What makes this movie so good for me is that the film never takes itself seriously. It's full of ridiculous... but the for the characters in the film it is serious. It's a classic comedy duo, the funny guy and the straight man. The film is the funny man and the cast is the straight man. It works so well. I always love that Oak goes into depth about everything, sometimes he may talk around the same thing over and over but a lot of times it's quite important messages he's trying to convey. Also other times with movies like this it's nice that there doesn't have to be a message 😅😅
Rare to enjoy a movie without someone trying to shove a message down your throat. The occasional pure entertainment factor of the cinema is delightful.
@@leighsawyer1013 Yeah agreed, a lot of us like to watch movies and shows to escape from reality and have fun, not have all the shit going on be shoved down our throats as if we're all not already painstakingly aware of it 😅😅
Great reaction as always! I think Taron is really underated as an actor and seems like such a nice guy. If you haven´t seen it yet I recommend you watch 1917! A beautiful and impactful movie in "one shot" that takes place during world war one. Another tip would be The Impossible from 2012 starring a young Tom Holland about the tsunami catastrophe in Thailand in 2004.
Fun trivia: The entire church scene is all one shot. It is in my humble opinion, one of the best action scenes ever put to film. THe amount of time and effort it must have taken to get that good is probably unreal.
My mom is 67 and usually doesn't like action movies or violence and gore in movies. Normally, she watches Disney and romcoms. She LOVES Kingsmen. She laughed her butt off at the bar and church scenes. It's one of the very few movies that she has seen multiple times and will watch again.
My ENTIRE family and I LOVE this movie!!!! It's hilarious!!! We've rewatched this movie sooo many times by now!!! And this movie led us all down a Taron Egerton path.. ...soooo.... we watched the Rocketman, and his version of Robin Hood and ended up LOVING those too!!! He did GREAT in both those movies as well!!!
This was instantly my favorite movie when I saw it. It was one of the first movies I ever saw multiple times in theaters. I believe I saw it 3 times in a matter of a month after it came out. I haven't seen it in a few years now, but it is one of my all-time favs still. A perfect mix of action and comedy.
This is one of my all time favorite movies. Saw it in theaters with my mom and dad when it came out. Funnily enough, afterwards they dropped me at my friends house and when I got there his mom said they were at my apartment, and I was stuck in the middle of a blizzard for 4 hrs trying to get back to my house. I ended the night with ALMOST hypothermia in my finger. Lucky I was able to get inside my house and kick everyone out.
So glad you did this movie it's one that's so underrated but so almost perfect, I used to watch this on repeat and still go back to watch it every now and then
I LOVE this movie! As far as the plot holes, Valentine says to the princess that she’s important to get the population back on track because people liked her, so I imagine he was planning to stop the chip thing after some time, to just reduce population, instead os killing everyone who wasn’t “selected”
Exactly. Valentine only has to take his hand off the panel and the chip thing ends. Surely he wasn't going to keep his hand on the panel for hours. And what about the 1/4 of the people in the world who might have been sleeping when he activated the chip in the first place? Since it was daylight in London and Brazil, that would have meant Australia and Asia were dark. I think these only look like plot holes when you think about them a little. But if you think about them more, they probably wouldn't be.
If you guys have never seen Mathew Cain as a villain than you HAVE to watch “Now you see me” and “Now you see me 2” That franchise is amazing and so is Mr. Cain
The dog thing- I'd add that the movie gives us the definitive separation between "this is fun in fantasy" and "I should do this." It's never easy, but movies are funny. There are dog deaths in A Fish Called Wanda, but they're funny because they obviously swapped out stuffed dogs. Anyway, I'm gonna highly recommend you reaction to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It's a classic martial arts film I think you'll adore.
I thought this series of films was SO much fun! Great cast, LOVE me some Mark Strong (HOW successfully versatile can one actor be?!), fun sets and a lovely fusion of spy and sci-fi. Super fun and LOVED y'alls reaction! Super glad you had fun with this one!
