    Huh? Do people on sports media ever research things before they say them?

    • @MwKShield1
      @MwKShield1 7 месяцев назад +1

      The tackles did fine this year. Taylor, even with those ridiculous targeted penalties and some actual holds, played 10 times better than Andrew Wylie and Donavon Smith did fine but was clearly not as spry as he was when he was in Tampa. Wanya Morris will be the starter if not next year the year after. He did just fine when he filled in for Smith. I could see KC try and go after a Tyron Smith who could be looking to chase a ring for LT but Jawaan Taylor is going to be the Chiefs starting RT next year. Chiefs will resign as many guys as they can this off-season and build through the draft like they have been. KC could easily resign Chris Jones and Sneed with some roster moves like cutting MVS, trading Toney, trading/cutting/extending Justin Reid, or restructuring contracts like Travis Kelce and Mahomes by giving them restructure bonuses to free up cap. Veach is the best GM in football and is a wizard with the salary cap. I have full faith in him

      OL and WRs are plenty in the draft this year.

    The Chiefs have been the best team in the NFL at roster building while your QB is on a 2nd contract and the cap hit has kicked in. Veach pulled off one of the best trades since Hershel Walker in the Tyreek deal. They completely flipped a defense in two seasons! Now it’s the best in the league while also being the youngest. Mahomes contract gives them the flexibility to convert a massive chunk into roster bonus this off season. They could free up 26-27M in cap. If Sneed and Jones will take less than absolute top of market they can bring back both and sign a veteran like Mike Evans. Tag and trade of Jones is also an option if they can’t agree on a contract.

    To be fair there are legitimate "sacrifices" they can make to keep both Jones and Sneed. Obviously they will cut MVS to save 12m. They can rework Mahomes and Kelce to free up another 10-12m without too much down the road problems. If they cut or trade Thuney it will save 15m or so. I think it is pretty clear you can get a player of 90% Thuney in the 1st or 2nd rnd of the draft before you could get a DT that is 90% of Jones. If they do it right they could still sign a 15m or so per yr WR as well.

    I think in a situation like this when you want to achieve a 3 peat you might have to bite the bullet and pay him more you need to have "impact players" on the opposite side of the ball because we already know Patrick is going to handle business on the offensive side but when he's not on the field I need a veteran impact player who can galvanize the defense and understands the situation that we are in and hold it down until Patrick can finish them off

    The Chiefs will restructure Mahomes contract and cut MVS which will open about $45M in cap space which with their already $20M in Cap space the choice they will really then have is should they resign Chris Jones resign a couple guys (tranquil in particular) and get a decent WR with potentially a tackle or they could resign Sneed and get potentially Mike Evan’s or Tee Higgins but draft a tackle and a DT. I’d personally resign Jones and trust Veach to get a good CB late in the draft (which he’s done repeatedly).

    So happy the team knows what's it's doing. unlike the chiefs fans in the comments. Jones has won 3 Superbowls now. I'm thankful for what he's provided for the team. They are going to pay him, the team will win another ring, and these "fans" will pretend it was their idea all long. I've never been more proud of my team and at the same time, these cheap chiefs "fans", have never made me more embarrassed to be born and raised in KC.

    If Jones fights for all the money again this year, they will not sign him. They may end up trading him for a bunch of picks. What do you think they did with Hill. Couldn't believe they traded him and since then they have won 2 Superbowls. Yes, would be great if he doesn't insist on a huge guarantee...but he didn't last year. And everyone knows he is the best DT and some teams are gonna offer him like 100M guaranteed to get him and the Chiefs can't match that

      A lot of that wasn't about money but about longer-term certainty. He's always said he wanted to stay with the Chiefs but wasn't given any assurances about his future. Plus his agents are terrible and advised him poorly. Chris is also more important to the culture and leadership of the team than Tyreek ever was (who whinged that Travis was Mahomes' #1 target and closer friend, LOL.).

    Chiefs won't keep Jones. Humphrey, Trey Smith, Sneed, Bolton, Pacheco, Mcduffie... just to name a few guys who are on rookie deals which will need to be paid in the next couple seasons. Chiefs cant afford to break the bank on Chris Jones, who has made it obvious through both his previous contract negotiation, and the one last offseason, that he will hold out and be a distraction, and he will not take the home town discount. He's also about to be on the wrong side of 30 next season with all those young guys needing to get paid. They are a better investment than Jones at this point.
    Not to take away from how important Jones was for us in the superbowl, but im gonna put it like this. Its a team sport. With only Jones our defenses were mediocre. In week 1 our defense with all our talented rookies but without Jones, played a solid game, and we only lost because of offensive turnovers and drops. We will need to continue to draft well, but we will be fine without Jones.
    Jones would do himself a favor to have a chat with Tyreek Hill... Who also wanted the whole bag, and now seems to have regrets that maybe the rings were more important than the extra couple $Mil afterall...
