Welcome to Gamer Tiers! In this episode PBG, Shane of DidYouKnowGaming, Chadtronic and Proton Jon are ranking every main course in Super Mario 64. From Bob-Omb Battlefield to Rainbow Ride, these levels which hold a special in place in our panel's heart will be put through their paces. Their favorite levels may shock you, but what might be even more shocking is their least favorites. Trust me, it's bonkers.

What's YOUR favorite level in Super Mario 64?
The mario one
BBH
tiny huge island
Theres only a couple of good ones. Bobomb fortress and thwomps fortress are p much it. Maybe boos hut
Hazy Maze Cave for sure, I was happy to see it was a favorite throughout all the lists.
I was gonna subscribe to this channel, but some of the people have really bad opinions about Shifting Sand Land so I'm not sure.
Yeah Same.
It's a crap level peebs.
Austin got the best opinions ❌🧢
peebins spittin straight facts
Come on Peebs, you could have made Chad admit that it has one of the best boss battles in the game!
I hope this comes back one day. This format is so fun, the way the discussions were handled by the group was really great, and I didn't think furst could be replaced as a debate moderator in my heart but Todd is wonderful. Whenever group content is made on this channel I'm happy but this stuff in particular was amazing. Hope you guys bring it back.
I like how they made that whole intro for 3 videos
This format is just pure gold, I need this for literally every single topic ever
Boo's Big Haunt deserved more. ):
I agree with austin. Tiny huge island is just not fun
Never stop making these
I thought Normal boots was coming back! You guys kinda just showed up for two videos and left again.
Okay before watching, if Big Boo's Haunt isn't S tier I'm gonna riot
Edit: Alright riot time
PITCHFORKS AND TORCHES READY!
Name one good thing about Big Boo’s Haunt. I’ll wait.
I’ll get my pitch Fork!
“Cotton candy! Can’t have a riot without cotton candy!”
The Danganronpa debate music during this is very fitting
"Do you like the game?"
"NO!"
Classic!
29:40
"I'm gonna paraphrase something you said in your throwback Chad, you said-"
"**BEAR NAKED.**"
For me, it was "Does you deodorant make you smell good?"
The way Todd communicates and the inflection of his speech makes me think he would be a fantastic DM
Omg imagine a D& December event with Todd as the DM and Jared as a Guest Star
Normal Boots DND would actually slap tho
Austin: I'm not trying to be controversial
Also austin: literally just moved bobomb battlefield down because other people liked it
"when are they gonna release Mario long and annoying ?" they did, it's called chaos and you beat it bro
I'm so sad we never got a Gamer Tiers like this for Zelda. I'd love to hear their in-depth opinions.
I'm SO excited for the Final Fantasy episode.
Wet Dry world has always been my favorite mainly for the mystery. What is the town? how does it work, how lives there, whats with the massive city outside the world???
That skybox fills me with dread though because i have a fear of massive open areas with nothing in slight just being stuck our there gets to me.
This series is hilarious, please never stop making these.
HA
Looks like they maybe stopped :(
I have bad news
@@Copyright_Infringement they are just taking ANOTHER break i assume
They stopped making these
PBG is in this show just to stir the pot.
If Rainbow Ride is so bad then how come it's the only Mario 64 stage to make it into Smash Bros?
Smash's version is better.
And the aesthetics of the level are great. It's just that playing it is annoying. There's too many easy ways to fall off and end your progress, and getting 100 coins on that stage is aggravating.
@@buchiklop110 The stage is cool! It has so many branching paths and many of them feel like one of those athletic sky levels from Super Mario Bros 3, but in 3D! But the magic carpet stuff is pretty slow and annoying, however, you can skip the "mandatory" magic carpet in the beginning by long jumping to a pole behind you and when I first discovered that, I was so proud of myself and felt super cool! They made this stage even better in the DS remake, 'cause of the P Balloon power up Mario can grab and Luigi's better jumping abilities! Even though many people hate this section, the final cannon part is really cool because it's like a final test on this mechanic that you've been utilizing through out the game and the tension is on!
Because Sakuri picked it because if was the closest to a Kirby level. /joke
If Rainbow Ride's so great then why did Tick Tock Clock make it into Mario Kart but Rainbow Ride didn't?
