Talk about being BORN for a certain role!) SHE was truly meant to be Bjorn's life partner. She alone was made of the exact same cloth as Lagertha-- but without the jealousy gene. That she chose to "swim to Valhalla to be with Bjorn," rather than be one of two queens of Norway to Harald Finehair's king, says it ALL. Lagertha partnered with a few other men, that's how she became an Earl after all, and at least one woman in the years after she left Ragnar. In this particular scene.. Bjorn surpassed Ragnar momentarily. What a great warrior. Bjorn didn’t have the wit of Ragnar, but he surpassed his father as a warrior,
Well, to me, he's greater than Ragnar, he died a legend, and he always fought bravely. As a character Ragnar had more charisma and all that, Travis did his job impressively, but Bjorn is epic
Well the swedish people i know say Bjorn Ironside was the greatest. He was first king of kings of sweden and prety much the first leader of sweden as we know it today (my girlfriend, who is half swedish says that her grandfather told her stories about bjorn ironside, whom he called the father of sweden) So in the real world history bjorn was defenitly greater than ragnar

Why does nobody talk about just how much love Hvitserk has for all his brothers. I bet in his mind all he wants is for them to all live together happily.
@Random Dude I n Asgard which is roughly means Viking Heaven. Valhalla is the Hall of champions where all the great warriors who died in battle are gathered and they feasting and drinking and fighting every day.
This seen was epic but with a very disappointing ending. The whole last season was rushed and not very well balanced. Björn should have had a much better ending, he was also a main character since Season 1. I mean he deserves an ending like Ragnar or Lagertha.
I think you have the popular opinion on this one bud. I was a huge game of thrones fan but the final season, particularly the finale......sad sad day for game of thrones fans :(

“The Kings and Queens, the Jarls and Earls of Norway answered the summons of Bjorn Ironside and came to save their country. For he was truly, the King of all Norway and no one else could have united all his people and brought them to victory…” *chills* Hail King Bjorn!!
but did the Rus try to take Norway in the 9th century [or ever]? the Bjorn Ironside of history on the other hand was a menace by pillaging half of Europe
@@embreis2257 i don't think so + rus were also led by vikings That's why I don't get why did the Rus leader do a cross sign, they were pagans too Edit: also king Harald united Norway and Bjorn was supposedly a king of Sweden
@@nikator160 agreed. the Kievan Rus' leaders were partly of viking ancestry. The Rurik dynasty started around Bjorns lifetime. even some christianisation efforts are documented from the late 860s, but in general the Rus were considered christianised only by 988, a century after Bjorns pillaging and plundering
After this Ivar knew Bjorn was indeed the chosen one. Been fearful and intelligent wasn't what made the chosen one. It was all honor and respect and Bjorn earned that and brought ALL his Northmen people together. Raganr would be extremely proud not to mention he got his people to get there settlements in England with Ubbe.
bjorn was cringe not smart nor worthy of a title like ivar is ruthless cunning those who are willing to sacrifice anything will make it to Valhalla; especially considering if they have characteristic like oden the allfather.
Nothing says 'We're F**ed!' more than when you put arrows into the enemy's leader and he still has the strength to summon an army three times your size.
Ok seems none of you know what your talking about. Bjorns Army had the high ground and outflanked or rather had calvary attacking from the right flank. So the opposing army was surrounded. So even if you are facing a smaller army if you are being attacked by two sides surrounded and you have no calvary then you can be at a disadvantage.
A beautiful ending for a Viking with integrity. He saved his people with determination and resolve, they ran for they knew they were lesser men compared to Bjorn.
Björn Järnsida is a swedish "fairytale king" (meaning it cant be confirmed if he was a real person or not). He is said to be the founder of a swedish line of kings, not norweigian line of kings. just like how ragnar lodbrok (also a fairytale king) is said to have been the son of a swedish viking king. his own birthplace however is different in the stories from sweden, denmark and norway, all claiming he was born there. the thing the story mostly agrees on though is that he was the son of a swedish viking king. either way these people are not able to verify if they were real people or if they are just fairytales, its also impossible to verify where in scandinavia they were from. thats why they usually go by just "scandinavia" instead of a specific scandinavian nationality. however the tale goes that he was the son of the swedish viking king Sigurd Ring (also king of denmark, but he was a Svear which means he was swedish) and his sons (ragnars sons) split the nordics between them, Björn Järnsida (Bjorn Ironside) being given Sweden. Their genetics are without a doubt in the _stories_ swedish, their nationalities however are different depending on where the story is told. The only thing known for sure is that its a scandinavian tale about scandinavian characters, if they are real and if so where they were from is just a big questionmark.
@@isakpedersen1425 no, the tales never mention his nationality, only that he was the son of a swedish viking king. where ragnar lived is different in the tales depending on the country the tale was told in, the only thing consistent is his father, who was a swedish king (but in the story he defeated the danish king in combat and became the danish king too, or more specifically the danish king was struck down by odin)
This scene took me by surprise. By far my favourite scene in the series. It was chilling! I know it’s not fully historically accurate but imagine being so epic that over a thousand years have past and people are still telling your stories.
Ya. Hardly accurate at all. Idk why they have to completely bastardize the story of women warriors. The truth alone that woman earned rank and were respected is enough in of itself. But they take it to an absurd level by having woman wearing armor and leading a vanguard front line charge lol. That’s really not necessary
Есть исторический факт когда один викинг берсерк удерживал долгое время армию англичан не давая им перейти через мост на реке. Он прикрывал отход своих соратников.
No he wasn’t, Ragnar knew power held responsibility & always listened to the people first. That’s why Bjorn always recalls his father telling him ‘Power is always dangerous. It attracts the worst. And corrupts the best’

No the Rus still has the greater numbers. They were just morale shocked.
In which case the leader dying like this would be utterly pointless.. he does this to shatter their morale precisely because they had weaker numbers
You're already f--ked if an army three times your size is nearby enough to be summoned....and there was no such army in this scene.
@@alexispennsylvania Meaning that numbers doesn't always win battles
Ok seems none of you know what your talking about.
Bjorns Army had the high ground and outflanked or rather had calvary attacking from the right flank. So the opposing army was surrounded.

Bjorn Ironside
@@opposed2logic ragnar in the tales was danish
@@isakpedersen1425 no, the tales never mention his nationality, only that he was the son of a swedish viking king. where ragnar lived is different in the tales depending on the country the tale was told in, the only thing consistent is his father, who was a swedish king (but in the story he defeated the danish king in combat and became the danish king too, or more specifically the danish king was struck down by odin)

Ya. Hardly accurate at all. Idk why they have to completely bastardize the story of women warriors. The truth alone that woman earned rank and were respected is enough in of itself. But they take it to an absurd level by having woman wearing armor and leading a vanguard front line charge lol. That’s really not necessary
