Love this phone.
I just bought the V35 for $300 on Amazon, brand new too. Pretty much an upgraded version of the V30 w/SD845, 2 16MP cameras instead of a 13MP camera, and 6GB of RAM instead of the usual 4GB.

ace7926 I loved the V10 but man oh man the bootloop issues killed it. Myself and two other people I personally know had it happen to them not to mention hundreds of others. But the V20 has been great on that end and LG is starting to build a much better reputation for themselves going forward.

Not underrated but under appreciated. For a reason (Bootloops, LCD display). The V30 is looking to change that and I definitely agree.

BTW....I ordered I have had the Note 3, currently the Note 5 and ordered the Note 8. WAY underimpressed with the Note 8 and mostly because I don't want any stickin' AI on my Android phone. Bixby was a total PIA for guy like me. So, I thought I was going to go with the new Sony XZ1 Compact but just don't have the cash out-lay. As a photog, I think I am going to be stoked by this phone.

So let me get this straight. This phone has a minimal bezel design, ip68 water resistance, expandable storage, qhd oled screen, fast charging with USB C, and new well designed dual cameras, wireless charging, a HEADPHONE jack and a near to stock android experience. LG take my money!!

It's closer to the opposite of opposite actually. It's still skinned, but barely and color choices aren't what slows down the ui anyway. That's bloatware. The biggest concern with skinned android is speed/fluidity , but as he mentions in the video it's extremely fast and fluid.

I have a V20 and I hate how under the radar the LG phones are, people never know which phone i have, and are like "why haven't i heard of this phone" when I show them all the cool features like the dual cameras, the second screen, the perfectly placed finger print scanner..... I wish LG had more time in the spotlight and hate how people love apple, when really Apple just steals ideas from Samsung and other companies, and puts a giant price tag on their products.
V30 will help change that.

Had mine for a year now. No complaints apart from the glass back panel instead of plastic. I dropped mine a couple of time and need a replacement. But that's standard now. Camera, screen, sound quality and os intiuitivity are way above other flagships from last year. I will probably buy another one when I break it beyond repair.

@@alistergoh9744 I've got no problems with the battery even with all networks constantly on, cause I've got a wireless charger at work and a second one at home. I used to run out of juice with my previous phone, cause if I had to unplug it for each call, then I often didn't plug it back in. And I sometimes didn't plug in before going to bed, cause I was too tired to care. With a wireless pod it's just constantly charging. The battery itself lasts a day I guess (with WiFI, bluetooth and NFC on).
There's one annoying thing: there are three sound modes: loud -> vibrate -> silent (no call/text signalling). If I want to go from vibrate to loud, then I need to go through silent and I often tap a bit too quickly and end up in silent and miss calls. This silent mode should be a whole separate thing and have a warning pop up in my opinion.
The phone is also much too big for my liking. But that's a standard now. I wish someone made a phone like this with a 5" screen but no one does.
Other than that I think Samsung sponsored the early negative reviews, cause they had all these pink screens on every other S8 and the V30 is pretty much flawless.

you wont regret it, picked one up a few days ago to replace my shitty S7 Edge and im happy to say this is the best phone ive ever had.
Korey Miller I agree about shity S7 edge. My wife get dead pixel in that phone after 6 months. Month after that the phone screen get small crack line on the edge of the screen out of nowhere. The phone had case and screen protection.
Yeah i got the dead pixel line and then the screen just stopped turning on.
Supr mun Lg did great job with both Lg G6 and Lg V30. They also give 2 years of no cost limited warranty. With great cameras, loud speakers, great display and other great features i think this phone is no brainer one of the best flagship on the market. Its also cheaper than iPhone 8 and Samsung Note 8.

ILoveMobileTech currently have the v20 and i love it except that it's not as durable as the v10 or the galaxy phones but overall best phone I've had since i got the v10 at launch. And I've had a lot. Definitely gonna skip samsung entirely this year and get the v30

This phone has a beautiful screen and design. With a good set of heaphones, the DAC is amazing. I still keep one of these as a dedicated music player in 2022.

Now all it needs is a built in kickstand (like the Photon 4g back in 2010), with a special theme for kickstand mode including kickstand option options. And a built in stylus, just like the Notes.
So I got the V20 after the Note 7 debacle. Trust me when I tell you the bugs are awful. Maybe it will be improved on the V30. I'm accustomed to phones lagging after a while I've owned all the Notes... But this V20 is trash. I love the hifi quad DAC and the dual screen but I can't wait to get back to Sammy. Just my opinion

+Reggiehil Owner of dual sim variant V20 since Feb. 2017. Honestly, its the "best" phone for me ever as it ticks pretty much every box I want [except BB style physical keyboard].
I have heard some folks complain about "LG lag" but honest to god...my phone runs as buttery smooth today as it did 7 months ago so...Non-rooted H990N variant running Nova Launcher 4.x pro. YMMV...And I ain't the only one in the world to experience such happy sailing.
This new V30 does indeed look awesome, but I need that dual sim and removable battery so I am a bit sad. Possibly usual model fragmentation from LG so a dual-sim Euro/Asia model prolly in the works but looking like the removable battery thing is gone....VERY SAD...Though, yes, with quick and wireless charging, that may be less of an issue for me personally as time goes on.

