    Yay! Happy to see you! 12 lbs down in 60 days so far on 1500 calorie intake. Goal is 50lbs. Invested in rowing machine and stationary bike a few weeks ago and now incorporating rowing for a few min and 30min on bike 3 to 4 days a week. Thanks so much for the great health tips!!

      You can’t rely on motivation because it’s fleeting. If you only do what you need to do when you’re motivated, you won’t do it very much. It just has to be something non-negotiable that is part of your life, whether you feel like doing it or not. Good luck! 🖤

      I agree! Motivation isn't enough, its hard to stay consistent, building habits by starting small really does help. I struggled with this concept for awhile, but now I'm confident enough to say that I've become more consistent at incorporating as much activity as I can into my lifestyle. With that said, motivation still does help, personally its being a role model to my younger sisters so they can keep active and stay healthy as well as myself especially during this pandemic, but finding the meaning to keep going for yourself is just as important. You can do it!💪 Good luck!!!

      @@rolandorzabal1955 she’s not claiming to be one. But speaking of habits (which here are encouraged), yes she’s spot on. I made choices like these as a kid and people my age look and some even younger than me look older than me, it’s ridiculous. Half the time if we stick to making these choices we wouldn’t need a doctor as often. Not saying ever just less, and you didn’t specify but you might be speaking of cases where it is more difficult for the individual then yes a healthcare professional would be needed then.

      @@redfirebelle I wouldn't say she is spot on but rather her methods work for some and not others. I don't count calories and lose weight others not so much. It depends on many factors including pcos, thyroid issues etc.

      @@rolandorzabal1955 Having healthy habits is a good thing. The cases you are talking about like pcos which some of my girl pals have and thyroid issues my aunt has then yes they did see a doctor for that, they had to. No one is challenging that.

    So glad I jumped off this diet crazy train a long time ago. She knows diets (and eat less move more is a diet) fail 95% to 97% of the time. Children require 1,600-2,000 + calories a day and 1,200-1,600 is considered starving for a body. This is the same useless message that does not work except to make her richer. Diets got me up to 265-300+ lbs with a nice eating disorder - I have been 165 -170 lbs for 20+ years by listening to my body and not "gurus" - try a intuitive nutritionist, therapist, overeaters anonymous - there is a better way

    What's your take on frozen fruit oppose to fresh. I work alot and dont have time to cut up fruit so frozen works for me with my smoothies. What do you recommend?

      Yes I like frozen too, I have been doing a little research and I found that frozen is more nutrient packed based on the fact that it's picked then frozen where non frozen fruit loses nutrients as it sits on the shelf.

      Research shows, nutritionally there is no difference between frozen & fresh fruit and veg. Some vegetables are actually slightly better frozen. As long as you're eating tons of fruits and veg thats whats important! :)

    Hi Jillian your arms look great I think that looks so much better than the real skinny look... you look so in shape... I hit a rapid weight gain after a surgery and now I am starting to go down... I’m not supposed to get my blood pressure much over 100... what a challenge, I have worked out my whole life...     Great video once again from our queen Jillian Michael's couldn't expect anything less. I really appreciated the thyroid source examples. My local grocery store doesn't have good sources of iodine besides salt and I'm more interested in finding seaweed flakes I can easily put on my meals

    High fiber and high protein foods have a great thermic effect of food. A good 30% of total calories can be lost during digestion of you solely eat them. Where as processed foods can be as much as 10-15%. On a 2000 cal diet this can be as much as 300 calorie difference in thermic effect of food. That’s a free cardio session right there

      Yes! I'm 33 ,but I get painful trigger points in my back and butt muscles after I weight lift. I take turmeric with curcumin and ginger to help with inflammation and my husband will massage them for me. I take Epsom salt baths. It helps ,but I'm in constant pain and tension. I can't afford a physical therapist either. I take Tylenol here and there,but I don't want it to kill my good bacteria in my gut. I would love help too! Weight lifting makes me feel mentally amazing and I enjoy it!

    I'd love to hear about how to get back on track when you've fell way off for over a month. I feel like I now crave EVERYTHING UNHEALTHY. It's so much more of a fight to be in a calories deficit. And have a healthy balanced diet. I have lost 156 pounds since May 2019. But when I moved me and my 3 son's in to our new home it's like I lost all of my will power and motivation. Please help.     I have hashimoto thyroiditis and swing back and forth between hyper and hypo. So frustrating because I eat good but no matter what its like cant seem to get my immune and hormones in check. I'm thinking I should stop my medication because I was fine waaaay before I started taking it, just scared of the outcomes if stop.

