Sawyer is an excellent judge. Every comment is a backhanded compliment so harsh I could see the bruises on Sean and Andrew's egos.
I thought the sameeee thing 🤣🤣
Gordon Ramsey would approve
Yeah, he's like a lawyer, making a case for whatever side.
Alternate title : Two man make two different dishes disguised as calzones.
why did I just read your comment in the voice of Jeremy Clarkson? :D
Two bald bearded men*
Andy made a beef wellington without puff pastry
What an excellent Beef Wellington vs. Italian Beef competition! Someone accidentally put "calzone" in the title, though.
xd
It's so true though
Interesting that the competition was a calzone competition, and neither contestant made a calzone, and then they were judged by which dish was the most christmassy, not on which dish was the best calzone (or perhaps, least not-calzone).
Andrew did a reverse-reverse-sear, also known as just a regular sear.
re-botched by babish incoming
@@alex786 I was gonna say....isn't a reverse-sear when you bake it first and sear it last, lol
bro i thought i was tripping like theres no way ive been doing a reverse sear wrong all this time i LEARNED from babish
@@seadffsa same, I almost had a breakdown questioning my life
same thing, I really did question life itself...
I love how Andrew has more romantic chemistry with Brad than Jess in this show
Bromance > romance
@@zaxyart how about 🏳️🌈BOTH!🏳️🌈
i can
@@fleetingselfconfidence612 nah man bromance is way deeper than romance
Brad has more romantic chemistry with most people.
Kinda like…a golden retriever?
"I'm going to reverse-sear this" proceeds to not reverse sear. Much love babby
I’m not going to comment
Inverted reverse upside down double-secret sear
Backwards sear
Very first thing I thought
Forward-sear
Beef Wellington calzone? Huh?
I feel like Babish has decided to wage a one man war against Italian sensibilities.
@@DingDingTheRUclipsBuddy I have found that there are more non-Italians uptight about Italian food than actual Italians.
Lol it all started with the carbonara
@@TheForeverRanger That's not true.
@@TheForeverRanger never been to Italy huh? They have literally hundreds of separate cooking clubs dedicated to preserving the “cultural purity” of single dishes. It’s ludicrous.
@@TheForeverRanger You dont know enough Italians. Even the French dont get up in arms about their food as Italians. Then again, the French are famous for surrendering 🤔
Can't wait for part 3 as this one was obviously botched with Mark not coming.
Really setting up the rubber match beautifully.
babish should just make a mistake every year
Mark absolutely would have picked the Italian beef
We're gonna need a botched the botched by babish.
Neither of these is anywhere close to an actual Calzone.
Babish literally made a beef wellington with a different dough and Sean closed a sandwich. That's it.
But you see, Sean actually did something cool with the medium, Babish just changed the dough that went on a beef wellington
Sean's is a calzone I'd say
"So I'm gonna make a bunch of mini calzones, but use pasta dough, and fill them with ricotta, and maybe some marinara, to make ravioli calzone!"
Sean: I’m going to make something creative that represents my hometown
Babi: I’m going to make a beef wellington with pizza dough instead of puff pastry
Sounds pretty NYC to me
That said I’m from Philly, so maybe a slight bias
Yeah like what are you even supposed to do to compete? Next year is Sean gonna lose to a shucked lobster in a puff pastry?
Beef Wellington hot pocket, meal on the go sounds like an amazing idea.
Most expensive hot pocket ever. And it takes a bit longer than a minute and a half in the microwave.
omfg, if I found a beef wellington hot pocket I would HAVE to eat it! Just sayin
Beef Wellington Stuffed Croissant
As much as I would’ve hated Sean’s calzone because it would’ve been a soggy mess after 2 minutes… albeit the first 2 minutes must’ve been glorious….I don’t think Babish’s “calzone” is really a calzone since it doesn’t have a sauce nor cheese! Sean should’ve won by default.
he made a beef wellington calzone AKA a beef wellington. Agreed Sean should have won by default
Gotta love the sog though.
Yeah the fact that Andrew didn’t put any cheese in it feels like it almost should disqualify it.
With how far the definitions were stretched, (They pass the windowpane test.), I think you could just as easily say they both made (giant) empanadas...
