I love how when Hogwarts realized they couldn’t sent anymore letters to Harry, they just sent the biggest, burliest man they had to basically kidnap him.
I actually kinda like how Dudley was throughout this. He started off being an absolute piece of crap to Harry. Beat him up, took his stuff, made fun of him. But eventually he ended up maturing more after a while. he ended up trying to be nicer towards the end, even if he didnt want to admit it openly to Harry, and basically thanked him for his help with the dementors. him asking why Harry wasnt coming with them almost comes off as being concerned about it, since he knew that they were leaving to be protected and he didnt understand why harry wouldnt be coming with them for that. and even though he and Harry didnt talk much or meet up very often IRL, he still ended up being hospitable to him and sending him cards on christmas, even letting his own kids play with Harry's, assumably becoming more open to his magic and the wizarding world. It may have been mostly unseen but he still grew as a person. The Dudley from book one would never have even said "see ya harry"
I would like to see a film of the new generation at Hogwarts - Dudley could have met a friend of Harry's and had a magical child with her, maybe it would make Petunia change and possibly reconcile with Harry.

If you remove James bullying Severus, James was supportive of his friends. He cared about Remus Lupin even after the truth of him being a werewolf came out. Dudley would have never done something like this.
Twice Lily stood up for someone she cared deeply about, trying to make things better for them, and they both threw it directly back in her face: Petunia and Snape. Lily saw how disappointed Petunia was about being rejected from Dumbledore and said she'd change his mind. Petunia called her a freak. Lily defended Snape when he was being mercilessly bullied, and then he called her a mudblood.
@@octonia6782 He was 11 and was spoiled by both of his parents. You can forgive Dudley since he was raised to think Harry's bad, so it wasn't really his fault. Petunia and Vernon, on the other hand, are full-grown adults, and they're responsible for their own actions.
I feel bad for her in the sense where her issues with Lily came from. It was all jealousy and being bitter, as horrible as the qualities are it's understandable. Constantly being in the shadow of your sister who was your parent's favourite, your sister who was treated like golden child and getting invited to Hogwarts while you're just sidelined and have to watch all that happen. It doesn't excuse her treatment of Harry but it's understandable how Petunia became so bitter.
@B PI agree. The good thing about J. K Rowling's characters is that you can't point at one and clearly say good or bad. All of them have a deep personality. Besides Dolores Umbridge. She is bad. Straight thought evil.
I feel bad for Petunia, but I feel even worse for Lily, and I admire that no matter how many times Petunia hurt her, she never stopped loving her, and always wanted to repair their relationship.
You make me fall in love with harry potter series all over again.. It shows all the hard work and love you put into each video. Thank you..Great voice.. keep up the great work
I honestly feel bad for Petunia, although I still hate her for venting her anger to harry. But just imagine if your sibling has magic and you are just a muggle....
I don't feel sorry for her. Her being a muggle is no excuse for her being envious of her sister to the point she hurts Lily emotionally. Like yeah she also wanted to be part of hogwarts, but she didn't and it's still okay. The only thing I can feel sorry about is how they favoured lily over her, but that's it.
I understand Petunia’s sadness and pain of being overshadowed and extremely jealous, but she has to understand that Harry, her nephew, is after all innocent. She is empathised by Potterheads, but she and Vernon should not be forgiven by passing on the anguish as an adult to a new generation. Also, Lily didn’t ask for her special quality of being a witch. It’s just genetically in her blood.
Although people empathised with Petunia for her pain and jealousy doesn't mean that people forgive her abusive actions towards Harry. After all, Harry is the only one that can forgive his aunt and uncle. She cut off her relationship with Lily because she wanted to move on from her sorrow and connection to the world that she once admired, and build a new life away from that. but with the arrival of Harry into her new world that she had built away from the wizarding world, making her efforts shattered and wasted. She has options in her hand when she received harry, either to treat him well or abuse him. it is only a matter of her decision, and she chooses to abuse him. it's a beautiful representation of how a human being is, we know what's good and what's bad, yet the heart decided it.
@@dofinoah Petunia should've been a descent human being instead of taking her anger, jealousy, frustrations, and resent fulness of her sister into her nephew, I understand her pain but her actions cam never be justified or excused in any way, Harry doesn't deserve to be treated like that.

Dumbledore: You did not do as I ask. You have never treated Harry as a son. He has known nothing but neglect and often cruelty at your hands. Vernon: You didn't send child support. Dumbledore:
I can't blame Petunia and Dudley, because: 1. Petunia was just jealous of her sister, and she wanted to be magic as well, but she didn't. @Professor Dumbledore Well, I guess you're correct. I sometimes just wish The Harry Potter Universe had a lot of stuff in it, kinda like star wars. I wonder if there is a character in Harry Potter more powerful than Dumbledore, and I either J.K. Rowling or the Warner Brothers and add more...