Some people don't like the 2nd film as much but I really enjoyed it. Another action spy movie I think you'll like (I loved it) is Atomic Blonde. The action has a John Wicks vibe & it's got an epic soundtrack (set at the end of the 80's).
I'd like the second film more if Eggsy wasn't such a screwup. The guy's rush to get with his girlfriend gets all his friends killed, then he just seems to keep screwing up while succeeding because he's the main character. He even gets Merlin killed because he's in a rush.
I'm not even kidding but this film really is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Definitely my favorite action/spy movie ever. In my opinion this film is a 10/10. and a must- watch. The first time watching I was just sitting there like what the fuck when that pub scene happened and then the church scene and the fire work scene - brilliant. Taron Edgerton and Collin Firth with Samuel L. Jackson as the villian was the absolut best dynamic. Taron Edgerton is definitely one of the most underrated actors, he is absolutely phenomenal in everything I've seen in him. Then what I particularly liked about the movie: The villian was AMAZING. He was not just evil for the purpose of being evil. He actually had a good (even If plothole-ish) plan and motive. I just really appreciate when characters are well thought out and I think this was the case here. Please do the second movie Kingsmen: Golden Circle as well. It's in my opinion just as good maybe a 9.5/ 10 simply because this first movie is just untouchable in my opinion.
These movies are so fun 💖 Totally love the fight scenes especially the ones with Harry and Gazelle. I'm not a fan of McDonalds but this placement is genious 😂 Also, I watched this movie sooo many times, how did I never notice the yellow submarine? 😅 Thanks Answer, for pointing that out! And thank you guys for your reaction. Glad you enjoyed this movie 💪💚
GREAT film! Saw it at the cinema. Saw the sequel, which resorted to gross-out humour, which kind of took away from the "Gentleman" angle. Missed the third one, but I understand Stanley Tucci was cast as Merlin? The "Honest Trailers" trailer for this film described Mark Strong's Merlin as "Stanley Tucci-ish" Other points: - Eggsy's character meant he was always destined to be Gallahad (the Pure). Like when he swerved to avoid that cat. Roxy became Lancelot (the Brave) - There was a scene when I saw this in the cinema, in which Harry tells Eggsy that "Arthur" NEVER breaks from tradition, giving us a clue as to what was going on when he wanted to toast Harry again. This seems to have been removed from the DVD release. - This movie is probably when I started to wish people a "Happy Day" on their birthdays (Harry thanking Valentine for a "happy" meal)! - Sam Jackson does actually have a lisp - 2625 (the code for the princess's cell) on an alphanumerical keypad spells out ANAL, or COCK - I think Oak is wrong in his summary; the chips were only given to the people who agreed with Valentine's plan, which protected them from the anger virus. So only those people got their heads blown up. Since the signal was cut off when Eggsy killed Valentine, that probably leaves at least 6.5 billion people left alive.
This is so strange! I binged watched all your Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings reaction videos and when I was finished, I watched Kingsman! I'm going to start telling everyone I'm psychic now 😅
Oh wow!!! Didn’t expect this reaction! If you haven’t watched it, I highly recommend checking out “Now you see me” - Daniel Radcliffe is one of the protagonist in the second movie , btw 😉
The point of the shooting the dogs thing was that it WAS out of character for the Kingsmen, it was a test to see if they trusted the Kingsmen to always be true to their own Ethical code. Eggsy was supposed to trust the Kingsmen that they would never tell him to kill an innocent and so follow the order knowing that nothing bad would happen to those he cares about.
I love the cast of this movie, so fun, but I also think the Kingsman movies in general are quite fun, they’re simply a fun watch Tarot Egerton is simply THE man
I was having a hard time on decide what to see/listen this Tuesday morning while I check work emails and never clicked so fast. One of my favorite films, thank you guys! have a great day.
