  • Quick and detailed walk-through of rebuilding my '87 F150 power steering pump using a Gates rebuild kit. This is NOT the Saginaw pump that people commonly swap on these trucks. If you have any questions/comments/concerns please ask them below!

    Excellent videos on the tear down and rebuild. Curious though, is the c clamp a required tool or just makes it easier?

      You need something to compress the assembly to clear the ring for the snap ring, C-clamp was the only tool I had to do so lol

    So, good video. However, it looks like you didn't install the o-ring for the disk spring.
    (Need to service a PS pump on an '85 Merc)

      Are you referring to the one at 2:14? I added it to the lower plate, could go onto the pump housing too ontop of the disc spring. Manual showed installing them in the lower plate first so I followed it
