This movie does so many things right. The characters, their development, the fight choreography, the lessons, how well it depicts ancient China, it's all so great. One part I really like, and often see overlooked, is how after Po lays out his insecurities to Shifu, we see that Tigress heard the whole thing and finally started to soften up and feel sorry for him, and realized he was actually taking Kung Fu seriously, not "treating it like a joke" as she previously stated.
@@EyesTorti It's more a love letter to chinese cinema, than an actual depiction of ancient china. Accented Cinema had a great video about it, how the themes and settings don't match chinese stories at all, but it's still beloved in china because it just oozes passion for the movies that inspired it.

The reason the Furious Five were chosen to be those specific animals is because those are the five animal 'styles' that a certain form of Kung Fu are modeled after. Tiger style, Crane style, etc. Po's style is a mixture of their styles, as well as other things like Drunken Fist.
You ever read the book series “the five ancestors”?? It’s based on ancient animal style kung fu. I think these movies took inspiration right from them. Even the bad guys are super similar

Well. Nobody seemed to stop Tai Lung from opening the scroll. Oogway only stopped him TEMPORARILY. But after that, not the guards, not the furious five, not Shifu, and most definitely not Po as Tai Lung clearly pinned him down and took the scroll and opened it. He BELIEVED in himself that he was destined to be the dragon warrior. But at the end when he saw it was blank (not to mention he said "NOTHING" to the reflection) his hopes and dream were shattered to pieces, he didn't understand the message. Its like his whole purpose in life was just to become to the dragon warrior, and Shifu encouraged him, filling his head with dreams. Driving him to train like crazy. But at the end, he didnt understand the message and started to lose hope as he lashed out on Po. Before Tai Lung even touched the scroll, he still had high hopes and believed that he can do it. Even after 20 years of being paralysed, he could not forget that one role, not to mention letting it go. But sadly he didnt understand the message. I think Po was trying to make Tai Lung redeem himself when he saw the scroll, but Po did not make a clear statement that all he had to do was believe in himself. Po did not straight up explained. He only said "there is no secret ingredient" just like what his father told him. But Tai Lung still couldn't understand it.
The problem is that Tai Lung wanted the status of being the chosen Dragon Warrior but with the reveal that the scroll doesn't really confer any sort of status or power one doesn't already have, he never would have been satisfied even if it had been explained to him properly. He wanted to feel extra special from being the Dragon Warrior but the Dragon Warrior can never be more special than they already were before they were chosen.
@@vadalia3860 What Po should have said was "The Dragon Scroll is not what makes you the Dragon Warrior, you become the Dragon Warrior to claim the Dragon Scroll... the Scroll then shows a reflection of the one who earned it, revealing the true Dragon Warrior" But Po wasn't really known for being the sharpest tool in the shed lol
Its funny you mentioned the different ways the furious five move with regards to their physicality - since each animal is actually meant to represent a different martial arts style! So many good details in this movie.
I love the whole scene of Po being chosen. While the 5 were showing their kung fu skills, Po was showing his love for Kung Fu, through persistence. Even though oogway didn't see everything Po was trying to do, it's still like that's why he was chosen.
This for sure one of my fav animated movies of all time! The quote "The past is history, the future is a mystery, but tdy is a gift that is why it is called a gift", have been a huge part of my life. I can watch this movie infinite times.

This movie had no right being as freaking awesome as it is. The camera work, the style, the absolute artistry at work is insane. I couldn’t be happier that I grew up with this movie, it’s just so good with a great message to everyone
this movie is SO integral to my childhood can’t imagine what my childhood would be like without it I highly recommend watching the sequels this is overall an incredible trilogy
Mad respect to knowing the old Peking Opera heroes. Wheels on Meals is amazing. The trio of Jackie Chan, Samo Hung, and Yuen Baio. I wouldn’t be mad if y’all did reactions to old Kung Fu movies. Iron Butterly and Sword, the Executioners, Project A, Armor of the Gods, the Storm Riders.
