I think he should watch hbomberguy's video on it first. Not cos he needs to, but it's just a fantastic video lol. But yeah it'd be fun to see what his reaction to it and to all the jank would be
Your comparison of RE Village to Sonic Unleashed, and Frontiers being a strand-type game is the kinda things that got me subbed so long ago. And you brought back the So I've Been Playing format back too, so now I get to looksee some games I didnt see before. Heck yea :) Cheers Thor!
I gotta say, I'm really thankful that I'm not the only person who saw Forces' writing as not that bad, honestly. I get so used to people trashing "THATS WHY ITS CALLED WAR" and like. yeah that line is weird, but it's just nice to see them act like characters instead of just walking gags.
12:18 dripped out Amy is from Sonic the Comic, which was published in Europe. Not to be confused with Archie’s Sonic The Hedgehog, published in America and where Ian Flynn (the writer helping with the story of this game) got his start.
I think what's more ridiculous is the notion that you ought like everything and that everything is somehow good and you're not allowed to recognize that some things just aren't very good.
Atama sounds dope, I love my Siren and have been more than a little disappointed by how few games take inspiration from the Siren series with how many cool ideas it has that could be expanded upon.
Surprisingly, there was a Half-Life 2 mod called "Flesh" that features gameplay based around sightjacking. I played it before I played Siren or even knew what it was. I don't really remember much of it and don't know how it would hold up today, but I remember it being actually scary but also quite jank (like any Siren-inspired game should be).
As soon as I saw those floating heads I thought of Junji Ito's Hanging Baloons manga, and now I'm even more scared of this game 😱 Edit: the Steam page info confirmed my theory, omg
These thor videos are always a treat. You come in expecting one thing and the guys delivers 20 different things alongside it. Plus you get that sweet uncanny presentation style
I think that the Way of the Samurai games really suffered from scaling up to larger and more complicated worlds. In the first game things were very compact, and it made it pretty easy (after a few playthroughs) to understand how different pieces interacted. You could probably get AN ending on a first run (as long as you didn't start on Hard and get wrecked immediately in the first fight.) The world and schedules were small enough to keep in your head. And that's exactly what the best ending required. To know the events of the game's days so well that you could show up, and intervene at every important decision. I could never really get the hang of the games after the first.
Interestingly, there's already quality-of-life mods to fix a lot of your little gripes with Frontiers. You can turn off the obnoxious MINIBOSS HAS SEEN YOU cutscenes, make the speed/ring levelling quicker, etc. You can also turn off the music muffling when boosting, so you can enjoy the cyberspace music properly. The community have stepped in to fine tune it nicely.
@@Krystalmyth Almost all the tweaks are super easy to apply too. No individual mod downloads needed. You just need the Hedge Mod Manager app (look it up), set it to the Development branch (in Settings) and it'll give you a whole panel of little tweaks and toggles for Frontiers. I use: Disable Boost Audio Filter, Disable Framerate Limiter In Cutscenes, Disable Guardian Introductions, Disable in-game lietterboxing, Disable Power Boost Cutscene, Disable Vignette, Fix Resolution Reset On Launch, Force 4k Video Playback and Hide Skip Button In Cutscenes.
Downloading the Hedgemodmanager comes with a lot of these built in too, I'm loving the new momentum, and the fact you actually do have to parry attacks now (timing is still forgiving enough to not be overbearing).
Man, I got a bit suspicious when I saw the video length but I still got mindblown when the intro was over and the true purpose of the video was revealed Also the actual countdown bit was amazing, you're taking the piss outta tierlist content with such precision you could be a bladder surgeon!
The music you used for the title cards of each of the 5 reasons is beautiful I just don't get what it is about your editing style that just... It's so unique and like.. Nostalgic? Ahh, I just love your videos so much. :)
Acquire made the first two Tenchu and the last one, with games in between developed by K2 and when that happened Acquire then created similar series called Shinobido. Tenchu changed ownership and publisher many times with From Soft being the last and current owner. It's kinda confusing history.
For real, when I heard the "Find the Flame" and "Undefeatable" I genuinely thought I had to take out Guilty Gear Strive as the game with the best OST for AMVs possible, but GGS has too many good songs for that so Sonic Frontiers will take honorable place for me.
