They rebuilt the coliseum from the first film in Malta. It's basically the same setup in the same location with the same director as the first film. The biggest structural change that I see is that the director Ridley Scott is now the coproducer as well.

I actually didn't think this was real. I thought this was just a poorly assembled fan made video... So, to be sure, I google searched it. "Gladiator 2." "An upcoming historical film..." And oh my God, there it was. This really is an actual movie in the makes. 😂The music choices, Denzel's character speaking/laughing like Frank Lucas in American Gangster, the soundtrack at 2:00... things just don't fit. I like Denzel, but this seemed like a waste of a casting by him. They did him dirty. Hollywood and their exorbitant budgets. Producing films that end up flopping. It's why I usually prefer indie films and certain fan made stuff. That editing/transition at 0:43 was funny though.

The original Gladiator was not totally historical - it was an Americanised fantasy world of Rome, don’t take it as gospel - the sequel appears to be another fantasy at the least but there are some aspects that already look more accurate and authentic, eg: The flooded arena floor to simulate naval battles Also, ancient history is NOT prehistory - prehistory specifically refers to a time period where we have no written records or evidence of writing - only the Regal Period of Rome fits this criteria

Denzel's character just feels like a new Proximo. If that's the case, they should have just cast Djimon Hounsou. The character arc of him being a slave and gladiator to winning his freedom and now becoming a merchant/trader looking to overthrow the entire system could have been the heart of the story. It would also mirror Proximo's own story.

I love Jay Z musically. But this song takes me completely away from the world that the original created. The original was a cinematic masterpiece and It’s already hard enough living up to a sequel. They rebuilt the coliseum from the first film in Malta. It's basically the same setup in the same location with the same director as the first film. The biggest structural change that I see is that the director Ridley Scott is now the coproducer as well.

I actually didn't think this was real. I thought this was just a poorly assembled fan made video... So, to be sure, I google searched it. "Gladiator 2." "An upcoming historical film..." And oh my God, there it was. This really is an actual movie in the makes. 😂The music choices, Denzel's character speaking/laughing like Frank Lucas in American Gangster, the soundtrack at 2:00... things just don't fit. I like Denzel, but this seemed like a waste of a casting by him. They did him dirty. Hollywood and their exorbitant budgets. Producing films that end up flopping. It's why I usually prefer indie films and certain fan made stuff. That editing/transition at 0:43 was funny though.

The reason the first movie was so impactful, was the fact that you could actually get lost in that world and truly believe you we’re looking into that prehistoric world. In between Denzel’s American a$$ accent and the sounds track you’ll be reminded very quickly your just watching a movie that’s attempting to have “tone” to it

The original Gladiator was not totally historical - it was an Americanised fantasy world of Rome, don’t take it as gospel - the sequel appears to be another fantasy at the least but there are some aspects that already look more accurate and authentic, eg: The flooded arena floor to simulate naval battles
Also, ancient history is NOT prehistory - prehistory specifically refers to a time period where we have no written records or evidence of writing - only the Regal Period of Rome fits this criteria

Denzel's character just feels like a new Proximo. If that's the case, they should have just cast Djimon Hounsou. The character arc of him being a slave and gladiator to winning his freedom and now becoming a merchant/trader looking to overthrow the entire system could have been the heart of the story. It would also mirror Proximo's own story.

I love Jay Z musically. But this song takes me completely away from the world that the original created. The original was a cinematic masterpiece and It’s already hard enough living up to a sequel.

They're Arab and their skin is not Black. There are more than Blacks in Africa you know? In fact, you'd likely offend an Arab if you called him Black. The Arabs are also known for enslaving Blacks and Europeans. There are photos of the Berber troops who took back Italy with the Allies in WW2. They are quite obviously not Black. If this was a King named Marcus Opellius Macrinus, to whom you're referring, then you can clearly see in the statue his face shows no "Black" characteristics. Apparently they ruled alongside

The rhino would be a stretch even without a rider. Also, I don't think the Romans had crossbows. Meanwhile, I hope the music is just in the trailer and not the movie.
Crossbows were known to the Ancient Greeks and to the Ancient Romans but only to small fractions of their Armies. Crossbows were more widely used during the medieval period; but they were known and used by the Romans.
The first Gladiator wasn't in any shape or form accurate either.
@@LordSnorky It wasn't historical, but it worked pretty well as a fictional period drama without feeling like fantasy. This seems a little less grounded overall.
@@matthewzito6130 It was a great story and a great film but I'm legitimately struggling to think of one thing that was accurately portrayed. Not costumes, or locations, historical figures, battle tactics, politics, historical events, or anything really.
