@Greg Drake This is a crazy take lol. Bad Ape is nowhere near Jar Jar level. Hes not annoying and he barely had that many moments. And the moments he did have, didn't ruin the vibe of the movie.
Caesar died the best way a leader and beloved character can die- he died saving his people in a heroic way and led them to safety before losing his energy. Looking off in the distance at the nice scenery having hope for his people - the music at the end is from the first and it’s just so sad
Rocket wasn't caesar's younger son. Blue eyes was his oldest, and Cornelius was the baby from Dawn. Rocket was the alpha from the detention center in Rise. Rocket and Maurice are Caesar's oldest and closest friends. Rocket's son, Ash, was the one that was shot in the beginning of Dawn, and later thrown off that balcony by Koba.
the level of restraint ceaser has shown through out the series is so spectacular. 1 of the many reasons to love him. Ceaser is one of the greatest characters ever created
While filming Ceasar's death in the end with Maurice was extra emotional and everyone was crying on set. Especially when both Matt Reeve's father and Andy Serkis' mother both died while filming the movie
Did you catch that Ceaser's son's name is Cornelius, that is the main ape in the original Planet of the Apes.... Loved these movies and ya'lls reactions
This movie sits in a top seat among the pantheon of perfect trilogies. There’s a lot of imagery from Biblical epics, mostly connecting to the story of the Exodus, from being adopted and raised by his future adversaries, freeing his people from oppression and slavery, to dying before being able to enter the promised land as a consequence of his own choices. This movie is an Epic. It’s actually poetic that you guys released this video the day before Passover. You could consider the virus as the angel of death passing over the apes, but effecting the humans.
I remember going to see this one in cinemas with my mum, it was a birthday present. I remember us walking out at the end in tears, pretty angry about Ceaser dying at the end. We came out shouting “we want a refund” how can they put him through all of that and he doesn’t even get to enjoy the freedom and peace that they finally have 😭 I HATE bittersweet endings
Caesar is Moses - that's why he had to die at the end. He led his people out of slavery and into the promised land and gave them their laws, but the promised land wasn't for him.
This movie is just the whole package, Terrifying, heartwarming, Funny, Intense and one of the most visually beautiful movies- this one definitely trumped the first two in that department. Caesar’s death never fails to make me tear up, it just draws you in the whole movie and you feel like your really losing someone near the end. So glad you guys reacted to this series. 😄
I love this movie so much. I really like how they go from majority human POV in the first, to very even in the second and then majority ape POV for the third. Probably my favourite film trilogy ever. Great reaction guys glad you liked them.
The ending mimics our ancestors journey from the jungles of Africa into the wide open plains. When our ape ancestors found themselves in these plains they found less trees and so had to rely on travelling on the ground much more. With the lack of trees our ancestors could no longer climb high to get a view of their environment or any potential predators/prey, so to offset this they would begin to stand on two legs more and for much longer at a time so they could get a better view of their surroundings in this environment that was new to them.
I love these movies so much!!! 'Dawn' was my favourite, but I love how this one plays with Vietnam War aesthetics to tell the story. The rogue colonel with his bald head is definitely evoking Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now (Colonel Kurtz), and at the start of the movie the human soldiers have things written on their helmets which immediately brings you back to Full Metal Jacket, which was obviously basing that on things the real GIs were doing in Vietnam. So cool that you can see the influence of a whole different genre in this movie!
@@BaddMedicine I hope you will watch it at the cinema, since your intro is a song about how you imagine what it was like...vlog it maybe? 😂😁😅😅😁😅. Haha maybe im hoping for too much but i want to see how you will feel at that time.👍🏽
Well this is news to me, I did not know that. I kind of think though that it ended in a perfect little bow in war despite Caesar’s death. I honestly don’t know how I feel about having a movie without Ceasar. I mean, I guess they can have it center around Cornelius but it’ll still be a bit lacking without our main ape.
