Man Hats off to your dad my dad and i built a ton of furture cabnits he's long gone but this video brings back cool memories brother love your dad hes got to be a cool one thank you for shairing i love this is what my dad would of done for me
I love the DIY spirit, and it's the best way to get something unique, that is exactly what you want / need. Sounds like your dad is pretty cool too. Thanks for making this video.
I'm one of those weirdos that has been ogling the amp shelving units in many a creators' videos. This video is awesome inspiration to get building instead of looking over & over to buy something.
This was really great! Thanks so much for sharing your build process, it gave me a lot of ideas for something similar I’m working on. Really beautiful piece you and your dad built!
Looks like your dad takes pride in his work seeing the craftsmanship in the shelf. Leaving the natural edge on a board or slab is called a live edge. Been wanting to do something like this for my setup but lumber prices are still high in my area. Nice shelf!
Good to have the Space. Lets the Amp-Tube's get fresh air and not overheat ( if sealed in ). They look fantastic. I am looking for something like this ( only Adjustable ).
$1200.00 sounds like a lot of scratch, but considering the quality of that SWEET old wood and the sturdiness of the hardware you used, you couldn’t find a mass produced set of shelves anywhere near that price. And it wouldn’t look anywhere near as classy. Plus, believe me, time spent with your father making that is absolutely priceless. That’ll be in the “Fluff family” for generations.
Yeah, nice shelf I enjoyed your story and I was listening to you but.. I just kept staring at the Soldano behind you thinking how badly I would love to have that. Love the collection of amps you have. Thanks for posting.
There’s a product called Maker Pipe that makes all sorts of connector fittings for 3/4 EMT conduit which is very inexpensive. Fittings aren’t super cheap but affordable. Tight fittings with Allen style bolts. This is how I built my amp shelf.
I use industrial shelves (designed for garages, can hold 1200 lbs), lots of metal on them, cause I couldn’t find anything better - def prefer the vibe of yours better, but, seemed like the easiest solution at the time. Thanks for making the video as I too have been curious about this!
I don't need a shelf for my two amp heads (1965 Fender Bassman and Peavey Transtube Supreme), but this shelf is great, I would love to build a computer workstation desk with the same theme.
Good looking shelves there Fluff! For cheap project wood, I look for solid wood furniture at mission stores. Buy and bust it up. I may make something in mid century modern just to annoy my wife.
Thanks for the video! I've been using a wire shelf from Home Depot, but I have quote a bit of overflow at this point and have been looking for options for build something new.
I sent my dad a couple pictures of pedalboards I like, he sent me back a cad drawing in an hour and had it built to spec in a week. I will never use another pedalboard.
Contractor/Cabinetmaker for 52 years You can get 2x12 fir kiln dried at a reasonable cost if you want a heavy duty option go for structural parlam beams 1.5 or 2.0 available in various depths, even though they are not oriented on edge they will be plenty strong to span on their side Get one lvl and cut it up you’ll be surprised how reasonable they are Call a local lumber yard and ask, I don’t know about big box stores, we have mom and pops out here still in the sticks Also the hardware options are only as limited as you imagination Not from old ships or a Pharaohs sarcophagus but she’ll get er done
THIS ! Been hunting for top notch shelves bc everyone seems to be using the cheap, flimsy Amazon shelves (Spending $50-100 on a shelf to hold $2k plus worth of heavy amps is crazy).
Fluff!! My Dad passed a few years ago, he restored antique furniture and would have loved putting this together. I’m in the Puyallup area, where is this reclaimed wood place?
Would love to build something like that. However my wife doesn’t allow me around power tools. She doesn’t like taking me to the ER all the time. Very cool
Fluff it is hard to find a good shelf for amps. Most that I see in Studios and in peoples spaces are custom made. Awesome time spent with the old man. Thanks for sharing \m/
Silly question is there a way of powering four or more amps through one cab or a gadget to help do this without having to pull out cables and replace ect, how do you run yours? (Safely) 😁😁😁😁😁😁🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
TBH you can buy wire shelving units the same size for less than $100 from amazon or home depot. Granted they don't look as nice the wood shelves but they do the job.
I was waiting for the follow up to why the 2nd plank's thickness was so important but I didn't here it. Was it in there somewhere and I wasn't paying attention? 🤔
Sup Fluf? Do you take video ideas ? Cause i've been searching for this information everywere and i find none or very little and i'm sure that people will actually enjoy. If you do can i give it in the comments or do i send it by email ? Love u pal
Damn, I've been eyeballing that shelf for months now. I didn't know it was a 1200 dollar CUSTOM MADE PIECE OF MODERN ART! Now I'll never have that shelf...
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Kurt Cobain's childhood home was in Aberdeen, Washington. Any Nirvana fans that were alive in the 90's on here? Lol...=P I know FluFF was, surprised he didn't mentioned it.
Old growth wood is pricey even reclaimed now going way up…. Worth is if you gotta have the look, but if the look matters less, go buy industrial all steel at costco…. But hey it looks great.
You know, it sure would be rad if you solde that century 200 a couple years ago instead of flaking out on me, then I would have a super rad randall on my sweet shelf.
Thanks for not being shelfish and sharing these plans 🙌
hahaha!! Shrimp are disgusting..

