      Agreement of both sides is the best way for sure....which means nobody has to be hurt...and that typically is what civilised people should do. The problem is, an agreement will mean the TPLF has to stay as a party...and that means all the cancerous officials of high tanks to the lowest have to stay...and that means...the whole thing is coming back to square one. Eritrea will never sleep, Ethiopia will never sleep... The TPLF are not ones ready for negotiation... They are reckless...as much as I hate to see any war of any sort...I believe clearing away the TPLF as a party will be a turning point to Ethiopia and the neighbors.

      Not that neutral, she left out a lot. Like the truth being that Tigray's government had been closely watching Abiy Ahmed's and Eritrea dictator Isaias Afwerki's repeated meetings and military maneuvering of troops and had to preemptively strike when they were about to be attacked/ambushed from all sides by Eritrea and Ethiopia's federal government.

    • @icethethrees
      @icethethrees 3 года назад +3

      And reposting someone else's in-depth related comment: I am writing this to inform you that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali of Ethiopia has taken the unprecedented decision to declare war on Tigray, a regional state of the Federation. The prime minister said the move was taken in response to an "attack" on federal forces in the region. We would like to say that this was nothing more than a pretext to trigger an unconstitutional military intervention in retaliation for the elections that took place in Tigray earlier this year. We would particularly like to draw your attention to several incidents which serve to establish that Prime Minister Abiy sought an opportunity to take such an act to eliminate the only viable political opposition group that remains in the country after more than two years of difficult leadership. .
      1. Ahead of the regional elections, held in September, Prime Minister Abiy warned that if Tigray goes ahead with the elections, he will take action that will lead to destruction and make mothers cry. 2. Following the election, the federal government led by Prime Minister Abiy took a series of extraordinary measures, including cutting federal budget grants, banning SafetyNet grants, and medical masks from reaching the public. farmers and children of Tigray, as well as the attempt to exclude Tigrayan athletes from participation at national sports championships.
      3. At the end of last week, the Federal Defense Forces were suddenly and without explanation removed from the troubled western part of the country, exposing civilians to attacks by unknown forces and leading to the indiscriminate slaughter of many people. Government officials and the media blamed the party attack on the Tigray (Tigray People's Liberation Front) government in the hours following the attacks and without any credible investigation attempt.
      4. On November 3, the President of Tigray Regional State, Dr Debretsion Gebremichael, gave a press conference, sounding the alarm that the Ethiopian defense forces had been put on high alert for no discernible reason. . He also noted that President Isaias Afeworki of Eritrea was heading towards the Ethiopian border, which concerns Tigray.
      Finally, very early in the morning of November 4, the Federal Defense Forces began an unprovoked act of war. At the same time, all internet infrastructure, telephone lines, electricity and water were cut, in violation of the very basic human rights of the inhabitants of Tigray. A propaganda war, deploying dehumanizing and other labels, has also been deployed, exposing hundreds of thousands of Tigrayans - ethnic minorities outside the region - to great risk of attack and genocide.
      We, concerned Tigrayans in the diaspora, therefore ask you to express your concerns, to call for the cessation of all military activities, to demand the resumption of all services to the people of Tigray and to call for a national dialogue. immediate and inclusive.

      @@icethethrees It is amusing to see how people react when they tell the truth. What she reported is accurate and unbiased. Despite we share so much commonality between Eritrea and Tigray in fact even blood. Isayas himself is half from Tigray however, TPLF have checked holder us for over 20 years out people dispersed and lost across the sea and Sahara. Nevertheless Abiy reached for peace and dialogue plus accepted the Algers treaty. However TPLF regime wanted a state of war with Eritrea for what reason? I am an Ethiopian, and I live in Addis. You can ask me anything. In the meantime, I can tell you that both Abiy and the TPLF don't care for the people. Both are incredibly corrupt, and only seek to enrich themselves and their friends. For 27 years the TPLF ruled with totalitarianism, indoctrinating young people into their ideology as they stripped the land and its people of their wealth, and concentrated it into the hands of the few. The ostentatious show of wealth visible in Bole Area of Addis (an affluent area) is clear to see. Of course, there has been a slow and gradual improvement of the lives of ordinary citizens. And food security in times of disasters had improved significantly. But more importantly, in those 27 years of rule, the TPLF systematically divided up the people into ethnic lines, gas-lighting regional conflict, and all manners of human right abuses ( I should know, I wrote my thesis on it - and the neo-liberals in Washington and the EU funded it with billions of dollars every year). And this includes heinous activities in the country of Somalia. And since the cosmetic shift of power in 2018, that led to Abiy taking power., other than changing personal with Ormoo people instead of Tigrians, transformative changes hadn't occurred. The status quo has been fully preserved with Abiy's government. The people continue to suffer, as the government continues to accumulate wealth. And it has been exceptionally hard for the people during the pandemic. What is even worse however is, Abiy is a neo-liberal. His only intention is open the country to foreign corporates and make deals while the gap between the rich and the poor widens more. This whole conflict is nothing but a play on the egos of men who have no interest in doing the right thing for the people.

      @@jide5342 Not necessary. He has nothing particularly against those people. The problem is the ruling party in the region. As you are aware, they simply want power in their region. The old guard has retreated back to their stronghold, and were in essence casing chaos and conflicts in other regions. I agree this has to stop, but Abiy is not necessary the hero in this. He had two years to bring a consensus and binding agreements, and real constitutional discussions should have happened in the house. But unfortunately, they never took the needs of the people as a priority. One is the postponement of the elections, and the reasons given as to why (if you would see Addis today you'll understand - everything is open). Secondly, there hasn't been referendum on a any issues at all. Such a divided country, but the narrative that they talk about is disconnected from the reality of the lives of the people.