@@robertmonroe1883 it varies depending on what part of the world one is i guess (where i live there is generally sauce on the inside) and if you get really really traditional there is no sauce at all (not even some marinara to dip in or top it with) with you just getting some tomato slices inside at best
I gotta ask that next year, there is a price limit on the ingredients for each calzone. That man just spent his christmas bonus oh a high end cut of beef vs Sean's deli meat calzone. I gotta award Sean bonus points on speed and price here.
Italian beef calzone: "wouldn't I rather just have the sandwich?"
Beef wellington calzone: "wouldn't I rather just have the beef wellington?"
😂😂😂
There was only one winner. The dude who ate both calzones.
AND YES CALZONE-OFF 2020 HYPE.
The emotion Sawyer experienced on the first bite of Sean's calzone tells me everything I need to know. Sawyer is my new favorite.
Incredible episode. The GBBS editing was the chef’s kiss.
GBBS, you mean GBBO?
The way they have it edited it makes it look like they took the same amount of time to make their calzones and I choose to believe that Sean just took a very long time to put beef, giardiniera, and cheese inside pizza dough
I love beef wellington, it's super tasty, but the idea of an italian beef calzone sounds amazing. Especially if you had a big tub of gravy, (not poured on), to submerge each bite into before eating would be heavenly. Would also fit with the theme of the calzone since you usually get a side of marinara to dip into.
I greatly appreciate the attempt at the GBBS-style drawings. I laughed.
I assumed there must be a New Zealand meets... Dutch? version given the voice over.
Just missing the labels of the ingredients.
Second time I’ve seen GBBS and I was confused so I googled it, for some reason it’s call the Great British Baking Show in America, not the Great British Bake Off
@@ApolloHeliosPhoebus 😂 who is that doing the voice over
I love how the voice over goes from generic English to generic Australian/Cockney hybrid, in trying to match both voices on the GBBO (Noel and Matt).
Between this and the pinneaple pizza showdown I'm sensing a pattern that Babish tends to just not make what's assigned to him but sticks the landing anyway, which is very on brand
Props to Sawyer for finishing everything and making them watch, but I kind of wish he left at least a few bites for Andrew and Sean to try each other’s masterpiece. Loved the Great British Bake-Off vibes!
This is a great idea to make this a tradition.
It's now the new Jay Thomas trying to knock the meatball off of Letterman's tree with a football.
This popped up right after I finished binging episodes of Hot Ones. The timing is perfect.
Sean just looks so calm, and positive, and Andy looks like he's going to lose his mind at any second. Love it, zero notes.
When babish said “calzone beef Wellington” Gordon Ramsey felt a disturbance in the force.
i love that you asked if he was okay as he was finishing both dishes, that man has never been better.
And on this night Babish was visited by the three spirits of Traditional Italian Cooking.
This editing style was too funny, I was waiting for Paul or Prue to come out at the end of the episode lol
😆
My burning question is whether he really ate the whole beef wellington calzone. I would be impressed!
I'd imagine they all shared the Beef Wellington calzone after the filming.
He ate the whole Beef Wellington *piece on his plate,* is what he meant during the show.
BCU concoctions are typically shared by the crew + others after the cameras cut.
clean plate club
thanks for making this Botched With Babish episode shorter and to the point! it still retained the process and humour fine, in the smaller and cuter package :)
Absolutely looking forward to this being a tradition 😂 love them both! And Sawyer!
it been a year now, how’s the calzones this year
Andrew! your content just gets better and better! This was a simply brilliant episode!
I enjoy that shot of Sawyer being a laptop gremlin when Brad turns around.
Ever since the scotch eggs one a botched episode notification makes me drop everything I'm going a get on that download button!
YES MAKE THIS A YEARLY TRADITION
This is Amazing. New tradition, love it!
Love spotting Buffalove sprinkled throughout videos. Go Bills!
Can we just take a moment and appreciate this time in history where a man can take his passion for cooking and build his own cooking network around it? Honestly, the work you’ve done here on this channel is truly inspiring Babish. From the days where it was just you in you tiny kitchen to now… it goes to show that if you have a passion for something and a drive to make it a reality, you can do amazing things.
Also a beautiful beard with a super relaxing narration voice
Big props to the narrator laying down a halfway decent Noel Fielding on quaaludes and an infinitely funnier and more tolerable Matt Lucas.
Aww the establishing of traditions and hugging it out at the end. This is what the holidays are about!
Sawyer is going to sabotage the Italian chef's transportation next year, he looks like he had the best lunch of his life.