Thank you!!
I was planning on getting my amp shelf going soon!
Nice amp shelf! Nice amps too! I'm jealous. I'm gonna give it a try & build an amp rack, thanks for sharing for ideas!
This was really great! Thanks so much for sharing your build process, it gave me a lot of ideas for something similar I’m working on. Really beautiful piece you and your dad built!
Cool stuff. Always feels better when it's something you made with you hands. Kind like, "I did that."
Looks like your dad takes pride in his work seeing the craftsmanship in the shelf. Leaving the natural edge on a board or slab is called a live edge. Been wanting to do something like this for my setup but lumber prices are still high in my area. Nice shelf!
did the same thing for the wood that you did, and built a D&D table with a tv in the middle for maps. saved alot of cash
Great vid! I always try and DIY anything I need before buying. Shout out to the PNW and rad dads for helping out with builds!
Looks like you might need to build a couple more of those shelves
I guess you saw my comment on Facebook. Thanks for this video Fluff, I seriously need something like this for my amps!
Good to have the Space. Lets the Amp-Tube's get fresh air and not overheat ( if sealed in ). They look fantastic. I am looking for something like this ( only Adjustable ).
Thanks for the informative video. Great shelf, I plan to build a similar shelf for my gear
Great build, Fluff! Using the threaded inserts was a good move.
Those shelves look so sick.
I’m actually making some right now. What a coincidence! Those are badass!
This is perfect as I’ve been looking at doing this since getting my silver jubilee and jvm

If $1200 is holding 10k plus worth of amps, I'd says it's well worth it. Plus it looks really nice!
Nice shelf I must say! Cheers Fluff!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, nice shelf I enjoyed your story and I was listening to you but.. I just kept staring at the Soldano behind you thinking how badly I would love to have that. Love the collection of amps you have. Thanks for posting.
Shelf I can make, amassing a wall of awesome amps is my issue 🤣🤘🏽
Hey beware that Christmas elf , I hear he likes shelves
@@bearonguitar heading to the lumber reclamation place now I guess 🤘🏽
Its like an open safe!

Is emt conduit strong enough to support much weight?

YOU MADE THE VIDEO! SO EXCITED!!
Great video, Fluff! Thank you! Really has me thinking about building something similar for my bass amps and cab. :)
I don't need a shelf for my two amp heads (1965 Fender Bassman and Peavey Transtube Supreme), but this shelf is great, I would love to build a computer workstation desk with the same theme.
That shelf is fuckin gorgeous. Super cool project
Dads are great

Beautiful work!
Great vid!!!

I was literally googling this yesterday! Lol
What's the name of the reclamation yard? I'm in Puyallup and would love to check it out.
Have you done a vid on tidy rooms and organization ?
I sent my dad a couple pictures of pedalboards I like, he sent me back a cad drawing in an hour and had it built to spec in a week. I will never use another pedalboard.