Kingsman is such a fantasty movie! I watched it with my dad on christmas eve, a few years after its release - he had already seen it before and wanted to show me. I am not usually big on spy movies but I had a lot of fun seeing this movie with my dad so it holds a special place in my heart now
Its funny that y’all reacted to this movie. Just last night I watched The Kingsman prequel with Ralphe Feinnes. It had a stacked cast as well. These movies are so much fun! Great reactions guys!
Fun fact: When Eggsy meets up with the Princess at the end, to get in her cell he puts in a code. The 4 digit code when translated from numbers to letters translates to a four letter word for what he and the Princess do at the end. 😉😆
When Mason mentioned being a Bond fan, I was surprised that earlier he had connected the boot knife to "Roadhouse" instead of Rosa Klebb in "From Russia with Love".
I'd read the dog scene a bit different: it is supposing to do a completely different thing with the agents. When they are confronted with the scene, the new agents are supposed to understand kingsman, and that they wouldnt request you to do something so cruel. If you don't understand kingsman, and therefore don't shoot, you're out, bc what you believe of kingsman, is not what they want to be represented. If you don't understand it and shoot, you're out because you don't have the right moral. If you do understand it, you can shoot, bc you can read that kingsman would put blanks. However this is ofc totally different than how it is in those cartell scenes. There its supposed to test loyalty to the commanders. But as agents are supposed to think for themselves, i'd read it the other way around for them.
For me the one thing that makes this stand out among other action movies is the ending with the princess, now I've seen a lot of action movies and what made that scene stick out for me is that in most action movies there's usually a random girl the hero saves who will give him a tempting offer, most times we never see them again or if the hero tries to cash in he gets blocked in some way, almost always if the hero ends up with a girl it's usually one who's been with them on most of their journey in this case I thought Roxy would be the main girl, so when the princess offered to hook up with him I wasn't surprised and when he found the door locked again didn't shock me, but then he actually hooked up with her which is something I don't think I've ever seen, even with James Bond movies even if he hooks up several times before the end he ends up with the main Bond girl, it's a small detail that really caught my eye.
You guys gotta do District 13, a French action film staring the founder of parkour. Amazing masterpiece and one of my favorite movies of all time. You all would love it.
Years ago when i first watched this film, it shocked me the amount of gore since I was not used to see that but i truly enjoyed the movie. I'm glad it was Rated R, otherwise i don't think it would have worked or had the same impact.
They also hinted at his hesitance towards hurting animals in the very beginning of the movie when he was driving the car he stole backwards and swerved and wrecked the vehicle to avoid hitting a cat....😉
One neat little tidbit of information about this film that I find interesting is that all the important action takes place in the center of the screen so you don't have to look around and miss something.
I would love to point out the perfect timing on my part! I just watched the first 2 movies the other day and now you guys post this???? Like *chef's kiss*
@@BaddMedicine I really enjoyed them! I personally liked the first one more, but the second one has my favorite character in it. I loved the class study that featured in this. The rich elite snobs sneered at Eggsy for being from a Counsil-Estate. Even Cain championed his own high-class sweeb. A hero isn't defined by how rich he or she is.
The greatest little detail to me in this movie is that when Cain’s character is dying a thick “lower class” accent comes out of his mouth. So after all his snobbery, his origins are the same as Eggsy’s.
Definitely enjoy this particular series. It's over the top, but still highly entertaining

It's not one shot. The cuts are just well hidden 😊
My mom is 67 and usually doesn't like action movies or violence and gore in movies. Normally, she watches Disney and romcoms. She LOVES Kingsmen. She laughed her butt off at the bar and church scenes. It's one of the very few movies that she has seen multiple times and will watch again.
Reminds me of how me and both my parents jokingly refer to Kingsman as a "family movie", because we all adore it and love watching it together
I love this movie to death. The writing, twists, characters, performances, action, directing, etc. all oozes so much fucking style
I'm glad it outdid your expectations! They definitely have a formula that sets them apart from similar movies and just works so well.
Yes! I love these movies! Haven’t seen the 3rd one yet but I will…this cast was stellar
I already forgot it had a third even tho I watched it.