@@noelnotcole7940 ‘Cause there are so many rainbow-based traks in Mario Kart already and Rainbow Ride was already in Smash... That’s a little excessive.
Jon: Neutral Good
Chad: Lawful Neutral
Shane: Chaotic Neutral
Austin: Chaotic Evil
What is Jon.
@@cy5434 good catch
Lethal Lava Land is at the top of S for me. Its the level I always get the most excited for when playing. It looks kinda bland, but its a cool little sandbox with a simple gimmick, the floor is lava. Its a nice break from the swarm of very vertical levels in 64, while still having a fun but short vertical section in the volcano. It focuses on simple fun compact 3d platforming, and if you fall in the lava you get punished but can still recover. Once you unlock the shell, you feel powerful and free riding wherever you want to go. It does need a better red coin star though.
Finally!!!! Same… Lethal Lava Land was always my favorite from childhood and to now….
I'm with Peebs on Tiny Huge Island. While I love the concept, the stage itself is easily the most frustrating in my experience.
I 110% agree. Every time I get to that stage I feel like I'm wading through mud lol. (the concept is good though)
I'm freaking surprised he didn't mention the Lukitu and the Giant Cheep Cheep.
Digging the Jet Set Radio music.
Man I keep rewatching the three gamer tiers patiently waiting for the next… I might have a problem lol. Madness and this series are such fantastic content, and what makes it so great is the Normal boots crew. Such an entertaining group of guys, please never stop making content like this!
Dude, Todd was such a great addition to the team. Not only his able to make sense out of all of this information with his editing, but he's also a PHENOMENAL host! Like, the way he organizes all of this and gets the guys interacting and talking is honestly mind blowing. NormalBoots really picks the best hosts out there, and I though Furst would be unbeatable as host, but he and Todd are honestly nothing short but amazing!
Also, I'm pretty sure Peebs is in it just to spread chaos all around hahaha.
Such a fun episode and series as a whole, guys! I'm really excited for everything that's coming next!
I thought this too. Exceptional hosting skills. Unusually talented at an under-appreciated skill.
Austin: Plays Mario 64 1000 times on many channels
Also Austin: The igloo level! The one with the rainbows!
I can't remember the names of anything once someone hits record on a camera next to me. :)
@@Peebs that's OK, we still like you peeps! I always forget the cave level's name
@@Peebs its all that peanut butter hes had
@@Infinifry55 lol @ peeps
"Normal Boots is Back!"
China is whole again...
Then it broke again...
I remember when Normal boots came back. It was a fun time. I miss that time. Maybe one day they'll come back again.
Normal boots never really came back, they kinda just did a hardcore series and left again
10:08
Pbg - the igloo is a entirely new level
Proceeds to go on at how lethal lava land and shifting sand land are the only levels with a level in a level
I want this series and madness to come back so badly
I wonder if Austin's opinions on the levels has been affected by his time with chaos edition
I love how Jon hates Super Mario 64 but also outright says he'd probably put a lot of the levels at S-tier.
I like how Peebs and Shane use their real names but Chad and Jon use their channel names,
Fascinating that the two levels that don't use portraits for their icons are the top and the bottom of the list
I think you guys should do a Mario Party Tier List for the upcoming release of Mario Party Superstars
I would like that.
I am subscribing because of Hazy Maze Cave (My fav course) in S tier
The best part of rainbow ride is the coin maze and the parkour side. So basically, everything but the carpet.
Actually for some reason I remember the pyramid levels very fondly.
I love how nearly every level people thought would be an easy discussion was a struggle.
I can really see the debate for Bob-omb Battlefield. If you judge it as a first stage it is fantastic, if you judge it as just another stage then it is really mediocre.
I love how Todd inserted that Danganronpa music when he did.
I feel like Austin always gives up a lot of ground and never gets it back so it was nice for him to get Shifting Sand Land. Really looking forward to the JRPG list.
well. its cause he is bad at articulating opinions and what he says boils down to " cause i said so" and thats it. and his opinions tend to be kind of bad
I wonder if it will be ranking Poke'mon, Mario, Final Fantasy, or Dragon Quest. I have my opinions for most of those games.
@@dannyhargreaves3340 54:08 they hinted at final fantasy
Shane: Fuck Rainbow Ride. Only weirdos like that level
Austin: *Exists
Rainbow ride is fun because it's challenging. Getting the 100 coins was a pain but dang... it's a good level. For some reason it reminds me of the flying boss ships in Super Mario 3 on the nes. I'm with pbg on this one.