As the unironic Sonic Forces enjoyer, I honestly felt validated because yeah, Frontiers defo makes Forces feel like the "rough transition" to it, in a good way. The things I like about Forces either make a comeback or properly fleshed out so yeah
In recent years it was good to see many of the beloved franchises to break out the rut and get back on track. Both in terms of fans' and newcomers' positive feedback and development cycle (i.e. no more misplaced priorities or development hell, for example). Like, Final Fantasy, Ace Combat, Resident Evil, Kojima games, Gran Turismo - all healthy now. Looks like Sonic has now joined the rehabilitated crowd. Death Stranding is a source of inspiration I certainly approve of. Silent Hill might deliver too (if not with 2, then perhaps with f). Maybe Front Mission will walk tall again too one day. There is hope. Great material as always. Peace ☮️
Apparently the soundtrack has stuff like Armenian folk samples in it, which is really bizarre and creative and also cool. Almost makes me wanna get the CD soundtrack.
I've been binge watching all the videos (of your channel) that I could today, I was even searching one to put while washing the dishes rn Thanks for that timing, lol
Having played ~10hrs of Kamiwaza I can safely say that if some elements of it got polished up it'd be one of my favourites ever. The mask/wanted system, village reputation system and balance between saving money/donating to the guild/donating to the village/buying medicine are really great starting points for could be a great emergent gameplay/choices
Loved your pronunciation of Jogos (it's brazilian portuguese btw). If I'm not mistaken I might have that CD. I have 22 of those. They were sold on those (trashy) game magazines.
Haw, I loved your use of Outrun music immediately after showcasing a game that made me slavishly remember and appreciate my memories of that game while tantalizingly not actually mentioning it.
Neer knew Way of the Samurai got its successor, and im glad you talked about this game! Its so beautifully weird and strangely fun, the music awoke some memories again :D
This game was the most polarizing me and my friend had when we were discussing it like at 1st we were excited for it and then we weren't and then we were again and then we go back to not being excited for it when the game officially came out but then my friend bought it and realized it's not that awful. Like yeah it has jank, it definitely does and you can feel it especially in the level design but the fact that they gave sonic a more realized open world to run around and it actually works super well for him, the combat is actually fun and the music I don't think I need to mention any more about the music it speaks for itself. Plus since it's just sonic Tails knuckles and Amy in terms of the main character cast, they actually get better flushed out and the main villain is actually pretty good. H*** the fact that they brought big the cat back and give him one of the best fishing Mini games of this generation with the most dope fishing theme I've ever heard.... I am literally considering buying this lol.
i only made it through the opening thirty seconds so far bc i had to stop rn and comment on how said thirty seconds made everything inside of me scream with joy so tysm for that, real nice edit, very pogchamp edit: seriously like chicken noodle asmr for my adhd soul
After listening to person after person be overly critical on this and many other games, its nice to know Thor has my back in enjoying flawed but fun games.
I swear you're the only person that brings up that Tenchu isn't made from FromSoft, it frustrates me to no end watching someone talk about Tenchu as if it was a building block for Soles games
Sega deserves an award for making pop in a game mechanic. The amount of times I an obstacle pops in my face and i take the detour is funny and actually neat.
I never thought that such sound fonts and photorealistic landscapes wou jell with the Sonic brand, but they do. It's not dissonant at all. And if there's one word that defines the essence of Thor, it's freaking "vibe". Everything you do and say in your videos is a vibe!

Insanely hype to hear your take on Harvestella. Shit's so weird and messy, it feels like FF12 and Rune Factory had a baby with a Persona game.
Dear Thor, please free the ”Free Yuji Naka" rap.

Thor is truly a mad man. I've never been more hyped to watch multiple game reviews hidden inside a top 5 sonic video lol
Thor's is one of the only Sonic Frontiers takes I am interested in hearing
100%
I'm still super intrigued what happens when Thor discover Pathologic 1 and 2.

I could never really get the hang of the games after the first.
I've always felt like 1 and 3 worked the best because of how compact they were. 2 and 4 felt too big and too confusing.
