as i say near the end, gonna switch things up a bit next year. the past 5 or so months worth of videos, including this one, are the result of several smaller video ideas compiling. mainly due to new game releases that i been trying to keep up with, messing up what lil scheduling i have, and this weird goal that i fell into of vids needing to be a certain size, or a have a certain level of 'comprehensiveness' whatever that even really means, and a couple experiments in seeing what might or might not appeal to the algo which seems to be, as i thought, entirely random, so that was a lil pointless in retrospect lol.
so next year, ill stop stressing new releases, or video length, or whatever else, and just go with my gut and make what i wanna make. will prolly result in more shorter / focused videos. not saying that i wont ever do giant vids again, but they'll at least be indented to be giant from the jump, and not cuz i kept scrapping shorter videos and mashing em together lol.

I kinda vibe with it for style reasons but it can get a bit annoying when you're interested in the game and can't find it among all the Words

Neo: The World Ends With You was probably my most played game of 2022. Loved it, wish it got more recognition.
Yeah, I got it twice, once on Switch and then once on Steam. Both 100% competed, and now I know that SE will complete forget about it and it will die in obscurity. But at least it was one of the best sequels I’ve ever played.
Honestly, the shift to japanese games is probably the best thing squeenix have done since the 90s. Not a fan of the new CEO's love of NFTs, but at least they're bringing out more games this year.
I'm hoping that Symbiogenesis gets canned before it even comes out. Maybe they can salvage the cool logo for an actual game

@@25cats Well I can blame him. Afterall, he should be aware of trends and of the industry his company is part of. The fact that a lot of these new releases, and especially the remakes etc. are so low budget proves he doesn't know what his customers want and he's underpaying the devs. That is a failure in management.
@@tomaszsotysik9438 agree on everything, except the part on the games being low budget. Their output this year was amazing and obviously AA titles arent gonna receive the same monetary treatment they give FFXVI or KH4 (if it’s actually being developed). Underpaid devs are unfortunately common in JP unless you’re known in the industry
@@tomaszsotysik9438 Additionally I'm hating their push for live service models, shafting devs (Their Eidos branch and Platinum Games) and attempting again to make an FF (FF7R) a big multimedia project that barely pans out, though I should be glad this was contained to shitty mobile games that either got cancelled or delayed. Look at a lot of decisions being made and it's absolute dogshit how they handle their game dev, with a few key IPs (DQ/FF/Nier) and developers (On both AAA/AA sides) keeping things afloat with decent product when they're not raking in the MMO money.
I've been eyeing Centennial Case for a minute now but never heard anyone talk about it, so thanks for being the first and only person and therefore selling me on it 😂
As soon as I saw videos for this on Playasia,picked this up for myself for the holidays.This only sells me on it even more

Fantastic and fascinating video as always! I had no idea Square Enix was so weird this year, and it was a lot of fun to hear about it~ I love the way you talk about and appreciate games. It’s so unique and pleasant. I didn’t play any of these, but now I have a fondness for them anyway~ I did play Harvestella this year and tbh I’ve been kind of obsessed with it. The story has no right to be as interesting as it is, and the environments it creates are so cozy and interesting and breathtaking, and I love the characters a lot too! I wish I could articulate my love for it as well as you do in your videos, but hearing you talk about games has helped me let go of the idea that I need to dislike a game cause other people do. I love being able to embrace a bigger variety of games thanks to you~

Every new Thor video feels like a national holiday. I get to discover new titles I never would have known about otherwise, all while a spiffy guide man who wears Sonic bling eloquently tells me about said titles. It gives me the same feeling as going through my Nintendo Power magazines as a kid-- like this nostalgic sense of discovery, you know? Nobody else scratches that itch quite like the High Heel Man does.

Corey Balrog has coined the term "Wide Linear" for the exact type of linear design you describe near the end. Games with a few different types of traveseral, offshoots with additional content and collectibles but ultimately still a linear experience.
It's kind of the direction that PlayStation AAA releases seem to be going. Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Part 2, Corey Balrog's God of War and it's sequel Ragnarok. Marvel's Spider-Man was just open world but even it seemed more restrained in scope to me.
You rock. Love the vids, there's no one quite like you, and I think that's great, I'm glad you're embracing it. Certainly introduced me to some neat things I woulda never come across otherwise.

Most RUclipsrs talk about gameplay and memes but rarely have much say about the scenery or art style in ways you do... and your use of 3D graphics gives me a warm feeling of days when everyone was still making wildly diverse takes on what makes a good-looking game.

This year I played some amazing games I had missed out on when new. I played Contact ds (it’s awesome), I played that guardians of the galaxy game (adored the story, liked the gameplay fine enough) played some ratchet and clank ps5, played zanki zero and gravity rush 2 ps4. Played some front mission 3 ps1 (I never played it back in the day, it’s amazing) played triangle strategy switch (it’s also pretty swell) and I played puppeteer ps3. I’m playing tales of arise now and really enjoying it. It was a good year to play old games I had always wanted to check out, and new ones too. I hope everyone had a good year, and is ready for the next one. Kudos for all the great content, too. This channel’s helped me find so many cool things right up my alley, so to speak. Looking forward to more, always.

This is my comfort video. I watch it like daily. I just love the way he talks about AA games with such sincerity and it just activates something in my brain as someone who also finds a lot joy in the budget games this gen like Kena, Scarlet Nexus, Valk Ely, Star Ocean, etc.

What a good year, maybe not for the company's sales but I loved The Centennial Case and Live a Live. Also played Neo this year, which is a genuinely amazing title.
NeoTWEWY is a future cult classic. That game should've sold so much better than it did. I wish they would add some DLC or make a sequel soon because I just wanted to play that game forever.
