The music in the WipEout series are so integral to the atmosphere and aesthetic that it wouldn't be WipEout without it. Plus the soundtracks are all bangers.
Sonic Riders feels like a fever dream. I remember that one sega track that changes themes and that heaven and hell dimension track that ends in a vietual cyber tunnel. The cluttered mechanics add to that as well. But shit was fun I remember. Also the OP kicked ass.
That's likely the most played game of my entire childhood and I played LOTS of games. I vividly remember all the stages, but the Sega land one was probably my favorite. The heaven and hell one was coo tool. Remember the crazy tax part of the Sega land one where you literally get into the taxi and drive for a bit? Honestly those games are so underrated. There was also a space stage I vividly remember
I played Sonic Riders until my hands were raw, I mean literally, I remember I had blisters at one point. I loved how there was so much to master but it was never fun to race my friends because it's definitely not a pick up and play racer..
Even the modern more "sane" Sonic racing games step into WTF territory. Seeing the guy from Shenmue driving an arcade cabinet or a nascar car transforming into a Dreamcast controller shaped boat is quite bizarre to me. If you ask me every big franchise should have a go at a kart racing spin-off, imagine a Dark Souls racer, or a Capcom one but only with the characters from the more "serious" games so you can have Leon, Dante and Ryu going against Amaterasu and a dinosaur from Dino Crisis.
@@guitarhero01234 there's a Panzer Dragoon circuit in Sonic & all Stars Racing Transformed, I'd say that counts, even if the dragons aren't rideable. There's only four games and a remake in the whole series so I don't know if waiting for a weirdo spinoff is wise.
Glad to see WipEout 3 get some love here! Oddly enough, the creator of WipEout got his inspiration from listening to some techno while playing Super Mario Kart. He wanted to make WipEout a sort of mesh of F-Zero and Super Mario Kart. And finally, Super Mario Kart itself only came about from a failed attempt at making a split-screen multiplayer version of F-Zero for the SNES. Pretty crazy full-circle, no?
Im disappointed for the fact we live in the time line where it still didnt happen Furthermore a Penguin Stranding is basically a must so whyy kojima whyyyy

Yeah it is sick. I had many many hours in that game back in the 00s. Also some of the challenges to unlock the really high tier boards are insanely difficult and require basically complete mastery of the game mechanics.
World 3 is a personal favorite too. I'm going to try Cyber Sleuth in a short while, probably gonna love it since it has almost the same gameplay with awesome character designs.
I remember hearing how they were all meh at best and terrible at worst, but I've been tempted to try one anyway because Digimon is deep rooted in my childhood even though I haven't played/watched in ages. I'll give World 3 a go at some point based on this comment section alone.
@@RexcorJ Digimon World 3 is one of my favorite childhood games, and it's a game that I've replayed probably up to 15 times. The only other single player game I've replayed that much would be Mario 64 DS. However, I have to say that DW3 still has two massive flaws- there is a ton of backtracking (and no fast travel until later, but even then it's still not "fast"), and, a guide is pretty much required in some segments or else you'll spend hours just walking around not knowing what to do or what random npc to talk to. It's really unfortunate. The atmosphere, charm, and nostalgia are what make the game so good to me personally. This game has some of the cutest pixel art in the overworld, and the in-battle models are really good for its time. Maybe its just me, which it probably is, but you made Sonic Riders seem more complicated than it actually is i think? Now granted everything said is super true, and indeed it has lots of room for legitimate skill, and yes you do have to take care to manage you air carefully HOWEVER, the first time running through the story mode does a pretty cool job of easing you in I think. Like Air (which is your gas) will never drop to zero if you dont neglect tricks, stick spinning, Pit Stops, and if you dont have a drifting addiction (something I can assure you the game will break your habit if you have one) then you wont have to worry about over drifting. As well as boosting DOES drop your Air but boosting doubles as your attack and when you pull off a attack you get some air back for your trouble as well as smacking whoever is ahead but also as well boosting too many times will drop a full tank to empty in 10 seconds flat. Air Ramps as well have their ups and down: If someone is tearing up the track and beasting everyone then you can just as easily ride their wind ALLLLL the way up to first, then if a air ramp is underneath a secret zone (Indicated by big red and white up arrows)then you can trick up top to gain a massive amount of rings or find hidden paths, THEN if you are riding someone's air ramp YOU lose no air riding it AND you gain air from doing tricks for free with no chance of messing up. Its that good. The only downside is you are completely and 100% at the mercy of the direction of whoever is leading it takes. So if they are going off a cliff then you have to hold left or right to exit out of their Turbulence (I just remembered that is the official name for someones "Air Ramps"). I think as well people are able to ride the turbulence and attack anyone and everyone including the leading player. Really though Air management becomes less of a thing if you pick uo more and more rings which increase your air tank, which i like better to do than picking up coin that make me go slightly faster or items that i have never have actual control over. There are also no stupid Deus Ex machina items that ruin the game only rings, Invincibility i think, and Air tanks. I personally think the world of this game for being so skill heavy. Like they were aware air management was a bitch so they included a mode where if you run out of air in the middle of a race then you automatically drop out and rank. As well as the challenge modes that took many months but me as a 12 year old could do it and unlock SUPERSONIC for beating the game 100%.
Sonic riders is one of my favourite racing games, but it lacks a proper tutorial and "how to" about all the mechanics, once you get the mechanics, the flow of each track and character, its great. The sequel got rid of the resource management and other systems tied to it which many think it was a mistake, i enjoyed it, but to me it lacked the depth of the first riders, now there is a modding project for the zero gravity, i haven't tried it yet, but looks like it fixes many of its problems and looks sick af.

Wipeout... a fresh vault of memories re opened hahah I used to play that shit with my brothers on an N64..
The Chocobo racing one is genius with the magic use.
Konami Racers is one of my favs on GBA after VRally 3. I've yet to try the Choro Q GBA games.

Boyyyy If you gon sing Sonic R, you need to SANG.