@@jordanbridges agreed
@@jordanbridges I personally get that same challenge from Tick Tock Clock without having to wait for the slow moving carpet, rather I am rushed on fast paced platforms,
@@joey5745 Both are the worst levels in the game
I feel like Austin doesn't actually have strong opinions on most of these things and just decides to be devisive.
I gotta agree with Austin. I love Rainbow Ride and hate Tiny Huge Island.
Chad has hereby revoked his ability to comment on music and soundtracks
What? There's no way you think BBH's music slaps.
@@AgentAaron101 Which is in no way what it strives out to do in the first place? It's an eerie atmospheric piece that fits the creepy whiplash that is this level compared to the rest of the game
I couldn’t agree more with Austin about Tiny Huge Island.
Did not expect Dark Cloud 2 music in here but it was a *delight* to hear it!
This is why I love Gamer Tiers! The topics can be super specific, and the amount of content for each topic does not matter.
would love to see a similar gamer tiers vid on mario odyssey kingdoms later on 👀
Bro I just got the pun in Gamer Tiers... Fucking genius Todd
Has anyone ever gotten the Stand Tall on the Four Pillars star without actually STANDING on the four pillars? I've done that a couple of times growing up.
I really don't see how you can compare wet-dry world with the water temple except on a surface (of water) level. I mean, as much as I love Ocarina, the way you change the water level is going to a very specific point of a bloody labyrinth, play the song, listen to the song play again, and then watch a cutscene of the water playing. And it only changes in one direction, so if you need the water at its highest point and it's at its lowest, you have to do that twice
Wet-dry world you run into a diamond and boop! The water is a different level. There's really no comparison for which is better. Then again I dunno why I'm defending wet-dry world when the water stage I picked was dire-dire docks. Oh well
Basement levels are clearly top tier. They basically get worse as you go higher in the castle.
Hearing Danganronpa music while 5 men discuss levels in SM64 is a mood
Hazy Maze Cave getting the 100 coin star is by far one of the worst times I have had in a game. So frustrating because you have to run throughout the ENTIRE cave every single godforsaken time if you accidentally die.
Do NOT miss the 2 or 3 blue coins you can get inside the poison cave from the blue coin block or you will have to do EVERYTHING all over again. Do that FIRST. Then if you get them, complete the rest. SUCH a pain.
You guys do a great job with these, I'm always really excited to watch them and I watched the mario kart one like 3 times
I didn’t know about the Wet Dry warps. Mind blown.
I tried to 100% 64 and I couldn't get all the tiktok clock stars and I never even touched rainbow ride
I adore the dichotomy between the four of these nerds, lmfao
Same.
Would a dichotomy between 4 be a "tetrachotomy"?
Not that I'm complaining but every episode so far has been mario related
Yeah, it is kinda not so fun to see Mario stuff back to back but, hey, atleast next up is JRPGs and hopefully that means we get some Jirard action
Well from the end of the video, it sounds like they might be doing a Final Fantasy tier list next.
Next set of GamerTiers please
I’d love to see their takes on some Mario Galaxy galaxies
Shane: "Well he should stop having bad opinions!"
Really nails this show for me. Everyone ganging up on PBG and his terrible opinions makes me so amused.
*amazing opinions
@@andrew-ub4ku *controversial opinions
@@jordanbridges *based opinions
*dank opinions
Wow A normal boots Update
Tiny Huge Island is one of my least favorite levels, and I'm 90% sure it's just me being salty from it having the worst 100 coin mission in the game. The level's 100 coin takes every problem with the level and amplifies it. The tiny island has so many slopes that can randomly kill you, you are forced to travel through a majority of the huge island which you can normally just avoid by jumping to the top of the tiny island, and the open windy area and the red coin area serve as high risk areas for unfair deaths that you would normally travel to at the end of a run. It doesn't really matter to me if a few of the stars are really cool when I'm spending a majority of my time in the stage trying to beat the worst star in the game.
What about Rainbow Ride 100 coins, or Hazy Maze Cave 100 coins
I don’t think PBG knows how this works. Why did he “compromise” in his own words, his personal list when they make a group list at the end?
