So they’re horribly endangered but a small positive is at least what’s left won’t be poached. I just hope they can be bred in captivity. Never been so grateful to be wrong. It makes me so sad to see so many animals becoming endangered and worse, extinct.
Actually recently they've just reintroduced them back to the Amazon in Brazil so hopefully they can survive in the wild and release more in the future!
The fact that this movie came out *13 YEARS AGO* and I still remember every single god damn lyrics of the songs is absolutely incredible. I remember my experience watching this movie in theaters, was very cool to be introduced to the Brazilian culture. I don't watch this movie very often but every time I do, I remember all the lyrics for the songs. Being a musical movie is what makes this so great. As a kid, this movie was one of my biggest obsessions including playing the Angry Birds Rio game in my old phone which was definitely a lot of fun

The scene where Blu and Jewel looked at the breath taking view of Rio de Janiero while "Mas Que Nada" song plays in the background makes the movie even more magical. Even Sergio Mendes, the original composer of that song, was brought on board by Blue Sky Studio as a music guru, which it's cool.
being brazilian i have such a soft spot for this movie and its sequel, the colors and the music are so vibrant and alive it perfectly represents brasil... also, carnaval in rio does look like that, but celebrations change a lot regionally!!
So, sadly Disney shut Blue Sky down in either 2021 or 2022, the last project they made was Ice Age: Scrat Tales. However the last project of theirs is technically Nimona, since the movie got picked up by Netflix after the studio shut down.

The WRONG way was making another Ice Age film (albeit poorly written with lackluster animation) with the character Buck as the lead role and releasing it directly on Disney+ The RIGHT way was Nimona. It had the storyboards, but was shut down before animation began. Then Netflix arrived and allowed it to be completed under them.

Same here. Anne’s roles in both Rio and Les Mis are phenomenal when it comes to singing. Glad she also won her Oscar with Christopher Plummer presenting the award directly to her.
It’s funny because I learned she could song from Ella Enchanted which came out the same year as Rio (as a kid, I never paid as much attention to the voice actors as I do now).

Rio 2 is not as structurally sound as this one, but I’d argue it’s actually way funnier in spots, so if you are willing to watch, I think you’ll get something out of that one too. This movie is so gorgeous. I’ve always been astounded by the animation and the colors. One of my favorite scenes is at the end when they release jewel back into the wild. It’s so simple, but the way she unfurls her wings is just so well done! I was obsessed with this soundtrack too when the movie came out.

Blue Sky was a amazing studio, Ice Age I feel was their big franchise but they did Ferdinand, Robots, Peanuts movie and Horton Hears a Who. Disney pretty much killed it when they bought 21st Century Fox. 450 employees let go

As a Minnesotan I became curious about this movie when I spotted it on a list of movies that take place here. I'd never want to live in Rio myself (way too hot! I'll keep my hot chocolate in the snow please!) but it looks like a beautiful place to visit on vacation!
Fun Fact: Disney/Pixar I can’t remember which one was supposed to release a movie called Newt that literally had the same plot as Rio about two newts who don’t like each other and end up falling for one another but then the movie went quiet and then blue sky turned around and released a movie beating them to the punch causing the film to be scrapped but there’s tons of concept art out there
Also some notes: -I like to think the “(Not Rio)” thing was supposed to be a statement about like it doesn’t matter where they are now, they’re not where they’re supposed to be -I LOVE how Linda and Tulio look similar to each other’s favorite birds to kind of solidify they’re meant to be together 💞 -the Carnival director was literally telling Linda to ‘shake it’ over and over lmfao -this movie was supposed to send a message like Bee Movie but failed because they made a second movie that completely contradicts the premise of the first one and ruins the message basically ☹️☹️☹️☹️ they are now extinct in real life I’m pretty sure💔

They weren't really all that productive during the pandemic both offline and online with Disney shutting down Nimona (in which Netflix and Annapurna saved it). All the Blue Sky rights are now belong to Disney. I still hope that they would make a third Rio movie
This is one of my favorite animated film! Absolutely love the colors and the voice cast! To answer your question Rejects, Disney absorbs Blue Sky when they purchase 20th Century Fox and it was their intention to keep it running but due to COVID and the economic impact on the company at the time Disney closed it down due to in their words no longer sustainable for them to run a third animation studio. Which is a real shame because I would have love to see a third installment of Rio! Disney still retains the studio's film library and intellectual properties!

If you like Coco and Rio you NEED to watch “Vivo” it’s probably the best of the 3 in my opinion and seeing these two react would be epic!! The story is chef’s kiss and music is top tier!!!

Actually animals of the same species do develop different accents or variations of calls depending on the location. One major example of this would be Mexican Eyeless cave tetra in their natural habitat, they’ve developed a clicking form of communication to identify themselves and members of their school have the same accent. In the rainy season the caves flood connecting various caverns within the cave and many different cave tetra schools from different caverns can then cross paths and mingle but when the water level goes back down they are able to reorganize themselves by dialect to find their school. Then they return to their cavern where they will once again be cut off from the other schools until the cave floods again.