The prequel is really good, I'd highly recommend watching it. Action scenes are better than the second there's just less of them
Definitely watch the 3rd too , they’re all amazing , 3rd feels different but still kingsman
There is a 3rd one? Well, good to know. Now I know what I may do later this evening xD
Third one was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

If you guys have never seen Mathew Cain as a villain than you HAVE to watch “Now you see me” and “Now you see me 2”
That franchise is amazing and so is Mr. Cain
Ugh still angers me the sequel wasn't called "Now you don't"
Spoilers. 🤦♀️
This was my introduction to Taron Egerton. Hooked ever since.
Oh, I agree on Atomic Blonde. That movie is fantastic.
Tarpon Egerton was recently in Black Bird, a limited run TV series on Apple TV+. I thought it was a good show & he did a great job in it.
GREAT film! Saw it at the cinema. Saw the sequel, which resorted to gross-out humour, which kind of took away from the "Gentleman" angle. Missed the third one, but I understand Stanley Tucci was cast as Merlin? The "Honest Trailers" trailer for this film described Mark Strong's Merlin as "Stanley Tucci-ish"
Other points:
- Eggsy's character meant he was always destined to be Gallahad (the Pure). Like when he swerved to avoid that cat. Roxy became Lancelot (the Brave)
- There was a scene when I saw this in the cinema, in which Harry tells Eggsy that "Arthur" NEVER breaks from tradition, giving us a clue as to what was going on when he wanted to toast Harry again. This seems to have been removed from the DVD release.
- This movie is probably when I started to wish people a "Happy Day" on their birthdays (Harry thanking Valentine for a "happy" meal)!
- Sam Jackson does actually have a lisp
- 2625 (the code for the princess's cell) on an alphanumerical keypad spells out ANAL, or COCK
- I think Oak is wrong in his summary; the chips were only given to the people who agreed with Valentine's plan, which protected them from the anger virus. So only those people got their heads blown up. Since the signal was cut off when Eggsy killed Valentine, that probably leaves at least 6.5 billion people left alive.
Loved this reaction, glad you enjoyed one of the most iconic films ever!! Also shoutout to The Oak’s Jacob t-shirt 😂
I love the cast of this movie, so fun, but I also think the Kingsman movies in general are quite fun, they’re simply a fun watch
Tarot Egerton is simply THE man
I'm so happy to see you guys react to these movies, their some of my favorite movies
I was having a hard time on decide what to see/listen this Tuesday morning while I check work emails and never clicked so fast. One of my favorite films, thank you guys! have a great day.
Samuel L Jackson's character in the comic loved Mark Hamill so much he kidnapped him, which is one of the reasons he is in the movie.
Yes yes yes. My favourite movie ever. Can watch this film no matter what mood I'm in and it makes my day ever single time
Kingsman is such a fantasty movie!
40:15 that music is also “Land of Hope and Glory” which is British imperialism: the song, basically
28:30 did anyone expect that Colin Firth could believably transform into a John Wick level action badass?
Fun fact: When Eggsy meets up with the Princess at the end, to get in her cell he puts in a code. The 4 digit code when translated from numbers to letters translates to a four letter word for what he and the Princess do at the end. 😉😆
Colin Firth - King's speech, Mr. Darcy
When Mason mentioned being a Bond fan, I was surprised that earlier he had connected the boot knife to "Roadhouse" instead of Rosa Klebb in "From Russia with Love".
The equivalent of a new age James Bond film. I remember seeing this is theaters and being blown away
My face was literally the exact same one as Answer‘s face at 1:47 😂😂
Lol 😆
I'd read the dog scene a bit different:
it is supposing to do a completely different thing with the agents.
Peirce actually made a name for himself in a great detective series called Remington steel .. great series mid 80s
You all would love it.
lmfao, NOT GERALD Butler haha, poor Gerard.
