I love Helena Bonham Carter, but that scene where she is playing Hermione as Bellatrix, she mirrored ever quirk/acting Emma brought to the character. Has always stuck in my head, loved that part, great actress. 👍

I’ll be honest, I love Bellatrix as a character. She’s just really interesting and, I know the movie isn’t completely canon to the books, but Helena Bonham Carter’s performance of her was so good.

I didn't catch the theme of Bellatrix being driven to kill Tonks throughout the seventh book. I always thought Voldemort was being sarcastic when he says that her telling him they are honored to have him in their family home means a lot coming from her. Great video! Thank you!
I can see her really wanting to kill her though. Tonks is the embodiment of Bellatrixs sisters betrayal and causing a blood impurity in her family

I never thought of that I thought he just meant it. another interesting thing to think about is did her intention to kill Tonks rose within her when Voldemort humiliated her at Malfoy Manor or when she went after Tonks in the battle of the department of mysteries, realizing that was Andromeda's daughter

If she hadn’t underestimated Molly, Bella would have undoubtedly defeated her.

Ok, yeah she was a villain and she killed a lot of characters we love... but as a character she is really nice. I like how JKR protrayed her in the books and Helena Bonham Carter portrayed her in the movies. You've gotta admit she is badass although she may not be everyone's favourite

if there's anyone that can master Bellatrix at occlumency and legilimency, it's Severus Snape because he was able to be a double agent for the last half of the first wizarding war, and the entire second wizarding war. he even answered all of her questions with great confidents. but I can't hide the fact that she had doubts about him which is very smart as no other death eater iever doubted him. they may've spread some rumors here and there but they never warned Voldemort or questioned Snape except for her
I just saw it as jealousy. She'd been in azkaban for Voldemort, worked so hard to get where she was, but voldenort never respected her. Whereas Snape only did one task and he already respected him

It's more likely she was simply jealous of Snape's position in Voldemort's confidence - that can happen quite easily with obsessives.

Voldemort showed Bellatrix, rodolfus, robastion, and the now lifeless Barty Crouch Jr. a lot of respect. but he showed Bellatrix a huge amount of respect, respect that he doesn't give to most of his death eaters, respect that only the luckey ones earn from him such as Lucious Malfoy, and Severus Snape, though he got cold feet and killed Snape. but the respect he showed his follower who was madly inlove with him doesn't count with the ones he gave Snape and malfoy. he had a different relationship with her, a one between ally and mentor. he trained her to understand and to imbrase the dark arts, and to use her anger and madness for power and strength. he also said in the graveyard, for a bunch of death eaters to hear: the Lestranges should stand here, but they arre entombed in azkaban, they were faithful, they went to azkaban rather than renounce me, when azkaban is broken open, the Lestranges will be honored beyond their dreams. but he did humiliate her in that death eater meting, and he punnished her severely along with the Malfoys. but the fact that he just screamed when he died told me something I need to know. Voldemort had a lot of respect and honor for Bellatrix, something that she always wanted. so, I think Voldemort gave Bellatrix more respect than Snape, but he would not speak to her in a romantic manner like she did to him. but your point was really good and you are right about what you said

I still consider Severus Snape the greatest death eater and member of the Order of the Phoenix. He did everything he was told from both sides and conned both of the greatest wizards for his own agenda.

I think Bartey Crouch Junior is the greatest death eater and Mad-eye Moody is the greatest order member, even though they were fighting over the defense against the dark arts job :D. Mad-eye is the greatest auror in the wizarding world having captured Igor Karkaroff along with many of Voldemort's supporters and kind of draining Voldemort's campaign during the 1st wizarding war. Bartey Jr. is the most faithful of Voldemort's death eaters even helping lord Voldemort to return him to power, something he'd wanted to do since the rough early age of 19. finally 13 years later, he does it. but he has so many obsticals in his way while trying to get the job done, particularly dementors

If anything, Peter Pettigrew was the best Death Eater. Not only did he gift Voldemort the most important piece of information in the First War, he betrayed Dumbledore and the rest of the Order of the Phoenix right under their noses for months.
I’m sure his animagus status was also quite useful for spying, and it definitely helped him hoodwink the entire Wizarding World and keep his survival a secret for 12 years. Even after that, only the Marauders Map was able to prove his guilt, and that was considered an “illegal” artifact.
Afterwards, he returned Voldemort to life within just one year almost single-handedly, when other Death Eaters had struggled to do so for more than a decade.
If anything, Voldemort was a fool for not prizing Peter enough. He was definitely more useful than others like Lucius Malfoy. And he definitely wasn’t alone with having fear motivate his loyalty.

Bellatrix has been my favourite character since I first saw her appear on Screen during OOTP when I was 8, I remember sitting there and watching her intently throughout the scene, being so captivated by her.
I think seeing Bellatrix’s life finally laid out is so exciting because she is a very important and interesting character in the books
I remember when the Molly v Bella duel happened in theaters. The amount of cheering for Molly filled the theater.
This totally reminds me of one of the main reasons I enjoyed the "Sisters of House Black" fan-film. It definitely highlighted how obsessed Bellatrix was with Voldemort.
Watched the Black Sisters video but this one was way more detailed and really told the full story of Bellatrix.

I know this is random but... THE HARRY POTTER MOVIES ARE CHRISTMAS MOVIES AND YOU CAN'T CHANGE MY MIND! Especially the first two movies. Anyway I do love how they portrayed Bellatrix in the movies and actually prefer it, and that's thanks to Helena doing an amazing job.