I was thinking about that too! It's one thing to change your opinion based on the arguments everyone else presents, it's something completely different to (as he literally states) "compromise" on your own personal tier list. If you're not convinced, don't change it, and make your arguments and compromises at the end with the group tier list
Best boy Shane with his adorable smile in the thumbnail. True joy
At last, Danganronpa music!
How come you guys don’t do more of these?
17:09 que Monokuma
How is it that a channel with RUclipsrs each have millions of subscribers has less than 500k
new videos guys??
Why no more gamer tiers???
I’m wondering the same thing
Chad, how you gunna be wearing Sony studio headphones but still be using a yeti? We gotta get you a microphone lol
COMMITMENT TO THE BIT
What's up bonsai love your videos
Wtf Is wrong with a yeti? Download voice meter and it’ll sound as good as any studio mic.
Clearly, you aren't familiar with Chad's bits
So, what Austin likes, is a challenge. He wants a challenge that the game says, "You can't do this!" And PBG says, "-How dare you! I can do this, I won't stop until I do!" Diligence. Determined. Stubborn to not give up.
I like Hazy Maze Cave, and I would rank it S if it wasn't for the 100 Coin star. Almost no mention of any of the 100 coin stars, which are super important to 100%. You're practically forced to move through the entire stage potentially twice or thrice over AND collect the 8 reds again. The stage is good, but its a lot less fun of a coin star than BBB for example. For that star alone, I probably would have it in A.
man. pbg just fucking up all over the place in these episodes.
its the FIRST LEVEL. its not gonna blow your mind. its does its job perfectly for being a introduction not only to the game but 3d mario as a whole.
I really enjoyed this video. Please do one for Banjo Kazooie - THE BEST 3D PLATFORMER ON THE N64
Here’s my list, I made it before watching, the Basemant is the best section, excluding Dire Dire, it has the right amount of difficulty, and it has a scary ambiance too,
Wet Dry World
Lethal Lava Land
Shifting Sand Land
Hazy Maze Cave
Bobomb Battlefield
Whomps Fortress
Jolly Roger Bay
Cool Cool Mountain
Big Boos Haunt
Tall Tall Mountain
Dire Dire Docks
Snowman Land
Tick Tock Clock
Rainbow Ride
Tiny Huge Island
“Rainbow Ride is fun!”
-Peebs 2021
Sooooo it's almost been half a year is the channel done....again? (Edit nearing one whole year I'm gonna say it's done well at least for me)
Honestly right??
Man, never has an online discussion made me want to shout my opinions at people more.
Tiny Huge Island SUCKS. When you're big you just get hit once and then you're dead and then you have to redo the entire star. It's stupid.
EDIT: TICK TOCK CLOCK ALSO SUCKS WHAT THE FRICK
Remember guys, you can't pick whichever level is your favorite or you think is the best, think about what the ESSENCE of a Mario 64 level is
@@gavino5505 Referencing the "Best N64 games" season of the old Madness series. Instead of picking their favorite games or what games they thought were actually the best, Jared kept insisting on picking the games that were the "ESSENCE OF THE N64" lol
every episode is like:
Peebs: this thing is cool because of this
Shane: yeah! just like the other thing you hated
Peebs: we’ll yeah but…
still waiting for the next episode
But wait, isn’t the outside world in shifting sand land a puzzle itself? Which is something John loves lol
I think Peebs putting Rainbow Ride at A, and Chad putting Big Boo's Haunt at D are my biggest gripes lol. I can pretty much get behind every other decision though.
The main issue with Rainbow Ride is that it has the same song as Tick Tock Clock and so the amount of times you need to hear it in a row it really starts to get to you
17:47 TEII EM CHAD
What's that second painting?
28:45 is that shibuya from twewy??
is the piano really a miniboss? Can you even defeat it?
I have complete opposite opinions on hazy maze and big boo. Big boo is S teir for me, its my favorite level to play as a kid and a as an adult, hazy maze was fun as a kid, but going back its always my least favorite to get 100 coins on. There is barely enough coins and everything is so spread out, i end up falling in a pit at like 90 coins and rage quitting my 120 star playthrough. Big boo has such a cool atmosphere, the piano that scared the hell out of me as a kid. The only downside is the merry go round pit imo.
finaIIy someone says it 17:17
Plessie? I think you mean Dorrie.
