  • Want to impress your friends with this fancy looking knitting pattern? Try this one. It looks integrate and super fancy yet it is very, very easy to knit. I promise if you follow along my tutorial, this will be easy peasy :)
    ▶️ Here is the Scalloped Ripple Stitch Knitting Pattern:
    Cast-on in multiple of 18 stitches + 2 edge stitches
    • Row 1: K1 (edge), *(K2tog) 3 times, (K1, YO) 6 times, (K2tog) 3 times*, K1 (edge)
    • Row 2: Purl all stitches
    • Row 3: K1 (edge), *(K2tog) 3 times, (K1, YO) 6 times, (K2tog) 3 times*, K1 (edge)
    • Row 4: Purl all stitches
    • Row 5: Knit all stitches
    • Row 6: Knit all stitches
    • Row 7: Purl all stitches
    • Row 8: Knit all stitches
    The scallop pattern is a lace knitting stitch that creates a fabric with stacked columns of shell motifs. This pattern, like the Old Shale or Feather and Fan stitches, does not have the same ripple effect as those other stitches. The end result is a lovely lace fabric suitable for scarves, blankets, hats, and more!

      Hello! You don’t have to knit a rib first but I feel it’s like a set up row and makes the following row easier.

    Is this like feather and fan? I tried to knit that pattern but my work grew in width, adding more stitches. Dont know why. Will that happen with ripple pattern? Soooo frustrating!!! Thanx

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  3 месяца назад

      Very similar to feather stitch. Now most people do K2tog only once. But if you look at the pattern on the description, you k2tog three times and you do that twice.
      You decrease 3 and then on trade 6 with 6 Yarn Overs and then decrease 3 again. So it even itself out when all is done right. I hope you try it again!

    Haha, your not on your own. I too got it wrong! But I played the video again and again, and it finally sunk in. It's k2tog X3 . Ki yo,X6. K2TOG X3. . Then k2tog X3 again, and so on. So you actually do k2tog 6 times. _ k1yo X6. Hope that helps.

    Hi beautiful pattern and nearly finished knitting my 1st scarf.
    Not sure how to cast off to keep both ends of the scarf in pattern. Didn't do a set up row, started on row 1
    Can youor any lovely experienced knitters out there help with this? Thank you so much! ❤

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  Год назад +1

      Congratulations on finishing your first scarf! Amazing. Search for “stretchy Bind off” youtube video. There are lots of tutorials out there. For this pattern, I do a stretchy bind off. Basically you knit 2 stitches, then you knit those 2 stitches together and therefore descreasing by 1. Then you knit another stitch - now you have 2 stitches on the right needle. Now you knit the 2 stitches on the right needle and descreasing by 1. And so on. If you watch a tutorial, it will make more sense. Have fun!

    Lovely pattern. Do I see you knitting through the back loop?

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  Год назад

      No, it is not knitting through the back loop. It is just the way the stitch looks/how the stitch lays. Most people purl a bit different than I do and then the stitch on the other side lays opposite. The way I purl, the stitch on the other side looks like it is leaning back.

    So to finish, you cast off after the 8 row repeat? I think it would be helpful if the tutorial showed the knitting of the first rows of your scarf and the last row.

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  10 месяцев назад

      Yes, I always cast off after a pattern repeat to keep it nice and neat. Thank you for suggesting to include cast on and cast off. I always thought it would be too boring for the audience to include that. So, thanks.

    So beautiful you are an expert, can you please tell me how many sts would I need for a baby blanket in 4 ply wool in this pattern thanks

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  Год назад

      That is hard to answer as it depends so much on the texture of your yarn. Look on your yarn label - look at the gauge and see how many stitches you need to get to 10 cm (or whatever measurement they use in the gauge guidelines) - then multiple the number of stitches based on how big you want the baby blanket to be! Have fun!

    How many stitches should a person be ending up with at the end of the each row? I can not seem to get this, I keep ending up with more stitches then I should

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  2 года назад

      Hello Crystal. For this pattern, you cast on in multiple of 18 stitches plus 2 stitches. So, whatever you cast on is whatever stitches you should always have. My guess is there is an issue with knitting your Yarn Overs on the Wrong Side. Try it again and pay attention to the YO on the WS. Good luck.

    Thanks for sharing this amazingly beautiful stitch. It looks so gorgeous. One question. Would it be possible to use this sitch in a triangle shawl? Thanks for sharing your talent.

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  Год назад

      I think this would be beautiful as a triangle shawl. But since the repeat is 18 stitches, you really have to plan out the increase on both sides to make sure you keep the pattern the same. I have to try it someday. Hope you will too!

    • @jandramardges3368
      @jandramardges3368 Год назад

      Great question! I made many “shell” triangle shawls simply by starting at the bottom with one shell and an edge stitch, then increased 19, which was the number of stitches in the shell, at both the beginning and end of the first row of the next shell. I would try casting on 20 stitches, and after row eight, cast on 18 stitches, knit across, and add in another 18 stitches and turn. It’s worth a try!!!!!

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  2 года назад

      Hi Gianny. Thanks for watching. this would be wonderful as a blanket. Answers to your question depends on how thick your yarn is and what size needles you are using. In this video, I am using a US6 needle.

    Hi great video! How would you cast off this pattern to preserve the ripple at the top whilst having a straight edge which I could seam with another identical piece? Thanks!

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  3 года назад

      That’s a great question. In this case I would suggest the traditional cast off method as that gives you a “right” bind off and makes it easier to seam to another piece. However, don’t keep the tension to right during cast off so you preserve the nice “flow” of the pattern. Hope that makes sense to you. 😘😘

    Just curious, do you identify your knitting method as Combination?

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  3 года назад +1

      Hi sweetie. Thanks for the comment. You mean combination between Continental and English technique? 😘

    • @clairemottinger6407
      @clairemottinger6407 3 года назад +1

      @@TastyLittleDumpling No, more the way you combine Eastern purls with Western knits. Most use Continental style, but it can be done English as well. 🙃

    • @TastyLittleDumpling
      @TastyLittleDumpling  3 года назад +1

      @@clairemottinger6407 Hi Claire!! You so right. You must be an experienced knitter. In this video, my purl stitch on the other side results in a purl stitch as if you would use English style. The stitch “leans forward” on the other side. If I would use the traditional English stitch for my purls in this pattern, it results in the stitch leaning “backwards” on the other side. So when I k2tog, the stitch would look slightly different.
      Difficult to explain but try it both ways and you will see what I mean. 🤣😘. Thanks for your comment. Happy Friday, Claire ❤️