@John Doe It would be really unrealistic for humans to actually be completely gone. I mean, we were just seeing one very small and isolated part of the world, and there were still tons of humans, even armies. And even if the disease from War for the Planet of the Apes somehow managed to infect everyone left in the world, it's not like it actually kills people, just makes them mute. I think a far more realistic scenario would be that the majority of the remaining humans are just isolated in pockets and kind of rebuilding civilization from scratch, completely unaware that apes are even "smart". And likewise, all the places in the world where apes are would be building civilizations with little to no knowledge of humans or the origin of their increased intelligence.
One of my favourite cinema trilogies. Every movie is fantastic in its own right, the performances are amazing and they're just overall fantastic stories.
I love all the Apes movies, going back to the originals but I have to say.... Bad Ape is by far my most favorite character ever!! He brings a levity to a really crappy possibility of the world. And it's just funny how he responds to everything and everyone. He's quite smart and kind in his own way
One of the greatest endings of all time and One of the best trilogies of all time. Bittersweet, tragic and beautiful at all the same time! Andy Serkis deserves an Oscar for this epic performance!
So bummed this ended but boy did I love the journey! Who knew an origin story of Planet of the Apes could pull you in so deep? Thanks for reacting to these movies, it was thrilling and I love how invested you all were in the movie!

When you go back to Rise, they mention a Mars mission that went missing. In the original move with Heston, him and his men was the Mars mission, and it was ~1000 yeas in the future.
Seeing as Caesar & Maurice were like the only two apes with sympathy for humans, I can not imagine anything good happening to the human characters in the 4th one I mean, unless Cornelius is raised with Nova as siblings? So he gives people the benefit of the doubt?
NOVA was the name of the woman in the leather bikini who helped save Charlton Heston in the original planet of the apes. Also I. The original Cornelius was the name of the chimpanzee doctor played by Roddy Mcdowall. ZIRA AND CORNELIUS were Cesar’s parents in the original. They are using the names as call backs for sure.
The final shot of Caesar's face at the end just before he dies & a tear comes down his right cheek is a callback to the ending of the fifth film "Battle for the Planet of the Apes" released in 1973 in which a tear is seen falling down the right cheek of the face of a statue of Caesar. I wonder if there will be a statue of him featured in the next film. What do you think?
1. Next to True Detective, this was Woody Harrelson's performance! 2. I'm stoked for Kingdome of the Planet of the Apes! 3. The intro and Luca's death were inspired by Star Wars 4. I think Winter was a nice nod to Snowflake, or a very esoteric nod to Tim Burton. 5. I honestly thought Rocket would die. 6. I went into this movie expecting an action epic, instead I got a biblical story, and I couldn't be happier!
I have a hard time deciding between my favourite between Dawn and War. This movie was great because Caesar's morals were really tested this time around with the killing of his wife and son. It was a great story arc for this character. All he wanted was a life of peace but the worst of both societies (Koba and the human villains) would just not let that happen. What a beautiful ending that Caesar gets his family to their Promised Land but never got to enjoy it himself. Also, Bad Ape was for me a great addition. Important to know there are likely other Apes like him that survived and will join the new Ape society.
There will be a fourth installment of this amazing series. It will be released in May 2024 titled 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' directed by Wes Ball.
Ceasar is the ultimate MAN. Saved his familie. Saved his kind. Died doing what he done since the begining. Provided the future. Provided hope, pulled through. Ultimate badass.
The composer also did the Batman and Spider-Man now way home and the director of maze runner is doing the new planet of the apes movie which gives me so much confidence it will be great
The war with McCullough’s men had gone on for 2 years, but Dawn established that 10 years had gone by since the apes had moved to the redwoods at the end of Rise, so 5 years have passed since Dawn, and the fighting has been for the last 2. Caesar’s story echos that of Moses. He’s raised by the ruling class when his blood is that of the lower (Caesar raised by humans but he’s an ape), he learns his heritage and chooses to join them instead of staying with those who raised him (Caesar choosing to stay in the primate facility), he shows them miracles (being able to speak and think like a human), helps them rise up and flee the kingdom they’re oppressed in while avoiding plagues (the apes stampeding to the redwoods in Rise as the virus starts to spread), must deal with a rebellion when his leadership is questioned (Koba’s war was sort of the golden calf), and then once he leads his people to their promised land, cannot stay with them to enjoy it himself. Don’t know how intentional it was, but Caesar was ape Moses.
