Sudan has witnessed many political coups. The country has also been at the centre of geopolitics owing to its geographical location. It borders the Red Sea where the US, UK fears the potential of a Russian base on Red Sea. Many major geopolitical powers, including Russia, the US, Saudi Arabia,Egypt,Qatar, and the UAE, have been trying to get influence over Sudan. Sudan’s strategic location and agricultural wealth have even attracted regional players. The UAE and Saudi managed to gain influence over Sudan by forming a ‘Quad’ alliance with the US and Britain. The UAE and Saudi Arabia took advantage of the revolutionary uprising of 2018-19 to bring Sudan under their influence. During the uprising, these two nations supported the Army and Paramilitary under the guise of ‘stability’, which resulted in replacement of Al Bashir as a ruler. UAE injected about $7 billion in Sudan’s economy. Both the UAE and Saudi initially had suspicion over Bashir’s intention as he was balancing ties with the UAE, Saudi and Qatar, Tehran. He used to receive subsidies from the UAE and loans from Qatar. Later, the UAE realised this and halted fuel shipments to Sudan which resulted in shortage of foreign exchange, landing the country in an economic turmoil. Bashir cut subsidies on bread, followed by demonstrations, which later became the Sudanese revolution. During the revolution, Egypt offered exile to Bashir in Saudi Arabia, but he refused, after which three countries (Egypt, UAE, Saudi) reportedly reached out to Abdelfattah Al-Burhan - a military general who had a great equation with three nations and served in Saudi-led forces in Yemen - and Hemedti, the head of Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), for the coup. A few days later, forces led by Burhan and Hemedti overthrew dictator ruler Bashir and installed the Transitional Military Council (TMC). A power-sharing agreement was signed and Burhan, the head of the TMC, was made the head of the sovereignty council and de facto head for the next 21 months, while Hemedti became the deputy head of the council. However, now Burhan’s Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Hemedti’s RSF are battling for supremacy, leading to the violence in Sudan.

Anyway, the black Sudanese had better figure it out quickly if they don't want to spend the next 400 years in slavery like African Americans did or lose their whole country like what happened to native Americans. The tragic thing is that, the rest of the world is forcing Africans to run a modern day structure of a country with institutions which is something that does not align with the way we live. The 54 African countries have either collapsed or are on the verge of a collapse. The world should leave Africans alone, let them run their villages along tribal settings and regress to how they lived hundreds of years ago. These endless wars in africa is a struggle to go back to how we lived before the coming of the colonialists.
@@sanfriday6667 I apologise as I wanted to write something nasty. I am from Mozambique and we are going through some things here…since 2017, and there is lack of reporting about what is going on here. Maybe because we are a Portuguese speaking country. I don’t know… But I agree with you! Africa has to find the the right solutions for us and that fit us. That is the only way to guarantee the long term solution!
Make no sense, these wars are a regress to old times of tribal wars, you see a past that never existed, the real past was with tribal wars, many years of famine, high infant mortality, everyday struggle for food, low density of population, les then a 1/10 of today and without internet and electricity or other amenities of modern world.
Can't we aim those two particular ?! Establishing a disarmed state exchanging their weapons for gold. Destroying the weapons!!! Reduce the army budget ! Focusing on their happiness! It's sad for a rich country to get this low.
Something I'm curious about is what keeps this war going? Id there a part of the population that supports either side of the conflict? Cuz to me it just seems like 2 generals fighting over control. And normally wars only happen when the people are fueled with hatred or when the people take sides
5:03 “Links to Darfur have remained strong. They’re aligned with local Arab militias there, & the RSF control many goldmines…in Darfur the army seems to have retreated…”
What is the purpose of the war then. The amount spent on food donations is enough to build the farm land of the nation, making life comfortable for all the Sudanese
I feel so sorry to see the poor dog at 2:57. It's wandering disoriented and hungry as this civil war gets worse in Khartoum. I wonder how many dogs like it must be facing the same hardship in Khartoum and Ondourman now.

Why the total lack of morals amongst the soldiers of the two sides?
Godlessness

@@Danimarcapital I'm a Ghanaian, and ghana is no better.
Make no sense, these wars are a regress to old times of tribal wars, you see a past that never existed, the real past was with tribal wars, many years of famine, high infant mortality, everyday struggle for food, low density of population, les then a 1/10 of today and without internet and electricity or other amenities of modern world.
very good report, Who is arming these criminals?
Can't we aim those two particular ?! Establishing a disarmed state exchanging their weapons for gold. Destroying the weapons!!! Reduce the army budget ! Focusing on their happiness! It's sad for a rich country to get this low.
Al Jazeera English is the only international news channel I trust.
you're a fool for relying on one source of news.
JUSTICE FOR THE LAND MANIPUR TOO.🙏
Meiteis, Kukis & Nagas tribes at loggerhead for the last 75 yrs.
And there was an African delegation to Ukraine. Africa has zero leaders. Ruto, Museveni, Ramaphosa and Kagame should feel shame… SMH
Orphan children dying of starvation and illness and your focus is on a dog, standard pet culture mentality in the West

The God of karma catching up to them. The janjaweed massacred and killed many south Sudanese. Now they face the evil they metted on people.
Since when did Jennifer Connolly start working for AJ?
Two men refused to see reason and now some are calling on the world to donate. Isn't that silly? Soon we have Sudan refugees wanting to move to Europe.
If these two politicians want to fight why don’t they fight away from civilians. They are both wicked and evil
how come this war is not in the media like Gaza?
The African league needs to show it has influence and stop African people killing each other.
Can’t stop radical islamists
