle ahhh I gotcha
I actually kinda like how this version of spiderman starts off as being a rather mean guy and merely seeking revenge
Jamie Foxx was incredibly miscast as a Revenge of the Nerds style nerd. Also, why the hell did a movie made in 2014 have a Revenge of the Nerds style nerd?
+Bill Volk It was written by the guys that wrote the Transformers movies, that's why.
Matt Ward I know he didn’t know Spider-Man’s age but it was very uncomfortable to watch this grown ass man fantasize over a teenager the way he did
@@jazzg4570 You know, until now that never even occurred to me because of how old Andrew Garfield looked in that movie.
You do realize that jamie foxx asked to be electro right?
@@27mizukage He probably thought he'd be playing something like the comic book version of Electro, which is totally different from what we got in this movie.
Remember when Raimi built up Harry for three movies? I remember.
Yes harry was so good in spider man trilogy and was so bad in this for me the worst thing of tasm 2 its harry i hate this harry so much , i actually like to show something about spider-man parents because they never show us nothing, uncle ben the death its great in sam raimi, its weird in here, in tom holland spider man uncle ben never appears, harry dont appears, gwen and mary jane doesn t exist, its nice to have new characters like ned and mariah jones like mariah jones after j.jonah jameson in sam raimi trilogy its probably the funniest character of spider man dont including spider man himself, the problem with asm its they ruined harry, and electro storyline was bad, and the problem with mcu spider man is they ignore harry, uncle ben, mary jane/gwen stacy thats why spider man trilogy yes including the third one its the best spider man films
Spider man 2
Spider man
Spider man 3
Spider man far from home
Spider man homecoming

The amazing spider man 2
The only thing bad about Harry is that James Franco’s performance
blame sony
@@frankmerker630 how
@@frankmerker630 james franco is one of the best actors and is more relevant than anyone casted in the spiderman series. what are you talking about lmao?
"you can't afford a milk" that's depressing
It is, and actually happens to me all the time. That's why I hate these movies even more.
Did daddy not give you enough milk money today?
Elliot Deverell-White That was uncalled for 😂
@nigga el chapo well he made the fluid out of chemicals, and he ran off without taking money, all he had was pocket change
How much does milk cost in this city?
I am so glad that No Way Home exists because it proves that it was entirely Sony’s fault for these movies sucking shit. Would like to see Andrew get another solo film in the future.