I cannot WAIT for the next movie reactions, you will have so many questions answered and the villains and the conflict continually get more and more personal. One of my favorite animated properties 😊
God the music from Hans Zimmer throughout the trilogy is just an emotional punch 👌 watching these movies as a Chinese it just feels so…fucking good man
@Christopher Azzato bro I recently rewatched it and holy it’s dark af like Gary Oldman is just gold, also the music during the flashback of Po’s childhood and the ending got me teared up good, can’t wait for the 4th one
@@madtitan0825 yeahh the montage song "po finds the truth" / an alternate version of the "sacred pool of tears" song. SO GOOD. My second favourite was the end when po's dad finds out he's alive, "my fist hungers for justice" that song is also beautiful and impactful. love hans zimmer and john powell. im a chinese too and im so happy about the representation
So happy you guys watched this! One of the cool things about this movie, other than the furious five, along with Tai Lung, being the animals of kung fu, but that this movie can be seen as a conflict of philosophy (Taoism and Confusism), rather than a conflict of kung fu.
In case you didn’t know, six of the main styles of kung fu in Asian culture are crane, mantis, monkey, tiger, snake, and dragon style. And all of the characters use their appropriate style in this film. Also, you absolutely have to watch the rest of the movies. The second one is my favorite and is quite possibly one of the best films DreamWorks has ever made.
Nice how you talked about the diferent fighting styles for each animal, cause theres an extra short film about how shifu was trying to teach tigress his fighting style, wich obviously wasnt working for her, so oogway did some stuff to put her in a situation where she was forced to create her own fighting style
DreamWorks is so criminally underrated. The Shrek franchise, Kung Fu Panda trilogy, How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, Megamind, Over the Hedge, Bee Movie, The Croods, Monsters vs. Aliens, Madagascar trilogy, Chicken Run, Trolls, Boss Baby, and so on.
A cool fact you might also find interesting: When Shifu (the Dustin Hoffman character) is first introduced, he plays the flute. The tune that he plays is Tai-Lung’s theme.
I love that you caught onto the fact that shi fu sending a messenger to double the guard gave him a tool to escape. I also like that all of their additional security things only actually helped him escape
I love the resurgence these movies have gotten in the last few months. Seems like everyone collectively went "Oh yeah, weren't these movies awesome?" and I'm all for it.
30:10 I always think of that I’m not hungry .he’s basically saying he’s happy instead of hungry cuz he says “I EAT when I’m UPSET” then gives back the dumpling because he’s happy 🙃💭
This movie was the first ever film I saw at cinemas. It will always have a special place in my heart. And now as an adult, it still holds up so well. Also, I love how Coy said this felt like Ted Lasso 'cause I really think that show is so damn good that it has become a reference point to compare and liken other stuff to.
Man, I was absolutely obsessed with this franchise as a kid, and it wasn't until I got into wuxia dramas in my mid-20s when I finally got that magical feeling again. I love that Dreamworks starts their wacky little projects then they're able to develop a whole world and lore around then in the sequels freely, as big as Shrek was, I don't think we'd have HTTYD without Kung Fu Panda either.
@@Themandalorian935 He has for sure. Mulan as the secretary to the emperor voiced by the late Pat Morita who was of course Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Kid film series.
One thing can be said throughout the KFP trilogy - the villains are stupidly overthought and in-depth. Everytime I hear Tai Lung’s origin in the final fight I cry because it parallels the anger that “first-born” children have when negativity takes over.
Tai Lung started losing as soon as his belief in himself shattered. Its just like Oogway said to believe in yourself. All those years Tai lung was relentless, powerful and unbeatable, even when he was detained, it didn't do much to stop him, all it took was a feather. But as soon as he saw the empty scroll, his entire belief shattered, he said "its nothing" to the reflection while Po simply said "its blank", these are interesting choice of words, Tai Lung without his belief that he is the dragon warrior sees himself as nothing and that cost him his victory.
i remember watching this a thousand times back then and seeing it again now how amazing and iconic this movie is. and tai lung is really one of the best villains we've ever seen!! his escape scene from the prison is my favourite!
Just wanna point this out, Shifu translated from Chinese to English is Master. So his name is literally Master. haha! And each of the Furious Five members is a different kung-fu fighting style!
I can’t for kung fu panda 4 they just announced and it’s gonna be po finding the next dragon warrior and they’re being back his pass villains from the trilogy!!!!
'Supercop' (aka Police Story III) is one of Jackie's best movies. It also stars Michelle Yeoh in her action prime. You guys should react to it one day 🙏
Only now have I noticed that at the end of his and master shifus training arc when they fought over the dumpling when Po said he isn’t hungry it also meantime “i can fight like this without the motivation of food now.“ that was so good
Jackie Chan's language barrier was a lot bigger back in 2008. I always assumed that's why he didn't have many lines. He does have a little more lines in the sequels from what I remember. Glad you guys are reacting to these and I can't wait to see your 2 and 3 reactions
Crazy that this movie will be 15 years old in June. I remember seeing this in theaters with my mom when I was just a kid. I remember thinking while the credits rolled that this was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. I also didn’t realize how inspirational Kung Fu Fighting was, especially now that I’m in college.