I live in Aberdeen, nice shelf 👍🏻
Hoping for the baguley video soon 😍
It's called "Live Edge". Looks great man.

Its almost as if everyone(youtubers) don’t have a ton of money
Fluff!! My Dad passed a few years ago, he restored antique furniture and would have loved putting this together.

FLUFF THANK U
God bless dad
Honestly don't think I realized you built it yourself. That's pretty cool.
Whomever gave a thumbs down obviously doesn't like morning wood.
Would love to build something like that. However my wife doesn’t allow me around power tools. She doesn’t like taking me to the ER all the time. Very cool
Whipped!

Yep I use a KHE amp selector
@@RiffsAndBeards nice one thank you, I'll check one out now 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Amazon sells racks that can hold 2-4 guitars and 1 amp.
All i need is a pa speaker and an mt2 with the gain all the way to 10
Are you talking about second use?
I’ve tried to find a shelf but I’ve decided to build my own. It’s impossible to find a good product in stores. Thanx for the video
Man, smell those trees! Smell those Douglas firs...
"I didn't think anyone would care about amp shelves"....
"I was very wrong"....
Indeed you were lol - ALL IS FORGIVEN 😁
I always wondered if that shelf was custom or not, lol 👍
TBH you can buy wire shelving units the same size for less than $100 from amazon or home depot. Granted they don't look as nice the wood shelves but they do the job.
Yeah thats what I literally said I didnt want lol
Why didn't you shout out the place you got that wood? I'd be on my way there right now.
I was waiting for the follow up to why the 2nd plank's thickness was so important but I didn't here it. Was it in there somewhere and I wasn't paying attention? 🤔
Its important to know because when you are buying the threaded inserts, you need ones slightly shorter to account for the narrower thickness
@@RiffsAndBeards ooooh, ok! Makes sense, I just figured I missed it 😂
Built the shelf, now I just need to buy the amps
👍I build my own too .with old wood 🪵
Fluff is strating IKEA tutorials...
"I don't want anything industrial" uses galvanized pipe lol
I learned how to make an amp shelf
now I need an amp
@Louis Torres, I haven’t even watched the video yet and I know fluff made this for you.
This is where I'd put my tube amp heads, IF I HAD ANY
Cool video. Well... my only Head broke down last weak 😅 no need for a shelf
“Today on wrist beards and gear”
500 yr old timber to make amp shelves... true tone wood there
Slick .
If the planks are from Aberdeen, does that make them Nirvana shelves?

Aberdeen, WA...Kurt Cobain's home town. He imbued the wood with grungy tone.
make a video playing all the amps at once
Damn, I've been eyeballing that shelf for months now. I didn't know it was a 1200 dollar CUSTOM MADE PIECE OF MODERN ART! Now I'll never have that shelf...
Bro ur room looks like the ampire plugin library

Its crazy that there are so few amp shelves options out there…
my father and I (sic)
Witnessing Peak hipster in this video.
My dad left when I was 3 and died a little under a year ago.
..... Can't build the amp shelf. 😥
We care about guitar and amp furniture!!!
Your shelves are cool. DIY is the way to go for sure if you're handy and have tools.
I only have one amp. I think I’m good. 😬👍
Beards!

But hey it looks great.
Built with wood from Kurt Cobain's beloved hometown.
Done, now I need some amps 😐
how to build a shelf? get help from dad. because 150lbs is EXTREMELY heavy haha
Aberdine... hmm... sounds familiar. Can't quite put my finger on it, but I assume that lumber might smell like teen spirit... just saying....
Ikea
Aberdeen, kurt cobain hometown
I think thats way to expensive. I could probably build one just as good for $200 . Glad you are happy with yours though.
Aberdeen is where Nirvana / Kurt Cobain came from.
ahya

150 lbs is 2 Mesa Rectos lol
Shit
I would never condone a diy project that needs to support several thousand dollars of equipment. Just don’t do it.