Yes make it an annual thing! Mark isn’t invited to judge tho 😂
Please make Butterscotch Pie from Undertale! 😭
Amazing. Absolutely amazing.
i love this serie it's just so much fun
wait wait wait ... you're telling me Sean is taller than Babish? I don't know why but I assumed he was like 5'2 or something
Right? It might be because of the camera angles and the fact that he's always sitting by himself in the videos I watch, but I definitely thought he was much smaller than he really is.
Bald men seem shorter.
@@sirskorge Tell that to The Rock.
I'm pretty sure Babish is not that tall himself
I fraking
Love your kitchen, very aesthetic ❤️
I absolutely love the idea of them doing this each year!
Hey this Sean guy seems pretty cool he should start up a RUclips channel.
Spicy take.
Why are you shaking the bottle?
It's almost time for round 3
We need more episodes like this I loved it!!!!!!!!!
Sean! 🙌Love this battle, Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
Can't wait to see the feud again next year!
These both look amazing. I think Sean's would appeal more to me out of the two, but I think I would just do like Sawyer and entirely consume both in one sitting while making everyone else watch. I have a few calzone ideas of my own, but I will save them for the next time I am invited into the calzone zone.
Loved this
Gotta love the botched music at the end. Really tied everything together haha
Nice
What I really love about this is that now we can expect to see increasingly ridiculous calzones every year.
Very wholesome content. Enjoyed it very much.
Love the editing !
Babish: “Beef Wellington Calzone.”
Me: Filet, pâté, wrapped in pastry? Isn’t it already a calzone by definition?
That Noel Fielding impression is on point
Redemption at last for Andrew! So happy for both of them and I will probably try and do the Italian beef calzone some time soon for the fam. Can't wait.
Love the little skits you add in to keep it entertaining
Can you do a gingerbread house contest? Like from Bob's Burgers.
Schminjerbread from Chowder?
Sean deserved the win
Checking in from Oct 2022 - I'm stoked to see if they keep it up!
Watching this during finals week made that final hug very cathartic.
I feel like the wellington just doesn't qualify as a calzone, regardless of the dough used as wrapping. Also covering a calzone in sauce means you can't pick it up and eat it by hand. Both looked tasty though. Ideas for next time, a lasagne calzone vs some kind of seafood version.
It's that time again.
LOVED IT
Love this show
Is it just me, or is mark iacono one of the most delightful people ever
Edit: he's not gonna be on this one, but my sentiments still hold true
I feel like if I was presented with a beef wellington calzone I would expect a calzone cooked with the essence of a beef wellington, not just one stuffed inside pizza crust.
Then again everything about this feels like the result of a fever dream pitch meeting at 3AM so maybe I'm just being a spoilsport.
Brad being the best part of this series is slowly but surely becoming a favourite running gag of mine
I think I've put my finger on why it's so; he reminds me of Hamish Blake's long lost American cousin
Yes I'm so happy for u Babish 💓
Andrew: "I'm going to reverse sear this"
Andrew: Does regular sear.
Still at the beginning of the vid but I give my vote to Sean. Hardly any difference at all between beef wellington and the calzone version
I get the feeling he was gonna make Beef Wellington for some friends as a meal and he pivoted to the calzone idea as a way to bring back Sean. Maybe. I do think they shared the wellington calzone after the filming at least.
Heartwarming hug
Loved the botched series
This needs to be redone! How are either of those calzones?! Clearly what constitutes a calzone was not discussed beforehand.
There's one competition I'd like to see Babish do... Masterchef!
Need more of this naration !!!
Love this! Please make this a tradition
The judge gave the win to the man who signs his paychecks? Shocker.
Great episode through and through! Botched is definitely my favorite series in the BCU.
I'd love to see you make Cyborg's Sphagetti with triple meat sauce from Teen Titans episode, "Titans East Part 2"
This pairing is GOLD.
this was uploaded on my birthday
what a great gift
I still think Sean won. When I think calzone, I think about the fillings. Andy's just seemed more like a twice wrapped Wellington
You should make Grandma Spankenheimer's Fruitcake from, "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer", movie when it's Christmas
A fun episode! I have to say I'm more intrigued by Sean's Italian beef calzone concept, but I'd eat either version with gusto.
The narration is perfection
My man just made a beef Wellington and wrapped it in pizza dough 😂
i miss botched
Loved the voiceover 🙂
Love Sean, pls have him on as much as possible