I find it hard to believe that this is your first time watching this movie. It's a classic that everyone has seen. You should definitely check out the sequel, which is even better. And there's even a fourth movie coming out soon. You're in for a treat!
as i kid The 5 used to MESMERIZIE me whenever they were on screen simply for how beautifully they were animated and how well their fight scene were choreographed and executed. Crane spins, Viper quick fluid movements, Monkey's physicality & Tigress's just raw precision focused strength is just eye-porn and happens so fast you almost have to pick who you want to focus on. It's 🔥.
All 3 movies are great. Part of some of my favourite trilogies with Toy Story, Rush Hour, but Kung Fu Panda seems to hit within the feels a bit more and the best part are the villains
I think it’s so cool that all of The Furious Five use the fighting style of the animal they are! And also either at the end of this movie or the beginning of the next, we hear a line about Po’s father learning to make tofu! Meaning, he followed his dreams. Also Shifu can move a water drop at the beginning of the next movie showing that at the end of this one he has inner peace (he does say it but it’s cool set up for the next one) :)
So hard for me to decide whether I like the first or the second one more, cause they're both so amazing in their own ways. Regardless, this is one of my favorite trilogies of all time!
The animals in the movie are the following, just for future reference if you guys are confused about what they are: 1. Po is a Giant Panda 2. Tigress is a South China Tiger 3. Crane is a Red-Crowned Crane 4. Mantis is an Asian Giant Mantis 5. Viper is a Chinese Pit Viper 6. Monkey is a Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey 7. Master Shifu is a Red Panda 8. Master Oogway is an Asian Forest Tortoise 9. Tai Lung is a Snow Leopard
The Bruce Lee 2 finger push-ups sequence with Panda and Sifu was epic. You really had that whole Drunk Master montage sequence happening during the training with food being the metaphor.
Funfact: the martial arts used by the Furious 5 are based on the real live martial arts of their namesakes. Mantis style, monkey style, tiger style, etc.
Kung Fu Panda’s Trilogy has ANOTHER movie comin out! I can’t wait to see the final chapter in this long lasting franchise! This was a great reaction too! Po and Tigress are my fave characters! Along with Mantis, Snake, and Monkey, too!
I think a lot of people when they saw this movie the first time didn't care about Tai Lung as a person, which can change on a re-watch, and looking at things from a different perspective. Tai Lung is a warrior who didn't deserve the treatment he got, he grew up thinking he'd become this legendary warrior if he only trained hard enough, and was disciplined enough, to learn everything he could, plus Shifu filled his head with dreams, pushed him in training, promising him that they would all come true if he hones his skills and abilities to the very limits, but when Oogway said NO, Tai Lung's world crumbled because it turns out that he had been struggling for so many years for nothing. He was furious and must have walked to the village because he was completely lost, or else he was telling everyone before how he was going to become a Dragon Warrior, and when he didn't become what he said he would become, maybe someone in the village angered him very easily, he was on the edge of snapping out of anger when he was rejected without an explanation, he just knew he wasn't good enough in Oogway's opinion. Later he spends twenty years in prison, immobilized, he finds out that someone is good enough, and then later he finds out that someone is good enough but is not trained, and disciplined nowhere near his level, Tai Lung is even more disappointed by seeing what was chosen instead of him. Now we don't know if Tai Lung rested at all on the way to the valley, but it seemed that he didn't, and at the end of the fight when he took the scroll and found out that what he was looking for was not written on some paper as he was led to believe, his tiredness finally caught up with him, and Po used his fat to win literally, and used this crazy move which he did not deserve, what's worse, there is no explanation or hint as to why he would know how to do this, he just realized how the move works (That's what I dislike most about the movie of all things). So Po kills this tortured warrior in the end, and if you ask me, Tai Lung did not deserve such treatment, and I believe he could of gone in a better direction if anyone cared, and gave him an actual chance, but NO everything revolves around Po.
