Hello, interestingly, Horace Slughorn psychological portrait matches the so-called "inverted narcissist" type (or "narcissist by proxy"). Those people tend to stay on the back line and avoid competition, but enjoy the company of people they deem important or powerful. Furthermore, they tend to actively seek close relationships with grandiose narcissists (Voldemort has obvious traits of narcissism, along with antisocial psychopathy).
The way I see it, it's kinda like someone who thinks little of themselves, doesn't think they can be as great as others, so tries to egg others on when they see potential. Tell me more about your conclusion.
It's because he uses them as a crutch. He is a professor and aligns himself with the students who do the best, and the students, wanting to get the best grades and recognition possible, are more than happy to oblige to joining his Club. Slughorn was a good man on the surface, but deep down, the man had his demons. Look at what it took to get the Tom Riddle memory out of him, even with everything that was going on around them at the time, when that really had nothing to do with his own more in-depth personal life, he just felt so ashamed of himself, possibly blaming himself for Voldemort even existing. The man is holding on to some really deep and dark pain.

Slughorn was offered many times to allign himself with the Death Eaters in the first war and always seemed to slip from their grasp with avoidance or very polite excuses. Yet he was never seriously persued for his avoidance, which Dumbledore briefly mentioned in the books. After reading the books and watching the movie I really got the feeling that Slughorn actually truly liked and cared for Tom Riddle. I like that Malfoy's initial warning to Harry (pertaining to the Weasleys), about the "wrong sort" of Wizarding family, is legit _only_ because they're pov (and hold no antipathy to muggles, too). They're part of the 28, Dracling!
I really like his character. He has flaws like being snobbish and wanting to collect students but he isnt evil and when the time came he stood up to help fight Voldemort. Also he is currently the only slytherin I have heard who isnt bad. I guess snape was that too but he joined the order after he thought lily was in danger
Wow this was a great video! Of course I knew big chunks of the info from the movies & books, but you put it together in such a way that it really gave insight into the character. I didn't realize how brave he really was.

movieflame made it brighter
Salma Mohamed its a joke
Jim Broadbents acting in the Half Blood prince was excellent. The final memory scene, when you consider everything, was amazing.
Can you do Life of Oliver Wood?
I would love this
Is there really enough information for that?
Oliver was only in the first book, and there was barely anything about him...
@@nathanbodak922 first 3 books at im not 100% sure but JK Rowling Might have released more information about him and his backstory. Also he was there for battle of hogwarts too
Nathan Bodak he was in the 2nd book as well
this literally made my birthday much better! 💞
The one thing I like listening to you is that you get straight to the point unlike other tubers for example....hi my name is Mike and this is the blah blah blah then music, background screen dancing moving and then a long intro before actually coming to the point
"This is in no way based on the films, the films are not canon." It's sad really, that this needs to be explicitly stated.
Colaman112 it really is. People keep telling me my facts are wrong basing the story on the movies and not the books. I was tired of it so that’s going to be in the beginning of every video now...sad it has to be that way
the movies are their own seperate continuity.
I’m of the belief that even though the books are objectively better the movies do a lot of stuff better than the books and I personally think that the true canon should be a mix of the best parts of both the books and the movies
Technically, the movies are canon. Although the movies leave things out, they’re still part of the HP canon
1:01 omg I see the resemblance😂😂
your videos like this one always ends with me in tears.
Watching your Harry Potter videos makes me feel like I am reading it again. Thank you very much!
He might have gave Voldemort info to be immortal, but he also gave Harry the crucial info on how to defeat him.
I absolutely love watching your videos every week! Thank you so much posting them!
P.S. the Harry Potter and Avatar the Last Airbender ones are the best!
Next can you do the life of quirrel or flitwick please
Or Bellatrix
Jameson McCamy he has done Bellatrix
This is my favourite 'life of' video, I never read the books but for some reason I really liked slughorn in the movies, and watching this makes me like him even more
Please do the life of Shacklebolt Love your Videos!
He has now!!
Thank you movieflame for the new video 😁
Horace is proof that Slytherins arent automatically bad
I'm not a Slytherin I'm a Gryffindor but I'll always defend the Slytherins
Same
As a syltherclaw, I agree
I’m a gryffinclaw and I agree (I’m more a Gryffindor than Ravenclaw)
Slytherin here, i feel bad when making evil choices in video games :P
im a slytherin
can you do life of Bellatrix Lestrange love your vids
They already did it “The life of the black sisters”
and she got her own episode
Yeah he had
you mean she had
ya he already did
I love the constant theme of "I hate the movies"!! Favourite channel!
I like that Malfoy's initial warning to Harry (pertaining to the Weasleys), about the "wrong sort" of Wizarding family, is legit _only_ because they're pov (and hold no antipathy to muggles, too). They're part of the 28, Dracling!
You should do the life of Steve Rogers(Captain America)
Movie Flame: The films are not cannon
Movie Flame: Start video with classic Harry Potter film music
What he posed to do there’s no theme music in the books
Snape and Slughorn make me feel like I’m in the ocean...Salty water....Just like my tears when I hear their story
Thank you for doing this because about 2 weeks ago I was looking through your channel to see if you actually did one on him
He’s my fav simply because of the way he is acted out. He is a wonderful actor man. Truly wonderful
I really like his character. He has flaws like being snobbish and wanting to collect students but he isnt evil and when the time came he stood up to help fight Voldemort. Also he is currently the only slytherin I have heard who isnt bad. I guess snape was that too but he joined the order after he thought lily was in danger
Could you do a video about wands/ wandmaker? And i don’t mean the rank of their power but for example what they are made of... love ur vids :))
One of the bottom comments, great idea!
Wands are made of wood, silly.
Jayson Thompson yeah in real life but in the wizardig world they can be made with unicorn hairs and suff
@@charlieoldham1066 lol I.... ha..In real life.... hahaha... I don't even know what to say to this.... jebus.
Jayson Thompson i meant fake wands Xd
Aww, the feels I got at the end
Honestly, who else would be over joyed if he downloaded the sound to spotify??? I love these so much
Wow this was a great video! Of course I knew big chunks of the info from the movies & books, but you put it together in such a way that it really gave insight into the character. I didn't realize how brave he really was.
i thought there wouldnt be any onion chopping but right at the end there was, Great video as always!