Years ago when i first watched this film, it shocked me the amount of gore since I was not used to see that but i truly enjoyed the movie. I'm glad it was Rated R, otherwise i don't think it would have worked or had the same impact.
Gore? All blood effects looked terrible and all the heads exploding were colorful smoke. You need to be more desensitized 😂
I understand you.I still have problems with the church scene
them doubting Taron in the beginning... ME SCREAMING ABOUT Black Bird
24:29 - The 'daggered' shoe is a callback to Rosa Klebb's shoe in 'From Russia With Love' (1963), long before 'Road House' (1989).
They also hinted at his hesitance towards hurting animals in the very beginning of the movie when he was driving the car he stole backwards and swerved and wrecked the vehicle to avoid hitting a cat....😉
This movie being almost 10 years old is crazy lol
It's still one of my favorite action comedies.
One neat little tidbit of information about this film that I find interesting is that all the important action takes place in the center of the screen so you don't have to look around and miss something.
glad you guys enjoyed this one because the prequal is fun as hell
Kingsman is a very good movie and it was fun watching you guys react to it. Can hardly wait till you watch the second one. Thanks fellas
A sick fun fact; MOST of the church fight scene is a one-take. It's insane!
Incorrect. It was revealed later that it was brilliant editing
this is one of my all time favorites! glad you guys enjoyed
Eddie the Eagle is such a fantastic movie. Can't recommend it enough.
Loved re-watching this with you guys! Great Reactions😊
i went through a phase where i was obsessed with this movie and the movie "now you see me"
The Shoe Phone is probably a call back to the old (60's) Get Smart TV series.
I would love to point out the perfect timing on my part! I just watched the first 2 movies the other day and now you guys post this???? Like *chef's kiss*
Perfect timing! What did you think of them?
@@BaddMedicine I really enjoyed them! I personally liked the first one more, but the second one has my favorite character in it. As someone who always pays attention to the soundtrack, I adore the ones of this series. Not sure why it took me so long to watch them, but it was worth the wait! I look forward to the next 2 movies!
I love how answer was pointing out Danial Craig's and Pierce Brosnsns history before bond. You might have posed out that poster behind you. Before Diehard what was Bruce Willis known for...Moonlighting 😂. You guys are are pretty entertaining, keep it up
Taron Egerton has got charisma for DAYS. If you haven't watched Black Bird yet, I 100% recommend
Exactly, Eleanor. Deep down we're all the same, even if these snobs like to think they're not.
Matthew Vaughn is doing reboots on KICK-ASS & LAYER CAKE.
He was interviewed at NY Comic Con this weekend, and he made the announcement 😅😅
Definitely enjoy this particular series. It's over the top, but still highly entertaining
I have been hoping and eagerly awaiting for you all to react to these movies. I am so glad for this reaction...which, yet again, is another GREAT reaction. 👍🏽😃
"The Kingsmen" is to spy movies what ",Galaxy Quest is to Sci-fi movies. Both of them are wildly creative homages, whilst still being entertaining movies in their own right. I loved them both.
I absolutely can’t wait until next Tuesday to see y’all’s reaction to the second!!!! You have seen anything YET‼️‼️‼️❤
The context of the story makes him work so well as the main guy
It's not a sample of bond music. It's called a Hanging chord. It's been used for that kinda spy vibe forever.
Seriously, that church scene is *chef's kiss*
It's a story as old as time but done in such a new refreshing way. Loved the movie and the reaction 🤩😍
Hi. Your comment on culling humankind made me think of another movie you should watch, if you haven't already. The Da Vinci Code, Inferno and Angels and Demons. If I remember correctly Inferno is the one with the "culling". But they are all great. Have fun 😊
This movies was the king of coming out of nowhere, and had no right being that good 😂 Glad I randomly watched it in the cinema
that thing on his beach are wooden structures meant to break waves, so that with high tide or a stormy day that his house doesn't get flooded
This was the first movie I saw with Taron Egerton and he’s great! Instant fan tbh he pulled it off really well