    Agree with the selenium zinc & iodine Jill! I have hyper thyroid Ian so lose weight rapidly but it is annoying to get muscle wastage when I like to be healthy & work hard for my lean muscle gain. But once I overhaul my diet & stay on track my thyroid levels settle & I see my body gaining weight & muscle I also look & feel healthy. Also sleep guys! As silly as it sounds sleep helps your metabolism x

    can you make a video about how often one should workout per week, if they are trying to lose fat and tone up? I always want to make more time for workouts but student life and my student job doesn’t make that easier for me, so 3 times per week is most times the maximum I can do.       Adding a fiber supplement is LOW KEY one of Jillian's best advice. I am on day 2 of adding a small dose before lunch and then again for dinner and I am floored. I usually STRUGGLE with late afternoon snacking and too many after dinner treats. This supplement has knocked out my cravings 100%! I have the brand NOW psyllium husk caps and also Nutricost Glucomannan. THANK YOU JILLIAN!

    Happy Sunday Miss Jillian! Thank you for these weekly post! I greatly appreciate it as I am going into week 3 of trying to loose weight. I think I am at a Plato . I have been stuck at the same weight for a week. No inches lost as I am stuck here. Any advice?
    I have been walking 45-60 min on the treadmill and making sure I get 10,000 steps a day and also really watching my meals. They have been 100% clean and 1 cheat day.

    Some questions for a future video: (1) How can you tell if you are eating enough (once you are down to your target weight)? You explained how you can tell if you are drinking enough water during the day but what are signs of not eating enough or too much (assuming that all the weight has been lost)? (2) Ratio of Foods for each meal? Example Carbs x Proteins x Fat x Vegetables what are the Percentages of each to stay lean? (3) How many meals per day and an example of each? (Again, assuming that all the weight has been lost already and now in a maintenance phase). **Your videos are excellent - I watch them all!!! Thank You for taking the time to publish...Mark

      1. If you are maintaining your weight with relative ease and are happy with the amount of food you're eating. If you feel like you're still on a "diet" and would like to eat more, its proababy not enough. And if your current eating habits support your fitness & health goals, its probably enough. Signs you're not eating enough are different for everyone but common signs are low energy, mood swings, low motivation etc. But these can also be signs you're not eating enough high quality nutritious foods like fruits & veg.
      2. The scientific community is conflicted as to which ratio is the best. Overall what actually matters is which is the best for you. A common ratio is around 40% carbs/ 30 protein/ 30 fats. But ultimately the ratio that you can sustain for the rest of your life is the best one for you. For example if you feel you lack energy during workouts, its probably better to increase carbs especially around your workouts. Overall, higher protein diets have shown numerous benefits so aim for around 2g per kg of bodweight per day unless you have pre-existing liver/kidney conditions. Most vegetables are seen as carbs so count them as such.
      We all have a certain amount of calories our body needs to stay healthy and survive. This number differs depending on how tall we are, how active we are, how much muscle we have etc. and changes daily. Easiest way to know what that number is to you is to track what you eat for about 2 weeks. If your weight stays the same that is your "maintanence" calories. Ultimately being very lean is usually not sustainable for long periods of time so try find the physique you are happy with & can easily maintain and stick with that amount of food.
      There is no "ideal" amount of meals per day. Depending on your schedule and the amount of calories you can eat in a day will ultimately determine how many meals you can have. Ultimately it doesnt matter much as long as you hit your calorie and protein goals.

    Hi Jillian! I and many women suffer with hypothyroidism and would love to hear your input on it. It is difficult to lose that extra 10 pounds and is easy to lose motivation with hypothyroid. Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about it, love your videos ❤️

      Hypothyroidism is difficult to deal with especially when it comes to weight-loss. unfortunately in order for ANYONE to lose weight, no matter what diet you follw, you need to be in a calorie deficit (Eating less calories than your body is burning everyday.).
      Hypothyroidism just makes it more difficult to get into a calorie deficit, BUT not impossible. The best person to speak to would be your doctor but some tips that have helped my clients:
      1. Try and do 10 000 steps everyday.
      2. Track your calories so that you can find out your maintanence calorie goal. From there subtract 300 - 500 calories from that and try and stick to those calories consistently.
      3. If lowering calories is not an option, try and increas your energy expenditure by walking more or adding in low intensity cardio 3x per week.
      4. Get help. Hire a trainer/nutritionist who is well educated in the condition. The right coach will be the best investment you'll make.
      It is a struggle but not impossible. There are thousands of women who suffer with hypothyroidism but can still lose weight with the right strategy. Don't let it be your "crutch." (not saying that you are using it as such by the way haha)
