when people did 3d modelling and cgi we had sculptors and practical effects people saying that art was being destroyed. There was probably a caveman that shit talked using canvas instead of drawing on rocks LOL, that's just how it is.

I would say that this extends even beyond art, I've never had a single original thought, have you? AI (as they call it, it's not real AI), is only a tool at the end of the day and what it creates evokes feelings out of people (to you it seems to be disgust LOL), which is the very definition of art. Just because you don't see any human agency in this creation, it doesn't mean that there isn't. Even in the case that AI "steals" art to amalgamate it's own, that's still basically what humans do themselves anyway. The art we make is affected by what we have seen and the information that's readily available, AI art is no different. I imagine it won't be long before these learning models can describe the intent behind the art, not just creating the art.