Basically a phone that has everything people asked for this year but im guessing people will still find something to bitch about. Like 100%.
Headphone jack(with Quad DAC). Check. Big screen, small bezels. Check. Wireless charging. Check. Water resistant. Check. What looks to be a REALLY good camera. Check. Fingerprint scanner in a reasonable location. Check. Battery life..TBD.. but seems like it should be decent to good at least based on specs. I can't find anything to complain about. I don't need a new phone, but dang every time I watch a video on it I want this phone!
I asked for a removable battery and smaller size. Still, no other phones offer those either...
With small bezels it's really not that big of a phone overall. I haven't had a removable battery in a phone in so long I don't even think about it anymore. I know some people like it.
Why would you even want to remove the battery in 2017? I literally don't see any reason an average consumer needs to remove a battery.. There is no need to replace a battery unless you plan to use the phone for like 5 or more years, which most people today don't.

Karthik Sankaran Using an extra 'hq' dac for your phone doesn't improve the audio signal. You can't bypass the smartphones dac, therefore, the external one will only really be useful for amplifying the signal for power hungry headphones
I hope this 32 bit jack on the LG becomes a trend in the smart phone world.
Deus With USB Audio, which nearly all Android phones can do now (and for the last several years) you can absolutely bypass the internal DAC.

In my opinion, the V20 isn't that far off the V30 and I prefer the look of the V20 big, masculine and was designed to handle heavy stuff. Oh and that recycled jet fighter metal body too!!!
Ill stick with my v20 the removable battery will make sure ill keep this phone for at least 4-5 years... And if v40 comes out ill buy it but will not remove the v20....

That floating phone trick just blew my freaking mind.
He was shooting straight down. I wouldn't be surprised if it was resting on an object underneath it. His hands didn't pass completely underneath it leaving space for a thin metal object to hold it up. The lighting was fantastic to hide any shadows. Either that or some great editing

Ive had both the V10 and V20 since leaving the Galaxy series. I was anxious to upgrade to the V30 for the new camera and wireless charging, which I miss from my old Galaxy, but losing the 2nd screen is a deal breaker for me. Since moving to the LG V series I have learned to love that feature above all else. Between Ok Google and my LG 2nd Screen I barely actually unlock my phone unless I'm obsessively photographing my dogs or watching RUclips while browsing Pinterest. Another favorite feature of mine is the multitasking double windows, of course.

I just really hope the Pixel XL 2 will be the same as V30 but with stock Android, obviously I'll miss the stereo front speakers from my Nexus 6P but it's good enough

I love this phone so much and let me tell you something. I was sitting on the toilet the other day with Diarrhea and vomiting when all of a sudden my phone fell out of my top pocket straight into the toilet bowl full of vomit and poos.
I washed it off with some clean running water and apart from the odd vomit and poo smell the phone works really well.

Have you ever seen an iPhone camera. I'm not an apple fanboy but ik apple beats every Android phone while comparing their camera. V30 is phone of the year for me wayy better than one plus 5 and slightly better than note 8, s8.

KdotDot my mistake I read beast as best lolol. I'm not an iPhone fanboy but the iPhone has a lot more quality in it. iPhone is more for the people (though expensive) and Android is for the developers, but this does not happen because of the price diff of Android and Apple phones.

Ejny 315 same here. But my camera lens just cracked yesterday because I had a pen putting pressure on it. Good thing this phones parts are easy to replace.
How did it go? Had LG G5 and it was a dissapointment. Otherwise Samsung for many years. Currently on S7 Edge that I love compared to G5 when I traded it. Now thinking of Note 8 or V30. Help me decide:P

@@ayushabhishek5196 it doesn't but v30 supports one of the best gcam port which allows you to shoot pixel grade potrait from both wide and ultrawide lens.

I recently bought a used v30 that has a special clear back, new battery and paired it with a i-blason heavy duty black/clear back case from amazon and I have to say I'm in love with this phone. It well exceeds my expectations, it's hella quick and shows me even more reasons why I will continue to use android. Bravo LG 👏!
This telephone rocks, I know people that have the V 20 and I love it and if this one’s even better I can’t imagine how good it’s going to be... I have the LG G3 right now and love it and definitely looking forward to upgrading to the V 30
I think the headphone jack is good to be on the other side of the charging port. Often you want to use headphones, while charging your phone. If both ports take on side of the phone, it's harder to hold horizontally.
Matti Keski-Kohtamäki Not to mention that people using conventional headphones usually have the phone in their pocket or something, so it makes sense to have the port on top.
Actually that is what I disagree with. When the phone is in the pocket, it should be top down, easier to put in and take out.
Matti Keski-Kohtamäki Another scenario where you'd want both ports on the same side is when you have the phone in your pocket, listening to music while charging it with a powerbank. Don't know if many people do this but I have had this exact scenario a few times now.
Nah it looks bad, something you won't complain about when you're using your phone while it's plugged in the charger but it's not a huge deal
I charge my phone in my pocket with headphones in. Can't do both in pocket if they're on opposite sides.
I had a LG G3 very big fan, this may be my next purchase.

Really enjoyed your review. I did get the V30 and am very impressed. I’ve been in the iPhone system for years but added this phone and I can’t put it down. I’m rediscovering android. This phone is very fast with amazing sound and I really like the display. Watching Netflix is better than my Samsung 4K and I’m really looking forward to getting my Daydream VR.
