Hey Nick, any updates?
No not yet, another week has gone by and they are still working on it.
@@NickMurray It would appear fitting a new battery has not solved the problems.
The suspense is building...
What an absolute nightmare. I wouldn’t describe this as “a few minor issues”.
any updates because my toyota camry also have same problem
Replace "M" badge with an "AMG" badge and see if different codes come up...
NO! It will try to pull it's own headbolts out of the block/case!
Jim Destiche Then the engine will stop working completely. But it will look 😎
I hate that badge. Such a hipsters thing to do.
Deary me Nick ! are you gonna lemon it like the 991.1 ??? alibi to get the 992 ;)
The M badging only sped up the reliability problems.
😃 2:10 “Sometimes you gotta go in through the rear” Thanks for the videos Nick.
..🤔..,🤣😂..🤕🤐
Doggystyle
The Porsche dealer’s garage floor is cleaner than my doctor’s office.
Hey doc, I've got achy balls - can you help me out with a diagnosis!
That's because they never repair anything! Just get a new one!!!!
@@haydnreed9932 yes..heres the number to my porsche mechanic...🤣😂😜
??? You have lots of electrical issues and the guy working on the car says he struggles with computer related problems on cars ??? Is this comedy Nick ? :-)
LMAO Lemon Tr11 Nick
I thought the same exact thing!!
Lord save me from these internet trolls. There are obviously other mechanics who specialize in electronics and that doesn’t mean a service center does not need a 20yr+ experienced meister.
Herwig V just looking at his hands he doesn't work on the cars. He is a service advisor. He could of been selling shoes before this value.
lol ikr
You are a master in picking up lemons 🍋🍋🍋 😛
That's what happens when you buy German these days sadly.
That is simply impossible. You can't buy two lemons in a row.
Porsche 2nd to only lexus on JD power stats
@Simmo, and yet this guy gets two faulty Porsches in a row.
Just a few codes and you're calling it a lemon?
...just when I was thinking that "I should but a Porsche, Nick's been having good luck with his second one" you post this video.
this is what I'm thinking damn man, don't wanna drop 100 stacks on a car and have to be in loaners : / (unless, they loan GT2RS')
@@WheresTheAnyKey1 Yeah, I thought porsche was suppose to be pretty solid. Although to spendy for me.
I think it is just @NickMurray doing something to his car. Our 991.2 911 is solid as rock, and has more miles than Nick’s. Also, our GT3 and GT3RS are bullet proof. I am guessing that Nick is trying to use it to power his house or something that is damaging the battery. :)
My Bugatti Veyron has been floorless
Believe it or not the most reliable ones seem to be the 944, from the 1980s - front engined, simpler systems with overbuilt components, but the issues also abound now simply because of age. 1989 was thirty years ago.
My left ear enjoyed this
Make sure you work in some audio for the right as well ; for even wear
Perhaps the blue and sports techno wheels are the root of all your Porsche problems....
you might be on to something
Nick, I’m disappointed you didn’t try to fix this yourself. First drop the head unit back out to the Windows ME desktop, and check the task manager for any unusual processes. Maybe your friend installed something on it while you were away that had malware hidden in it. Always happens that’s why I never loan mine out. You can re-boot in safe mode to delete any apps that shouldn’t be in there. If it keeps happening, you’ll want to install some antivirus. But that’s a last resort as you probably lose about 5HP due to it running in the background. All else fails, do a clean install. It will reset the odometer and all codes, but you’ll lose all your settings.
This was an awesome interview Nick! Thanks for sharing!
So glad I ran out and bought a 991.2 after watching your videos. Why in the hell am I looking to you as a role model?
:)))))))
I’m sure Matt from obsessed garage will gladly tell you how one mouse can completely mess up a 911.
Should’ve gotten a Corolla ;)
Scotty Kilmer approves.

What's a "chick" engine message? 😉
It is a baby chicken that tells you when you have a problem. $6,000 Porsche option.

Clavicle Notch stop it mate, leave Nick alone!