If I remember correctly from the original and prior films, the humans who are enslaved in the new ape world don’t speak and so this movie was giving an explanation to why they don’t speak in the future. The virus had mutated and was causing humans to be mute and almost revert to being animals while apes progress into become more human.
I saw the Mark Wahlberg one in theaters, too. It was dreadful. So I was thrilled that this trilogy did the franchise justice. I read the book and I have the original Apes movies all on BD. Along with the documentary on the making of. I even watched the TV series. Massive fan here. Can't wait for the next one. You three did an outstanding reaction. I always love listening to your opinions and insights.
Fun fact, when you referenced Charlton Heston saying "YOU MANIACS YOU BLEW IT UP!" that line is spoken at fhe base to look as if he's screaming about the apes, but in fact the jntention is that he's referring to humanity ruining their world themselves
this trilogy is arguably top 3 all time. imo. uu guys should react to some of the behind the scenes videos. ps love the vid you guys are great cant wait for the next upload
My favorite trilogy of all time. DAWN is my favorite overall but RISE has my favorite moment(Caesar saying NO for the first time). WAR was just ok to me but enjoyable
The Oak is correct that was Sampson. That gorilla broke more pains of glass on his enclosure. Every time we went to see him as a kid there was a pain of glass broken on his enclosure. He was super smart and just amazing as a kid to see.
I just realized the girl is Nova! Didn't catch that the first time around watching! Guess that's the setup and she'll meet the astronaut (Charleton Heston's character from the original movie). Been waiting to see if they'd come full circle to the all the teasers about the lost astronauts (newspaper and TV news) from Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
This trilogy was supposed to mirror a lot of biblical themes. Caesar is supposed to be mozes. Freeing his people from slavery and leading them through a long desert to the promise land. Just as Mozes lead the Jews out of Egypt. And just like Mozes, Caesar is forbidden from entering the promise land as a punishment from God for being temperamental. Clues of biblical connections are seen in all three movies. In the 2nd movie, the Apes have 10 rules written on a rock in chalk. "Ape must not kill ape", etc. This is meant to symbolize the 10 commandments. Then again in this movie, when Ceasar is out on the cross in the cold, it is supposed to be like Jesus nailed to the cross. And then Caesar regaining strength in the morning is like him being reborn. I am not very religious, but the parelles in this trilogy were excellently done.
The third film really makes that connection explicit, but yeah, Caesar's story is a retelling of the story of Moses. He's raised among the people who have enslaved his people and does not understand who he is. When he learns who he really is, he goes into exile and lives among his people, trying to raise a family and live in peace, until finally he is compelled to fight for the freedom of all his people. Finally, he is saved by an act of God that destroys his enemies and saves his people, after which he leads them to the promised land where he dies as they finally reach it. It's not a perfect 1:1, obviously, but the parallels are there and clearly intentional.
@@jawbone78Great points. Yeah, as you said, not a perfect retelling. But once I realized the parallels, it added new levels to my enjoyment of the trilogy.
I think my favorite fan thing that I kinda wish happened was said by blindwave towards the end where the army shows up and they turn to caesar, erik goes what if one of the soldiers took off his mask and it was an ape, how crazy would that have been.
This saga is fantastic, the new movies are incredible and the old ones are not far behind, above all you understand the relationship between orangutans, gorillas and chimpanzees
Caesar dying always makes me cry what a leader made sure his people were straight and lead them to a better home even though he lost himself a bit he went right back to being a leader and didn’t go until his people were ok😢😭I swear it’s probably gonna be Cornelius leading the people and somebody is going to bad mouth Caesar and say his father was a weak leader ima gonna flip my Shit😂😡
I never expected to like these films. I love the original films, all 5 of them. After the horrible 2001 remake I avoided watching this trilogy with all of my being. But after being promised that they were in no way associated with prior failure of 2001, and that they told a different but equally interesting story compared to the originals, I finally decided to give them a try. No regrets. I was impressed beyond measure at how sadly realistic such an outcome could be and truly enjoyed every aspect of these movies.
