      @@krazymammaw3040 I’m not sure what you’re asking. How many stitches I do for the border? If so, I just work around the dish cloth like I discussed in the Crochet Border Video. Let me know if you have more questions after watching it. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Blessings!!! ❤️

    Pro Tip: Without removing the label, look at the front of your skein. Place your right hand fingers in the center hole. You will always find the end there. The manufacturer hides the end on the right hand side, because most people are right-handed. However, if you are left-handed, as I am, you should always still pull from the right, because that is where the end is. This works for me every time.

    You might consider pulling the yarn from the center. Pulling from the side as you are causes the strands or plys to unwind. That is what causes the thin parts of the yarn. Hope it is ok to say this. Been crocheting and knitting for 60 years. Learned this in a class .

    • @CindyJohnson
      @CindyJohnson  10 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you for sharing! Yes, that is the better way, but sometimes it is tricky to find the end that pulls from the center. So I try to just make it work either way. Enjoy crocheting!!! Blessings!!! ❤️

    I like to make unique dishcloths/washcloths as gifts & I have searched RUclips for them & found a few.
    I find a lot of people who crochet pretty coasters with beautiful edgings of leaves & flowers & I wish they would make them a little bigger so I could make them the size of a dishcloth.

    • @CindyJohnson
      @CindyJohnson  2 года назад +1

      Hi! No worries! I am sure your first dishcloth is great. Sometimes when we are learning to crochet we might accidentally pick up stitches here and there. One thing I recommend is counting your stitches across the rows as you go (just for a few rows) so you can get a good idea of where the next stitches go so you don’t accidentally increase or decrease the number of stitches each row should have. That may help you. If not, let me know and I’ll help you troubleshoot some more. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!!! Blessings to you!!! ❤️

    • @CindyJohnson
      @CindyJohnson  3 года назад +2

      Hi!! Thank you so much! I make wash cloths in the exact same way. I usually start with 39 chain stitches instead of 29 so that the wash cloth is a tad bit bigger, but you can make them whatever size you want. Also, I often will use softer yarn. I have used bamboo in the past and was very pleased. Of course, the cotton yarn is great too if it feels soft enough for you. Thanks again for watching and commenting!!! Thank you for sharing ! I have seen dishcloths made with heavier yarn. What is that ? And what is polyester yarn ? Can it be used for dishcloths ? Next one I make will be with more chain stitches, as my Husband is main dishwasher in our house and he prefers them larger. He's from Texas, what can I say...

    • @CindyJohnson
      @CindyJohnson  3 года назад +1

      I love your comment! Thank you for your kind words!!! Hmmm heavier yarn....I guess just a chunkier yarn was used. I personally use cotton yarn, but I suppose you could use polyester yarn. Dishcloths we purchase from the stores are not always cotton so I don't think it would cause any issues. If you make some, let me know how it goes. And yes, you can chain more stitches on your foundation row and make it any size you want. And then use the triangle folding trick to get it square, if desired. Ok, I finally got the chain stitch right. I seem to be having a bit of a problem with the next step. I got a bit of a “ball”happening at the beginning of the first official crochet line, and then ended up with four loops on my hook, but decided to soldier on. At some point, I seem to have started going backwards, and now my first line has a cowboy boot shape, with a fun little … hive… happening in the corner. Should I persevere, or start again? I’ve invested a lot of time ….