When Petunia thanked him and sent him away. She burst into tears. The flower Harry had given her was a Lilly.
I understand Petunia's feelings, but honestly making your sister's kid's life miserable is just a low blow. If I was her, I would have at least cared for Harry and tried to be a decent human being, it would be a nice redemption for her
She does deserve to be understood. Her life was in shadow of her sister and tragically her happiest time in her life may be before Lily went to Hogwarts. She may not be forgiven for her crimes against harry but she should be understood.

Great Ima if anybody, I feel bad for Lilly because of how Petunia had turned her back on her due to her jealousy about not having been born a witch and suppressing Harry's knowledge of the wizarding world
What I've always found weird is that Harry hated Draco more than he hated Dudley. He even thought in the book that "Draco Malfoy made Dudley Dursley look like a kind, sensitive boy." I don't get that, Dudley and Malfoy seemed to treat him similarly, for different reasons tho.
@@reddeath5791 plus Dudley was raised to treat Harry badly due to his magic but backed off whenever Harry pulled out the wand, Draco treated Harry badly purely because he refused Draco's offer of friendship, was petty as hell about it and constantly antagonized him. All because Harry refused his offer
@@jacksixterror spot on. Draco was also more cunning. He told rita skeeter stuff about harry so she could tell sell it in newspapers plus getting Buckbeack an execution sentence
@RedDeath5 Dracos family is also notorious and has connections in the Wizarding world. Which Harry barely knows exist. Draco also has a squad of goons even more physically intimidating.
Dudley wont kill anyone though, Malfoy would. He even tried to use Unforgivable Curse on Harry one time. And he seems SO HAPPY the huge snake came out and basically threaten the lives of the muggle borns wizards. I reckon Dudley would be terrified of either situations and ran away. He is naughty, not cruel. If he is he would already tried to kill Harry years ago.
I think deep down Petunia truly loved Harry. Especially, after reading that letter from Dumbledore. Think about it. 10 years Harry was protected under his mother's love which lived on through Petunia. She may never admit but she MUST have loved him.
I underatand that the dursleys neglected harry, but dudleys character arc is honestly one of the saddest. Saying goodbye to one of the people he knew since he was a child. Even though he was a bully, he was a kind soul (example: Tea)
@@gabrielmunoz9584 Nope. Here's the excerpt from the book: "Mrs. Dursley was thin and blonde and had nearly twice the usual amount of neck, which came in very useful as she spent so much of her time craning over garden fences, spying on the neighbors."
The thing is, you really can understand Petunia's pain. The rage built up of her parents acknowledging how gifted Lily was making her so jealous. She must have never felt like was good enough, at least until she met Vernon. It hurts even more knowing that Lily only wanted what was best for her sister.
I always felt bad for her it must suck knowing that your sister is special but you don’t have the same powers as her and it didn’t seem like her parents even tried to comfort her I would’ve been the same if that happened to me

Dudley: Can You Pass The Bacon? Harry: You Forgot The Magic Word Me: ACCIO BACON! Edit: What will happen next? Find out on the next episode of My Hero Academia! Spoiler: i got expelled from hogwarts for performing magic in front of a muggle
Petunia's story was unexpectededly touching. The older sister, envious of her younger sister's inate powers, forcing herself to live a life of absolute normality in order to set herself apart from her "freak" sister, burying her love, mourning and loss deep inside her and never being able to accept her nephew, as it would force her to admit that she truly missed her witch sister and once longed to be part of that world. None of the Dursley's were evil. Dudley was ultimately the victim of being spoiled from the day he was born. Petunia couldn't accept Harry, as he reminded her of her dead younger sister and her guilt. And Vernon, while being a generally not very likable person, did truly love his family.
I mean vernon is arguably the worst Dursley. Because at least Dudley redeemed himself and Petunia's attitude was at least understandable (not necessarily justifiable) towards Harry and feels a bit of a connection towards the end, but Vernon didn’t even do anything.
And you actually understand Petunia’s feelings. She was jealous of her sister, resentful towards her for being left behind, and then ashamed of cutting her out, and then when she died and Petunia couldn’t right her wrongs she had to either admit she was a bad person or continue digging in her heels. Vernon was just prejudice and probably had the same limited world views about everything.
I like the fan theory that the horcrux inside Harry was negatively affecting the Dursleys making them far worse people than they would have been otherwise much like how the evil in the One Ring had a negative effect on Frodo during the LOTR.
I was just wondering the other day why Hogwarts couldn't let squibs and muggle siblings of muggleborns take classes that didn't revolve around "foolish wand waving and silly incantations" like potions, arithmancy, history of magic, ancient runes, astronomy, care of magical creatues, herbology, and so forth and let them sit in on more magically oriented classes just to learn more about it. I like to think that, after Voldy's defeat and the ousting of pureblood jerks from the school governors, they start doing this.
do u know why he has that title: Because he was the only wizard ever to survive a killing curse to the face not because he was never was in the hands of death

Imagine how crushing it would be to witness all of the cool sh*! your sibling could do, find out that there's a school that teaches magic, wanting to go there so badly that you literarly write a message to the school's headmaster, only to be told that you're not special enough to go, but your sibling is. That really had to hurt.