Really forgot how stunning the animation, art direction, and overall visuals are. Priceless seeing Greg and Coy boyz reactions are. Please do reaction for the other sequels
I remember my art teacher showing us this movie because the animation of the time I can't remember exactly what it was about the animation in this movie still holds up till this day I think honestly I think it's beautiful from beginning to end and master Oogway is a legend of a character rip big dawg
Please watch 2 and 3 soon! Don’t make us wait months. These movies are some of the best in modern animation and story telling. The themes and messages are so good and the animation and fighting only get better from here
I go back and forth as to whether I like the first or second movie more. Really they're both great. The third is fine, but definitely not on the same level as the other two. That said I'm VERY excited for the upcoming fourth film.

@@Entxq_ amen
Shen is one of the best villains ever. The voice acting and delivery is SO GOOD.
@@GmmBeast Gary Oldman always give 100% in his roles
So happy you guys watched this! One of the cool things about this movie, other than the furious five, along with Tai Lung, being the animals of kung fu, but that this movie can be seen as a conflict of philosophy (Taoism and Confusism), rather than a conflict of kung fu.
When I saw this video I immediately said "YOU HAVEN'T SEEN KUNG FU PANDA???" Love this movie, excited for both your reactions and perspectives
If you guys want Po's backstory definitely watch Kung Fu Panda 2, it's awesome!
You definitely have to do KFP 2!
Oogway as a character is a complete vibe he’s just completely chill
Rise Of The Guardians
Modern Disney can’t even come close to Dreamworks imo
Over the Hedge is SUPER underrated, it's not even funny. one of my favorite movies of all time and that's not an exaggeration.
Puss in Boots 2 gave their popularity a huge boost recently.
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron and The Road to El Dorado
To sum up each movie:
1. Best villain
2. Best story
3. Best soundtrack
Predictions
4. Best soundtrack
5. Best comedic moments
6. Best ending (or even Best final battle)
@@thepandorica1660 yeah the 4th one went to trash
Shen is still the better villain, despite how good Tai Lung is. Shen is just one of the best animated villains ever written
The door open when the father saw Po becoming the dragon warrior, but the door didn’t open for Po what the hell man! 😂😂😂
Mr. Ping (Goose dad) was able to get in the door easily because it was a pull door and Po was only trying to push xD
I love how Po dad is such a hustler, haha
Man, I was absolutely obsessed with this franchise as a kid, and it wasn't until I got into wuxia dramas in my mid-20s when I finally got that magical feeling again. I love that Dreamworks starts their wacky little projects then they're able to develop a whole world and lore around then in the sequels freely, as big as Shrek was, I don't think we'd have HTTYD without Kung Fu Panda either.
First Pitch Perfect and now Kung Fu Panda??? Oh goodness how many iconic movies did you miss? 😂 loving these reactions keep ‘em coming
James Hong has like 600+ acting credits. He is immortal.
He has done so much voice work
@@Themandalorian935 He has for sure. Mulan as the secretary to the emperor voiced by the late Pat Morita who was of course Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Kid film series.
I love the face Po makes when Tai Lung calls him fat. I’m surprised no one noticed this.
This was so fun to watch this with you two. Can't wait for the sequels, as sure as everyone else. Both of you Take Care & God Bless.
This is one of my top 5 animated films of all time. Right up there with Toy Story 1 and 2 as some of the best "kids animation" I've ever watched.
This movie was a staple of my childhood and I always loved it, but I never realized how stacked the cast was
Just wanna point this out, Shifu translated from Chinese to English is Master. So his name is literally Master. haha! And each of the Furious Five members is a different kung-fu fighting style!
One of the most underrated trilogy of all time
This trilogy is definitely not underrated lol everyone loves these movies
@@superelite5133 yeah the fandom loves it but there still are majority of people who haven't seen it
I can’t for kung fu panda 4 they just announced and it’s gonna be po finding the next dragon warrior and they’re being back his pass villains from the trilogy!!!!
@@The_artculture that’s true I guess I never realized that actually
4:18 Oh just you wait until Kung Fu Panda 2, it starts off as a joke but it becomes one of the most emotional and touching themes in that movie
The movies that always makes me want dumplings.
@31:53 Yup..Everyone who sees the bridge scene is left speechless. So good
4:14 I just realized that the shadow of Po's dad looks like panda 😂
'Supercop' (aka Police Story III) is one of Jackie's best movies. It also stars Michelle Yeoh in her action prime. You guys should react to it one day 🙏
Lord Chen, the villain of the sequel imho is the best Dreamworks villain. Garry O killed it
Only now have I noticed that at the end of his and master shifus training arc when they fought over the dumpling when Po said he isn’t hungry it also meantime “i can fight like this without the motivation of food now.“ that was so good
Jackie Chan's language barrier was a lot bigger back in 2008.
