Not really... I went back to verizon a couple days ago to compare my v30 screen against the display model and two more brand new, in the box V30s and they all had screen uniformity issues. I still like the phone despite that issue, but it's a persistent issue nonetheless. Btw, my wife has the note 8 and it's nothing short of amazing. I just want that Quad dac and 120 degree camera that bad to not get a Note 8 like her. It being cheaper helps too ($840 vs $960 - promotions values are comparable V30 gets $200 visa gift card and Daydream VR... Note 8 gets $150 costco card, charging bundle + 360 camera *or* 128gb sd and wireless pad).
the way he edited the scratching sound while he is speaking is so annoying and hilarious 3:39 ...amazing how he keeps his videos serious and practical, yet funny and sometimes hilarious...great video.
Pretty freaking awesome!! I've been a Samsung user over the years but since the V20, LG has sold me on their phones. And now the V30 is an even better and more solid phone. Definitely gonna be using this one as my daily driver. Thanks again Zach for bringing us awesome insight on projects and new tech.
iMiguelAOG except that the note 8 costs a staggering 25% more than the V30 or the S8+ which makes no sense (the S8 can't be compared, is a different category)
Maybe I'm not dealing with a flame mark on the display, but it's good to know the technology of the screen and the resistance under the flame for repair technicians like me, when we need to take apart and separate the screen with a heat gun, it's important to not apply too much hot air to these screens or it turn the pixels to white forever, and you test it's useful in that cases...
@@siddharthkataria4323 I've experienced a few freezes and stuff after 10 months of using mine. Nothing too bad but could be better. But considering the price has dropped a ton I'd say it's worth it.
i know this is off topic, but i really think you deserve more subs, all your videos are so clean and professionally looking, you always learn something from them be it a life lesson or something about the project you are working on. Keep it up!
I bought 2 day one, one for me one for my wife. I ended up breaking the screen of mine so I changed to Sony for a while and now I have a v60. My wife still has her day one v30 and refuses to change it because it still works like a charm. I just upgraded her sd card because she was running out of memory.
@1:30 "or if you are around a bank robber" I don't think the speaker grill would be my primary concern if I was around a bank robber with this device. I'm guessing they'd rather drop the money and take the phone instead seeing as it's most likely worth more in 2017.
Thank you for all of those durability tests. Recently I got an LG V30 and I must say that it's the best phone I ever owned. Besides my own choices, this video influnced my final desision.
You're like the "Consumer Reports" of YT. Nicely done. Very insightful review with loads of helpful information to a broad cross-section of end users. Thanks.
Yeah well LG too is removing useful features just like everyone else. V30's predecessor - the V20 has an IR blaster and removable battery. Might not be important features for most, but for me that was a dealbreakker on V30's part and I got the previous version instead
IR blaster while extremely useful, is not exactly a tool that many people use anyway. Besides, their decision to not use removable battery is a trade off for having water resistant feature. Technically the battery is still removable, but will be much harder because they had to seal the body from any gap where water can pour in. I'd honestly prefer this water resistant feature than a removable battery. Had to fix my V20 screen because accidental water splash.
I wanted to purchase V30 but because of late release, settled with note 8. Lg makes good devices but their idiotic strategies and price drops are the reason for their current situation in market
Really? What's with all the people that can't wait a few weeks to buy the phone they want? "I bought a phone I didn't really want because I couldn't wait for the one I really want" well ok. Note 8 is nice and all, but if you really want the V30 for the features, I don't see a problem waiting a few weeks.
Alexander Nikolis you forgot another important point he pointed. In India G6 was launched at 55k and now it's selling for 33k!.. That's massive price drop for any flagship... How many weeks you want to wait to see if price drop will launch on V30?.
Interesting results you got. For me I just picked this phone up yesterday and it has already spontaneously cracked the back just from being in my pocket. I found several other people complaining about spontaneously cracking displays camera lenses and backs all over the internet
I'd love to see more drop test videos, especially with the new trend of having glass & metal bodies. It would also be cool to see a water damage test here and there, especially for the devices that claim to have resistance. Always enjoy the videos, man. Look forward to seeing some more durability tests soon!
Themadbird i have the note8 right now it's almost perfect. it only need 2 things to be perfect for me 1- stereo speakers 2- undr screen finger print scanner maybe the s9 or the note9 will have that
Was looking for this comment. LED displays are actually LCD display with the panel being illuminated by LEDs which is pretty different from OLED display which produce its own light and this does results in deep black, unlike led displays
Thanks for this. I'm a bank robber... Well, a part ti... Well I moon light as an apprentice bank robber. Ok damnit. Fine. I once got a free Coke from a vending machine on accident. Either way, thanks for this video. That is all.
JerryRigEverything - Thanks for the video Zack! The video definitely helped reaffirm my purchase decision. Just gotta remember to be careful with the fingerprint sensor.
If I hadn't already upgraded to a OnePlus 5, I'd get this phone. Only thing I don't really like is the software. OxygenOS in comparison is so nice with it's stock feel.
definitely Lg V30 is the right one to pick bro.. still a headphone jack with Quad dack for enhanced audio experience + POled Fullvision display with 18/9 aspect ratio + 16 mp main shooter with 1.6 aperture (largest as of now n exclusive to V30) + Wide angle camera (which is more useful than what others like google n samsung offer) + durable build quality (proved in this video) + IP68 water n dust resistance + Military grade Certification and many other essentials like latest processor, decent battery life etc. its a perfect choice for content creators. It meets all the requirements of a flagship smartphone.
Andrew Whiteman That's for the Pixel 2, not the 2 XL. The 2 was made by HTC, the 2XL was made by LG, so the 2 XL might fare better than the regular Pixel 2 in his video.
I agree with Zack. I am really glad that LG & Samsung are still keeping the "Useful Features". Hopefully they keep it up and i will continue to buy their products. However LG needs to make a competition to the Note. The V30 is Basically a good contender for the S8 and S8 Plus. Ill take a 6.3in screen over a tiny 6in screen anyway. Otherwise the v30 is great and worth considering.
Good to see u back wid d videos.... Luvd dis video.... It would be great to see Sony Xperia XZ1 durability test on your channel... Hoping to see it very soon 😎
hjchamp04 Ahh, good point. That died with the G5/V20 if memory serves. Didn't Samsung, Apple, and Google already get rid of that on their product line like 2 generations ago?
Very durable phone in my experience. The amount of times it dropped on its face is pretty high by now and no real damage was made. It feels extremely solid, nothing bends. Only scratches are created a bit too easy, I have a big one on the back and I don't know where it came from, it was created even before I started to carry the phone with me. But otherwise no complaints, very high quality phone and the only one at the time with at least some move towards quality audio. Not the first time LG managed to make me buy something from them because they were the only ones to have a certain feature and only ones to have all desired features in one. I really like them, they are kind of the sweet spot between smaller/ambitious/innovative manufacturer and big corporation with all the money for development of wide range of products in different markets, many of which are unique or outstanding is some way.
I was happy to hold out and pick this phone up on day one. It's a great phone. I'll remember not to roast mine in fire, or scratch up the fingerprint scanner. More than likely, this will serve well for many years to come.
Great video Zack, as always 👍🏻

But sony is pretty good this year.
I'm using an S8+, but the iPhone 8+ is Stronger than the S8 or the V30, and it's a Fact, Benchmarks never lie.