It' an excuse to pullover light, to park up when you have a hot date :) (in my analogue old banger i have to manually pop the cable off the MAF sensor for the same light to come on)
Gotta love the Porsche gurus in Porsche dealerships. Porsche Melbourne has a mechanic that has worked there for 50 years, remembered my car back when it was in pre-delivery (1987)
@livey oone That is Vic, Australia. Sorry... should have specified
There is your problem Nick. Bill is an analog man. You can't have an analog man fix a digital car.🤣😂🤣😂
Seriously started cracking up when I heard this
especially when fixing electrical issues.
Really enjoyed this one Nick. Well done. Had to a blast meeting a seasoned service pro. Thx for sharing the experience. Have a great rest of the week and here’s to hoping your issues are all solved by a new battery. Lol.
Sorry you're having problems with the Porsche. Man you made the right color choice. That blue looks so good in the sunlight.
@1:36 'I'm an analogue man in a digital age'..Mate I was pouring a beer just as he said that - immediate raise of the glass 'I'll drink to that' I said. The M badge is great btw..
I have a 991.1 c2s and I recently started getting some error codes. In fact, my car got the the same engine fault code I saw on your car. My battery was low and I had it replaced. No error codes have shown up since. My porsche tech told me this is quite common. I had 2 batteries replaced on my 997 in just 3 years. Putting the battery on a trickle charger seems to help.
I am ordering a truck load of popcorn.
oh you..
"I lent it to my friend while I was away for weeks at the other side of the globe" enough said.
I think Bill said everything a concerned Porsche owner doesn't want to hear ! 'im having a little trouble because everything is so computerized ' .... ' I'm alittle bit lost as far as computers go' ! Well good luck Nick .... Good thing your Porsche isn't computerized !🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Yup I didn't hear anything that inspired me
I love the old Boxster in the background.
I'm starting to get the impression that Porsche's are not as well made as people say. I mean this is your 2nd one with loads of electronics issues.
N1ckN1ck100 they do have a lot of quality issues actually. More than other German brands.
Thats not true at all@@MrTaliz
tali sson yea they seem extra finicky.
nah, this is nothing compared to his previous 911 which was a one off disaster.
@@MrTaliz bs mate, BMW's are bad. Porsche's are most reliable , look it up.
As a Porsche dealership technician myself, this was an interesting video. It is harder for the older techs in the shop to grasp some of the newer technology in the late model cars. But they make up for it with their experience with the brand and their knowledge of the older cars. I'm interested to see what they find with your concerns with the car. I haven't seen these issues come through my shop yet.
If you never lend your car, you’ll always know the truth.
The first lemon was how I found your channel, lemon #2 to further grow your channel! Congrats!!
Porsche needs to improve software code, so that a low/weak battery would be recognized, rather than a guess.
Here we go! Funny how I had several similar issues (rear lights, coolant warning, oil leaks) with my Boxster, and none with my AMG.
The analog mechanic is fixing the electronic issue; hold your breath
HAPPY NEW YEAR NICK!!!!
I've had my 2017 Macan exactly 2 years now, and with the exception of one small recall that involved replacing a hose, and a tire blow out, I haven't had any issues with mine. I'm at 22k miles now.
Great video Nick. I just got a new macan s love it. I had a 16 cayman the only thing I miss is the manual trans
For a premium car like Porsche, I wouldn’t expect a single issue. These aren’t small issues given the brand. These should be considered as serious. The electronics in these new versions are major issues and Porsche needs to get involved understanding the inner causes. Nick, having to open a car after factory build just devalues it. You should raise this as a common issues with Porsche’s. Sell it and buy the new M4 in 2020
Great video Nick. Tech has excellent knowledge of car systems. Analog was less to chase. Good luck getting the Blue Barron back on road
A mouse story was the best he could come up with after 20 yrs working around All those cars hahahahahaha LOL 😀😀😀 bloody classic....
Next time I want to make a fresh lemon juice I'll call Nick Murray the lemon master
😅😂🤣😭
Great video. And what a mechanic shop. Clean and beautiful cars.
I hope the battery takes care of things. That actually makes sense. I doubt this car is a lemon. Sounds like it's in excellent hands.
I’ve owned 3 P cars over the past 11 years, routine maintenance and 1 replaced battery ( my fault). I’ve just recently, as of July 2018 switched to Audi brand with a A6 Competition s- line. We’ll see how that pans out. Love the content, and hope 2019 is good to you and your stuffed animal family.🇨🇦
mine had a lot of the same issues and after months they finally replaced the wiring harness which solved everything. thank god it was under warranty. not mice related.