So many call backs to the original Planet of The Apes, Cornelius, (original scientist from Planet of The Apes - Roddy Mcdowall _Called Charlton Heston Bright Eyes). The Doll she is carrying is the doll from the original as well. It proves to the Ape Scientist that man was here first. Nova is the little girls name, and grown up she falls in love with Charlton Heston. The crucified apes are used to keep others from the Forbidden Zone in the original. The lake is where Heston's ship crashed down. Lots of call backs. Great series. GREAT REACTION GENTLEMEN.

Caesar is about 20-21 in the and in reality apes lifespans are about 39-40 yrs but given that he was battle ridden. His legacy will forever live on! Rocket isn't Caesars son that is his second in command, following Maurice....

Saved his familie. Saved his kind. Died doing what he done since the begining. Provided the future. Provided hope, pulled through. Ultimate badass.
The composer also did the Batman and Spider-Man now way home and the director of maze runner is doing the new planet of the apes movie which gives me so much confidence it will be great
Man I tear up every time with death of any ape in this movie, such a great film. Well done guys!
Michael Giacchino (Oscar Winner) composed the score and I think he did a fantastic job portraying the sad and hopeless vibe of this 3rd film.
I'm glad someone else mainly remembers Steve Zahn from Saving Silverman 😂
The Oak is correct that was Sampson. That gorilla broke more pains of glass on his enclosure. Every time we went to see him as a kid there was a pain of glass broken on his enclosure. He was super smart and just amazing as a kid to see.
Ironically looked to see if you had uploaded this last night....great now I’ve a dinner vid to watch 👍
bro yall r so entertaining
Great movie and reacted by great crew 😂 big fan of appleton oak love frome 🇵🇰
I just realized the girl is Nova! Didn't catch that the first time around watching! Guess that's the setup and she'll meet the astronaut (Charleton Heston's character from the original movie). Been waiting to see if they'd come full circle to the all the teasers about the lost astronauts (newspaper and TV news) from Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
"Apes Together Strong"...that means the good humans too. 🙂
I cried at the end of this movie in the theatres lol
20:17
that scene was totally a nod to "a New Hope"
So awesome you know about saving Silverman! I wish someone would do a reaction to it!
See bad medicine and I click!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
im hyped for the next movie Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes which should be coming out in 2024
So many call backs to the original Planet of The Apes, Cornelius, (original scientist from Planet of The Apes - Roddy Mcdowall _Called Charlton Heston Bright Eyes).
See, I know Steve Zahn from You've Got Mail and Daddy Daycare 😂 he's the best
im so early holy shit!!!!! First off, I watched the first one, rise, when i was like 13-14 when it came out and ngl it scared the shit out of me as a kid but i was so fascinated with it! I only ever saw the first, but bc i love yalls channel so much I had to watch your videos on the other two! I JUST finished the reaction to the second one lol! Anyways I really love you guys and your reactions! Thank you for sharing everything with us!
Hope you and enjoy and thank you! 😁😁😁🤙🤙
This is a fantastic movie. I will say I like the original ones better just because I have an appreciation for them more as I saw them more and grew up with them. Growing up meant they were my dad's "documentaries," not that I was born when the first ones came out.
I don't if it means anything but the old ape in the very first ape movie was also called Cornelius.
Top 5 favorite trilogies for me
First of all, that Twilight shirt is everything
Get some sleep 😂🤙
Caesar is about 20-21 in the and in reality apes lifespans are about 39-40 yrs but given that he was battle ridden. His legacy will forever live on! Rocket isn't Caesars son that is his second in command, following Maurice....
Cornelius is still the same baby from Dawn. Rockett is the chimp that fought him in the sanctuary.
Genuinely one of the movies that make you think all the humans except for a few are the real issue
The Oak’s Twilight shirt I NEED IT
Now you guys gotta watch the original Planet of the apes Trilogy
He can talk! He can talk! He can talk! I can siiIIIIING!!
