Thanks for your comment. I should pin a comment to the top as I have contacted DJI and asked them to rectify. I showed them the videos. They sent a label to ship over to the Netherlands (Our European repair facility) and said it would be done. I will update as it goes and comes back. Hopefully they will correct it as another person has theirs back and it is not right still. I guess the real disappointing thing is so many cameras from multiple batches are like this. Especially when the quality from DJI is normally so good. Personally I have 2 x Osmo pockects and a Mini 2. I have previously owned and air 2 and a action 2. All have been great. It does feel like they rushed this to market to beat the Go Pro to lauch. I would also imagine there are a lot more soft focusing units than not. A lot of people may not even realise. I will update when i have it back from DJI. Thanks again.
Am having a especial trip in May to London and I really won'ted a action camera so I bought the combo edition.. I was really disappointed that I had to return it and dissappeard with dji to release a camera with a focus issue can't understand why would they do this..
Had to send 2 Osmo Action 3's back. 1st one manufactured 9/22 and the 2nd one was manufactured 10/22. Both had the soft image issue. I have the Osmo Action 1 and was wanting to upgrade to the 3. Going to try again to buy the Osmo Action 3. It's a shame that DJI is still allowing bad cameras to be sent out. Thanks for the video.
I have contacted DJI, I am going to send it to them. I will update as and when they comeback. Thanks for letting us know how you got on with yours. The action one still stands up and holds such a good second hand value.
I bought my Action 3 the day it was released. I updated the firmware but still had the muddy image. Unfortunately I wasn’t willing to settle for a sub par image and so I returned it and bought the Hero 11. The hero 11 has much better image quality.
@@traveling-taylors Not sure what you mean by glitching.Overall I loved the camera (battery life, usb-c mic adapter, menus, size, everything!). But the image was just plain bad. I was honestly sad to send it back!
@@vika0194 Because I didn't think it was an issue that could be remedied with a new unit, It seemed (and still seems) like it's just a flawed lens calibration. I hope they can fix it because I'm a huge DJI fanboys (I own lots of DJI drones, wireless mic, Osmo 6, DJI RS Mini 3, etc.) and I would love to own and use the A3!
I've been looking for a camera to document a month long hiking trip which I leave for in a couple of weeks. Ordered an insta360 X3 at first but when it turned up the two buttons on the front didn't work which was frustrating but not as frustrating as dealing with their support. Lots of boiler plate responses and no clear idea of how long a repair would take (you have to send it to Hong Kong for that). Anyway, opted to return for refund as the my confidence in build quickly & their aftersales support wasn't great at this point - also really had to argue for the refund. Have been looking for other options the last few days and while the Action 3 is the most appealing I don't want to roll the dice on the focus issue. I've watched just about every video about the camera on youtube & there definitely are some that don't have the issue (without modifications). I think DJI's stance on not admitting the physical issue has also really put me off. Anyway, apologies for the rant, just shouting into the void a bit. I think I'll just have to skip documenting my trip unfortunately. Thanks for putting the time into these videos, it's great to have an honest view of what the issues are and how DJI has approaching handling them.
Feel free to rant away :-) I would suggest getting an Osmo Pocket - Original. You can get a wide angle lens attachment (which still gives better quality than all the action cams) You will have stable footage with a gimbal. We have 2 and film most of our vlogs with them at the minute. Just so easy to use. If you film in D-Cinelike you will get wider dynamic range, but if you just want good colour and no grading they are great for that to. I would suggest getting a few memory cards and a battery pack. 4k 60fps can eat cards and battery. All round a great little camera.
@@traveling-taylors I hadn't looked at the pocket cameras before - I think this might actually be better for my use case of hiking. Some trade offs vs action cams but improved quality is certainly a big plus. Thanks for the suggestion, maybe there is hope after all!
Mine also was off focus. I've focused it using hose clamp and pliers. I warmed the camera @4k 120p until shutoff to soften the lens glue. You can find here the video with this method of focusing this camera. It is pointless to return and get new one. There is little chance to receive focused one.
That's great, I am under instruction to send it back and allow them the opportunity to fix the focus. That will leave the warranty intact. Although it would be questionable that moving a moving part could invalidate the warranty.
So frustrating !!! I've played the game of returning my original OA3(09/2022mfg) and got a replacement (11/2022mfg) that also had the same soft image issue. Subsequently, I have exchanged a total of 5 additional OA3's with manufacturing dates of 11/2022, 12/2022 & 01/2023 all with the same exact soft image issue!!!! The repair team @ DJI of Cerritos, CA is just cycling thru my units without even looking at the issue. I really like this camera but at this point, may seek to get a full refund.
I returned my osmo action 3 combo didn't like the image my build was also sep 22 for now I will continue to use my phone to capture some video and photos... Wish you well
Thanks, Fair play to you. The image quality is not good for so many people. We are going to give them a chance to make it good. If they quality is still unacceptable it will have to go back. Best Wishes
I will be making a follow up shortly, their response after sending the second one has been awful. The camera is still out of focus and they have a comparison image to work to that is out of focus itself. When I get a minute I will put it together
How do Graham and Michelle. TBH honest, seems that its not just the dji mini cams, its the go pros too. I'm just using my dji osmo gimbal and P30 at the moment cos basically I was gifted them to start the channel off but having followed many channels where these action cameras are breaking down/over heating etc is not covering them in any glory. Being a photographer like I am, you probably are more concious of film and image quality and yours has not filled me with confidence either. Personally, I'd not mess with it but send it back. I'll see what happens when I start to do vids for my channel. Great that you are doing practical videos of use to prospective content creators though and as ever, I always appreciate and enjoy your videos. As ever, Bessy regs-Kenny
@@traveling-taylors That one of the downsides of being a photographer, Graham. Be it a 24-70 or dji osmo action camera, we expect out images to be sharp.......and obviously , "The Boss " is always right 😉
Will have a look, although never had a problem with the original Osmo pockets. Seems like in their rush to beat DJI to market they didn't quite have the QC
Send it back for a refund, not a replacement 😉 I initially bought the action 3, but went back to GoPro 11 The action 3 is fabulously simple to use, but the F oCCuU us issue 😏 I even got a replacement, all the software is up to date, but it is still blurry 🙁 I do have other DJI products and love them 😁 they just messed up big time on the action 3 😧

Thanks for commenting. Yeah I have older phones with fixed focus and smaller sensors that produce a clearer image than my Action 3 at the moment. 🤞that it comes back corrected

Very very low light to any test (high ISO, even more blure effect)...btw I craced my OA3 with 30cm long tweezers ;)