(In alternate reality where Draco became Harry’s friend) Draco: *meets the Dursley’s* Oh father~! Can you get aunt Bellatrix to do something real quick? Oh and can Harry stay with us forever?
FACT: Did you know that Jk Rowling originally wanted one of Dudley's kid to be a wizard? But then she changed her mind due to Vernon and Petunia's strong issue with magic and the wizarding world.
@Angryhedgehog I feel like that would have made the ending vibe a bit cheesy, although great idea for a future book. It adds something a little branched out from the main plot after all the wizarding world went through in the deathly hallows : 3
You left out the part about Dumbledore called the Dursleys out for their “appalling” abuse in raising Dudley, a statement that they could not understand.
This video was very meaningful because it shows why they were not only mean to Harry but what was truly inside them and how Petunia changed from hating her sister to loving her sister again.

Are you drunk 😂
I would like to see a film of the new generation at Hogwarts - Dudley could have met a friend of Harry's and had a magical child with her, maybe it would make Petunia change and possibly reconcile with Harry.

It doesn't excuse her treatment of Harry but it's understandable how Petunia became so bitter.

I've never clicked on a video so fast. Out of all the channels that talk about Harry Potter lore, yours is by far the best.

I cried when She returned the blanket to Harry as a tribute for her little sister.
Another reason to hate the cursed child
I’m still impressed Harry actually made it to ten.
Samme, he went through some awful shit with the fucks

That's true but ... dark
True shit there
The Dursley’s are some fuckin shitheads
Harry Potter is "the boy who lived" but he almost died every year.
**almost**
Emphasis on almost
do u know why he has that title:
Because he was the only wizard ever to survive a killing curse to the face not because he was never was in the hands of death
@@DrMonir-hd3ez well ye obv
But he LIVED.
Me: I'll never relate to any of the Dursleys.
*watches this video and learns Petunia wanted to be a part of the Wizarding World but couldn't be*
Me: Nevermind.
I am still waiting for my Hogwarts letter
I am 10 I'll get at 11
I have to wait two years before getting my letter
I love the scene where Dudley's wearing his new school uniform with such pride. I know he's a antagonist but that part always made me laugh.
One like less abuse of Dudley throwing his tortoise out the window
That poor tortoise
#tortoiseslivesmatter
I worried so much about that tortoise
Poor little guy
SSAVE THE TURTLES SKSKSKSKSK
It’s kinda Sus how Dudley’s friends all call him “Big D” haha

I never want to the hear the word “deliciously” be used to describe Uncle Vernon ever again.
Agreed
I must agree an unpresidented amount
yes.

To Petunia, he was.
All because Petunia couldn't perform magic and her younger sister Lily could.
Everybody is different. Some have talents others don’t. Life isn’t Fair. Accepting that is part of being an adult.
I have watched all of the ‘life of Harry Potter characters’ and his voice makes me feel so much better inside. Idk these videos just make my day so much better. He needs to start making podcasts so I can start listening to these at school.
I'm glad there's a channel that still cares about Harry Potter
MavsterMD YEAAAA
Me too!
There's a couple of great Harry Potter channels on RUclips. MovieFlame is in my personal top 5, but he's not my #1 because some of his HP videos focus too much on the movies for my taste. But the quality of his videos is absolutely topnotch!
Harry potter will never die
I'll never understand why they cut that scene. They could have fit it in. It makes me tear up every time.
@Lamps are Sick OP means the deleted scene from the movie.
What scene
Which scene
To cut down on movie time
I'm really glad that Mrs Weasley accepted Harry into a true loving family. Otherwise things may have been even worse than they already was
(In alternate reality where Draco became Harry’s friend)
Draco: *meets the Dursley’s* Oh father~! Can you get aunt Bellatrix to do something real quick? Oh and can Harry stay with us forever?
Not. The. Tilda. (~ that thing)

yes. yes he has
That blanket part got me in tears.

Honestly the best part of _The Cursed Child._
B B I was about to cry but I hidden my emotions
I feel like Dudley had such good character development. It’s so sweet of him to give Harry a cup of tea 🥹
FACT: Did you know that Jk Rowling originally wanted one of Dudley's kid to be a wizard? But then she changed her mind due to Vernon and Petunia's strong issue with magic and the wizarding world.
dudleys daughter daisy is a wixard
Cool
Peyton James Neither of Dudley’s children are magical. Daisy Dursley’s story is a fanfiction.
@Angryhedgehog I feel like that would have made the ending vibe a bit cheesy, although great idea for a future book. It adds something a little branched out from the main plot after all the wizarding world went through in the deathly hallows : 3
Angryhedgehog nope! it's a dominant gene.
Wait.... Petunia stalked Snape and Lily?
....... That's normal.
Yea, with her *ridiculously long neck*

Hey I always eavesdroped on people when I was a child
If you read the book it would make more sense.