If you think that was good, kung fu panda 2 is among the few sequels that blasts its predecessor away on every level, it is just so good
I find it hard to believe that this is your first time watching this movie. It's a classic that everyone has seen. You should definitely check out the sequel, which is even better. And there's even a fourth movie coming out soon. You're in for a treat!
HOW HAVE YOU NOT REACTED TO THIS YET ITS A MASTERPIECE
as i kid The 5 used to MESMERIZIE me whenever they were on screen simply for how beautifully they were animated and how well their fight scene were choreographed and executed. Crane spins, Viper quick fluid movements, Monkey's physicality & Tigress's just raw precision focused strength is just eye-porn and happens so fast you almost have to pick who you want to focus on. It's 🔥.
One of the greatest movie trilogies ever made in my opinion
I always loved the message of this movie, "There is no secret ingredient, it's just you." It's so simple, but so powerful.
The animals in the movie are the following, just for future reference if you guys are confused about what they are:
1. Po is a Giant Panda
2. Tigress is a South China Tiger
3. Crane is a Red-Crowned Crane
4. Mantis is an Asian Giant Mantis
5. Viper is a Chinese Pit Viper
6. Monkey is a Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey
7. Master Shifu is a Red Panda
8. Master Oogway is an Asian Forest Tortoise
9. Tai Lung is a Snow Leopard
Michael Clarke Duncan is the voice of the prison commander.
We are DEFINITELY looking forward to the entire trilogy from you guys 🎉
The Bruce Lee 2 finger push-ups sequence with Panda and Sifu was epic. You really had that whole Drunk Master montage sequence happening during the training with food being the metaphor.
Funfact: the martial arts used by the Furious 5 are based on the real live martial arts of their namesakes. Mantis style, monkey style, tiger style, etc.
This is one of the best animated movies to ever be made and the franchise as a whole is phenomenal ❤
I love how they don’t even bother trying to explain how massive movie fans never seen one of dreamworks most popular movies.
Kung Fu Panda’s Trilogy has ANOTHER movie comin out! I can’t wait to see the final chapter in this long lasting franchise! This was a great reaction too! Po and Tigress are my fave characters! Along with Mantis, Snake, and Monkey, too!
Pretty sure there's gonna be a fifth and sixth movie
There is going to be a fifth and six movie. The creator always said they planned out six films for Kung Fu Panda. So, another set of films is coming.
Yes watch the 2nd one, it’s the best one. This series is probably in my top 3 favorite animated movie series.
So much of what master Oogway says has stuck with me, both the hilarious and the inspiring
Tai lung was so confused that he was fighting a panda that’s the best part for me “He’s a panda … You’re a panda!! “ 🤣😂😂
Love the Kung Fu panda movies .
Thx for reacting.
You guys are funny fun and entertaining.
I loved the short lived Martial Law series back in the hay days during 1998 to 2000 which was a nice blending of east meets west.
Really forgot how stunning the animation, art direction, and overall visuals are. Priceless seeing Greg and Coy boyz reactions are. Please do reaction for the other sequels
Bro it blows my mind on how so many people have not seen this gem of a trilogy 🤯
11:16 The Head Rhino Guard (Commander Vachir) is voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan (who has a very similar voice to Ving Rhames.
I remember my art teacher showing us this movie because the animation of the time I can't remember exactly what it was about the animation in this movie still holds up till this day I think honestly I think it's beautiful from beginning to end and master Oogway is a legend of a character rip big dawg
Literally in my top 5 favorite animated movies of all time, it's INCREDIBLE.
Please watch 2 and 3 soon! Don’t make us wait months. These movies are some of the best in modern animation and story telling. The themes and messages are so good and the animation and fighting only get better from here
19:13 You know he’s evil because he’s British 😂
Im also excited for the 4th movie to release. I was surprised when it was announced.
Funny how you mention the staircase scene is like John Wick 4 when Ian McShane who played Tai Lung also played Winston!
Everything about this movie is gold
Movie is a childhood classic
The last movie made this movie make so much sense it’s awesome
I go back and forth as to whether I like the first or second movie more. Really they're both great. The third is fine, but definitely not on the same level as the other two. That said I'm VERY excited for the upcoming fourth film.
The story for the fourth movie sounds really interesting
... "infinity DUMPLINGS"??? I literally screamed, never change Coy!!