Oh my gosh ive been waiting for this! Bellatrix is SUCH an interesting character (also 9 y/o me went as her for Halloween which was high praise lmao), i love her complex dynamic and relationships with her relatives and with voldemort. Helena bonham carter is absolutely amazing as her
i get that voldy made horcruxes as an attempt at immortality but he doesn't appear to have told anyone about them or how to find and use them. if not for kreacher's unexpected survival and a curious dumbledore they may never have been discovered or opened.

Bellatrix had the Hufflepuff Cup in her vault. If she didn't know it was a horcrux, Voldemort definitely made sure she knew how important it was to protect it. You saw how scared she was when Harry/Ron/Hermione had the sword because she thought they might have taken something else. I doubt she was thinking of her galleons.
or maybe if Harry asked Sluckhorn about the diary he'd destroyed in the chamber of secrets, Horus would've recognized it as he told Voldemort about it during his 6th year. and after Sluckhorn had told him about horcruxes, he preceded to making his diary a horcrux
Bellatrix was by far the most loyal Death Eater to ever serve Voldemort. even tho Voldemort fully trusted Snape, she questioned the heck out of him when she & Narcissa visited Spinner's End. Barty Crouch Jr comes miles behind her (but still easily takes 2nd place) in the "most loyal servant" category because he tried to plead innocence to his father during the Ministry trial, while Bellatrix fully admitted to being on Voldemort's side and also proudly claimed that he would return and reward her & the other Death Eaters in Azkaban more than anyone else once he freed them.

The way you informed me of Bellatrix's life regarding the relationship between Voldemort and herself actually made me find her sympathetic even though she is truly evil. I am in two minds about her admiration and devotion to Voldemort: either her admiration of him is purely obsessive and nothing else, or beneath her obsession may contain some genuine love or care. However, even if her "love" is just pure obsession and nothing else, I would still feel sorry for her because she clearly thinks she does love him and he's giving none of it back because he's a truly selfish, rude, abusive, callous, psychopathic monster and when he does show respect, it is clearly pragmatic not genuine. I can honestly compare her to Chloe only that she is far, far worse than Chloe ever was.

I also didn't like that scene in the fifth movie where Harry crucios her down after she kills Sirius. In the book, Bellatrix is downright unapologetically sneering at Harry saying "boy you really have to mean it when you cast the torture curse" like a psychopath.
However, in the film, she's whimpering on the ground like a itty bitty helpless girl.
And her movie "death" into dust was kinda stupid too.
But props to HBC for playing her beautifully.

Had either Tom Riddle or Merope Gaunt Riddle been alive when Bellatrix set her sights on their half-blood son Tom Marvolo Riddle before he became Lord Voldemort, the end results might have been very different.

I love Helena for how she portrayed Bellatrix who in my opinion is the most evil character of the franchise ( even tops Dumbridge and Moldy for me) but i think the book Bella is more terrifying and cruel while movie Bella's psychic antics were more emphasized than her cruel side. I have mixed feelings about how she died, I love how Molly was the one who killed her, she'd always came across a very strong character to me , a fierce mother and witch just like her brothers. Meanwhile iwas hoping it'd be Tonks or Remus or Harry who'll have the pleasure of doing her, for they were the ones who were most affected by Sirius' death and it'd be only right they get to avenge his death.

nope Snape is the most powerful death eater because he can fly just like Voldemort without a broom and he also has many spells that he created including the dangerous one that shows his dark side sectumsempra and the harmless one like Levi corpus. it seems as though the only thing that shows his good side is his love for Lily and what shows his cruel side is his love for dark magic and hatred towards both James Potter and Harry. so he lives a double life.

btw Helena is a family friend... yes, this is true. She is in britain and I live in Canada but my parents are british and they were good school friends. She was a bit older, but they were still close. And we often call. But yesterday she told me about how in the reunion it was so fun to meet her castmates and show the HP movie fans that she is not a monster like that in real life. I asked her if it was hard playing Bella, and she said yes, because it was so out of character. She actually didnt mean to audition at all, she simply said "ahh, id like to watch those" when she heard about it on the news. The producers actually called her when they were putting bellatrix in, I think 5th or 4th movie. she was actually very suprised because she is so kind and caring in real life, that playing a mentally ill woman that has a sexual attraction to a man-snake.
That is so cool! I wish I was family friends with a famous actor!

Voldemort trying to avenge Bella shows that he somehow did like her. He wouldn't go mad for anyone else I think....the cursed looks to make some sense !!!!
I know it said that Voldemort really only shows affection for his snake nagini but at the same time when Bellatrix dies and Voldemort has a very emotional reaction and then like has this magical bomb go off that throws people back. I don't know that seemed pretty genuine. Didn't do that when any of his other death eaters died.
Voldemort did not genuinely care about Bellatrix, he only cared about how useful she was to him. She was his lieutenant, his most loyal and his most powerful death eater. He was angry that she died, but believe me he was not sorry.

As soon as Morgan read the words be quiet Bella all I could hear was Voldemort chastising Bellatrix like a literal child. Bella has a deep romantic obsession with a man. That literally cannot feel love and I don't think she fully comprehends that.

I've always wondered why they never gave Rudolphus and Rabastian human faces when there is fanart that depicts the way they were described in the books. Maybe because they didn't want to get more famous actors (As they had Radcliffe, Grint and Watson as notable actors who'd made a name for themselves during the movies as well as cameos by Tennant and the famed Bonham-carter who became more prominent as the series went into the latter half) or they didn;t want to pay people, IDK, I think they shoulda given Bellatrix's husband and Brother-in-law human physical descriptions, considering they became prominent characters in OotP as part of He-who-shan't-be-named's army

Great video! For me I thought I understood all the players. But seeing them either from the movie or drawn made me definitely realize I had created some characters that just didn’t exist.