Another excellent video. Cheers
That would frustrate the shit out of me, man. You're a patient and calm human being.
Thanks for sharing Nick. Good to reinforce the need for CPO on used purchases. Perhaps pull the Carfax after service is completed to see what the dealer notes.
I had the same issue with the clutch. turned out to be a $54 micro switch, but very scary when it happens.
The rear light warning I got on my bmw was something with the light housing and a burned ground or something so it thought all the lights were out.
Hey Nick, when you're given a lemon you should simply make lemonade. Your car would make an excellent lawn ornament. 🤣😂
Your dog snorting was hilarious. Lol 🤣
Nik, you are a great salesman to convince the dealership to film there!!
Looking forward to seeing an update on your personal Porsche.
How is a Turbo Cab the best resale? A GT3 or GT3RS would hold value much better assuming you buy it at sticker.
yeah, that makes no sense. depreciation on a turbo cab is higher than a coupe. the targas are sticky though so that part is on point.
@@ggarrison1087 The tech does not know the values of the various models for sure.
Poor guy has probably been fed shit from the sales department for the past 20 years
Shifted Perspective that guy nows nothing on Porsche beyond his training manual. Cabs have the lowest resale value than any other Porsche 911. Just see how many are for sale and the prices. Not that they are not a great car but its a niche car.
@@jamesreith2728 lol.. so true. American Porsche dealers are notorious for their "sales tactics"
Nick!! You are not alone..... the bays were full of ever make and model of Porsche😂
Still a child. Love you Nick!
Nick, after getting your advice, I’ve installed front PPF on my 718 Cayman GTS.
I have one more question. I’m thinking about installing an aftermarket exhaust (probably Fabspeed exhaust). In your opinion is this a good idea?
Good luck Nick, you certainly have patience!
Such a great looking car! I’ve had zero issues with my 997.2 (dark blue also) with the exception of the windshield. Hopefully they sort out the issues or give you a great deal on a green 992.
I could watch that mechanic talk all day
Remove M badge and all lights that shouldnt be on will turn off
Best comment EVER,Cheers.
Wow scary stuff - getting worried about my 991.2 - great video
Sell it while the word is not out yet
Yip! Batteries are a Plague for a lot of modern pieces of machinery, a variation in voltage and all Hell breaks loose.
So many electronics drawing on AMPS while sitting etc, takes no time at all to drop the correct voltage.
I use to run into this with my Marine Business, with all the modern electronics being installed on Yachts and Cruises, any drop in voltage would Screw equipment and reading's all the time.
This is a real problem since the introduction of a similar type of Can-bus system as used in Automobile's.
Good luck Mate. 🇳🇿🇳🇿
Hey Nick, pity you couldn't come through Kelowna BC on your way to Vancouver, I retired up there last yr.
Murray A. 🇳🇿🇳🇿 ChCh.
You're right. A few weeks ago my ABS light came on and then started flashing every time I used my indicators. Also, when reversing, the reversing sensor bleeped continuously with nothing behind the car. It was most strange. The following day the car seemed fine, but after parking at some shops it wouldn't start again. The battery was completely dead as a result of an alternator failure, although I don't know why my battery light didn't warn me about this before the battery died. As you say, when batteries start getting low it can result in all sorts of weird symptoms. I replaced the alternator and also replaced the battery for good measure and now everything is back to normal.
Heated Seats & Car Radio Amp Drawing Power While The Car Is Not Running ~ Big Problem With These New Cars
Hi Nick, a while back I had a similar issue with my car, all sorts of warning light came on for no reason, car was in and out of dealership for a month before they figure out that the master control board had failed completely, you may want your dealer to check that, it could be the source of your problem.
what do we know about the propensity or lack there of, of the new 3.0 GDI engine to develop carbon deposits on the intake valves as is so common with other GDI engines?
Great video / interview!
Nick is about to get a lot more viewers again :)
Fingers crossed Nick. You never know you might get a new car
Just a thought but I wonder if the electrical installs , radar and cameras etc, are draining the battery. When you were on vacation it did not get driven as much and lost charge?
Nice Review Nick - Porsche. Goldmeister also nice!
