she did amazing, but my favorite adult actress of the saga will always be Maggie Smith, as McGonnagall, ICONIC.
The way she spoke to Hagrid had my blood boiling. He was so excited to show the class threstrals and she was just trying to make him look stupid. I absolutely love the care of magical creatures class so her essentially bullying Hagrid to make foul kids laugh really got under my skin.
Yeah, I was back at that scene in a rereading. I'm not sure if they kept the dementors after the 2nd war, but if they did, then Azkaban is arguably too good for Dolores. Dementors can't exactly torture soulless beings. I think for a small sentence, she should be George's Guinea pig for new joke sweets, plus lifetime in Azkaban, constantly visited by those she hates (half breeds) and written essays with her own blood on a weekly basis, for each student at hogwarts she tortured. She doesn't even deserve an afterlife, now that I think about it, cause Satan would probably ask for her autograph.
Yeah and even if his class was bad, which it wasn’t. His class would of at least of been better then Umbridge’s. Umbridge didn’t teach crap in DADA that year. She spent more time saying that nothing was out there and that Voldemort didn’t return then teach the students. Even Lockheart did a better job.

I'd like to point out the fact that it was clearly stated in the book that Umbridge sent the Dementors to *silence* Harry. She never thought an unqualified wizard could conjure a Patronus Charm. Her plan would have succeeded hadn't if Lupin decided to give Harry anti-Dementor lessons. She was disappointed that he did not get Kissed, but she overall did the job : he "illegally" performed magic outside of school in the presence of a muggle.
She was able to work with it either way

Oh, you have no idea. It'll always will be Umbridge. But honestly, if it was up to me, I would make her punishment FAR more severe than in the books. How? Well, I would make sure she would never access a wand or anything magical or enchanted ever again and put her in a U.S Federal Prison, or better, put her in Arkham Asylum, as well as make up her story that she was both a pedophile and someone who hurts children. That'll sort itself out in due course.
For those who don't know, if you're sent to prison for being a pedophile or rapist, EVERY inmate will want to see you dead.
So yeah, since she wanted power, I would make sure she always had a giant target on her back, as well as every inmate in prison gunning for her.

I think the reason why most hate umbridge more the Voldemort is that we've all had that one teacher or boss. The one who gives extra detention, harshly grades your work. Doesn't show any appreciation for hard work. Writes you up for nothing. Just a general pain to be around.

She does remind me of the awful geometry teacher I had in HS. That woman was so horrible we started a petition to have her fired. It worked, and she only taught that one year at our school. She was mean just for the sake of being mean. I'll be honest. Math isn't my strong suit. I've tried to understand it, but it's like gibberish to me, so she was extra nasty towards me. Failed me for free handing a graph drawing because I didn't trace the original.

I think the main reason Umbridge is the most hated character is that because she's a realistic character. You can't find people like Voldemort or Bellatrix anywhere, but you can find Umbridge everywhere, in school, at work, in a grocery store.
Studying to be a director and a writer, I learned about creating and analyzing villains, the most hated ones are the ones most realistic.
Umbridge doesn't need magic to be a pain in the neck, unlike Voldemort who is basically dependent on magic to maintain his power, even his life.
Umbridge is your everyday annoying neighbor, a teacher you never liked, that lady at the grocery store who feels entitled to do whatever she wants.
Personally, I don't think of her being worse than Voldemort, Umbridge would never kill a baby, despite her actions, but still, she is the most feared, disliked and most realistic villain in the franchise and without her, I don't think the fans would realize her quite realistic power in their every day world.

Umbridge is one of the most evil characters in this entire franchise. Imelda Staunton did such an amazing job with her performance as this character that you wouldn’t be able to tell that she’s actually a nice person. Umbridge is just as evil as Voldemort if not more evil than he is. She might be even more evil that she could give him a run for his money.
I especially like that she have a round face and granny like appearance which people often associate with innocent and kind nature.
Then she turns out to be obsolutely vile, plus the actress did such a good job with the stiff smile and wide 'Im better than you' eyed look
Imelda interviewed that she while she enjoyed the role, she despises the character and assured everyone that she's nothing like her. 😆
