      @@WTDProductionsThey actually practised this scene (over 7 mins long uncut) so much that they can perform it live on stage, the only part of the entire scene not performed by Colin Firth himself is when Harry is thrown into the organ, everything else is Firth himself. While it is disappointing Rick didn't like it, I really appreciate him saying things like "it's not for me", and "this didn't work for me". So many people jump to saying something is bad or lazy, and get really toxic if they don't personally enjoy it.

      Elite Salad no, but Aaron was constantly shitting on the abridged version, saying that it was too silly and didn’t do the characters justice and that Kirito was so well-developed in the original... A whole load of horseshit basically, and he complained so much that they dropped the reaction after episode 6. It may sound childish, but I’ve always held that against Aaron since, and my mood involuntarily sours whenever he speaks. Which is a shame, because the others can actually give great insight and commentary

      Garik Avagyan which is only fair. Not everything they watch will be liked by all of them, that only stands to reason. Still, seeing the experience dragged down because one member really hates what they’re watching feels like a disservice to the rest of the crew (as with SAOA, as I felt like the rest liked it well enough; I hope they continued watching it in their spare time). Now, I don’t watch too many reactions from BW, so I’m curious: is Aaron the only one who does this? Do the rest just express their dislike in a more reduced manner?

    One detail I love in Harry’s slaughter is when the grenade blows up, you can see that his ears ringing. For a brief moment you can see that since his ears are blocking out the signal, Harry has a brief moment of horror on his face at what he is doing. Then the ringing goes away, the signal reaches him and the rampage continues.

    • @TheCursedCat1927
      @TheCursedCat1927 3 года назад +173

      That's a bit of an unintentionall detail there.
      Why ?
      Because that Explosion is real - they really blew up a mini-bomb, that they usually use for Practical Car Explosions.
      They didn't want to use the CGI Explosion, to make it as realistic, as possible.
      And it actually came out a bit bigger, than expected.
      That "brief moment of horror" was there because - during shooting the scene - Colin Firth was near the explosion, and his Ears really did hurt him after that, for like an Hour, or so...

      @@SomeGuyCalledJack No, they're not. That's not possible in that way. The whole fight scene has at least 23 hidden cuts. They had the whole choreography worked out before and knew how the scene should look in the end. They filmed it in parts with lots of pauses in between. You can see it in the BTS material how the director is calling action and 5 seconds later he shouts freeze and everybody stops. Then they reposition and start again. You can't do the whole choreography in one take with everything special that happens during the fight, like people flying out of windows, get smashed against the walls etc. You have to film these things separated from the rest.

      @@TheCursedCat1927 well, that will depend on your perspective. If you are looking at it from earth's gravitational well, anything in space is a height. Planets are merely scattered ceilings to the floor that we call the earth.
      And considering how gravitional wells are currently defined, that means that even if we are infinitely far away from earth, we would still be inside its gravitational well. Thus we would still have a floor to land on if we were to wait long enough. Because even 1 trillion lightyears away, the mass of you will still be attracted to the mass of earth, and thus if there were nothing at all to get you off course, eventually, you would start speeding up directly towards the earth.

    7:34, an interesting fact about the water scene is that the water was only supposed to go to a certain height (I can't remember what) but the machine lowering them into the water malfunctioned (if I understand correctly the bedroom the actors were in, was lowered down into a "box" full of water) and instead lowered them too far (not sure if it completely submerged then cos I can't remember the whole story) so the fear you see on the actors faces is genuine but they decided to keep the shot in because it looked good. (If you want to know more you can easily look up the full story).

  • @ConradLarsonGaming
    @ConradLarsonGaming 3 года назад +50

    I love the scene with Eggsy ordering the drink. There's a couple layers to unpack here:
    1) A gin martini is a cocktail (If you can call it that) comprising 5 parts gin (London Dry) to 1 part vermouth (Dry martini typically, hence the name). As you can tell from the ingredients, this is a very very dry drink, and the dry martini makes it very very dry.
    2) There are hundreds of different "correct ways" to make a Gin martini. They are absurd in the ways to basically not have the vermouth in. I personally would add the vermouth, swill it in the glass, then pour it away before adding the gin. Other ways include holding the glass at an angle and pouring the vermouth in so that it immediately pours away or, my personal favourite, having the barman take the shot of vermouth then breathe into the glass.
    3) The most famous of these is Winston Churchill's preference, which was to have a gin martini with just the gin in the glass, and an unopened bottle of vermouth in the room. That is the specific reference here with Eggsy's personal method.
    4) The last part of the reference is that James Bond famously drinks a Vodka Martini, shaken not stirred. Most cocktail aficionados would argue that you can't have a martini with vodka. Also shaking it requires ice, and that waters down the drink. Thereby stirring, not shaking, is by far the "bigger" way to have the drink. Of course the actual drink Bond drinks is called a "Vespa" and is a bit more complex than just a Dry Vodka Martini.

She laughed like I was joking. There was a herd of women in line for 50. My mom and I don't roll like that. She raised us on movies like Commando and Predator. I said, "Seriously. Two for Kingsman." So we got our tickets, and went in. Movie let out at the same time as 50. The hordes of women came out of their theatre in near silence, looking extremely meh. Our theatre left still laughing and smiling and quoting our favourite lines.

    • @christianwise637

      @Quilo Sky SPOILERS FOR THE GOLDEN CIRCLE
      The tone of the film is just too over-the-top (this film starts off at a fairly grounded level, then builds up the craziness over the course of the story, while the sequel starts at a 10 and never really changes from there); the fact they killed off all the Kingsmen at the very start, including Roxy; the villains weren't as interesting or fun; the American characters were underused (except Pedro Pascal, he was cool); Harry was brought back in a way that essentially removed all consequences from these films; Eggsy lacks a character arc, and in general spends most of the film making stupid mistakes; the romance with the Princess.
      There are some parts I like, such as some of the action scenes, most of the performances, and Elton John's appearance. On the whole though, I feel the sequel was really disappointing, though hopefully the prequel will be a bit of a course correction

    Somethong kinda cool that I just found out about, the umbrella gun does exist to a degree. Back in the Cold War, there was a guy who mysteriously died and they found poison in his blood. There was an investigation and basically, he had been carrying secret information and another guy from the Soviets had been sent to take care of him. A few days before he died, the guy was walking down the street when he felt a strange pain in the back of his leg. He turned around and saw a guy (pretending to) drop his umbrella and was picking it up again. Turns out the umbrella had been made into a sort of gun that was designed to fire a small ball filled with poison out of the front. The umbrella's now on display at the International Spy Museum in DC

      I agree! I blame that test on Arthur (and probably the previous Arthur too).
      It would make more sense if the test was about a person rather than a dog - a person can be evil. A dog is an innocent, no matter how you put it, and there cannot possibly be any justified reason to k*ll it here, but they're supposed to do it anyway? Anyone who would go through with that I would not trust to wield a spoon, much less be responsible for the safety of countless civilians.
      It's a test of blind obedience - obedience without personal accountability or judgment. Not anything else. Not good.

      @@Ebbagull You two aren't serious are you? I would shoot that dog in a heartbeat because I care infinitely more for human life than I do for that animal (sorry, not sorry). All that stuff about whether a dog can be evil or good I couldn't care less about. The perfect test would have been to put either one of my kids or one of my parents in front of me and ask me to shoot them.