The sound Nick. The sound..
Hi Nick what is the red light flashing on your car behind the front wheel? I can't make out from the video if it is attached to your car or is in the workshop, that light could be cause of your problems.
Ever thought about getting a battery maintainer that you could hook up when your not driving the car?
Hey Nick glad to see you got home safe :) thanks for the updates, makes me feel so nosey about ye olde life ..... stick with the Golf rather, less hassles :P
Not had issues like that on my 991 but I did on my earlier 997. A raft of intermittent errors which kept coming and going, inc the fuel gauge like yours. The cause, after many days of tests and troubleshooting, turned out to be the battery! Basically it was not giving enough voltage at startup so various systems would not work properly and then trigger errors. New battery fixed everything. But exactly one year later I had 2 random error codes appear - I took it in and insisted they test the battery before touching anything else ... battery again ...
My 99 boxster has no issues. Same for my 996 turbo. So there u go.
Agreed. My 1999 996 is bulletproof. It's the best year to get for sure.
Love the analog guy!
Ah the fabled German reliability.
It more likely the owners use. Porsche 2nd in JD power survey
JD power survey is overrated. Wouldn’t go off that at all.
What a legend mechanic, would love to have a pint with Bill :-)
That's my dad! He would love to have a pint with you and talk shop :)
Haha No way! That's awesome, unfortunately I live in the UK... If I ever make it over near the dealership I will hit you up on that for sure :-)
You just here for the M badge Joe?😀
another 130k car with issues. LOL
The Mechanic is fantastic...cool guy to have a beer with!
Happy New Year, Nick. Getting deja vu here! Hope you get sorted soon. Did I hear right; a week off the road to basically install a new battery and I guess run diagnostics? If mine was in more than a day for that I’d not be impressed.
Your mechanic might be Christopher Walken's brother
Tedward MORE COWBELL!!!
And now...little man...I'm giving it to you
Lemon 🍋
Wow, you do seem to have some issues. I have a 2012 991 and it's never been in the shop except for fluid changes. Sorry for your troubles, it must be frustrating.
Charles Jacobus My 2012 987.2 Boxster is the same. Only standard annual maintenance after 25000 miles.
@@alliejr I'm thinking it's the license plate that's causing the problem. :-)
Hey Nick, I see a trade in on the horizon. 🤣😂🤣
Time for that Morgan Aero 8
no doubt he will. He has to have the Porsche's 911 latest greatest....don't you know this?
Hello Nick, can you do a video on Porsche 911 tires (tyres) ? There is a lot of online confusion between cost versus benefit of various brands - GY, Pirelli, Michelin, Conti, and a lot of Japanese brands. My 997 4S has all Michelins -> I have (235/35/Z19 87Y) on the front and (305/30/Z19 102Y) on the rear and I am struggling to find the right ones to replace them.
Hope it gets sorted Nick!
Nice to get a look underneath your car. Is there a crack in the front panel underneath, or is it supposed to look like that?
Check engine lights and strange warning messages; sounds like a shortage of amperes from the battery for sure 👍
My first though when you mentioned all the fault codes is a bad battery. It's pretty common on these cars from what I've heard. Should be a simple fix if that's the case.
Did you say the Targa had good resale value? It's my favourite, so that's good to know.
Please talk about the new 911 which seems to be heavier?
Idk where this is but it sounds like the mechanic was talk about Obsessed garage’s gt3 wiring harness getting chewed up.
Tech seems like a great guy, but he was off the mark when he said turbo cabs hold their value best. Not even close to the value the GT cars hold. Turbo cars, although fantastic cars in every measure, drop in value like rocks compared to GT cars for some reason.
I like analogue guys like Bill. Again a very nice video Nick, thanks for sharing!
Cars seem to hate being driven by anyone other than their owners. Every time I left cars with others they started to come up with issues that they never had before.
Cool to hear from a Porsche tech
I have been tempted by a 997 as a weekend car but reliability issues on your much fresher 991 have me worried!
Nick, how are you treating your 911. Ive owned 6 over the years and never had the issues you have come across...
The workshop is so 'perfect'. If only mine looked was so flash!
What name is that orange color of the Targa in the background?
Nick, sorry to hear about your 991.2 problems.
